00:00Thank you. Good evening, everyone. Thank you, Esquire. I don't remember saying
00:15reunitator, but it's okay. Yeah, thank you. Congratulations to my fellow awardees. I'd
00:24like to believe that when you chose me for this award, you also had in mind the body
00:30of work that Rappler has done over time, but most especially the investigative stories
00:36that we did regarding the flood control scandal. We were able to do those stories
00:44not just because of the commitment of the team, but because of the help of angry, fed-up
00:51Filipinos who provided us countless information, tips, and leads who encouraged
00:58us to really pursue these stories because they trusted us to really complete it and
01:05expose the corrupt no matter how powerful we are or no matter what it takes to do so.
01:12So, as they say, bad news is good news for journalism. How broken the politics and
01:27system today is has ironically reconnected the public to journalists. We have slowly rebuilt
01:36built the trust that we somehow lost along the way, and we like that. And that's why this
01:43award is really for the truth-tellers. Filipinos want their journalists brave but also responsible.
01:53We know that and we're aware of the huge responsibility that comes with the power that we have. So, thank you so much, Esquire, for giving us this book.
