00:00Just days before the Thanksgiving travel rush, the skies are finally open again.

00:04After weeks of chaos in the skies, the FAA has finally lifted emergency flight restrictions at 40 major U.S. airports.

00:12These cuts were put in place during the longest government shutdown in American history.

00:16Airlines can now resume full schedules starting 6 a.m. Monday, just in time for the holiday crowds.

00:22For 43 days, air traffic control centers faced dangerous staffing shortages.

00:26Planes were grounded, flights were slashed, and passengers were stranded.

00:31At its worst, over 2,900 flights were canceled in a single day.

00:35But now, thanks to a staffing rebound and the shutdown's end, the skies are clearing.

00:40Only 1% of flights were canceled over the weekend, and air traffic controllers are back in position.

00:46Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy credited FAA teams and praised the president's leadership.
