NBC has handed out a series order to the multicamera comedy 'Happy's Place,' starring Reba McEntire. 'Happy's Place' sees McEntire play Bobbie, a woman who inherits her father's restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The series reunites McEntire with the team behind her 2001 sitcom, 'Reba,' including showrunner Kevin Abbott, and co-star Melissa Peterman.

00:00NBC has handed out a series order to the multi-camera comedy Happy's Place, starring Reba McIntyre.
00:06Happy's Place sees McIntyre play Bobby, a woman who inherits her father's restaurant,
00:11and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.
00:16The series reunites McIntyre with the team behind her 2001 sitcom Reba,
00:20including showrunner Kevin Abbott and co-star Melissa Peterman.
00:24Earlier this month, after filming the pilot and before the series' pickup,
00:27McIntyre told The Hollywood Reporter this about why she wanted to return to the sitcom world.
00:31Well, we wanted to do it right after we were canceled on The Reba Show in 2006.
00:36We've been working tirelessly trying to find the right script, the right idea.
00:41We did do Malibu Country one season with Lily Tomlin and Sarah Rue,
00:47and then we got the idea, Julie Abbott came up with the idea of Happy's Place,
00:52and we shot the pilot, and we're just waiting to see what NBC says,
00:56if it's going to series or not.
00:57Happy's Place is now one of four new series NBC has on tap for the 2024-2025 broadcast season.
01:04Meanwhile, the network renewed Lopez vs. Lopez for a third season,
01:07but canceled rookie comedy Extended Family starring John Cryer.
01:11For her part, McIntyre is a proven star and TV draw,
01:14an important element as broadcast networks and streamers alike look for broad programming
01:18that can not only break through a crowded landscape, but also travel globally.
01:22Coming up, she's set to host the 2024 ACM Awards on May 16th on Prime Video.
