00:00The King of Thailand is on the fourth day of a state visit to China, during which the countries have pledged closer ties going forward.

00:07Former Thai Foreign Minister Dr. Kantati Supamon-Khon says it's an historic event.

00:13This is definitely a milestone in the relations between Thailand and China.

00:20And the relations go back officially, of course, 50 years.

00:25We're celebrating our 50th anniversary.

00:28But actually, in actual fact, the relations between Thailand and China goes way back.

00:36You know, Thailand is already nearly 800 years old and China is even older.

00:44So we've been friends for a long time.

00:48So the Thai King chose China for the state visit.

00:52What message do you think he wanted to send in this choice?

00:55I think in this case, you know, the old saying, action speaks louder than words.

01:12His Majesty, the King of Thailand, decided to visit China at the very, as one of his first trips abroad, officially.

01:27And this is the message is that we are ready to enhance the close relationship between the two countries even further.

01:52How do you envision the Thailand-China relationship evolving?

01:57I envision that Thailand and China can work together further to enhance security in our region, enhance development in our region.
