First Lady Melania Trump has launched her new “Fostering the Future” initiative, a nationwide effort to expand career, education, and mentorship opportunities for children raised in foster care. President Donald Trump signed the accompanying executive order, creating a coalition of federal agencies, nonprofits, universities, and private-sector partners to support foster youth. The plan establishes an online hub for resources, while increasing access to grants and vouchers. 00:03It is truly inspiring to see everyone gather here together, united in support of this remarkable

00:10initiative and community.

00:13As I stand here and observe the audience, I recognize the vital importance of each one

00:20of you to this mission, to our future generations.

00:27In particular, I would like to thank the cabinet secretaries, congress members, scholarship

00:33donors and various organizations for their unending advocacy.

00:41A special thank you to my husband for his enduring commitment to fostering the future.

00:48The president has prioritized America's foster care children and shortly he will sign our

00:55fostering the future executive order.

00:59Too many people from foster care community end up homeless, in danger on America's streets.

01:09It was 2021 when I developed the idea to establish an impactful platform with an important mission,

01:18to provide individuals from the foster care community the ability to secure an entry-level

01:25job position and, in turn, financial independence.

01:32Fostering the Future, a Be Best initiative, provides individuals from the foster care community

01:39with technology-based scholarships to attend colleges and universities throughout America.

01:48Fostering the future sets these individuals on their career paths, but more significantly,

01:55it equips each scholarship recipient with the fundamental foundation of knowledge that will

02:02endure throughout their lifetimes.

02:06Permanency for those who embody the fleeting.

02:12I applaud the American universities that have joined my mission, institutions like

02:18Wanderpilt University, University of Miami, and Villanova University.

02:25Following graduation, scholarship recipients from my program are prepared to enter the workforce,

02:32and ultimately become leading executives.

02:37Predictably, they will manage thousands of employees and generate significant value for American communities

02:45through job creation, access to healthcare, food security, and other societal benefits.

02:55This executive order, fostering the future for American children and families,

03:02gives me tremendous pride.

03:04It is both empathetic and strategic.

03:09It will certainly be impactful.

03:13It aims to establish a comprehensive network connecting federal departments and agencies,

03:19pride of private sector businesses, higher learning institutions, and charitable organizations.

03:27This will create new educational and employment opportunities countrywide.

03:34Our faith-based organizations will continue playing a vital and consequential role.

03:42My hope, of course, is that this level of coordinated collaboration will sustain.

03:49But today, I call on leadership from these various organizations, including the private sector, to join my effort.

03:58Rise above the ease of inaction.

04:02I predict this small spark today will ignite a profound and lasting nationwide movement.

04:11Our united resolve will foster a thriving future filled with compassion and innovation.

04:19Together, we will illuminate the pathway for today's foster children to become tomorrow's builders.

04:27And tomorrow's builders will foster the future of America's legacy.
