00:00:43Hey, sorry about what happened with you.
00:00:45No, no, no, all good.
00:00:46We're going to miss you at the game.
00:00:47Yeah, if I'm home by nine, we can have a late supper, if that sounds good.
00:00:51Yeah, yeah, that sounds good.
00:00:54Hello?
00:00:55Hey.
00:00:56Hi.
00:00:56Oh, watch out the chicken.
00:01:00Oh, the chicken.
00:01:01Oh, chicken.
00:01:02Look out, little chicken.
00:01:03Go, who's doing chicken?
00:01:05Don't.
00:01:06Be careful, be careful.
00:01:08Got it.
00:01:10Bedtime now, Grace.
00:01:12Stay up too late and look like a mess tomorrow, and I've got to buy the concealer.
00:01:25Police.
00:01:25Police.
00:01:25Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
00:01:35Elizabeth Fenwick?
00:01:36What is this?
00:01:37Ma'am, you'll want to get dressed.
00:01:38Go with her.
00:01:39What are you guys doing here?
00:01:40Do you guys have a warrant?
00:01:42They had the wrong house.
00:01:43Yeah, you got the wrong house.
00:01:44We just moved here like six months ago from Columbus.
00:01:46Here's the warrant, sir.
00:01:47She didn't do anything wrong.
00:01:48And there are questions about this evening.
00:01:49She's been here since dinner.
00:01:51Who's grocery store chicken?
00:01:52What are you doing with my mom?
00:01:55Mom?
00:01:55Mom!
00:01:56Is she being arrested?
00:01:57Sir, is this your gun?
00:01:59Oh my God.
00:02:00Mom!
00:02:01Be quiet, Jackson.
00:02:02No, no, I, I, I, no, this is not ours.
00:02:05Did you bring this?
00:02:06This is a false arrest.
00:02:08Mom!
00:02:08Good Lord, Jackson, I'm right here.
00:02:12I'll go straighten this all out, okay?
00:02:13This is a mistake.
00:02:15I was just telling Officer Peggy, I know what this is about.
00:02:18This is about my daughter, Grace.
00:02:19What?
00:02:20Mom, what are you talking about?
00:02:21Did you get involved in some small town frenzy?
00:02:23You know, someone saw you out there tonight.
00:02:26They didn't like that you got led on the team.
00:02:27You're gonna have to come with us.
00:02:28No!
00:02:29It's okay, buddy.
00:02:30She'll be home by the time you wake up.
00:02:31I will.
00:02:32I'm gonna straighten this all out, okay?
00:02:33I'm coming willingly.
00:02:34No, Mom!
00:02:35You, you, you didn't do anything!
00:02:36Don't let them...
00:02:37Guys, this is a mistake!
00:02:38I'll make some calls!
00:02:39You can't do anything wrong!
00:02:41You're gonna make your mistake.
00:02:43It's a big mistake!
00:02:50What did she do?
00:02:57Five, six, seven, eight.
00:02:59One, two, three, four.
00:03:01Five, six, seven, eight.
00:03:03Pivot, turn right.
00:03:05Down, smile.
00:03:06And hold it.
00:03:07Damn it, I went left.
00:03:09Which I could see on your face.
00:03:12You know, turn wrong at the tryouts.
00:03:13Honestly, they might not notice if you keep smiling.
00:03:16Okay, it's all about how you carry yourself.
00:03:18Carry yourself like you're the best,
00:03:20and they'll believe it,
00:03:21and then you'll believe it.
00:03:23I was smiling.
00:03:25Check it.
00:03:26Mm-hmm.
00:03:27An apology smile.
00:03:29Oh, come here.
00:03:30I wanted to show you this.
00:03:32All right, look at this.
00:03:33See there?
00:03:38There.
00:03:38See that?
00:03:39That's a smile.
00:03:41That's a smile that says,
00:03:42I'm the best.
00:03:44You know, that even if everybody else goes left
00:03:46and you go right,
00:03:47you make them believe that everyone else got it wrong.
00:03:50You know, I just,
00:03:51I wish that they did baton work.
00:03:53I can twirl like a demon.
00:03:55Yeah, I know, hon, but they don't.
00:03:57All right, let's go again from the top.
00:03:59Wait, wait, Mercy, I need a minute.
00:04:01Okay.
00:04:03Oh, God.
00:04:07Thanks.
00:04:09You know, I'm glad we moved back.
00:04:11I wasn't so sure, but now I'm glad.
00:04:15You know, you can be on the same team I was on,
00:04:17you can go to the same school I went to.
00:04:20You know, maybe you could even be prom queen.
00:04:24Wouldn't that be a legacy?
00:04:26I bet the paper would even do a piece on it.
00:04:29Okay, Mom, calm down.
00:04:31You know, the whole prom queening thing
00:04:33is just not really my thing.
00:04:34I like this town, though.
00:04:35I mean, I made some good friends
00:04:36and I already got a boyfriend.
00:04:39Don't get too serious too fast like I did.
00:04:43Hey, treasure these years, okay?
00:04:46They are the best they'll ever get.
00:04:49You know, if I don't make it on the team,
00:04:52I'm sure Mr. Foster will give me extra hours
00:04:53at the ice cream store, which will be good.
00:04:55I'll make more money.
00:04:55Stop it. Don't think like a loser.
00:04:56You're going to get in.
00:04:59And with all the hours I've spent helping you with this,
00:05:01you better.
00:05:03You know, I was, um,
00:05:05I had a thought, uh, my old uniform is somewhere.
00:05:08They've changed it a little bit,
00:05:09but wouldn't that be a hoot?
00:05:10You auditioning in my old uniform?
00:05:12Oh, I don't know.
00:05:13I just don't know if it would...
00:05:16I feel like that would be a little...
00:05:17Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:05:18Actually, it's a terrible idea.
00:05:19I mean, it'd probably be too small anyway.
00:05:21But, I mean, what we picked is already perfect.
00:05:24It's a little more forgiving.
00:05:26Um, all right, let's go from the top.
00:05:30Ready?
00:05:32Five, six, and seven, eight.
00:05:34One, two, three, and four.
00:05:36Five, six, seven, eight.
00:05:38Big smile.
00:05:39Keep it up.
00:05:40Hold it.
00:05:41Hold it.
00:05:42Hold it.
00:05:42One, two, three, and four.
00:06:12Damn.
00:06:13She's good.
00:06:15Thanks.
00:06:22But you're good, too.
00:06:23You're probably even better.
00:06:25Besides, you're gonna do great,
00:06:26you're gonna get in,
00:06:27and you're gonna have so much fun.
00:06:29Hannah Lee was on the team the last two years.
00:06:31Why is she even here?
00:06:33My mom says that everyone has to try out.
00:06:35Every year.
00:06:35Even Hannah has to earn her spot.
00:06:38Which, might I point out,
00:06:39she absolutely just did.
00:06:40You're just as good.
00:06:43I am not.
00:06:44I am not.
00:06:45You're good enough.
00:06:46Okay, let's go with that.
00:06:49I don't know.
00:06:51My mom's kind of been...
00:06:53She helps me out a lot.
00:06:56Which is awesome,
00:06:56because she's really good.
00:06:58But she kind of got in my head this time.
00:07:01My mom was a star,
00:07:02and I'm not her.
00:07:04You're you.
00:07:05That's way better.
00:07:11There you go.
00:07:12Always works.
00:07:14Grace Fenwick?
00:07:19Is Grace here?
00:07:22I'm here.
00:07:23Oh, sorry.
00:07:30They're having tryouts.
00:07:31Only students and coaches can come in.
00:07:33Oh, I used to go here.
00:07:34Elizabeth Cooper.
00:07:36Well, I was then.
00:07:37Yeah, I was kind of...
00:07:38How old are you?
00:07:40You might remember me.
00:07:41I was the head dancer.
00:07:43And now my daughter is...
00:07:44Oh, sorry.
00:07:45Current students.
00:07:47Can't let you in.
00:07:47Oh, yeah.
00:07:52Yeah, we can do it.
00:07:53We've got the snacks up next,
00:07:55and the freshmen's.
00:07:57You know, the group time.
00:08:17We've got the snacks up next,
00:08:24and the weekends.
00:08:24Oh, yeah.
00:08:25Yeah.
00:08:25Give us a seat.
00:08:26Oh, yeah.
00:08:27We'll have to wait.
00:08:29We'll have to wait.
00:08:30They'll have to wait.
00:08:32Bye.
00:08:32Bye.
00:08:32Bye.
00:08:32Bye.
00:08:34Bye.
00:08:35Bye.
00:08:38Bye.
00:08:39Bye.
00:08:43Bye.
00:08:45Bye.
00:08:46Bye.
00:08:47Bye.
00:08:47Bye.
00:08:47Bye.
00:08:47Bye.
00:08:47Bye.
00:08:47ma'am well excuse me very much
00:09:03i'm leaving
00:09:07wait so she was here like right there yeah i saw her little face in between the balls and
00:09:16it threw me off if i saw her face between the balls that would throw me off too dude ew even
00:09:23if she did throw you off i mean she can't be mad because you were thrown off which you
00:09:30weren't because you were great it'd be crazy not to take you you're a born dancer grace
00:09:38is your middle name which is weird because it's also your first name what's bugging you
00:09:45anyway i mean you weren't even chuffed about being on the team and they don't have a baton
00:09:48chuffed we're saying chuffed now i'm not honestly i don't even care she thought that she would
00:09:56get an insurance job easy but she didn't so now basically all she has is like writing negative
00:10:03product reviews online and this i guess it's making her kind of i don't know she's not really
00:10:10nuts right i mean
00:10:11it's from coach megan okay you got this okay in or out
00:10:24mom mom did you hear me they said that it was really close but i i just yeah i heard
00:10:36they said i should try again next year no no you're on it this year but mom i didn't make it
00:10:45this said i didn't make what mom that that doesn't i'm gonna fix this my favorite lady's okay
00:10:53not now steve nope it's no man's land buddy
00:10:56mom please don't make a big deal out of this okay i'm new here i don't have that many friends and
00:11:03i just it's the principal okay there was something you wanted mom i don't really care
00:11:08there was something of value something you earned and didn't get that's an injustice mom it's really
00:11:15embarrassing when you try to fix things for me that i don't you want to hear embarrassing
00:11:17you know the school used to have a dress code can you imagine skirts on the girls pants on the boys
00:11:26well i set out to fix that because as i'll remind you this wasn't the 1950s
00:11:31so i made a big stink just when i had everyone listening
00:11:36the principal called my mom and asked her if she was backing me up on this
00:11:40and she said no
00:11:42you know she said that she liked skirts on girls
00:11:47thanks mom that's hardly the point
00:11:51and the kicker is she denied it till the day she died
00:11:55she gaslit me
00:12:00mom this isn't the same
00:12:03i'll tell you how it's the same
00:12:08if they're telling you you're not good enough for this team they're gaslighting
00:12:12and here's how it's different
00:12:15you have a mom who's willing to stand by you
00:12:20mom sometimes
00:12:25the more you try to fix something for me
00:12:28the more it can get really really messy
00:12:32well part of growing up is pushing through the mess
00:12:37you know if you don't stand up for what you deserve
00:12:40you'll be a doormat your whole life
00:12:43and then every time i have to step in and
00:12:45you know i don't think you want me fixing your life when you're 30
00:12:49honey
00:12:51i hear you i do
00:12:55okay and i promise i won't make too big a thing of it
00:12:59okay
00:13:00this is an injustice that could well shape the rest of my daughter's life
00:13:07before i make my case
00:13:09i just want to quickly note that while my family and i just moved here from the city
00:13:13i grew up here
00:13:15i went to the high school
00:13:16when coach megan and two of the other dance judges were on the dance team i was the head dancer
00:13:21and i just want to say that you know some people like to put their energy into balancing out the scales
00:13:27but that's enough said about that
00:13:29every year there are 15 thresherettes
00:13:33we're all treating that like it's some kind of god-given truth
00:13:37but in 1970 there were 20 girls out on that field
00:13:41in 1943 there were 32
00:13:44imagine that
00:13:45somehow they made it work
00:13:47you know luckily football fields are quite large
00:13:50but then in 1973
00:13:53someone set a limit
00:13:5515 lucky girls
00:13:57and every year more than 15 girls want to be on that team
00:14:00the thresherettes are essentially an unlimited resource that we've turned into a limited resource
00:14:06for no good reason
00:14:07but hey no harm done right
00:14:08right
00:14:09well this is from the thresherettes own website
00:14:13former thresherettes thrive
00:14:16more thresherettes go to college than among others in their class
00:14:19on average they have a 10 percent higher gpa than their peers
00:14:24more go on to successful careers
00:14:26this
00:14:27this
00:14:27this improved status
00:14:29is what my daughter has been denied
00:14:31and i saw some of you roll your eyes
00:14:33when i said that this could hurt my daughter for the rest of her life
00:14:36you are denying my daughter a chance at a better future
00:14:40and that is the injustice
00:14:42thank you
00:14:45thank you
00:14:47if no one else has a comment
00:14:50will everyone please step into the hallway so the board can confer
00:14:55oh watch out here comes trouble
00:15:07elizabeth
00:15:09megan
00:15:09that was very passionate
00:15:11thank you
00:15:12i'm sure you know that we don't have a head dancer
00:15:14we never did
00:15:16well i was front row middle
00:15:18you know what that means
00:15:19you were right there
00:15:20behind me
00:15:21no one's trying to balance any scales
00:15:23oh
00:15:24come off it
00:15:25you have been trying to tear me down for years
00:15:27you saw me at the top of the cat tree and you've been trying to claw your way
00:15:30elizabeth cooper
00:15:31i have not thought of you from one year to the other
00:15:34we're still living in high school
00:15:36cooper
00:15:38cooper
00:15:39i haven't been elizabeth cooper
00:15:40who's still living in high school
00:15:43hey mom
00:15:43we should just
00:15:44okay
00:15:47look
00:15:47head up high
00:15:49okay
00:15:49get that smile ready
00:15:51okay
00:15:52these people are jerks and they're out to get us
00:15:54all right
00:15:55just don't let them see that it hurts
00:15:56okay
00:15:57we're prepared with our ruling
00:16:03the vote was unanimous
00:16:06your daughter will be accepted as a member of the thresherettes dance team
00:16:11quiet please
00:16:16there's more
00:16:17mrs fenwick's case that being excluded from the team does harm
00:16:24harm that we are in a position to mitigate
00:16:27is a good case
00:16:29in that light
00:16:31all of the young women who were rejected from the thresherettes in the current school year
00:16:37are hereby granted membership in the team for this school year
00:16:42mrs fenwick that was amazing
00:16:59i didn't think it could be done
00:17:02thank you
00:17:03i really didn't ever think i'd get on that team
00:17:05well i was happy to do it
00:17:07and i know you're gonna be great
00:17:08thank you
00:17:09i didn't do this
00:17:12we did this
00:17:13thank you everyone
00:17:14let's get out of here
00:17:18okay that was impressive
00:17:23it was crap
00:17:25okay they turned it into crap
00:17:26but you won right
00:17:29come on can't either of you guess why i might be upset
00:17:32because the other girls got in
00:17:37yes because the other girls got in
00:17:39you know what i said is true
00:17:41the alums do better
00:17:42but why is that true
00:17:43because the thresherettes are exclusive
00:17:46you know they're competitive
00:17:47throw everybody in and it's just meaningless
00:17:50it's the difference between a dog park and a dog show
00:17:53one of them doesn't let the mutts in
00:17:54honey
00:17:55come on you know it's true
00:17:56you know you see that girl genie
00:17:58what is she like six feet tall
00:17:59how's that gonna look in the line
00:18:01it's gonna look like garbage
00:18:02you know i mean
00:18:04then grace is gonna be in the middle bouncing around like some charity case
00:18:08just thrown a bone with the rest of the proven losers
00:18:10who are you texting this is family time
00:18:15tyler he wanted to know how it went
00:18:18oh
00:18:18i knocked myself out up there
00:18:20i turned the world over
00:18:22and who's she talking to tyler
00:18:23because he really cares about any of this
00:18:25i heard that
00:18:26and of course he cares
00:18:27he's super supportive
00:18:28super supportive
00:18:29honey you did really good in there
00:18:30like i know you didn't get exactly what you wanted
00:18:33but you showed them exactly who they're dealing with
00:18:35well baby you're a force in nature
00:18:37well there's four weeks till school starts
00:18:40five till the first game
00:18:41first performance
00:18:42yep i don't have a job
00:18:44got nothing but time
00:18:45time to be super supportive
00:18:48this is so awkward

00:24:05look i'm not saying that tyler's only gonna want the popular girl

00:29:35you were right
00:29:39mm-hmm

00:30:53Oh, come on.
00:30:56What was that?
00:31:00You're fine. Didn't even touch you.
00:31:03So did you get Grace's text?
00:31:05Yeah, I got the text.
00:31:08But Grace didn't send it, did she?
00:31:11You sent it. And I think that's weird and not appropriate.
00:31:15That's how you talk to adults?
00:31:17And I think it's very appropriate for me to wonder about the character of the boy my daughter is seeing.
00:31:22We're not getting married.
00:31:24Oh, triggered much?
00:31:25I can see by the look on your face you're ready to run away and your ridiculous, cheap-ass, faux-vintage bicycle.
00:31:33You know, I was looking to see if you were a stand-up kind of guy, but I guess now we both know you're not.
00:31:38The things they make me do.
00:31:45Enjoy.
00:31:59Enjoy.
00:31:59Your mom is nuts.
00:32:07Uh-huh. We've talked about this.
00:32:08She just kind of cornered me. And did you see the text?
00:32:15What?
00:32:15Look at the last thing you sent me.
00:32:21Oh my god, I-I didn't...
00:32:24She had my phone.
00:32:26Look, this is way too weird for me.
00:32:28Wait, wait, wait.
00:32:29Gracie, seriously.
00:32:30No, no, no, stop, okay?
00:32:30She was probably just making a joke. I don't know, she's not normally like this, but I promise you, I will talk to her.
00:32:37Please just hold on with me.
00:32:38Okay, it was a one-time thing, and I will fix this.
00:32:43You know I'm worth it, right?
00:32:44You're worth a lot.
00:32:48Don't forget the side benefits.
00:32:51The free ice cream.
00:32:54And if you play your cards right, there might be cones.
00:32:59You're smiling, that's a good thing, right?
00:33:03Hey, we okay?
00:33:05Keep your permits off your phone, and we're okay.
00:33:11Tomorrow?
00:33:12Always.
00:33:12What did you say to Tyler?
00:33:30I happened to see him on his bike. We talked.
00:33:32No, about the text.
00:33:34You just had to prove that you were right.
00:33:37Oh, honey.
00:33:38He dumped you, didn't he?
00:33:41And please notice, I am not saying I told you so.
00:33:44You just did.
00:33:47Well, he gets one ambiguous text, and he runs away?
00:33:50You know, one mention of the word marriage, and he packs his bags, and somehow, I'm the villain for exposing this?
00:33:56He didn't run away.
00:33:57And he still isn't running away because, Mom, Tyler is a good guy.
00:34:03A good guy?
00:34:05Tyler Tulsi isn't even a good try.
00:34:08You bought yourself a week, maybe two, but he's out the door.
00:34:11And mark my words, I did you a favor, like I always do.
00:34:15You act like all I do is make bad choices.
00:34:18Do you want a list?
00:34:20AP chemistry, fail.
00:34:22Backless dress for junior prom, where's the bra strap supposed to go?
00:34:25What about the guitar you forgot for your guitar recital?
00:34:28An oversight.
00:34:28Yeah, they're all oversights.
00:34:30What about the three times you ate almonds and swelled up, or the time you cut your own hair?
00:34:34I was ten.
00:34:35And every time, I have to clean it up, I have to make the excuses, I have to call the parents, I have to drive you to the ER, I have to call the salon.
00:34:42How do you just have this list of all the things that I've done wrong?
00:34:46Do you just lie awake at night thinking about all this?
00:34:48I do.
00:34:49I do.
00:34:49I lie awake worrying about you.
00:34:52You know, it's time that you grew up.
00:34:54Because you carry yourself like a loser, but then you're surprised when you lose.
00:35:05So she sent that like it was from you?
00:35:11Yeah.
00:35:12And then, when I confronted her about it, she acted like it was justified because he freaked out.
00:35:16Which I only did briefly.
00:35:18Right, he only freaked out briefly.
00:35:21But then she called me a loser, so it's pretty much my life.
00:35:25That's cold.
00:35:28Wait, how do you have homework?
00:35:29It's not even day one yet.
00:35:32Is she okay?
00:35:33That's the thing.
00:35:36My mom has always been one of those, she's also my best friend kind of moms.
00:35:40She would listen to me, like really, really listen.
00:35:45Which I guess you guys don't know about because everything changed as soon as we moved here.
00:35:50You know, my mom always talked about how embarrassed she was by her mom.
00:35:53But now that's literally me.
00:35:56Don't worry.
00:35:57School's fine.
00:35:58Tance club is fine.
00:36:00And we're fine.
00:36:02Let's put it behind us.
00:36:03Okay.
00:36:05Aw.
00:36:06You tore like a fairy tale.
00:36:09Okay, let's go to class.
00:36:11Jeannie, looking good.
00:36:13Great.
00:36:14Nice form.
00:36:15Listen to the beat.
00:36:16It's there for a reason.
00:36:20Yes, that works.
00:36:22Zero collisions.
00:36:24Kneecaps, chairs all intact.
00:36:26And it's adorable.
00:36:28Everybody remember your blocking.
00:36:30And I'll see you here tomorrow.
00:36:32And congratulations on surviving your first week of school.
00:36:37Thanks for the support.
00:36:39You can sit on me anytime.
00:36:40Bye.
00:36:41Oh, look.
00:36:42Your shadow's here.
00:36:44You're lucky.
00:36:45You've got to go in.
00:36:46Someone's jealous.
00:36:47Hardly.
00:36:49I've seen your cosign.
00:36:50Oh.
00:36:50You coming to the thing later?
00:37:00Of course.
00:37:01I love pizza.
00:37:03Thanks.
00:37:10I'm sticking to her like a dirty sock.
00:37:14Hey, everyone.
00:37:25If I could just have your attention, I just want to give a big thank you to the support
00:37:30staff for making it all possible, and to the volunteer parents, and also, of course,
00:37:37to you girls.
00:37:38I know we had a few challenges, but every single girl here has proven that they deserve
00:37:43to be here, and I could not be more proud.
00:37:45Tomorrow night, we get to let everyone see what we've been working on, and I cannot wait
00:37:52to hear the applause.
00:37:53So, everyone, celebrate, enjoy, and monitor.
00:38:00Oh, here.
00:38:01Oh, just like that.
00:38:04Mmm.
00:38:05Oh.
00:38:05It's my face.
00:38:08In a way.
00:38:09My mom went to school at the same time as her.
00:38:12Totally recognized her.
00:38:13She said it wasn't even how good, but why?
00:38:15Hey, did you see the text she sent?
00:38:18Oh, with the wedding dress?
00:38:19Yes.
00:38:23What's going on?
00:38:25Everyone playing nice?
00:38:27Ignore them.
00:38:28Practically ran Tyler over with her car.
00:38:32Grace, you okay?
00:38:36Is she actually repeating?
00:38:38She did.
00:38:40Grace!
00:38:40Ignore them.
00:38:43Britt and Becca are jerks.
00:38:44But what are they even talking about?
00:38:47A wig?
00:38:48Your mom is not wearing a disguise to follow you around.
00:38:51Of course not, but how did they know about the text?
00:38:54The wedding dress?
00:38:56And what the hell are they talking about?
00:38:57They think she ran you over with her car?
00:38:59She just sort of ran me off the road with the car.
00:39:14You said that she just cornered you.
00:39:18Yeah.
00:39:19With a car.
00:39:20In the text, I think my mom sort of leaked that onto a mom text chain.
00:39:32This cannot keep going on.
00:39:34My mom is ruining my life.
00:39:37Speak of the mom.
00:39:38I got to talk to her.
00:39:42Hash things out.
00:39:44Okay.
00:39:45Okay.
00:39:46Do whatever you need to do.
00:39:47Okay?
00:39:54You drive.
00:39:55Good practice.
00:39:56Good practice.
00:39:56I can't believe we have Murray for French.
00:40:17She was old when I was in her class.
00:40:20I can't wait to hear who you have for homeroom.
00:40:23Mm-hmm.
00:40:23Okay.
00:40:24Oh.
00:40:26I got you a donut.
00:40:29Thanks.
00:40:31So I heard that got rid of the chairs.
00:40:33Uh, yeah.
00:40:33Just for the end of the routine.
00:40:35Oh.
00:40:37How did you hear that?
00:40:39It gets around.
00:40:42Right.
00:40:43Stuff does get around.
00:40:45And Coach Nicole's daughter, Hannah?
00:40:48She's sitting on your knee?
00:40:49Hey, Mom, can you move the donut?
00:40:50I just ate, and people are starting to talk about the...
00:40:54Yeah, you know what that tells me?
00:40:56The chair thing, her sitting on you?
00:40:58It tells me that they see you like furniture.
00:41:00You know, they're treating you like furniture.
00:41:02Making the girls sit on you.
00:41:03Sit on you!
00:41:04You know?
00:41:04Like, I mean, you have to be blind not to see it.
00:41:07Their asses are on you.
00:41:08Tell me, it's really not like that.
00:41:09And Queen Hannah and her mom, I mean, they're laughing at us.
00:41:12You know, they think that we want to be like them.
00:41:14Damn, this won't be.
00:41:15Stop it, Mom!
00:41:16Whoa.
00:41:17Bryce, Ellen!
00:41:18You're making everything worse, okay?
00:41:19You're making everything terrible.
00:41:21Take a deep breath, okay?
00:41:22You're all over the road.
00:41:23You can't keep trying to run my life like this.
00:41:26Okay, you know what I'm hearing?
00:41:28You spied on practices.
00:41:30And you tried to run over Tyler.
00:41:32Okay, I ran him down.
00:41:33I did not run him over.
00:41:34I told you not to do anything.
00:41:37Okay, you have to let me live my own life.
00:41:39I tried.
00:41:40Okay, that's how we got here.
00:41:42You live your own life.
00:41:43You make mistakes.
00:41:43You associate with bad people.
00:41:45Take advantage of you.
00:41:46You cringe and smile and let people use you.
00:41:49Then let me.
00:41:50Let me make my own mistakes.
00:41:52Oh, like my mom did?
00:41:53No guidance?
00:41:54No help?
00:41:55Just a house full of trash?
00:41:56Just letting me date whoever?
00:41:59No, I will not apologize for helping you.
00:42:02Okay, and here's the help.
00:42:02Get rid of Tyler.
00:42:05I know a shoddy product when I see one.
00:42:07Hannah and her mom, too.
00:42:09Mom, Tyler is good to me.
00:42:12I mean, seriously, give me one good reason that Tyler is so terrible.
00:42:15He even passed your stupid test.
00:42:17I didn't want him to pass my test.
00:42:18I wanted him to leave.
00:42:22I knew it.
00:42:23I knew that, Mom.
00:42:27You want to be the only person who cares about me.
00:42:29The only person that I can rely on.
00:42:31What?
00:42:31So that I have no one else to do?
00:42:32I am the only one you can rely on.
00:42:41Grace.
00:42:43Listen.
00:42:46I didn't want to tell you this.
00:42:49Tyler is cheating on you.
00:42:55What?
00:42:55With your supposed new best friend, Hannah.
00:42:59The one that sits on you like furniture.
00:43:03They're together and they're laughing at you.
00:43:08And I have proof.
00:43:09And I have proof.
00:43:33And I have proof.
00:43:33Come on in.
00:43:46Sweet setup.
00:43:48Thanks.
00:43:50With seven younger siblings, we're kind of forced to share.
00:43:56So, I didn't want to text since if anything accidentally gets into Grace's phone.
00:44:02It gets to Mom.
00:44:04Right. Which is scary.
00:44:06You see her more than me. Is she really nuts?
00:44:10She's not not nuts. Everything she does...
00:44:14You know she tries to make Grace think no one likes her?
00:44:17They're all, like, tricking her?
00:44:19We love Grace. That's crazy.
00:44:21Unless you answer your own question.
00:44:23Okay, well, that totally sets up my idea.
00:44:25I thought of something we could do for her,
00:44:27but I'd need you to bring us something of hers.
00:44:30If it's her hairs and fingernails for her pagan curse, I'm right out.
00:44:34It's not. It's good. You'll see.
00:44:37Right after practice tomorrow.
00:44:39I'ma blow your mind with this history.
00:44:53Woo! That was great!
00:44:55Okay, hold on, everyone. I have an announcement.
00:44:58I know it's last minute, but we're gonna change some things.
00:45:06I know that. Those are my batons. They were in my basement.
00:45:10I heard you were kind of a whiz with these things.
00:45:12We've never used them before, but you're gonna be our first.
00:45:16The bit at the end where everyone is arms up,
00:45:18we're gonna switch it to arms down.
00:45:20Except for Grace.
00:45:21She's gonna take a big step forward
00:45:23and give us a big high baton toss, okay?
00:45:26Crowd-pleasing spotlight moment.
00:45:29You've earned it.
00:45:30Oh, my God. Thank you. Yes, thank you so much.
00:45:32Thank you all so much.
00:45:38You knew. You knew.
00:45:40And you got my batons for me.
00:45:42I can offer.
00:45:49Well, the listing doesn't say that you're promoting from within.
00:45:51It says that it's open.
00:45:53Okay, okay, fine.
00:45:57You were wrong.
00:45:58Well, hello to you, too.
00:45:59Hi, Mom. How was your day?
00:46:01Oh, it's great. I'm trying this new pasta cooker.
00:46:03Mom, it's so inspiring how you're always trying new things.
00:46:05Look, Tyler and Hannah did hang out, okay?
00:46:07And if you really think that you have proof,
00:46:09that's all that it proves.
00:46:11Mom, they were planning a surprise just for me.
00:46:13I bet.
00:46:14Hey, is this done?
00:46:15Try it.
00:46:18Not even remotely.
00:46:20This damn thing isn't worth a damn.
00:46:24Mom, did you hear me?
00:46:27They're giving me that big spotlight moment at the opening game.
00:46:29I mean, Tyler even surprised me by bringing me my baton,
00:46:32and it was such a perfect moment.
00:46:34He was in our basement?
00:46:36What?
00:46:37Look, Mom, the point is, is not only is Tyler not cheating on me,
00:46:42the team also believes in me, and they feel like I belong there,
00:46:45which is what you said would make you happy all along, right?
00:46:48All their hands go down, and mine go up, and it's all set up.
00:46:51Set up.
00:46:55What?
00:46:56Set up. It's a set up. They're setting you up.
00:46:58What are you talking about?
00:47:01It's like that movie Carrie.
00:47:03You remember we saw that movie?
00:47:05They take some loser, and they make her think she's having some fancy moment in the spotlight,
00:47:09and then they dump pig's blood all over her, or something.
00:47:11You know, it happens all the time.
00:47:13Pig's blood?
00:47:14Well, not actual pig's blood. That was in the movie.
00:47:17But, you know, like laughing and pointing.
00:47:21Enough is enough. You need to quit that team.
00:47:24What?
00:47:26It was your idea. You've said it numerous times.
00:47:28No, but you told me to stay in. Mom, I can't quit now.
00:47:31I'd be letting down the whole team.
00:47:33You know, I have tried and tried and tried to fix this,
00:47:35but I cannot fix everything you break.
00:47:37I did not break this, Mom.
00:47:39You're the one that's making everything go wrong.
00:47:41Listen, Tyler said that if you just let me handle things and just...
00:47:44Oh, Tyler says. Tyler says. Do you hear yourself?
00:47:47I mean, he's got you so brainwashed.
00:47:49Both of you, you and Queen Hannah, and those two, I'm telling you,
00:47:52they are laughing, they're blowing each other.
00:47:54You're just making stuff up, Mom.
00:47:57I mean, you genuinely cannot handle anything good happening to me
00:48:02unless you handed it to me.
00:48:04You hint that I need to lose weight and then you're handing me cookies and donuts.
00:48:07Why? Just to prove that I have no self-control?
00:48:11You said it. I didn't.
00:48:15That's, Mom, that's nuts.
00:48:18You know, I think that finally is starting to get you.
00:48:25If something goes wrong for me, you're just a little bit happy
00:48:28because it proves that I'm a screw-up, right?
00:48:31But if something goes right for me,
00:48:33then you just have to ruin my life on purpose.
00:48:36That's insane.
00:48:37Yeah. Yeah, Mom, it is insane.
00:48:40You've been ruining my life and then pretending to fix it.
00:48:44You say that you're a lawnmower, Mom, but you're a landmine.
00:48:51Who told you that?
00:48:52Was it Coach Nicole?
00:48:54Or was it Tyler?
00:48:55Or Tyler and Hannah?
00:48:56Look, I'm telling you, those two are doing it, okay?
00:48:58I'm gonna prove it.
00:48:59They're not gonna like it, but I'm gonna prove it.
00:49:00Well, stop it! You're being crazy!
00:49:02And if you love me at all, don't do anything!
00:49:09And most importantly, don't come to the game.
00:49:19Don't go to the game?
00:49:24You heard me.
00:49:25You heard me.
00:49:55Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!
00:50:01Shawty! Shawty! Shawty! Shawty!
00:50:16This does seem really solid.
00:50:19Perfect for personal defense.
00:50:21I'll take it.
00:50:25I need to protect my family.
00:50:27Let me get the paper.
00:50:28It's opening day for the Threshers football team.
00:50:34Facing off against the Marstown Wildcats tonight at 7.
00:50:37Hop on over to catch a pop of dog in the premiere performance of this year's Thresherettes.
00:50:42It's opening day for the Threshers football team facing off against the Marstown Wildcats tonight at 7.
00:50:51Hop on over to catch a pop of dog in the premiere performance of this year's Thresherettes.
00:50:56The pressure is...
00:51:26Tyler?
00:51:33Tyler!
00:51:56Anyone?
00:52:02Tyler?
00:52:07Anyone?
00:52:09I don't know.
00:52:15Tyler?
00:52:21Tyler?
00:52:24Anyone?
00:52:51Of course he's not home.
00:53:16He's with her.
00:53:21Are you in there, little Mr. Tyler man?
00:53:46Hannah, we have to be out of here in 20.
00:53:48I've got to be on the field a half hour before anyone else, because, you know, if I'm not
00:53:54there, they're not going to put out the right chairs.
00:53:58Oh, and the cat barfed in the kitchen, and I stepped in it, so I'm going to borrow your
00:54:01shoes.
00:54:04Hannah, are you hearing me?
00:54:06Damn it, where did I put my phone?
00:54:08Oh.
00:54:14Oh, hell, what is this?
00:54:17Hannah, I just got a text from Grace.
00:54:21Can you take a look at it and tell me if it's real?
00:54:25Hi.
00:54:25Is, uh, is Tyler here?
00:54:29Tyler?
00:54:30Tyler Tolson?
00:54:31Or, uh, Hannah, is Hannah here?
00:54:33I'm sorry, who are you?
00:54:34Oh my god, mom, I can't hear what you're saying from up there, it's just all yell, yell, yell.
00:54:39We have, um, and she's asking for you.
00:54:44Um, yeah, I mean, hello?
00:54:47Who are you again?
00:54:48You're going to help me.
00:54:52You know Tyler, right?
00:54:53You're with Tyler?
00:54:54Oh my god, what do you want?
00:54:56We have money, we have money in the house.
00:54:58Are you running from something?
00:54:59The police?
00:55:00We can let you out the back.
00:55:01Let my mom go.
00:55:02No, no, no, let my daughter go.
00:55:03She won't tell anyone.
00:55:05No, we, we won't tell anyone.
00:55:07No.
00:55:07Neither of us are going to say anything if you leave.
00:55:12We're going to go for a ride.
00:55:13No, never get in the car, never get in the car.
00:55:16My mom has bare feet.
00:55:17You can't make her go out on the gravel in the car.
00:55:20What if there's glass?
00:55:22My shoes, they're just in the kitchen.
00:55:23I could just go grab them.
00:55:24The cat barfed and I stepped in and it was everywhere.
00:55:26It was a mess.
00:55:27Stop talking.
00:55:29All right, go get your shoes.
00:55:32Run, mom, run!
00:55:34Get help!
00:55:40Okay.
00:55:42Is she coming back?
00:55:47You're Grace's mom.
00:55:50No.
00:55:51Yes, you are!
00:55:52Mrs. Fenwick!
00:55:53My God, why are you doing this?
00:55:56Because it needs to be done.
00:55:59Okay, I don't need her.
00:56:00I need you.
00:56:00You're the one that can get me to Tyler.
00:56:02Come on, let's go.
00:56:02We're going for that ride.
00:56:03Let's go.
00:56:04Open the door.
00:56:05Open it!
00:56:05My mom's probably at one of the neighbors now.
00:56:16We could go find her.
00:56:18Don't you want her to?
00:56:19No, no, no, no, no.
00:56:20You're all I need.
00:56:21Let's go.
00:56:22Let's go get in the car.
00:56:23You're young people, I swear.
00:56:25You make it like no one's time means anything, but...
00:56:27Get in the car.
00:56:29Get...
00:56:29You can't run faster than a bullet.
00:56:33I can shout.
00:56:35You can't shout faster than a bullet, either.
00:56:37In!
00:56:37In, in, in!
00:56:38Come on, Mrs. Fenwick.
00:56:39You aren't going to shoot me.
00:56:42Once we find Tyler, then you're together.
00:56:44You can both come clean.
00:56:46Okay?
00:56:47I know you've been sneaking around.
00:56:48Everyone knows it.
00:56:50All right, get in the car.
00:56:50I'm not going to say it again.
00:56:53In.
00:56:54There.
00:56:56On your buckle up.
00:57:01Call the police!
00:57:02Please!
00:57:03Help!
00:57:04Somebody!
00:57:05Help!
00:57:06Help me!
00:57:07Somebody help me!
00:57:08Somebody call the police!
00:57:10Somebody call the police!
00:57:12Dad?
00:57:13She did it again.
00:57:15I didn't send this text.
00:57:16Ooh, what's it say?
00:57:17Shh, buddy.
00:57:18Let the ladies work it out.
00:57:20Dad, she told Coach Nicole that I quit the team.
00:57:22Heh.
00:57:23That's crazy.
00:57:24I mean, nobody's going to believe that you're quitting the team on the night of the game.
00:57:27Damn it, damn it, damn it.
00:57:28I've got to call the coach.
00:57:29She's not picking up.
00:57:46Why is she not picking up?
00:57:47Honey, just calm down.
00:57:49Breathe, all right?
00:57:50I mean, maybe she's just swamp setting everything up.
00:57:52I mean, these games are really big deals in these small towns.
00:57:55I'm from Columbus.
00:57:57Yes, you are, buddy.
00:57:58Big city fell in the car.
00:57:59Why is Mom texting anyway?
00:58:02Is she going to come to the game?
00:58:04Is she going to do something?
00:58:05No, honey.
00:58:06Listen, I talked to her.
00:58:08She heard you about not coming to tonight's game, and she gets why it's a good idea.
00:58:13She knows she got carried away and that she needs to step back.
00:58:17And that text, listen, you know, maybe that's just her blowing off the last little bit of steam,
00:58:21or maybe that text just got caught in the tubes, you know?
00:58:24I mean, nobody's going to believe you're quitting tonight, right?
00:58:26Yeah, yeah, I guess.
00:58:31Okay, so listen, honey, I'm going to park the car, and then we'll give her a call, and we'll check in, all right?
00:58:37Okay, yeah.
00:58:39Yeah, thanks.
00:58:42But, Dad, where is she?
00:58:44I mean, where did she go?
00:58:56You don't have to do this.
00:59:20I can just tell you, Tyler and I aren't anything.
00:59:28He's with Grace, and she's my friend.
00:59:31Some friend.
00:59:38This is my husband.
00:59:40Be quiet.
00:59:44Hey, hon.
00:59:45Hey, sorry about what happened with you.
00:59:47No, no, no, all good.
00:59:48We're going to miss you at the game.
00:59:49Yeah, if I'm home by 9 p.m., we can have a late supper, if that sounds good.
00:59:54Yeah, yeah, that sounds good.
00:59:56Um, Grace said that you sent a text to the coach.
01:00:00Yeah.
01:00:01Tell Grace I'm sorry, okay?
01:00:03I didn't mean it.
01:00:03Yeah, okay.
01:00:04Okay, will do.
01:00:05I love you.
01:00:06Okay, love you all.
01:00:06Have fun.
01:00:07Later.
01:00:07Help, help me!
01:00:08Okay, buddy.
01:00:27Dad?
01:00:28She's okay, right?
01:00:30She said she's sorry, and that she loves you.
01:00:32Okay?
01:00:33Listen, hon, I just think that being back here in this town, you know, she was such a big
01:00:36deal, and it just got her all riled up, and, you know, I just, listen, she was a big star,
01:00:43and I just think it's all gotten to her, you know?
01:00:45So, you talked to her, you called her out, she heard you, she's going to be okay.
01:00:51Okay.
01:00:52Okay?
01:00:52Yeah.
01:00:52Thanks for calling me.
01:00:54Well, of course.
01:00:55All right, let's go inside and show them our team spirit.
01:00:57What do you say, buddy?
01:00:58Thrasher!
01:00:58Thrasher!
01:01:00Let's do it.
01:01:00You're going to be a star, honey.
01:01:02Bye.
01:01:15Go, go, go, go, go!
01:01:45That's better.
01:01:59Yeah.
01:02:03I should come here more often.
01:02:05There are treasures here.
01:02:15You'll find this interesting.
01:02:26This is probably all the same stuff that you'll keep, you know, because you're a head dancer
01:02:29like I was.
01:02:31We, we don't...
01:02:32I know, I know.
01:02:33You don't have a head dancer.
01:02:35You're front and center.
01:02:36We both know what that means.
01:02:42I hope you're keeping your costumes.
01:02:44You know, they make little changes, like these stars here, you know, they don't have these
01:02:49anymore.
01:02:51You know, and if you don't have it, then you'll forget.
01:02:55Try it on.
01:02:57Um, what?
01:02:59Try it on.
01:03:00You know, it doesn't fit Grace.
01:03:02She has no self-control, but, you know, it should fit you perfectly.
01:03:07Oh, I, I don't, I don't know.
01:03:09Oh, I've been thinking.
01:03:10I know why we couldn't find Tyler.
01:03:12Slopped my forehead.
01:03:12I should have realized.
01:03:13He'll be at the game.
01:03:15You know, he, he's gonna want to laugh at Grace or string her along a little more.
01:03:19So, uh, you know, we'll just have to catch up with Tyler later.
01:03:22But, um, what do you want to do?
01:03:26I mean, we got time to kill.
01:03:28Let's have some fun.
01:03:29We've cleared it.
01:03:41You can come in.
01:03:42Nothing from Hannah.
01:03:50Oh, God.
01:03:51You can look around, but we don't think your perpetrator went further into the house.
01:03:55No, no, she didn't.
01:03:56I heard the engine, and they left right away.
01:03:58We have to find them.
01:04:00We have to get out there right now.
01:04:01Ma'am, ma'am, we have a lookout for a woman with the description you gave us.
01:04:05If you wait here, we're gonna be out turning the town upside down.
01:04:08No, I am going with you.
01:04:09You're taking me with you.
01:04:10Come on.
01:04:30Hey.
01:04:30Hey, Tyler.
01:04:31Hey, Tyler.
01:04:32I have a hot dog.
01:04:33You sure do.
01:04:35Did you hear?
01:04:36The coach and her daughter didn't show yet.
01:04:38It's chaos down there.
01:04:40Is that right?
01:04:41Oh, opening night.
01:04:43Parking nightmare.
01:04:44Right.
01:04:46Grace is gonna dance, though.
01:04:47That's right, buddy.
01:04:48Grace is gonna dance the best.
01:04:53We got the chair!
01:04:54We got the chair!
01:05:01Hannah's the problem.
01:05:02We can do it without coach, but Hannah is...
01:05:04It's okay.
01:05:05It's just a hole in the line.
01:05:06We'll just move where we stand.
01:05:07It's okay.
01:05:08Yeah, we could share, but...
01:05:09We need an even number.
01:05:16Kat?
01:05:18You know, you've...
01:05:19You've been to, like, all the practices.
01:05:24Me?
01:05:25Yes, come on!
01:05:26No, uh, this isn't what I...
01:05:31Books.
01:05:33No, you know the routine, though, right?
01:05:38Okay, but I need a uniform.
01:05:39I have my old uniform.
01:05:40Nice.
01:05:53Good fit, actually.
01:05:56You look like me.
01:05:58Well, do a kick.
01:06:01I'm not warmed up yet.
01:06:02You know, we've got time.
01:06:02You know, we've got time.
01:06:03You know, we're gonna find Tyler, we're gonna have to wait until after the game, and it hasn't even started yet.
01:06:14And now, your halftime entertainment continues with The Presser End.
01:06:32Your mom, Nicole, or Coach Nicole now, I guess, I bet you think she's protective, but she has to care about everyone, and you can't care about everyone.
01:06:48I'm not the coach to a bunch of girls. I'm the mom to one person. I protect her.
01:06:55Don't you have a son?
01:06:57A son? What's he gonna do that's interesting?
01:07:03Um, right.
01:07:05Look at this.
01:07:07My yearbook from junior year.
01:07:09I'm in 14 pages of this thing.
01:07:12How many pages do you think Grace will have? Like, like, three, if that?
01:07:18Look, chess club.
01:07:23I'm smart. Everyone forgets that I'm smart.
01:07:26You know, I see the board. I see the other guy's mistakes.
01:07:30You know, I was editor of the school paper. We had zero retractions that year because of me.
01:07:34Hell, I was the one cleaning the whole house when I was, like, ten because my mom was a damn hoarder.
01:07:39You know, and now I take care of Grace.
01:07:42You know, that's all I am. I have nothing of my own.
01:07:44Well, you warmed up?
01:07:52Show me what you can do.
01:07:53I'm so good at winning, baby.
01:08:11Pour a glass, cause it's so damn crazy.
01:08:14I'm just like milk, cause I'm so damn good.
01:08:17I read your mind with just a look.
01:08:19I read you like I wrote this book.
01:08:22You know, I would have looked you up.
01:08:26I can lock it up, cause I'm so damn ready.
01:08:29I'm a chain, I'm a sinner, I'm a mystery.
01:08:32I'm a future, I'm a past, I'm your history.
01:08:34Okay.
01:08:40Good.
01:08:41Nice, actually.
01:08:44Drop splits?
01:08:46You're warmed up?
01:08:47I don't, we don't do those anymore.
01:08:49My mom took them out.
01:08:50It tears up your hips.
01:08:52That's stupid.
01:08:54People love drop splits.
01:08:56You know, I could do them and my smile would never falter.
01:08:58You could snap off my leg and my smile would stay there.
01:09:00You know, it really is all in how you carry yourself.
01:09:05You know what I would do if I were you?
01:09:07I would do the drop splits anyway.
01:09:09Yeah.
01:09:10You know?
01:09:12Everyone else is just standing there and year out, split in the ground.
01:09:15Like a winner, the crowd goes crazy.
01:09:18You know?
01:09:19Because, listen, you aren't gonna be Queen Bee forever.
01:09:22Okay?
01:09:23Trust me on this.
01:09:23It goes away in an instant.
01:09:26You know, and guys, don't even get me started on the guys, okay?
01:09:28Guys your age, you're all pimple-popping losers.
01:09:32You know, so you figure, oh, just do better.
01:09:33You know what that gets you?
01:09:35Jealousy.
01:09:38And any kind of local fame, it goes fast.
01:09:41Okay, everyone knows you and then no one knows you.
01:09:44I was a star and now nobody even recognizes me.
01:09:48You wore a disguise.
01:09:52Yeah, and nobody listens.
01:09:54The kids don't listen.
01:09:55The husband doesn't listen.
01:09:56The school board pretends to listen, but then they just crap all over me.
01:10:00You know, and Coach Megan, she says I'm still living in high school.
01:10:04Well, life is high school.
01:10:05You know, I have the answers and nobody calls on me.
01:10:10I'm so sorry.
01:10:12That sounds terrible.
01:10:13You know, girls like you and me, it is crucial that we make good choices.
01:10:23You know, you pick the wrong guy, and Tyler isn't just the wrong guy for Grace.
01:10:26He's the wrong guy for you, too.
01:10:28And then you turn down the scholarship, and you stay in town, and you have kids.
01:10:34And oh, boy, yeah, then, you know, your life is only as good as your kids, right?
01:10:38And then you just spend all your time, like, fixing and fixing and fixing.
01:10:41And that's what all that hard work in high school got you.
01:10:44You know, life turns you into a lawnmower when you could have been anything.
01:10:56This is good.
01:10:57This is good.
01:10:59You know, we're cut from the same cloth.
01:11:03You.
01:11:03You, I can help.
01:11:28You know, Grace hates me.
01:11:32It hurts.
01:11:33Do you know that she asked me not to come to the game tonight?
01:11:38I'm sorry.
01:11:42I used to lie to my mother.
01:11:44I'd tell her the game was canceled or rained out,
01:11:47so she wouldn't show up in her dirty house dress and her rolled-down socks,
01:11:49everyone figuring out who she was.
01:11:51But I never told her not to come.
01:11:53You know, that's just cruel.
01:11:55You can't come back from that.
01:11:57That's the abyss.
01:11:58But I don't know.
01:11:59I don't know.
01:12:00And maybe, maybe sometimes you want the abyss to dive into, you know?
01:12:06You know, you want to mess it up so bad you can't fix it.
01:12:08Because you can't exist where things are that bad.
01:12:11You know, because if you can't fix it, then you don't have to try.
01:12:13And that's the only way to rest.
01:12:14That's the only damn way to rest!
01:12:16Mrs. Fenwick, what if we put on some music?
01:12:20I, you, we could dance?
01:12:30What?
01:12:35How are we going to fix this?
01:12:40Look at this.
01:12:41We're in a storage unit.
01:12:44You're in a damn costume.
01:12:47There's a gun.
01:12:58How do we come back?
01:13:01There's no coming back.
01:13:03There's no fixing!
01:13:04Stop!
01:13:04Stop!
01:13:05Why can't you see what's going to happen?
01:13:12Why didn't you try to make it right?
01:13:13I'm a saint, I'm a sinner, I'm a mystery.
01:13:26I'm a future, I'm a past, I'm your history.
01:13:29I'm unstoppable, just like to dig me.
01:13:31Let's go, Red!
01:13:33Come on, Red!
01:13:34You went too far!
01:13:41You made me do this!
01:13:47I can't go back!
01:13:49It can't be fixed!
01:13:51Too far!
01:13:53Too far!
01:13:55Too far!
01:14:04Too far!
01:14:24It can't be fixed!
01:14:25It's so hard!
01:14:26You guys are going to know it!
01:14:27It's so hard.
01:14:28You guys are going to know it!
01:14:29And now, you guys want to know it!
01:14:29You guys are going to know it!
01:14:30You guys are going to know it!
01:14:31It's so hard!
01:14:31No!
01:14:32No!
01:14:33No!
01:14:34No!
01:14:35No!
01:14:40Okay.
01:14:47Okay.
01:15:01Okay.
01:15:31Okay.
01:15:48Hey!
01:15:49Oh my god, look at that.
01:16:05Oh my goodness.
01:16:08So, Hannah and her mom, they never shave?
01:16:19Oh, my goodness.
01:16:32Oh my goodness.
01:16:36Oh.
01:16:40Someone lock you in!
01:16:47Hello.
01:16:48Hey.
01:16:49Why can't you throw off the chicken?
01:16:50Oh, the chicken!
01:16:51Oh!
01:16:52Where's the star chicken?
01:16:53Okay.
01:16:54Okay.
01:16:55Got it!
01:16:56Alright guys, let's leave the table set.
01:16:58You want to go?
01:16:59Alright, let's leave the table set.
01:17:00You want to go?
01:17:01Okay.
01:17:02Okay.
01:17:03Okay.
01:17:04Okay.
01:17:05Okay.
01:17:06Okay.
01:17:07Okay.
01:17:08Okay.
01:17:09Alright.
01:17:10Okay.
01:17:11Okay.
01:17:12Okay.
01:17:13Got it!
01:17:14Alright guys, let's leave the table set.
01:17:15Do you want to get the napkins and everything ready?
01:17:16Yeah, I got it.
01:17:17Alright, great.
01:17:18Chicken!
01:17:19Oh, that smells so good.
01:17:20Where's the bread?
01:17:21I got the bread here.
01:17:22Oh, there it is.
01:17:23Who's on the table?
01:17:24Hey, honey.
01:17:25I'm sorry I was so late.
01:17:26Please tell me how the performance went.
01:17:27Were you brilliant?
01:17:28I'm sure you were.
01:17:29It was.
01:17:30It was.
01:17:31It was really good.
01:17:32Coach Nicole and Hannah didn't show up, which is really weird.
01:17:34Hmm.
01:17:35That is weird.
01:17:36Oh, well, I'm sure it was great.
01:17:38Oh, well, I'm sure it was great.
01:17:43Thanks.
01:17:44And, um, Mom, I'm really sorry.
01:17:48I should have never told you not to come to the game.
01:17:52That was too far.
01:17:53I'm sorry.
01:17:55I understand.
01:17:58You know, I used the time to think through a lot of stuff.
01:18:03Really hashed through it.
01:18:05And I can see now that I was acting a little crazy.
01:18:10Yeah?
01:18:13You know, and from now on, I am hands off.
01:18:17Okay?
01:18:19Okay.
01:18:20Okay.
01:18:21And, hey, Mom, next time, I really do want you at the game.
01:18:27I would love that.
01:18:31All right, y'all.
01:18:32Supper is ready.
01:18:33Disturbance.
01:18:34Fourth and Lincoln, female in some kind of costume.
01:18:35That's Hannah.
01:18:36Let's go.
01:18:37Fourth and Lincoln is out by the PokéDot.
01:18:38It's just going to be some old drunk lady.
01:18:39This town has got, what, like, two cop cars?
01:18:40If you don't go, then who's going to even check on it?
01:18:41Please.
01:18:42In case it's her, please, let's go.
01:18:43Okay.
01:18:44This town has got, what, like, two cop cars?
01:18:45If you don't go, then who's going to even check on it?
01:18:46Please.
01:18:47In case it's her.
01:18:48Please, let's go.
01:18:49This town has got, what, like, two cop cars?
01:18:51If you don't go, then who's going to even check on it?
01:18:52Please.
01:18:53In case it's her, please, let's go.
01:19:20Oh my god, it's her!
01:19:41It's her!
01:19:42Pull over!
01:19:43Oh my god, we found her!
01:19:51Mom!
01:19:52Hannah!
01:19:53I knew you were worried.
01:19:56I'm so, so, so sorry.
01:19:58Are you okay?
01:20:00What are you wearing?
01:20:03What are these bruises?
01:20:06What's happening?
01:20:08What happened?
01:20:10Elizabeth Fenwick.
01:20:15That's who it was.
01:20:17Go find Elizabeth Fenwick.
01:20:20I'll go straighten this all out, okay?
01:20:22This is a mistake.
01:20:23I was just telling Officer Peggy I know what this is about.
01:20:26This is about my daughter, Grace.
01:20:28What?
01:20:29Mom, what are you talking about?
01:20:30She got involved in some small town frenzy.
01:20:32You know, someone saw you out there tonight.
01:20:34They didn't like that you got led on the team.
01:20:36You're gonna have to come with us.
01:20:37No!
01:20:38It's okay, buddy.
01:20:39She'll be home by the time you wake up.
01:20:40I will.
01:20:41I'm gonna straighten this all out, okay?
01:20:42I'm coming willingly.
01:20:43No, Mom!
01:20:44You didn't do anything!
01:20:45Please!
01:20:46Mom!
01:20:47Please!
01:20:50You guys are making a mistake!
01:20:51I'll make some calls!
01:20:53You're making your mistake!
01:20:54It's a big mistake!
01:20:56I can't see anybody!
01:20:57You have to be afraid.
01:20:58Anyway, I had to leave the door and drive.
01:20:59You have to walk away.
01:21:00I'm a kitty!
01:21:01I'm a kitty!
01:21:02I'm a kitty!
01:21:03You're a kitty, girl!
01:21:04I'm a kitty!
01:21:06I'm a kitty!
01:21:07You have to let me.
01:21:08You're a kitty!
01:21:09I'm a kitty!
01:21:10I'm a kitty!
01:21:11She'll be brown!
01:21:12I'm a kitty!
01:21:13She wants to meet!
01:21:14I'm a kitty!
01:21:15I'm a kitty!
01:21:16I freely admit my actions and apologize to the Lee family with my whole heart.
01:21:41I only ask for your compassion.
01:21:43Because what I did, I did out of love for my daughter.
01:21:46I thought she was making mistakes, and when she did, it gave me something to do, which
01:21:52I did in the worst possible way.
01:21:57And if I'm given the chance to live, to live freely again, I'll let Grace live her life
01:22:06and make her mistakes, or not.
01:22:10And I'll live mine, and work to fix my own mistakes.
01:22:25Elizabeth Fenwick, on the charge of attempted murder, the court finds you guilty.
01:22:33The sentence will be determined at a later date.
01:22:35Oh, you're looking good, Jackson.
01:23:00I think you might actually be a little taller.
01:23:01I am taller.
01:23:02Dad drew a new line on the wall.
01:23:04It sure did.
01:23:10You're looking good.
01:23:12And fresh-faced.
01:23:15You know, the first time I met your mother, who was at the gym, and she was wearing no makeup,
01:23:20and I thought, wow, she looked like that right out of the box.
01:23:23No, no memory stuff.
01:23:27I'm trying to live in the here and now.
01:23:30But I want to hear all about you, Grace.
01:23:33Any acceptances?
01:23:35Two.
01:23:36I mean, community college, and kind of a borderline thing from ISU.
01:23:41I'd still have to submit some more stuff.
01:23:44You'll do it?
01:23:44You'll get in.
01:23:48I mean, you're going to have to do it without my help, but it's probably better that way.
01:23:54You know, that's, um, that's how we got here to begin with.
01:23:57Mom, I know that things were hard then, but I want you to know that every day there's something
01:24:10that I wish that you were there for.
01:24:13I wish that I had your advice.
01:24:21You'll be fine.
01:24:23You know, you're going to figure it out.
01:24:25And if you make mistakes, that is absolutely fine.
01:24:55Hey.
01:25:09You can have my cookie from lunch if you want.
01:25:13Having trouble settling in?
01:25:15I can help.
01:25:20You know, I think if you just carried yourself a little better, you might get more respect
01:25:25around here.
01:25:27You know, just shoulders back, head up, and a little smile never hurts.
01:25:34There you go.
01:25:35It's better.
01:25:36You know, it's better.
01:25:38Bye.
01:25:42Bye.
01:25:42Bye.
01:25:43Bye.
01:25:43Bye.
01:25:49Bye.
01:25:53Bye.
01:25:58Bye.
01:26:01Bye.
01:26:02Bye.
01:26:03Bye.
