India’s government confirmed on Wednesday (November 12) that the car explosion outside Delhi’s historic Red Fort which killed eight people and injured at least twenty others was being treated as a terror attack.
Authorities say the blast, which rocked the capital on Monday evening, was the first major explosion in Delhi since 2011. Police are probing potential links to a recent arrest of seven men from Kashmir found with arms and bomb-making materials.
A government statement called the explosion a “heinous terror incident perpetrated by anti-national forces”, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet vowed to bring those responsible to justice “with the utmost urgency and professionalism.”

05:45What? Well, you were there.

05:57in front of gate number one, at least 10 to 12 vehicles, including three, four, five, six,
06:03were burning, and behind the burning, a bus was also parked. One was an Ola or cab driver. Those poor
06:10guys came out bleeding. We also helped some people. We should also help as much as we can. After that,
06:15there was a driver and another driver. It was a car. Those people were in it. I mean, they were pulled
06:22out from there and somehow they were taken out and then they had probably died. Yes sir, nothing
