Former England striker Michael Owen reflects on the stellar careers of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
Transcript
00:00He's probably going to go down as one of the greatest players ever.
00:03You don't necessarily need to win every single trophy and do every single thing to be that.
00:11And on the flip side, if I had won it and been so good in the tournament like Messi has been,
00:16then of course that has to be a highlight of anybody's career to win a trophy for your national team.
00:21So I understand both people saying separate things.
00:23There can be no arguments how good these two players have been for the last 20 years.
00:27They've literally been a shining light for football and been so far ahead of every other player for so long.
00:33It's quite incredible.
00:34So I don't think any of them will really retire with any regrets.
00:37They've been wonderful for a long time.
00:41And if it is their last major tournament, then what a lovely way to go out.
