00:00By the looks of things, Hagar, that meeting between President al-Shara and President Trump was pretty successful, wasn't it?
00:09It was successful for what the administration was trying to achieve, yes.
00:12You know, for me, I was spokesperson at the Treasury Department when we sanctioned al-Shara, then Mohammed al-Jolani.
00:19So it was a bit jarring to see him being welcomed at the White House.
00:23But at the same time, he's proving to say the right things and he wants to be a pragmatic leader.
00:28And that works very well with the Trump administration.
00:31And President Trump wanted a low-key meeting where they could talk seriously and try to achieve certain goals.
00:38And they did. Syria agreed to join the counter-ISIS coalition.
00:41They agreed to encompass or include the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Kurds, better into the army.
00:48And Trump pledged to support Syria-Israel talks for a security agreement specifically.
00:55So it was for sure for, by all accounts, a successful meeting.
