00:00We know that this has been kind of brewing since May the 13th,
00:03but Ahmad al-Shirah was until recently on the U.S. sanctions list.
00:07What has changed? What's made this partnership possible as of late?
00:10I mean, what changed is that I think that the world realized that Shira is the most effective
00:15at running this extremely sensitive time in Syria.
00:18I mean, we kind of disassociate the past 15 years and 50 years of how Syrians lived under the Assad regime,
00:26you know, the bloody war and the sectarian ideologies of divide and conquer.
00:33That leaves a big, big scar, and it's going to take generations for us to solve.
00:37And I think that the world sees that Shira is the most effective at this role,
00:43and he has shown that he has been with his pragmatism,
00:46strong and precise kind of aspects of running this transition that we are currently going through.
