00:00Hey, this is Real Talk Backstage on the set of Undercover Prison King.
00:10What's up Real Short, today I'm dressed in a prison jumpsuit because I'll be spending
00:33the day in prison.
00:36I'll be getting in a fight with the guards, which should be a lot of fun.
00:41Lots of stunt work today, so we'll see if this outfit still looks the same afterward.
00:45If we do things right, it should be torn to shreds because that means we went hard.
00:54Yesterday, I was wearing an EMT outfit, I was also wearing a guards outfit.
00:59There's another point where I wear a military outfit, so kind of like the master of disguise
01:05in this movie.
01:06I wear like six different outfits, constantly jumping from disguise to disguise.
01:14This tattoo, it's a marine tattoo right here.
01:18So this is like a symbol for the marines, and then we got an anchor right here.
01:21And then we've got, I think that's a corporal right there.
01:24And I swear they normally look better than this, they've been touched a lot.
01:28She designed all these, so this is like transfer paper.
01:32So it's not like your normal tattoo where you just stick it on with water, it's like she
01:35designs it, prints it on like this special paper, and then you use like glue to put it
01:39on, and then some water, it's really cool.
01:41What's up everybody, welcome to prison.
01:51You'll like it here, we got our barbed wire fences, just to make you feel at home.
01:57Everything's gated, cold.
01:59So this is a private prison, it doesn't currently house any prisoners, but what I hear the last
02:04time it housed prisoners was in 2012, which is cool.
02:07So I think mostly they just use it for filming now.
02:10Today we'll be filming inside of a cafeteria where I'll be getting in a fight with the
02:15guards at the prisons.
02:26So pretty much every morning without fail, I make this thing called a bulletproof coffee,
02:31which I prepare in here if you want to take a look.
02:36I'm a little bit neurotic about my morning routine.
02:39So basically this has MCT oil, collagen, ghee butter, cinnamon, lion's mane, ashwagandha,
02:45cacao, turmeric, Celtic salt.
02:48I might be missing something, but yeah, it's just a crazy little concoction that basically
02:52just like keeps me fueled until the afternoon.
02:55So this is usually my breakfast every day on and off set.
02:58This is Theo, by the way, he plays one of the corrupt prison guards.
03:01Don't let him fool you, he's a charming guy and he'll charm the pants off of you.
03:06But the problem is, is that's what the most corrupt prison guards know how to do.
03:08They train him that way.
03:09You claim to own the prison.
03:10Does he look like some older prison?
03:12That's the point.
03:13I don't believe him.
03:14If you believe him, you fool just like everybody else.
03:17Got it.
03:20All right.
03:21I'm going to pour.
03:22Here we go.
03:23And then you just got to shake it.
03:26So things like cinnamon and turmeric don't really mix well.
03:30So I have to look like a crazy person for a little bit where I just go and get it mixed in there.
03:37So then it comes out looking kind of like this.
03:40It's like a thick and the collagen I use is chocolate.
03:45So it gives it like a mocha-y kind of taste.
03:47Pretty good.
03:48And that's my morning routine.
03:50This is Eddie, our stunt coordinator.
03:53Super skilled stunts man.
03:55And they're filming it.
03:58So these are all the pads for falling.
04:00Usually you've got like knee pads.
04:02Sometimes they'll be pads across your chest for punches and falls and stuff.
04:06Yeah.
04:07But I don't need pads, Eddie said, because my arms are really strong.
04:10Okay.
04:11It was fun.
04:16We do them at Eddie's house and he has like a whole open living room kind of space to cracky stunts.
04:22Usually when I step on set, the thing that's going through my mind is like, okay, do we have any changes to the script?
04:41What's going on in the scenes?
04:43What are we shooting?
04:44What's the order?
04:44Today's a little different.
04:45There's not a lot of lines.
04:46It's mostly action.
04:48So I was driving to set thinking, okay, I'm going to want to stretch and warm up my body.
04:52Cause the last thing you want to do is injure yourself in the middle of the stunt scene.
05:11All right.
05:11What's up?
05:12We are at the cafeteria right now of the prison where a giant fight scene is about to take place.
05:18But before that, let me introduce you to our breakfast this evening.
05:21We'll be having a nice plate of oatmeal with a sourdough brioche toast, along with a honey crisp apple.
05:28We've got America's finest apple sauce along with California cows, organic hundred percent fat milk.
05:37We're bougie in this prison.
05:39One of the things that makes Troy a different character than any character I've ever played is his need to blend into a certain environment that he might be a fish out of water in.
05:59So a guy who's served in the Marines, who's comes from a wealthy family is now thrust into like the underworld of the prison system and all the corruption going on in there definitely is different than anything I've done.
06:10Some of the things that I did in preparation for the role, I did a lot of research on what it means to be a Marine and more specifically a Marine in the special ops.
06:19One of the things I wanted to include in this script that we have a little bit of is the problems with the modern day prison system.
06:26The U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world like we house hundreds of millions of people in our prisons.
06:34It's kind of baffling.
06:37Our rehabilitation process clearly doesn't work.
06:40So one of the ideas of this film is also to address that problem.
07:04I got a little bit of oatmeal in my ear after that.
07:26I think I got a little bit of my mouth too.
07:28So when you go home people say, how was your day?
07:30You can tell them you smashed your face in oatmeal.
07:32So we shot on a green screen right here and then they got a single shot of the guards running in slow motion.
07:51So the idea is that they're going to use that shot from the green screen and superimpose it on the slow-mo of the guards.
07:58So I'll turn to camera in real time and say the lines that I have while the guards are charging at me in slow motion.
08:05And then once I turn back, we'll both be same speed again.
08:08So that's kind of good.
08:10And that's how I ended up here about to give my employees a very poor performance review.
08:22Awesome work today.
08:39Wrap on day seven baby.
