People in Birmingham share their views on predictions that the average UK house price could reach around four hundred and forty thousand pounds by 2030. Is the government doing enough to keep homes affordable, or do we need to build more even if it means using more land?

00:00It's a really difficult one because obviously you don't want to like use all the land but I mean I know I'm on my own so I can't afford a house by myself and if the prices are going to keep going like I'm living with my parents forever so we're going to have to stay there.
00:14So it would be nice if the government could try and help us out a bit more that would be nice.
00:19We need to build more homes. I don't think they make it affordable at all. I think that's why we have so much homeless people and stuff. Yeah it has something to do with the drugs but I feel like they should help us out more.
00:32Build more homes, use more land to make it more affordable for people. It's very difficult for people to get a mortgage. We were lucky we had a lot of help so to get a mortgage but to help the younger generation today I think that they do need to build more homes.
