00:21They have a three-bed, two-bath, 1960s home

00:24that was actually remodeled before they bought it a few years ago.

00:27Funny how a house shrinks when a child comes along.

00:36Now we're here to give them a remodel that actually works for their growing family.

00:43They're going to be handing over their keys

00:45and letting us just be in there to work our magic alone,

00:53And I feel like we're going to really be able to do our thing.

01:12Tell us a little bit about your house in general.

01:15It was built in 1961.

01:18It was redone prior to us buying it.

01:21They did a great job, but it doesn't feel super functional for us.

01:26We clearly have a child.

01:29So we're currently standing in the playroom.

01:31We're currently standing in the living room.

01:33So the whole house is the playroom?

01:34The whole house is kind of the playroom at this point.

01:37And we have virtually no storage.

01:39Yeah.

01:39So we would love to figure out ways to make it a lot more functional and grow with us.

01:44I like if things are like a little bit funky.

01:46But still definitely want it to feel like refined and mature.

01:56This room, I think we would just love it to feel like an actual living space and not a

02:07But I think for walls, I like white as long as it feels not just like a blank canvas.

02:17And keeping your walls neutral means that all of your furniture is still going to work.

02:31So one of the things we're really excited about is the potential for an addition of a primary

02:36So we're thinking we might have opportunity with our current carport area.

04:04So one of the areas that we really struggle is we don't have a dedicated playroom.

04:09And when we go inside, you'll actually see it's just our catch-all area.

04:11So we'd love to show you kind of what that space looks like.

04:18And this room could be a great place for all of the toys that we see everywhere else.

04:23This is currently a TV room.

04:26It's a catch-all where we put everything.

04:28So we're excited to figure out the playroom.

04:31I think we can accommodate all of that.

04:34When we put the primary suite out this way, you no longer have the access to the carport

04:39to unload groceries and whatnot.

04:42This would be a little connecting way here, a reasonably sized playroom there.

04:47Doing a little walk that comes up outside of the bedroom and come in the house here.

04:52So let's talk about how you want the space to feel.

04:55I'm kind of okay with as long as it feels cohesive with the other parts of the house.

05:47I didn't think about that, but I'm not against that.

05:51Will adding any other color on the walls make it feel dark?

05:54No, I don't think so.

10:00These are the days that we get to feel the space and feel the light and make sure these crazy things that we come up with in our head are going to work in reality.

10:09Let's just start in the dining room because I feel like that'll be the rosetta sonos my dad likes to put in.

10:16I want to do wallpaper in the kitchen, which is going to bleed into the breakfast room.

10:22And that's going to sort of be the thing where we are pulling most of the colors in the house from.

10:29I don't know.

10:31Which one are you feeling?

10:32I feel like they have.

10:33So, ooh, that's busy.

10:35Yeah, this one's very busy.

10:37I think what I like about this one is because we're not changing the color of the cabinets in the kitchen and they're already white.

10:45I feel like because this one has so much white.

10:47It's better.

10:48I'm leaning towards that.

10:49For the banquette cushion.

10:50Mm-hmm.

10:51This is an option.

10:53But the whites and the creams aren't driving.

11:08I think that the number one thing that we have to keep in mind is that Anna wants to make sure that whatever we pick, it's going to feel light and bright.

11:18These are all very fun colors that really work well together.

11:21And it can take a very simple design and just exactly.

11:37It would feel good to tone it down a little bit with a natural fiber on the windows.

11:47And we're doing a wall-to-wall banquette seat, a nice beautiful rug, red cushion, bamboo blinds, white oak table, colorful chairs.

12:07Let's poke our heads in the living room real quick.

12:10It seems to me we just carry the same green-blue trim into this room.

12:15And then we do the walls in a white that feels the same as this white.

12:20So it sort of feels like the same space without being the same space.

12:24It's a simple refresh, but I think it'll make a big impact, which is exactly what they want to do here.

12:28A little pattern and a little color goes a long way.

12:32Now there's something in the kitchen that I feel like I need your expertise on.

12:40Well, they really want the kitchen to feel cohesive with the dining room and the living room, which we can totally do.

12:47The bigger issue is that this used to be an exterior wall.

12:52Well, and now we have this big hole in the backsplash where the window used to be.

12:59And I'm struggling a little bit.

13:02Well, I do think this has to come down because we will never match this.

13:08This is really old tile.

13:10But I also feel like there needs to be a focal point here so you're not just looking at a wall.

13:16I knew you would say that.

13:18And so actually yesterday I snuck over because I heard sheetrock was up.

13:21And I think I have an idea.

13:23I see that.

13:25We come in and we do a scalloped backsplash.

13:31Some beautiful shelves up here.

13:35Ditch the light and then style them beautifully.

13:38Yeah, I think this is a great solution.

13:40And then we put the wallpaper over here.

13:42Anna wants wallpaper, but at the same time she's really concerned about it feeling dark.

13:47I think what we can really do is own that white cabinetry, which is not our normal, and use it to our advantage.

13:56I think it will keep things bright and airy too.

13:58We're going to have this amazing wallpaper.

14:01And we'll take this really nice trim color through to the new doors.

14:04I would like to replace these lights maybe with a rattan light.

14:10It's going to feel like a whole new house.

16:26So you've got the beautiful scallops that are going to be on the fabric.

16:30Then you've got this beautiful bed that's soft and earthy, and it'll also do a scallop on the headboard.

16:35It'll tie in from the kitchen where we did the scallop on the bamboo blinds.

16:40It was some sort of, like, vintage rug that pulls in some deeper burgundy tones.

16:45And the beautiful light fixture, as always.

16:48So let's go to the bathroom.

16:49I think we should take the green that's in this room and pull it in there and see how we like.

17:00They desperately needed more space, so we've got a ton of storage in that closet, a really big shower, and a double vanity so they don't have to fight over who brushes first.

17:18So how do you feel about just doing, like, trim?

17:22I think that's what I would prefer.
