00:00What's your name?
00:01My name is Kavya Adam.
00:03Kavya, I've seen you here playing.
00:05Why did you choose cricket only? Why not any other sport?
00:09It makes me feel free and it's like something I love a lot.
00:16This recent win for Indian women cricket team, this is not just about the trophy,
00:20but also about the change in perception about women's sports in India.
00:24Have you had any challenges in your life when you asked your parents
00:28that this is the sport that I want to get into?
00:30Not my parents, but there are my grandparents who always try to convince my parents
00:37that I shouldn't play cricket, it's not meant for women or something.
00:42But now, India has won, so it has proved that girls are meant to be cricketers also.
00:52Have you talked to your grandparents after the massive win by Indian women cricket team?
00:57Yeah, they didn't say anything that they said that you should go in sports also,
01:03but you should have a backup plan also.
01:07Backup plan. You know, this is a common perception across players.
01:11Whenever I talk to people in sports, women in sports, they often tell me about the backup option.
01:18Why can't this be the mainstream option for women, the main career option for women?
01:24For me, it's the main, and I know that I will try, I am giving my 100%,
01:30and I know I will get something in my life from this.
01:35But there are some stereotypical people who think that women are a little weak or something,
01:43which makes them think that we should have a backup plan.
01:47How do you plan to break the barriers, break this stereotypicalness?
01:51Proving them by winning like just the women did recently.
01:55I am loving how the, how our government is supporting and how BCSC is also supporting women cricket,
02:04increasing the prize money as we saw in the last winning match,
02:12that we, the women got 40 crores and the men get 33 crores or something.
02:18What we, the men do at the club as we saw in the last couple of years,
02:25and what I, what I'm doing at the club is doing,
02:27I am very proud of and so what is going on now.
02:29I am happy to work toward the club,
02:31and I am happy to work toward that club as well.
02:32We do not have some FOR FOR FOR FOR FOR FOR FOR FOR FOR FOR pergunte powers,
02:33and I am happy to get there alладно,
02:35and I am happy to come and see what they are from the club.
02:37And at the stage it is coming to be the club.
02:40And I am happy to be the club of our club being,
02:42and I tell you where I am,
02:43and I will not be the club,
02:44and at the stage it is coming to my football,
02:45but with the club being.
02:46And I am happy to play at the club being and I am happy to find out
