Our host John V takes you through the cameras on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 to get the most out of it. From its larger Flex Window display, to new Galaxy AI features such as Audio Eraser, the Z Flip 7 is the phone made for creators who crave versatility. You'll realize how all of these tips and tricks help to make this flip-style foldable one of the best camera phones you can get today.
00:00Hey guys, welcome back. In this Setup Essentials episode, I'm breaking down my favorite camera features on the Galaxy Z Flip 7
00:06because it's easily the phone I've had the most fun using this year.
00:09So if you picked one up or thinking about it, I'm walking you through what to try first to make the most out of the Z Flip 7's cameras.
00:16Let's get into it.
00:18The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has some serious performance gains, camera refinements, and software tools to make it more like a creator-ready device
00:25right out of the box compared to the Z Flip 6.
00:28You're still getting that compact flip design, but a larger 4.1-inch cover screen, which means you can do a lot more with your content.
00:35Specs-wise, the cameras are actually the same. 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP selfie.
00:41But thanks to Samsung's Pro Visual Engine, the final results and editing capabilities are a major step up.
00:47What Samsung's done here with software and processing makes the phone super usable and fun for getting awesome photos and videos.
00:54So let's start with the cover screen preview.
00:57Flip the phone, close halfway, and your outer screen becomes a live camera monitor.
01:02So whether you're vlogging, filming a TikTok, or framing the perfect selfie, you can see exactly what you're doing.
01:07I love this.
01:08No guessing, no wasted takes, and it's the kind of thing for me that continues to make the case for flipped phones.
01:13To get the cover screen preview, you've got to launch the camera app first.
01:16Once you do this, you've got to fold the phone in half like this halfway, and then there's a button here for the cover screen preview.
01:23You tap that, and it activates the screen on the back.
01:26It all starts with the rear cameras.
01:30Z Flip 7 keeps things simple with just two cameras in the back, but what's fascinating is how the main sensor mimics telephoto.
01:37Thanks to a high-resolution sensor and clever cropping, you still get zoomed in shots with sharp detail and natural-looking depth.
01:43You won't match a true periscope lens, but for portraits or quick zooms without distortion, this definitely gets the job done.
01:50You can totally just start taking pictures with the default settings, but exploring the manual mode will give you a lot more control over what you capture.
01:59In the camera app, swipe over to Pro or Pro Video mode, and you'll unlock full manual controls.
02:05Adjust ISO, white balance, shutter speed, and even focus right from the Z Flip 7's native app.
02:11Whether you're shooting in tricky lighting conditions or trying to match shots from another camera, this gives you way more flexibility.
02:17Speaking of flexibility, there's now log recording on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which means your videos are captured in a flat color profile that gives you tons of editing headroom.
02:27You can tweak the color, contrast, shadows, highlights, or even apply a LUT for that cinematic finish.
02:33If you like having control in post, this is a must-try feature, and I'm glad that Samsung didn't keep it exclusive to the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
02:39The Z Flip 7 supports 4K video at 60 frames per second, which means you're capturing a ton of detail, and you've got room to crop or stabilize in editing.
02:49Or if you want that smooth, slow-mo look, you can play it back at half the speed.
02:53Either way, it looks great and sounds clean. More of that in a second.
02:57One of my favorite features to use on the Z Flip 7 is portrait video mode.
03:00It blurs out the background, keeps faces in focus, giving your videos a shallow depth-of-field look, even if you're just shooting in your kitchen or on a walk.
03:09It adds instant cinematic polish to any talking heads or vlogs.
03:14In addition to portrait video, you're going to want to use tracking autofocus.
03:19Whether you're shooting someone who moves around, or maybe you're vlogging while walking and talking, tracking autofocus is such a game-changer.
03:27It locks focus on your subject and stays with them. Even if they shift in the frame, you'll find this under Pro Video or Advanced Settings.
03:37While you could pair a wireless microphone to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 whenever you want, there's now a built-in way to make vocals sound super clear.
03:45This phone gets the audio erase feature that first debuted in the Galaxy S25, and it's basically a clean-up tool for your video.
03:52If that perfect take got interrupted by siren or wind noise, you can remove the unwanted sounds in your clip right from the gallery.
03:58It honestly makes a big difference, and it's a really impressive example of what Samsung's processing can do.
04:03All right, that wraps up the must-try camera features on the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
04:08For me, the combo of the bigger cover screen preview, pro controls, and audio eraser support makes this the most creator-friendly Z Flip yet.
