NSW Australian of the Year Alison Thompson in the Ukraine
Transcript
00:00So we're in the middle of Ukraine doing a medical triage scenario.
00:07These are civilians that are bakers and people that are salesmen and they sell baby food, etc.
00:14So I'm hiding with a pretend grenade. It's a rock.
00:21We've got medics coming in and grabbing people and pulling them out, extracting them fast in the red zone.
00:27So I'm hiding till the very end and then I'm going to throw a grenade because they've got to learn to be aware of their surroundings.
00:35It's all about safety first. And we're not here. We're here as volunteers.
00:39We're not here to kill anyone or anything. But if there's as many people as we can save, that's the point.
00:46They can just save a life. We've brought in thousands and thousands of tourniquets.
00:49We've been here nine weeks since the beginning of the war.
00:51So this is about saving lives and teaching what we know in medical triage.
00:57Slava Ukraine.
