00:00Tom Homan comments on ICE operations in New York City amid Mumdani victory.
00:06Tensions over immigration enforcement are rising in New York City following the election of
00:10Democratic Socialist Zoran Mumdani as mayor. Despite that, President Donald Trump's administration
00:16has made it clear that immigration enforcement in the city will continue as planned. Tom Homan,
00:22the former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and currently serving as
00:27President Trump's border czar, said in a statement to the Daily Wire that immigration operations in
00:32New York City will not slow down following Mumdani's win. We will continue operations.
00:38Nothing changes, Homan said Wednesday. On the campaign trail, Mumdani repeatedly criticized
00:44ICE and its methods. In a past interview with host Mehdi Hassan, Mumdani called the agency a rogue
00:50agency and accused its officers of targeting immigrants without proper oversight. Mumdani
00:55has promised to dedicate $100 million of taxpayer funding toward legal defense for undocumented
01:01immigrants living in the city. In a June rally, Mumdani told supporters that he intended to
01:06stop ICE agents from deporting our neighbors. Federal officials, however, have warned that
01:12policies like the ones Mumdani supports could put public safety at risk. The Department of Homeland
01:18Security issued a strong response this week, stating that sanctuary policies often result in the release
01:24of individuals with serious criminal records back into the community. When sanctuary politicians
01:30ignore ICE detainers, they are protecting criminal illegal aliens at the expense of American citizens,
01:35McLaughlin said. These reckless policies have deadly consequences, she added. ICE will continue
01:41placing detainers, enforcing immigration law and defending public safety, because every American deserves to
01:47feel safe in their own neighborhood. The conflict between local sanctuary laws and federal immigration
01:52enforcement isn't new, but with Mumdani now at the helm of the nation's largest city, the debate may
01:59intensify. In a fit of unhinged rage, Zoran Mumdani tries to attack Tom Homan. For now, both sides appear
02:06firmly committed to their respective positions.
