China-Africa agricultural cooperation boosts modern farming in Mozambique
Transcript
00:00China's decades-long relationship with Mozambique continues bearing fruit for both countries.
00:12In Mozambique's Gaza province, a drone hums overhead while spraying herbicides onto the
00:18fields of an agricultural park built together by Chinese and African companies. Farmers say
00:24agricultural technology, like the drones, have greatly helped in efficiency and productivity,
00:30with one drone able to cover more than 6.7 hectares of farmland per hour. And to learn how to properly
00:37use the technology, Mozambique farmers get hands-on training from Chinese agricultural
00:42experts.
00:45Being able to work on this farm has benefited me a lot. This is my first time working for
00:50a company in the agricultural sector. I've learned many technologies and gained much
00:55knowledge, such as how to operate drone spraying.
00:59The country's Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries noted that China's agricultural
01:04technology has also positively impacted Mozambique's seed production and variety testing.
01:12These companies have played a strategic role not only in rice cultivation and the practical
01:16application of modern agricultural technologies, but also in seed production and variety testing.
01:23This has had a positive impact on Mozambique's agricultural structure. We highly value our partnership
01:29with China.
01:30Over the summer, China and Mozambique celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between
01:35the two countries, which coincided with the 50th anniversary of Mozambique's independence
01:40on June 25th of 1975.
