Students Supporting Israel hosted the Combat to Campus Tour, bringing IDF soldiers to speak near Toronto Metropolitan University - but the event couldn’t even begin.

A pro-Hamas mob broke into the peaceful event, shattering the glass of a private business, pounding on walls, screaming, and attacking Jewish students just for showing support for Israel.

The IDF soldier protected the Jewish students from the mob of protestors. Moments like this show why Israel needs IDF soldiers to protect itself. The world can’t protect Jewish people, and the Israel Defense Forces serve as a barrier between these vicious mobs.

SSI will always stand proudly and unapologetically with the IDF and the Jewish people. We’ll keep bringing IDF soldiers to campuses, because their story needs to be told and every Zionist student needs to feel safe and unafraid to stand with Israel.

Bringing IDF soldiers for peer-to-peer conversations with students on campus is powerful, transformative, and necessary. We cannot do it alone, please

HELP US CONTINUE THIS MISSION by supporting SSI.

00:00They were not working on them! I went there to defy civilians!
00:03They assaulted me, and they broke our own property!
00:10Now, block it! Block it! I need these over here!
00:26So I came to Canada in order to share my story.
00:29The story of my uncle, Sharon Eder, who was kidnapped, my personal experience at war.
00:33And to tell people that we are putting our lives at risk to differentiate between combatants and civilians.
00:39We've done everything in our power to maintain the sanctity of life.
00:42Really, the entire situation is something I would never have assumed.
00:45I've spoken to other college campuses before about my story, about Israel, and about the necessity to have really economic resilience.
00:54And I've never experienced violence like this.
00:56What had happened was, as soon as I came into the speaking area, we were attacked by five individuals that came from a group of 40 protesters that were waiting for our outside.
01:06They broke in.
01:07At one point, more pro-Hamas individuals stormed the building.
01:11It got very aggressive.
01:14One of the IDF soldiers was protecting us and was holding the door so more pro-Hamas individuals wouldn't be able to access the building and wouldn't be able to hurt us or attack us.
01:26Jonathan!
01:27Jonathan!

01:32At one point, one of the pro-Hamas individuals used a weapon to break down the glass of the door and to gain access to a space that was supposed to be a safe space for students to learn, to listen, and to ask questions.
01:44They turned a safe space into a violent space.
01:47Jonathan!
01:48Jonathan!

02:01Fearing for the safety of the people inside, I jumped through to stop any additional violence.

02:16Like, you just trespassed.
02:17This is not okay.
02:19I was shaking.
02:20I called the police.
02:22I was like in shock.

02:25We are women now!
02:26We are women now!
02:28At the event just proved that Toronto and the school doesn't care about Jewish safety.
02:35Many people were hurt.
02:40A couple people were hospitalized.
02:42Again, they made a safe space into a non-safe space.
02:45We felt very scared and frightened.
02:48We didn't expect this to happen.
02:50They started shouting, free Palestine, intifada, intifada.
02:54You guys are genocide supporters.
02:56All sorts of things.
02:58It's not a genocide!

03:17The owner gave me permission, said that they were trespassing and they had already broken
03:21and vandalized his property.
03:23I was acting in self-defense and in the defense of all the students that were there.
03:27I had to get them off the premises.
03:28Okay.
03:29I can do this if you want for me.
03:31These people caused the damage over here.
03:34They insulted me and they broke our own property.
03:37So now I'm going to physically remove them from the house.
03:40I'm going to physically remove them from the house!
03:41I'm not going to physically remove them from the house.
03:42I'm just trying to Mark!
03:43Não, I'm not going to!
03:44I'm not going to!
03:45I'm not going to!
03:46Jonathan, Jonathan, Jonathan!
03:47Go, don't, don't!
03:49Everyone's fucking here!
03:52Don't fucking touch me!

03:55You've got to the audience!
03:56Hey!
03:57Hey!
03:59No!
04:00No!
04:01These terrorists forced us to barricade the doors.
04:12They came 40 strong.
04:14Now, block in, block in.
04:16I need these over here.

04:48I need more men.
04:56We need more men.
05:18KTMU! KTMU! KTMU!
05:22KTMU! KTMU!
05:26KTMU! KTMU!
05:30I don't know what you're all to say!
05:34KTMU!
05:38Thankfully the police eventually came to reinforce us and pick up where we left off,
05:42removing additional protesters to the exterior wall. Eventually they were attacked as well,
05:46but thankfully no police officers sustained additional injuries.
05:50We have other people that are trying to get in. They're currently barricading us outside.
05:54We'd like the sort of assistance to help them get in. It's dangerous outside.
05:58It's a problematic situation that the police are not taking care of the camera.
06:06How did this happen?
06:08I was on the other side of the door. They were on this side of the door.
06:12They were pushing through the door. This is a glass door.
06:15I was on the other side. Everyone was against the wall.
06:17I was holding the door closed.
06:19Everyone was trying to push through the door.
06:21It was four or five of them when I was holding the door.
06:23And one of them pushed through the door.
06:25And then broke on this.
06:27And then I went through the door.
06:29I basically went through the door.
06:31Two people waited inside.
06:33Two people waited inside, yeah.
06:35And then I tried to grab the guy that pushed through the door.
06:39And he ran away.
06:41And everyone was continuing yelling and posing a press.
06:45And then he knocked me after he broke that glass.
06:49To my knowledge, and at the time of the publication of this video, there's still two men still at large.
06:54The first one is the one that broke through the glass door and attacked me with a drill bit.
06:59And the second one was the one masked with COVID mask and black sunglasses.
07:04And I believe the police are still looking for them at the moment.
07:07Do you feel it was the event that was targeted?
07:10Or were you targeted personally?
07:11I was targeted as a Jew, as an Israeli.
07:15I think the event was targeted for being supported by the state of Israel.
07:18So basically we tried to have an event here.
07:20A civil event, a common discourse.
07:2330 or 40 protesters tried to barge in.
07:26They broke through the door here.
07:27One of them came in with a weapon.
07:29A drill bit, which is over here.
07:31Kind officers took care of us, gave us first aid.
07:35And now we're going to give a statement.
07:37We were just trying to have a peaceful event.
07:39Talking to everyone.
07:40Having open dialogue.
07:41That's all we're trying to do.
07:42That's what SSI, TME were trying to do.
07:44But we were stopped by co-Hamas agitators.
07:48Who came in, came to attack us.
07:50Broke the glass with weapons.
07:52And there was blood everywhere.
07:54We tried to get them to stop.
07:55They wouldn't leave.
07:56We shouldn't have to deal with this.
07:58We should have a safe and open space for everyone.
08:01A safe space, both sides.
08:03Like, we should have open dialogue to hear from us.
08:05The importance of students supporting Israel
08:07is to give a platform for Jewish and Zionist students
08:10to be proud of who they are.
08:12And to promote peace and the truth.
08:14The problem with SJP is they're just promoting Hamas
08:17and Hezbollah propaganda.
08:19They don't really care about the truth and the reasons
08:22why Jewish people need Israel.
08:24All they do is they just want to cause violence
08:27and make us feel scared.
08:28But we're not scared.
08:29We're loud and proud.
08:30We're Jewish and Zionist.
08:31No one can stop me.
08:33No one can stop us from being pro-Israel students.
08:36As much as they try to silence us.
08:38As much as they try to harass us.
08:41To follow us.
08:42To stalk us.
08:43To physically attack us.
08:45No one can stop pro-Israel students
08:47anywhere in the world and on our campuses.
08:49You've not succeeded in scaring us.
08:52You haven't stopped us from continuing our mission.
08:55We'll continue to go to every campus
08:57and every state and every country
09:00and continue to spread the truth.
09:02You might have the numbers, but we have the truth.
09:04I want all the students to really understand
09:06that it's okay to be scared,
09:08but it's not okay to stop talking.
09:10And we're going to continue this tour
09:12and continue spreading the truth.
09:13Even if there are 2 billion people who say otherwise,
09:14we have the truth on our side.
09:16And that's what's important.
09:17I'm Yisrael Chai.
