00:00Hello and welcome to this Victorian Janesweather update for Monday.
00:04On Saturday, it was Melbourne's coldest November day in just over 30 years since 1994.
00:11What we had was a low pressure system moving through, so there was thick cloud and there was steady rain.
00:16Now we've got something slightly different.
00:18That one was chilly, but didn't have an Antarctic flavour to it.
00:21This speckled cloud that we've got down through here, that most certainly does, and it is on its way into the southeast.
00:28There is a band of rain that is running down in through here, and we've got that cold speckled air in behind it.
00:33So let's have a look.
00:34First of all, the blues and the purple lines.
00:37Yes, that is snow down to 600 metres.
00:39That is moving across Tasmania, perhaps down to about 400 metres at the worst of it as it moves through on Tuesday.
00:45So this is coming up today, and it's producing this wet weather later on in the day.
00:50So it's only just getting kicking off during the morning.
00:52So that's going to be moving through.
00:54Have a look at Tuesday here.
00:55That continues.
00:57It does dissipate as it moves north of the ranges because there's no connection to tropical moisture.
01:01In behind this, though, we've got high pressure that is moving in.
01:05That is calm conditions.
01:07It's clearing skies, and if you're inland, this is a severe frost.
01:11It is very late in the season.
01:12So as we go into Wednesday morning, do watch out for that.
01:15If you're farming anything, growing anything, it is a frosty start on Wednesday.
01:20So that clears out as we go through Tuesday.
01:22By Wednesday, the high pressure system has moved out to our east, and the next cold outbreak is beginning for Tasmania.
01:28We're not going to see this one.
01:30Let's have a look as we move through to Thursday.
01:32There's that next cold outbreak there.
01:33We instead look to the west.
01:35We'll have cloud building, and there's a bit of wet weather coming down that has more of a tropical flavour.
01:39So it changes as the week goes on.
01:41Let's watch this one.
01:42And there is the potential for another low to move across.
01:45Now, that means lots of wet weather wrapping around into the backside of that, but not quite as significant as the last one.
01:51However, it may extend further north than the last one did because it takes a further north path.
01:57So that's the potential for Friday and into Saturday, wrapping around and then finishing up.
02:02The next one is likely to come through later Sunday and into next Monday.
02:08There it is with our next weather system.
02:09So we've got a new weather system every couple of days as we move through.
02:13What might that add up to?
02:15Not quite as significant as last time, but still 25 to 50 millimetres for a large part of western Gippsland there and at the southwest coast.
02:22Then it steadily decreases as you head inland, but still potential for 10 to 15 in through here, which would be nice moving up into the ranges as well.
02:30OK, let's have a look at what that means day by day for Melbourne.
02:33We're about 18, so conditions have thawed since Saturday.
02:36It's thawed on Sunday and further today.
02:38That develops later on this afternoon, cold change tonight.
02:43So, yes, Tuesday is chilly.
02:45It's different to what we had on Saturday.
02:47It's not steady, persistent in the cloud that comes with it.
02:50Instead, it has bitterness.
02:52It's got an Antarctic flavour about it.
02:54So you're going to feel that in the wind tomorrow.
02:56Lots and lots of showers are spreading through.
02:58So that's with our reduction in temperature.
03:01That recovers into Wednesday after the chilly start inland.
03:04That is frost.
03:05Temperatures recover as we move to the end of the week.
03:07The next weather system hits later on Friday into early Saturday.
03:11Then the next one is Sunday into next Monday.
03:13As always, head to Farmer Long Weather for the latest.
