00:00Oriental Beauty Valley, MXGP of China. About to burst into life, MXGP Race 2, 30 plus 2.
00:07Who will it be that grabs that all-important box-hole shot, everybody away, eyes over on the right-hand side.
00:11Jonas getting sandwiched and shuffled to the back.
00:14There's Kunin, rockets out of the start, it's Geiser who leads the way.
00:18Kunin folds it in half, he goes down, is that the championship done for him?
00:24He's picking himself up, he's a bit second-hand, he looks like he got hit in the back.
00:28Fevre emerges unscathed.
00:34But who was that that went down? Was that Jonas that went down there? I think it was.
00:38And look, he's gone, he's stuck in the mud, trying to get going from bad to worse.
00:43That's Jonas down there, number 41, in turn 4, at the end of the straight.
00:48Here's Fevre in 3rd place, so Hernes, Geiser, Fevre, Fernandes, Jonas, who was in 5th place.
00:55On that opening lap, Guadagnini then will move up, so too.
01:01Bonacorte, Blaner, Keertz, Brumman, Rogers, and then Koldenhoff.
01:07So talk about highs and lows in the blink of an eye.
01:17So much going on. Was it Hurling's that grabbed the hole shot? Was it Kunin? Was it Geiser?
01:23Looked like it might have been Geiser. And if that's the case, Tim Geiser with his first foxhole shot of the campaign.
01:35Unbelievably.
01:39And for Geiser, the 243 hasn't scored a foxhole shot since Lombok 2, the second of the Indonesian rounds.
01:55And that's Geiser in race two. So that is some going. But at the moment, with Lucas Kunin in 21st place, still circulating.
02:06And Fevre in 3rd place. The gap 56 points at the top of the championship.
02:12Fevre needs to win. If Kunin doesn't finish, still a very, very long way to go.
02:16That is the, the projection in terms of, you know, your worst case scenario in terms of if you're Lucas Kunin and Abba Nicali and Red Bull KJ in factor racing.
02:24If he doesn't finish it, then Fevre wins. But as you can see, this race getting off to an explosive start.
02:30Hurling's leads away. Geiser second, Fevre in 3rd. Not going to be going up to win the championship.
02:35And Kunin already into the points anyway. He's up in the 20th.
02:40When that stat became apparent, it was like Abba's going to go down to the final round.
02:45Can't see either of those scenarios happening here in this race, in this final race, for one reason or another.
02:50But Kunin looked like he was on fire, getting out of the gate, swept around the turn and ironically fell in the same corner that Sacha Kunin fell when he was chasing Adamo in race two.
03:01Don't worry, no spoiler alerts. What could be the positions or what happened?
03:06But both Kunins sampling the dirt in turn two in that second race so far.
03:14The view from above.
03:19Fevre heading towards us in the opposite direction. Fernandez behind him, then Philandren.
03:26Here is Kunin behind the 41 at Porsche Jonas.
03:30Jonas. Jonas in 19th place.
03:41Talk about one of those weekends where, metaphorically, the wheels have just fallen off this championship charge.
03:47Pit boards will be interesting.
03:56Just giving him time and positions.
04:02As he goes past Pit Lang.
04:05So he's going to have to dig even deeper than he did in qualifying.
04:11And the race one.
04:13Ah, gifting off the side of the track.
04:15And Prunier was cruising, so there's going to be a couple of positions here in quick succession for Lucas Kunin.
04:22So gifting then, dropping down the order.
04:27I think he was in 10th place.
04:29Prunier.
04:36Yeah, look, there's gifting off the side of the track.
04:39It's okay, but looking a little bit second hand there.
04:43As Hurley sets the fastest lap of the race so far on that opening lap.
04:48So Kunin all of a sudden up into 18th place with his move on.
04:51Prunier.
05:04Talk about conditions.
05:07I want to see a replay of Jonas through the waves there because I saw some riders riding with long visors just to combat the low sun.
05:16Jonas ducked his head there to avoid roost, but he's riding visorless after he buried his head in the ground.
05:20On the opening lap through turn, well, going into turn four.
05:24So he went to duck his head.
05:26There's obviously nothing to deflect, so would have taken a face full of roost there.
05:32Just out of Jonas.
05:33It's the 34 of Levi Rogers of Australia.
05:45Rogers in race one.
05:47Ended up in 23rd place.
05:50Hoping to score some points here in race two if he can.
05:56Siwa down in 24th.
05:58Gifting.
05:59Well, Siwa didn't finish the first lap.
06:01Right.
06:02Take a look at the start then.
06:03Kunin.
06:07Kunin.
06:08Middle of the left.
06:09Leaning across now.
06:11Got himself inside.
06:14Guys have got it, but watch this here.
06:16Folds the front.
06:17He goes down.
06:18Riders running in the back of him.
06:19Was one of those riders.
06:20I don't know.
06:21Just trying to work out who the Yamaha rider was that ran into the back of him there.
06:22Because it was two or three of them that had the opportunity.
06:24Anyway.
06:25Back with the action.
06:26Hurlings leads.
06:27Geiser.
06:28By two seconds.
06:29Vembra another three seconds further back.
06:30Put the flag out now.
06:31It's a Hurlings-Geiser-Vembra podium.
06:32Geiser on the podium for the first time.
06:33Six round five.
06:34And the other one.
06:35It's a Hurlings-Geiser-Vembra podium.
06:37No.

07:30No.
07:31the two five-time world champions.
07:35Obviously a lot written about these two in recent weeks.
07:40Of course, Tim Gleiser not good at basketball and Jeffrey Hurling's probably thinking about
07:45his next car purchase.
07:52But at the moment, they're first and second in the race. Here's Fernandez, he's in fourth,
07:57he's got Roman Fevreur just ahead of him in third place. Fevreur will get the pitboards,
08:02just saying Lucas Coonan is in 20th, Lucas Coonan is in 18th place, then he'll be in 17th place.
08:08But as long as he's behind him, he knows he's taken another step towards that second world title.
08:18So at the moment, this one proving to be quite a pivotal Grand Prix in that 2025 World Championship chase.
08:28Coonan about a second behind Zach Watson, the other Australian who's lost two positions
08:33to Renault and Jonas.
08:37I think it was Renault that ran into the back of Coonan in that first turn,
08:41or certainly got held up because he's now up to 14th place.
08:44Flandre in his fifth, Keir's in seventh. So your rider who finished third in race one
08:48and was eyeing up a podium potentially, while also finding himself leaving here around sixth overall.
08:54So he's still got some work to do. Fevre and Fernandes here.
09:00I'm sure there'll be much resistance from Roman Fevre if
09:04Rupert Fernandes tries to make a move from any outside.
09:07Well, they were very close there though, weren't they?
09:13Well, I'll tell you what, he's definitely rubbing them up the wrong way, isn't he here?
09:16He doesn't need to get involved like that.
09:19But Rupert Fernandes just said, you know what, I'm in it to get as good a result as possible,
09:24whether you're going to be potential world champion or not, on the podium or not,
09:28I've got to find a way past. And if I'm going to rough you up, I'm going to do exactly that.
09:34Fevre doesn't need to get involved in this scrap, but that's exactly what he's doing.
09:41Bar to bar, at the end of lap four, Fernandes will go through into third place.
09:46But there was a very close moment when they came in to land.
09:54Where it looked like Fernandes just got pitched and took off
09:58a little bit skew and got more distance, more speed than Fevre.
10:02They were almost into the side of each other.
10:06By the time they landed, that would have been
10:09one of those game changers in the championship as well, had both riders gone down.
10:16And this was the move around the outside. Commitment from Fernandes.
10:26Fernandes now into third place, sets the fastest time in sector one.
10:31As he goes after Tim Geiser, his teammate, who's seven seconds further up the track.
10:38Overall podium now looks like this.
10:41Hurlings, Geiser, Fernandes. So that move on Fevre puts him down
10:45to four, tied on 36 points with Ruben Fernandes.
10:50So that one will sting. But again, at the same time,
10:57Roman Fevre, who only been off the podium twice this year.
11:02Round two in Spain, round 17 in the Netherlands.
11:05For the third time this year, looking at maybe not being on the podium.
11:09He's got the bigger picture in mind.
11:11Didn't want to get involved in that battle with Ruben Fernandes.
11:13Of course he didn't.
11:16He'll be relying on the Spaniard now, just to maybe sort of like keep pushing for the next 18, 19 minutes.
11:20And then maybe burn himself out.
11:22But will that happen?
11:24Have to wait to see.
11:27Fernandes, who hasn't been on the podium
11:29since his back-to-back podiums, round seven and eight.
11:32Sort of, uh, Portugal.
11:33And then Galicia and Lugo.
11:36His third box visit of the year.
11:42Both of those were third place finishes as well.
11:47Fevre's on the half.
11:48Megan looking on.
11:49Keeping tabs.
11:50I'm sure their hearts were in their mouths when
11:53they saw Fernandes and Fevre getting mighty close mid-air a couple of laps ago.
12:01Erling's two seconds clear of Geisel.
12:02Fernandes, 7.56 seconds further back.
12:06Then Fevre, happy to sit there in fourth.
12:08He's dropped off the pace to the tune of two and a half seconds.
12:11And he knows he's got four and a half over Fulandren.
12:14Meanwhile, Lucas Coonan has an advanced fervor at 16.
12:18He's behind Kevin Broomen.
12:20As Renault goes into 12.
12:21And we've on prime vocals.
12:33Broomen-Fevre.
12:33There's what it looks like in terms of the championship.
12:37Fever on 9.29.
12:38Coonan on 8.80.
12:4049 points.
12:42Not enough to be crowned world champion here today, of course.
12:45But it does take the pressure off massively going into the final round if things stay as they are.
12:55Kawasaki never won the title in the premier class.
13:10Will this be the year?
13:122021 was one of those seasons where we had three riders separated and by three points with three rounds to go.
13:17If you remember, it was Erling's who won out that battle over Roman Fevre.
13:21In the end, here's Coonan, Brumen ahead of him.
13:31Brumen on the MX-Handle Hustana.
13:35Coonan up the inside.
13:36Moves into 15th place.
13:39Every point is going to count.
13:40Next rider in his line of sight eventually will be Brian Bogus.
13:56Bogus occupying 14th for a Factic Factory Racing.
13:59Jonas is up to 13th so he's found his way past Bogus which is why Bogus now starting to work his way towards
14:19Coonan, who's just ahead of the Belgian.
14:25But it's Erlings who continues to lead.
14:26Gleiser 2nd, Fernandes 3rd, Fevre 4th, Calvin Bellana on his feet.
14:30Andrea Bonacorsi 6th, Iago Kietz 7th, Guadagnini 8th, Kolonov 9th, Ben Watson 10th.
14:35Good ride that for Ben Watson who was just in the points in race one in 20th position.
14:41So he's obviously got a good start here this time around and occupying that 10th place.
14:54But the overall podium at the moment, Ernst, Gleiser, Fernandes.
14:58Fernandes tied with Fevre on 36th for that third step.
15:00Here is Maxime Renaud, I think it was he that went down in the second turn with Coonan.
15:04And obviously you go from high to low where you go from almost winning the first race to
15:15getting a kick up the backside when Hurlington Gleiser came through but you salvaged a third
15:18and you know you go in the race too thinking you know what podium is on the cards here get
15:23through the first couple of corners and then you potentially go down.
15:28Maxime Renaud has looked good this weekend more like his usual old self.
15:34It's going to be fifth overall as it stands right now 29 points, Fevre on 36th and Fernandes on 36th.
15:46So it's not over yet. Here's Vellandrin in fifth, six and a half seconds behind Roman Fevre.
15:55Vellandrin looking at seventh overall.
16:04Fourteen minutes plus two to go.
16:06How much of this race is riders feeling the heat from race one as in the exertions that they've put in on themselves.
16:16Slight error there for CV10.
16:18You go into the first race, you know well let's try and preserve some energy for race two.
16:25Of course then you get yourself into little matters and scraps here and there and it doesn't quite pan out
16:29the way that you expect it to. Then you go into race two thinking okay let's just leave everything on the line
16:35or do we go into preservation mode again once you sort of see where you're at in the greater scheme of things well.
16:43Here's Andrea Bonaporsi who is in sixth place about four and a half seconds behind Calvin Volandrin.
16:49He'll be hoping for moves in the latter stage of the race if he can and he's just behind his teammate Koltunov
16:54in race one those two were seventh and eighth. But in terms of that battle for third in the championship
17:09Koltunov 66 points clear Fernandez that'll be good enough for third overall in the championship
17:13with a round to go for Glenn Koltunov. So Koltunov circulating in ninth place. Fernandez in third.
17:22Doesn't look like at this moment that Fernandez is going to advance onto these two Hurlington Geyser
17:25who are going now for a personal pride for that top step of the podium.
17:31Koltunov can't afford to lose positions certainly can't afford to lose six positions put it that way
17:35because 60 points might not be enough as it goes down to race wins and actually Koltunov has one race win
17:43actually Basin. Fernandez doesn't have a race win so if they did tie it would go down the race wins.
17:49So Koltunov has two ticks against his name at the moment and that that would be third.
17:57Hurlings was very tired physically mentally after that first race the exertion that he put on
18:03himself just to get onto the rear wheel of Maxime Renault to push for the win take the win
18:07The same may have been said for Tim Geyser as well because those two eventually only finished
18:18two and a half seconds apart when all was said and done at the end of 17 laps of racing
18:24they're 1.1 seconds apart here on lap 9
18:30and it looks like Geyser is looking interested here
18:35he's whittled down that gap he's all over the back of Hurlings
18:37will there be a response from the number 84 if there's a challenge a significant challenge
18:47from Geyser clean eight laps minus one Geyser was the message
18:52a long three weeks on the road for bikes and riders some like KTM Husqvarna I think they rode a bike in Turkey
19:11there had two bikes shipped here that hadn't touched dirt in Turkey but some the bikes they
19:18race in Turkey being brought here they were going to Australia
19:26so at least this weekend at least these two riders here running a bike that was fresh this weekend and
19:34will be relatively new when they head down under a week from now
19:40oh Geyser folds the front had three or four stabs at that corner was he just pushing too hard he stays
19:48on two wheels but with 10 plus two to go
19:54is that his challenge watch this here he does everything right and then folds the front
19:58ah wrestling the front end stays upright but the gap now between Hurlings and Geyser
20:07what is it about one and a half two seconds says 1.6 at the moment but as we hit sector two
20:13Hurlings goes through now the gap 2.4 seconds so a bit of respite there for Jeffrey Hurlings
20:21Bonacorsi and Iago Kiertz here
20:23Kiertz challenging the Italian this 4.6 position
20:34Iago Kiertz in terms of that sixth place seventh position
20:39in one of those seasons he got a seventh in race two in the Netherlands a couple of rounds ago
20:43and he got a sixth in Finland race two round 13
20:51what's this round 19
20:58see now the shadows being cast from right to left as they dropped into that turn a moment ago
21:04that'll have its bearing on the on the racetrack long shadows as the riders come through these turns
21:08now as well so looks like the equivalent of winter sun
21:14but of course you know he's got his handstool here
21:17because Bonacorsi was about four seconds behind the Volander and he's now 9.3 behind the South African
21:26this is a good effort from Iago Kiertz
21:28he'll be looking at tenth overall if he stays where he is
21:31he'll only gain a point if he finds his way past Bonacorsi so he'll stay in that tenth overall
21:45eight and a half minutes plus two laps to go
21:49Geis has let off
21:52keeps him 2.2 seconds behind the bullet
21:55I just wonder if that was a warning sign for the Slovenian just to say okay
22:02keep it on two wheels get a podium
22:05could be second overall could have been first you never know eight minutes to go he might get second wind
22:10and throw the gauntlet at Hurlings who might just get comfortable in that lead position
22:14it's quite an evening because Siwa and Gifting not finishing that uh opening lap of Siwa was involved
22:23in that incident with uh gifting as well we saw only Gifting on the side of the track but no news on
22:29Siwa Siwa didn't even get through sector one so this Gifting made it through the first three sectors
22:34so that's your answer right there although Siwa went through sector two and three
22:39he didn't finish the lap so that would have been uh straight into pit lane then if that was the case
22:55quite a needy here in nine
22:59Maximano behind him closing in every point vital for the Frenchman
23:09I'm just five points away from the podium
23:14of Fernandez but of course
23:16Roman Fevre is also tied for the podium in fourth place
23:20so he needs six passes here certainly five at the very least well six passes he does here
23:27or six points I'll say
23:39Guadagnini Aruba.it Ducati
23:43it's still in that
23:4510th place Renault going by
23:49quite comfortably in here Renault now up to ninth
23:52one of course he's still under attack from uh Iago Chietzo
24:06yeah Renault five seconds quicker than Guadagnini two seconds quicker than Koldnoff who's a second and a
24:11half at the track second quicker than Hietz who's just ahead here so there could be you know what
24:18another three scalps here maybe four for Maxime Renault who's just got his head down and digging in
24:27so that podium is not guaranteed for Ruben Fernandez just yet
24:29it's getting closed off there by the Italian thinks about squaring up to him and charging down the inside then thought better of it
24:41this is turn nine and ten
24:47see how rutty and lowly the circuit is
24:50here it's nine seconds clear of Renault who's found his way past Koldnoff as well up into eighth place
25:03so Maxime Renault is on the charge and so is Iago Chietzo he gets alongside Bonacorsi
25:07and moves up into sixth place
25:18but Renault is the rider on the charge at the moment
25:24okay he's nine seconds behind Bonacorsi but 155 157 that was the previous land
25:30for the French and the Italian
25:39still got some miles to to manage if he is to make that podium
25:45next to Renault maybe is higher up as fourth place Roman Fevre but
25:50gap between those two at the moment Fevre 22 seconds off the lead Renault yeah it's another 20 odd seconds in it so
25:56not going to happen I don't think as you said strange things have happened
26:01Lucas Coonan 14th
26:02looking behind just as he was in race one watch this here this is Coonan going down there he falls himself in half
26:15two Yamahas slightly avoid I think that was Renault as predicted into the back that's why he's had to find his way through traffic
26:27the top of the championship
26:39Coonan on 882 gap 47 points
26:43with Coonan there in
26:4614th place Roman Fevre in fourth position 60 points up for grabs a week from now of course this race isn't done yet either
26:55but
27:01Geoffrey Hurling's keeping that gap more than two and a half seconds over Tim Geiser
27:06is he getting stronger as this race goes on
27:12wasn't able to get over there just maybe caught an edge actually didn't attack cleanly
27:17it's going to cost him a little bit of time we'll soon find out sector one now in that turn he goes through in 27.1
27:23Tim Geiser 27.3 so
27:27and Geiser not able to capitalize on that short jump from the number 84
27:32and that's third he's 10 seconds back Renault up past Bonacorsi very quickly and he's only six seconds behind the Argo kids
27:49so Renault still charging forward
28:02Roma Fegra here in fourth
28:07looking at a 47 point gap at the moment now heading into that final round
28:19gain of 21 points this weekend
28:24here's Vallandran
28:2622 seconds behind Fevre
28:30Fevre's lap time last time around 159.6
28:33Vallandran 155.8
28:35is there an opportunity here for Vallandran to find his way past Fevre
28:38Fevre take two points away from the Kawasaki rider and give them into the pocket of Lucas Coonan
28:45who would much rather have them in his pocket at this stage of the race this stage of the weekend
28:51maybe even this stage of the championship
28:53Fevre has just been in cruise mode knowing that Coonan is behind him
29:05we asked on the studio show a week ago Geoffrey Hurling's experience over youth and he said experience
29:10we asked Ben Watson yesterday in the studio show experience over youth and he said the same
29:14and for places like this here with the heat with the humidity those kind of conditions on the 450 as well
29:24and right now those kind of predictions from
29:29the Bullitt and Watson in terms of how they thought the championship could go
29:33over the next three rounds starting to ring true
29:36Denver put himself in a very good position at the start so too did Coonan until he got to turn two
29:45that's the gap between first and second three seconds 3.1
29:53oh it's very close to the outside edge of that track marker there as he breasted that first little single
29:58Renault 1.7 seconds behind Iago Kietz let alone give him 35 points still a point shy of the podium
30:23that gap still comfortable for the race leader 3.1 now clear Tim Geiser
30:35who is looking at second overall in this GP
30:44start of the year five podiums in a row third two wins a third and a win then Switzerland happened
30:51took him out of the campaign came back in Sweden 12th overall had a pair of fourth place finishes
30:57the last couple rounds so this is still considered progress maybe just managing to shake off things
31:04like arm pump now as well
31:08after such a long layoff not the easiest thing to to get rid of
31:12Renault was kind of his way past gear it's 11 seconds behind Volantro
31:26to get to six after going down in turn one when you look where yeah he picked himself up as Coonan was
31:43still picking himself up Coonan in 14th note so something clearly amiss with the Belgian this weekend
31:56I said just start to chip away again at Hurling's lead it's got it down to less than three seconds
32:03now down to 2.6
32:08is there going to be a late charge here from Tiga
32:11there's your gap and that might be your answer Tim Geiser gets a sniff all of a sudden
32:25came back on we're down to 1.6 seconds and we hit the Dragons back we're going into the final lap
32:30maybe Tim Geiser has just charged his time discharged to perfection here
32:35Hurling's would have had a pit bull a couple of laps ago saying yeah three seconds
32:43maybe not expecting the threat from behind but then these guys five-time world champions both of them
32:51very good at managing races their race craft is immaculate impeccable
32:56and we've got a game on the race on here on the final lap these two separated by about a second
33:00it's Hurling's in the driving seat Geiser the chaser
33:10two-thirds of a lap to go
33:17no way to cruise to the chequered flag for an easy victory
33:22oh saves that well had a bit of a bubble Geiser good drive going to take a different line through
33:31this turn Hurling's legging his way through and inside difficult deep ruts Geiser has him right in
33:38his line of sight where is the opportunity going to come though if he gets close enough
33:42into the left-hander
33:54Gleiser and Hurling's separated by a bite length almost come to a stop in the left-hander here
34:01don't need lap times you don't need intermediate sections to give us a split this is it half a
34:11dozen corners to go both pit crews will be urging on their riders they go down past pit lane they both
34:18know this is the overall grand prix on the line as we said personal pride between these two giants of the
34:24sport two corners to go though time running out for tiga
34:33good effort good charge but it's going to be hurling's who rounds out the final turn hurling's will win
34:39here in china he goes one one the gap six tenths of a second in it that has taken its toll once more
34:4831 years young jeffrey hurling's probably doesn't feel 31 probably feels more like 108
34:56the bullet after his performance here this weekend tim geiser slightly younger but still in his 20s
