Molten lava was observed emanating from the crater of Hawaii's Kilauea volcano close to midnight on Saturday, according to live cameras provided by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory had stated earlier on November 6 that Kilauea was likely to enter a "high fountaining phase" imminently.
Forecast models indicated the volcanic activity could commence at any point between Friday and Tuesday (November 11).
Kilauea, described as "one of the world's most active volcanoes," has been erupting intermittently since December 23, 2024.
