00:00To mark its 75th anniversary, the Magnum Agency is exclusively showcasing the work of female photographers.
00:10Visitors to CO Berlin can see when they think it is close enough.
00:15It is for us an important exhibition because it shows the change that the agency has made over the years.
00:26That we also develop together with the time,
00:31by taking young photographers every year in the agency.
00:37One of these voices is Nusha Tavakolian from Iran.
00:40For her, a picture often begins with a long conversation.
00:44At first only we had to talk for hours to try to understand each other
00:51and then find a common ground and then they kind of gave me permission to portrait them.
00:59Tavakolian wants to freeze time with her portraits.
01:03You freeze a moment and then you give the viewers a possibility
01:09to look at what you capture as long as they want to.
01:17It's not about the privilege of an expensive camera.
01:20Now everybody has this tool in their hand and it's not about being privileged or not.
01:27It's about what you have to say.
01:30That's exactly what the exhibition shows.
01:32Stories told in series of images instead of words.
01:37It's about people on the whole world, in their communities.
01:44It's about politics, about society, about time history.
01:49And that's what we can't tell with our phone pictures.
01:57Close enough, a view of the world through the eyes of Magnum photographers
02:01is on display at CO Berlin until January 28th.
