00:00Welcome to Real Talk, where it gets hot, spicy, and to the drama.
00:30Luke.
00:32Hello.
00:33Yes.
00:34I don't even know if these are even on.
00:35It's been way too long since I saw you last, which I think the last time I was on the back
00:39of your motorcycle.
00:40That's...
00:41Yeah.
00:42That's the last time I saw your hat.
00:43That feels like 20 years ago and 20 minutes ago at the same time.
00:46Completely.
00:47I feel like I never left this seat.
00:48Yeah, I just went to the bathroom and I've been chilling here the whole time.
00:51I've been going here, so...
00:53Just kidding.
00:54Um...
00:55It's good to see you, but it's good to see you.
00:56Yes, but I, yes.
00:57You look great.
00:58You look healthy.
00:59She's been crushing it.
01:00I mean, every time I blink, she's doing another show.
01:04She's changing lives.
01:05It's amazing.
01:06I mean, you too.
01:07You know what, though?
01:08I have one issue with Real Short.
01:09Don't make me cry right now.
01:10I do have one issue.
01:11Oh.
01:12I don't understand why we have not yet done a show together.
01:16So, that is something.
01:18Fans here, please leave some comments.
01:20If you guys want to see Luke and I do a show, love interest, or we hate each other, who knows
01:25what it is.
01:26Maybe both.
01:27Both.
01:28Love that.
01:29That would be amazing.
01:30Oh, my gosh.
01:31There's also...
01:32Hold on.
01:33Yeah.
01:34I don't know what this is.
01:35We have some things going on today that I'm unaware of.
01:37I think they're doing a little fun thing with us today.
01:39So, let's see what this is.
01:40Okay.
01:41Oh.
01:42Hi, hi.
01:43Welcome to a special episode of Real Talk.
01:46This episode is in your hands.
01:48Your mission, recreate an iconic scene from one of Real Short's top dramas within this
01:55episode.
01:56Oh, shoot.
01:57Oh, my gosh.
01:58Is this for us?
01:59I cannot.
02:00Okay.
02:01We're acting it out?
02:02No.
02:03You'll draw from the hit show bucket, which is that I think, to find out which show you're
02:09taking on.
02:10It's a very hit show looking bucket.
02:11Good luck and have fun.
02:13Real talk.
02:14Okay.
02:15Okay, Luke.
02:16The Honors.
02:17This looks like a fun toy bucket of some sort.
02:19You pick a show that I think we have to recreate.
02:23Oh, my gosh.
02:24This one's staring at me.
02:27Okay.
02:28I'm scared.
02:29All right.
02:30Surrender to my professor.
02:32Dumb!
02:33Oh, my gosh.
02:36Tess and Aaron.
02:38This is...
02:39So, I cast this show.
02:41You cast this show?
02:42I cast this show.
02:44This was Tess's first real short.
02:46No way.
02:47Congrats.
02:48Congrats, Tess.
02:49And she did an amazing job.
02:50I mean, they have hundreds of millions of views on this one.
02:51But it's definitely a spicy show.
02:54Yeah.
02:55This one did really well, too.
02:57This was really popular.
02:58Yeah.
02:59It's a fun one.
03:00It's a hot show.
03:01Yeah.
03:02Did you call the IC?
03:07Do we need an IC for this?
03:09Yeah, Olivia Ku.
03:10We're going to need you in here.
03:11Are you the professor?
03:12Will you be the professor?
03:13Will you be the professor?
03:14We'll figure this out.
03:15We'll figure this out.
03:16I don't know.
03:17I need a table read.
03:18I...
03:19I need a coffee.
03:21Okay.
03:23Amazing.
03:24Cheers.
03:25Cheers.
03:26Okay.
03:27So, surrender to my professor.
03:29Let's go do this thing.
03:30Do we need to work out a contract?
03:31Like, do we need to do paperwork?
03:33Right.
03:34What's our...
03:35I'll just call my agent really quick.
03:38No.
03:39Let's just do it.
03:40Let's go.
03:41I'm so glad I brushed my teeth.
03:55I'm so glad I have a cop drop.
03:57Oh yeah.
03:58I'm so glad I'm so glad I'm good.
03:59What's the problem?
04:00I'm so glad I have a cop.
04:01I'm so glad I'm going to go.
04:02Oh yeah.
04:03I'm so glad we can do it.
04:04That's the only thing I think.
04:05What's the reason why I think?
04:06I'm like.
04:07Eye contact the camera is powerful.
04:08The camera always catches whatever you're thinking.
04:10So, I always try to give myself a thought.
04:11So, that way it doesn't just look like I'm...
04:12Huh?
04:13My thought here is...
04:14At least I was thinking please don't go.
04:16So, it shows on my face please don't go.
04:18Also guys, when you are working really close together you might be like, oh my gosh, this looks so weird.
04:23weird, we're so close, like no one talks like this in real life, but that's also filmmaking.
04:27Oh, Steven, you're so close and it feels so awkward, but that's just how it goes.
04:33So have a breath, man, for your post arc.
04:36You're saying I need it, bro?
04:38Yeah.
04:39Everyone but lose.
04:40And you guys don't have to be exact matching this.
04:43Of course, we have actual cinematographers on set who are doing this, but just it helps
04:48you kind of understand the layout, like his coverage, my coverage, a wide, things like that.
04:54You'll notice when you're piecing it together, you'll probably understand if you have a dub
04:57film, or why it can take four hours to shoot one scene, that only the scene is only two
05:02minutes, because you need to get the singles.
05:05If you pay attention, it cuts a lot, usually.
05:07You need at least a single on each other and a wide, and then anything past that is kind
05:12of special, like an insert, for example, like a really tight shot where the hand grabs the
05:17handle, that's called an insert.
05:19Or like, you're looking at a phone, so you can get a really tight shot to see what the
05:23phone is, and it's an insert.
05:25And fun fact, verticals love inserts.
05:27They're kind of just as important as the coverage of the action.
05:30Slaps.
05:31Slaps, number one, inserts.
05:32And then an insert.
05:33Gosh, the amount of times we've gone over time because of inserts, and you're like,
05:38what?
05:39It doesn't make sense.
05:40It's just opening the door.
05:41I promise you.
05:42Sometimes they're more specific about those little things than even the acting.
05:45So in vertical land, too, something that's going to feel different in your body is you
05:49want to put whatever the acting is in your face as much as you can.
05:53You know, when something's shot horizontal, you can kind of use your body and move around
05:57a little bit more.
05:58But in vertical world, the energy is here.
06:01So for example, if I turn towards a person where I look at her, in real life, I might kind
06:06of swing or we call it banana out, you know, which is more natural to the body.
06:12In this world, the frame is only here.
06:14So it's all going to be here.
06:15Yes.
06:16It's very robotic.
06:17And you also, little movements, like, okay, something that I know I get a lot from is
06:23when I'm with my co-star, it's a sexy, beautiful moment.
06:26Look at their eyes.
06:27Look at their mouth.
06:28And make it so kind of obvious, like it's like a up, down, up, down.
06:32And that reads to the audience like, oh, it's a sexy moment kind of.
06:35It's just not how you act in real life either.
06:38And then you also want to breathe and make sure you're breathing because all that stuff
06:42reads on camera.
06:43Yeah.
06:44Anyway, if you could remember all that.
06:45So yeah, tips of the trade.
06:46You're all going to be so good at silly.
06:48Yeah.
06:49We'll be out of a job.
06:50Yeah, we will.
06:51Are we sure we want to do this content?
06:52Right.
06:53And I'm probably going to go out.
06:55Nice to meet you, Sylvia.
06:57And you, Lawrence.
06:58Cool.
06:59And that's really it.
07:00Yeah, that's good.
07:01Okay.
07:02And are you okay if on both of those moments, I just press my head on you?
07:07Of course.
07:08Hey, fun thing.
07:09So something that I thought it was a chair and she pulled it.
07:13I'm really big about respecting physical boundaries.
07:16It's just something that I'll go kind of out of my way to any, even the simplest thing
07:22from touching all the way through the intimacy.
07:26I'll always make sure that it's not a surprise for the person.
07:30So like, for example, I asked, is it okay?
07:32I'm putting my chin on her head, right?
07:35Which seems harmless, but I've noticed, and this is me nerding out.
07:40My chemistry with the female that I'm working with actually is stronger when you fellas show
07:47that respect first.
07:49So like me just making sure, you know, the woman knows I'm not here to try to sneak a
07:54look or I don't have any hidden motive behind this, uh, professional opportunity.
07:59Um, just making sure I do mine, if I bowl a lot, is that okay?
08:02You know, uh, and also having her back.
08:05If there's ever anything all the way down to the simplest things that she doesn't want
08:09to do, um, or vice versa, it just creates, uh, I've noticed that.
08:14And if you watch some of the shows I've done, some of the girls have been so talented, ridiculously
08:19talented, but we've been able to get really good chemistry.
08:22And I think I've learned humbly that sometimes that little bit of effort goes a long way in
08:28creating a genuine friendship.
08:30Yeah.
08:31And it shows through your characters cause you're not doing a scene that you secretly hate this
08:38other person.
08:39You know what I mean?
08:40You actually like, man, this person, you know, I'm safe here.
08:43Yeah.
08:44So fellas, I, I put that one on you.
08:47It makes such a difference because even if the, like I've had experiences of sometimes
08:51where the guy's like really touchy, he thinks it's a fun thing and it's like, Oh, we're
08:56playing opposite.
08:57So we should be touchy.
08:58And then it makes me run away from him off screen because I don't want to be around him.
09:02And then we have no chemistry.
09:03And people know if you're, if you're cause people thinking, you know, cause you're dancing
09:08in a gray area.
09:09I like to just remove the gray area altogether and fill it with respect.
09:12Yeah.
09:13Of course we're, it's just, it's better.
09:14It's easier for everybody.
09:15Yeah.
09:16Yeah.
09:17Yeah.
09:18Oh tip.
09:19Sylvia.
09:20I spent my entire life doing everything.
09:25I graduated high school, went to the private college I wanted to go to, graduated top of
09:33my class, got my dream job, climbed the corporate ladder over the top.
09:40I've done everything according to a plan.
09:45And then you showed up.
09:50And you absolutely wrecked my plan.
09:56But you've been perfect.
09:57You've taught me love.
09:58You've taught me joy.
09:59You've taught me kindness.
10:01You've taught me to appreciate the little things and myself.
10:08And now I don't care about my plan.
10:11I'm terrified of just losing you.
10:13But I don't want to lose you.
10:15I just hate that you have to pick between me and your life.
10:19You don't understand.
10:20You are my life.
10:21But I don't want to be your student.
10:34Well let's change that.
10:36I'm Laurence.
10:37Sylvia.
10:38Nice to meet you.
10:39She's a beautiful name.
10:41I can't believe you staring at me.
11:08I can't believe you in here.
11:11What I say about shooting on that dang old camp.
11:15I told you it drives me crazy.
11:22Jesus girl.
11:23Go get some lunch.
11:25I got something I think you'll like.
11:32It's sparkle.
11:35Like you.
11:38See, this is why I knew I'd never find love.
11:45Okay?
11:46But also, I'll be outside with the car.
11:50Thanks.
11:53Come on.
11:56God.
11:57We'll go pick up some pens on the way.
12:02So here's the thing.
12:06I don't know how to edit.
12:07I edit TikToks.
12:08I can do that.
12:09But I don't know how to edit a literal vertical.
12:11Do you?
12:12No, I'm definitely not.
12:14Okay.
12:15So I do have a friend at Real Short.
12:17His name is Wes.
12:18And I think maybe he can help edit.
12:20Oh, okay.
12:21Should we ask?
12:22Yeah.
12:23Uh, you.
12:24Um, Mr. Wesley.
12:26Hi.
12:27Hi, Angel.
12:28Hey.
12:29Um.
12:30We have a question for you guys.

12:34Let's do it.
12:35Yeah.
12:36Yeah.
12:37I definitely think we're ready.
12:38We should definitely submit this to the UDC contest.
12:39I think we're good.
12:40Okay.
12:41And we're also going to slay the fan adaptation category.
12:42Yeah.
12:43Okay.

13:19Well in every single vertical.
13:21There is that.
