00:00Marjorie Taylor Greene says Republicans will lose the House.
00:04Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has issued a stark warning to her own party,
00:09cautioning that Republicans could lose control of the House in next year's midterm elections
00:13if they fail to help Americans struggling with the rising cost of living.
00:18I can't see into the future, but I see Republicans losing the House
00:22if Americans are continuing to go paycheck to paycheck,
00:25Greene told Semaphore as the U.S. government shutdown continues,
00:28leaving federal workers unpaid.
00:31Alluding to the financial struggles facing many voters, she added,
00:35they'll definitely be going into the midterms looking through the lens of their bank account.
00:39Greene, a key MAGA figure, also criticized her party's handling of the ongoing budget impasse,
00:45calling repeated votes on short-term spending bills a complete failure.
00:49She expressed frustration with GOP leadership for refusing to negotiate health care reforms with Democrats,
00:55who have made lowering insurance premiums a central demand.
00:58That is something I'm really disgusted with, she said.
01:02It's an America-last strategy, and I don't know whose strategy that is, but I don't think it's a good one.
01:08The Congresswoman has increasingly broken ranks with House Speaker Mike Johnson and other GOP leaders this year,
01:14particularly over the push to release the Jeffrey Epstein files,
01:18while maintaining her loyalty to President Donald Trump.
01:20Everyone keeps saying I've changed, and I'm saying, no, I haven't changed.
01:25I'm staying focused on America first, and I'm urging my party to get back to America first.
01:30I actually ran for Congress in 2020 angry with Republicans in Congress, which is pretty much where I'm at now again.
01:36I'm mad about a lot of things, and I'm not going to stop talking.
01:40Even if you don't agree with Green on everything, or even most things,
01:44you have to admire her willingness in this moment to say what is true,
01:48even when other Republicans refuse to, wrote Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Patricia Murphy.
01:54Political analysts speculate that Green may be seeking to position herself as the next leader of the America First movement,
02:00or perhaps as a political rival seeking redemption within her own party.
