00:00In 1389 Death and Dream walk into a tavern. The two siblings make a bet. If humans obtain
00:05immortality, how long before they grow tired of this endless life? At this moment a drunk man
00:09speaks recklessly, saying death is a foolish choice, he would never choose death. So the
00:14siblings grant this man named Hob immortality. Dream decides to witness how this man's fate
00:18will ultimately unfold. In this tavern of the white horse, in 100 years.
00:24Amid the crowd's mocking laughter, Dream turns and leaves. In 1489 at this tavern, Hob arrives
00:32punctually for the appointment. He nervously asks Dream, what price must be paid for immortality?
00:37Dream dispels Hob's concerns. He wants to know how Hob's century has been. Hob's answer leaves
00:42Dream deeply disappointed. Dream leaves the tavern disappointed, and agrees to meet the man again
00:53in a hundred years. In 1589 Dream comes to the tavern once more. After a century of business
00:58ventures, Hob has made a lot of money. He has a lover and descendants. Hob wants to die even less
01:03now. Dream finds this boring. The time comes to 1689. Hob has completely changed his appearance.
01:09He's in tattered clothes and nearly thrown out by the bartender. Let him be. He is my guest.
01:15Hob has had an extremely miserable hundred years. He's sunk into grief over his wife and son's deaths.
01:19Being unable to die increases Hob's suffering. So do you still wish to live? Death is a mugs
01:26game. I've got so much to live for. In 1789 the world enters the age of sale. Hob transports
01:33British industrial goods to Africa. Then captures slaves from Africa to sell in America. Finally
01:38brings raw materials from America back to Britain. Using this triangular trade cycle, Hob becomes wealthy
01:43again. But this meeting is interrupted. Neither of them has a satisfying conversation. They agree to
01:49meet again in a hundred years. The time comes to 1889. By now Hob has figured out the rules for
01:54surviving in this world. He's honest with Dream. He still doesn't want to die. Deep down Dream already
01:59knows the answer. He keeps coming to these meetings. Because he's too lonely in this world. So he
02:04considers Hob his only friend. Hob pierces through Dream's feelings. Dream scolds Hob. How dare a
02:09mortal presume to understand a god's will. Dream then leaves the tavern. Claiming he'll never meet with
02:14Hob again. I'll be here in a hundred years son. If you'll hear that too it'll be because we're
02:18friends. No other reason. After this parting. Dream is unexpectedly imprisoned by mortals. In 1989
02:25Hob comes to the tavern. Until the place closes. Hob doesn't see Dream's figure. Hob thinks his
02:31impulsiveness cost him this close friend. During his imprisonment. Dream realizes the importance of
02:36friendship. After Dream is released. He comes to the appointed tavern. Only to find it has long been
02:41abandoned. Just as Dream feels disappointed. A prominent red arrow on the wall. Catches Dream's
02:46attention. Following the arrow Dream arrives at a new tavern. Looking at the familiar face before him.
02:51Dream smiles from the heart for the first time.
