00:08A distillery in Negros Oriental, owned by the Gokong Ways Universal Robina Corporation, was the source of the molasses spill last October 26.
00:16Vicente Los Bañez, director of the Environmental Management Bureau in the Negros Island region, says their legal team is now preparing two sets of charges against URC.
00:25Los Bañez describes the incident as serious for the environment and livelihoods in Baez and Manhuyod in Negros Oriental.
00:31He adds repairs on the damaged tailing pond is only at 70%.
00:36Typhoon Tino, which impacted many areas in the Negros Island region, spared Baez City.
00:41That also prevented the molasses spill from getting worse.
00:44Meanwhile, URC says it has employed workers to repair the damaged walls of the tailing pond.
