00:00In an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya English, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein discussed the latest U.S. warnings over Iranian influence in Iraq and its connection to the activity of armed militias operating within the country.
00:16Why do you think Washington is making a warning like this right now?
00:21I think they are linking these groups with the Iranian influence, so that is the position. They have got a clear position towards Iran, and they think that the Iranian has got influence in Iraq through these groups.
00:37Hussein also said that Iraq is ready to cooperate with U.S. President Donald Trump through a new special envoy to Baghdad, affirming that bilateral relations remain strong, expanding across security, energy, health, and education.
00:53Our relationship is based on, in the first place, on the history. The relationship between the United States and Iraq, it goes back to 2003, but also to the fight against working together and cooperating together, fighting ISIS terrorists. So we have got a lot together.
01:23We have got together.
