00:00I'll bring you all of that and more. First, as always, the headlines.
00:05The European Union opens a probe into Nasdaq and Deutsche Börse.
00:09The European Commission says it suspects the stock exchange operators of possible collusion involving financial derivatives.
00:15In September, EU investigators had carried out raids on these two firms.
00:19Financial derivatives are contracts whose values derive from assets such as bonds and stocks.
00:25Hezbollah rejects any negotiation between Lebanon and Israel, insisting that it has a right to defend itself.
00:33This follows pressure from the United States and Egypt on Beirut.
00:38Technically, Lebanon and Israel are still in a state of war, but all recent conflicts with Israel have been fought by the Iran-backed group and not the Lebanese military.
00:48Donald Trump to host all five Central Asian leaders in Washington.
00:52This will be the first such meet with the U.S. president.
00:55It comes just months after they held separate summits with Russia's Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping.
01:01Washington has upped its interest in the resource-rich region, where Moscow's traditional influence is being questioned.
01:08In India, Bihar votes in the first phase.
01:10The political fate of several top leaders will be decided in this phase.
01:14This includes the opposition's chief ministerial phase, Tejas Vyadav.
01:17The second and final phase of voting will take place on the 11th of November.
01:21The results will be announced on the 14th of November.
01:24And world leaders will meet in the Brazilian Amazon.
01:28About 50 heads of state are expected in the rainforest city of Belém.
01:32The aim is to show that climate change remains a top global priority, despite broken promises and the U.S. shunning the gathering.
01:39Donald Trump has called climate science a con job.
01:51Every night on the show, we talk about geopolitics.
01:56We talk about wars.
01:58We talk about economies rising and falling.
02:01Those stories usually make our lead.
02:03But tonight, the top story is different.
02:06And we believe it should be because it begins with these pictures from Mexico.
02:13These are pictures of Claudia Sheinbaum, the first woman president of Mexico.
02:19The president was out in public.
02:21She was interacting with her supporters, even clicking selfies with the people.
02:25It's something she has long done.
02:28And then it happened.
02:30A drunk man forced himself towards her.
02:34At first, she did not notice.
02:36Then he leaned in.
02:38He tried to kiss her and even groped her.
02:41Her security finally intervened.
02:43They pulled him away.
02:44The man has since been arrested.
02:46The Mexican president says she will press charges.
02:52I experienced this episode of harassment.
02:55At that moment, I was talking to other people and didn't realize what was happening immediately.
03:01Yuan Jose, who coordinates the entire support team, came over and moved him away.
03:06It was only after I saw the videos that I understood what had really happened because I was speaking with many people.
03:12Yes, I obviously felt this person's closeness.
03:14He was, I repeat, completely drunk.
03:16I don't know if he was also on drugs.
03:18But I decided to file a complaint because this is something I experienced as a woman.
03:22And it's something women in our country go through.
03:27Let's pause here for a second.
03:30This is the president of a country, a head of state, a woman who has shattered political glass ceilings.
03:37Yet, she was sexually assaulted in public in broad daylight, surrounded by cameras with her security and supporters around.
03:46She can be the leader of her country, but a man still thought her body was public property.
03:53And kudos to President Shane Baum.
03:55She was remarkably composed during this incident.
03:57She later said she did not realize the full extent of the violation.
04:03Not until she saw the video herself.
04:06But there's something else that she said, too.
04:10And it deserves our attention.
04:12Listen to this.
04:12And my reflection is, if I don't file a complaint, even though this is a crime, then what position does that leave all Mexican women in?
04:22If they do this to the president, then what will happen to all the young women in our country?
04:27So it has to…
04:28It's with the attorney general's office in Mexico City because this is a local jurisdiction crime.
04:34I filed a complaint.
04:35It turns out this person later went on to harass other women right there, on that same street.
04:40So this person is now under arrest.
04:46You heard that.
04:48She says, if she did not file a complaint, where would it leave all other Mexican women?
04:54What example would it set to them?
04:56And it is such a stark line because in Mexico, 10 women are murdered every day.
05:03Thousands are groped or catcalled on streets.
05:06Seven out of 10 women will face sexual harassment in their lifetime.
05:10That's 70% of all women in Mexico.
05:147-0, 70%.
05:15So President Claudia Sheinbaum is trying to lead by example to set a precedent.
05:20It's a good move.
05:22But it's a shame she had to do this in the first place.
05:26It shows you that a woman can win power, but safety, that still remains elusive.
05:33Look at these numbers from across the globe.
05:3580% women experience psychological violence.
05:40That is harassment, sexist humiliation and targeted abuse.
05:4465% are subjected to sexual or sexist insults.
05:4744% receive threats of death or sexual violence.
05:52Over a quarter has...
05:54Imagine being able to interact with your customers right where they are most available.
05:59WhatsApp.
06:00Here's more for you.
06:01In 2021, a British woman named Sarah Everard never made it home from a friend's house.
06:10Her murderer was a police officer.
06:12In India, a rape is reported every 16 minutes.
06:14One in every 16 minutes.
06:16In France, more than 80% women, 8-0, more than 80% women say they face sexual harassment
06:22in public spaces.
06:23In Japan, groping incidents are so common on trains that there is even a word for it.
06:28It's called chikan.
06:30The world over, one in three women aged 15 or above have experienced physical or sexual
06:35violence.
06:37Think about every third woman you know.
06:39Every hour, five women are killed by an intimate partner or family member.
06:43Each country has its own laws, its own campaigns, its own slogans, Me Too, Ni Una Menos, Reclaim
06:49the Night, whatever you call it.
06:50But the reality does not change.
06:53So tonight, let's call this what it is.
06:57It is a global failure.
06:59A failure of laws, of culture, of education, of leadership.
07:04A failure of all systems.
07:06Because when a president is not safe, what chance does a schoolgirl have?
07:11Or a working woman on a bus.
07:14Or a daughter walking home.
07:16We like to talk about women breaking glass ceilings.
07:20We celebrate their first, first president, first minister, first CEO.
07:23But women do not need inspirational quotes.
07:26They do not need hashtags.
07:27They need a world that does not treat their safety as charity.
07:31Because, and I repeat, if this can happen to a president in broad daylight, it can happen
07:36to anyone.
07:38This is no world for women yet.
07:40But it could be.
07:42If we stop treating stories like shame bombs as shocking and start treating them as unacceptable.
07:51There's a lot of unease in Europe.
07:53A lot of fears about a silent, mysterious threat.
07:57I'm talking about drones.
07:58Multiple drones have been sneaking into European countries.
08:02They have been spotted over strategic locations like airports and military bases.
08:06No one knows where they're coming from.
08:09No one knows who is launching them.
08:11And no one knows what the end goal is.
08:14Like I said, it's a silent and mysterious threat.
08:16And the latest victim is Brussels.
08:19On Tuesday, drones were spotted over the Brussels airport.
08:22At 8 p.m. local time, air traffic was halted.
08:25All flight operations at Brussels were stopped.
08:27No takeoffs, no landings.
08:30This led to major disruptions in travel plans.
08:32A lot of passengers ended up bunking inside the airport.
08:35I'm Ukrainian and I'm very much concerned that now in the heart of Europe we can see drones
08:42flying out of nowhere and we have no means to prevent that or to fight that back for now.
08:50As of now, some flights have resumed, but operations are not back to normal.
09:08The question is, what happened?
09:10Who fired these drones?
09:13That's what Belgium is wondering too.
09:15Today, their government held an emergency meeting.
09:18Belgium's defense minister called these drone sightings intentional and disruptive.
09:25We see that it is coordinated in time and space.
09:28These are not all coordinated actions in time and space.
09:31It is intentionally disruptive.
09:33It often happens at the same time, the darkest moment of the day, just after dusk, just before the stars appear.
09:40It is then pitch black.
09:44Officially, Belgium is not blaming anyone.
09:47But sources in their government have accused a state actor.
09:50They say it's most probably Russia.
09:53And this is not an isolated incident.
09:55Over the weekend, drones were spotted over a military base in Belgium.
09:58Last month, drones halted operations at the Munich airport.
10:02In September, they halted flights at Oslo and Copenhagen.
10:05So clearly, there is a pattern.
10:07But this attack stands out because Brussels is not just the capital of Belgium.
10:11It is the heart of Europe, the headquarters of the European Union, the headquarters of NATO.
10:18Basically, Brussels is the nerve center of European politics.
10:22So drones over Brussels is a big red flag.
10:26Naturally, the suspicion is on Russia.
10:28But why would Moscow do something like this?
10:30And why isn't Europe calling them out?
10:32If it is indeed Russia, they have many reasons to do this.
10:37A, to spy on Europe.
10:40Just consider the sightings over the weekend.
10:42The drones were spotted over a crucial Belgian base.
10:45A base that hosts U.S. nuclear weapons.
10:48So maybe the idea is to probe European defenses to see how capable they are.
10:53And B, to test the limits of European resolve.
10:57We've seen multiple drone sightings in recent weeks.
11:00Yet there is no military response, no effort to shoot down these drones.
11:04We asked Finland's president this week about this response on Monday.
11:10We asked him whether he would shoot down these drones.
11:13Listen to his response.
11:15There is already talk of some hybrid warfare, though.
11:18And drone sightings in this part of the world.
11:21And while Russia has not been named explicitly, hints have been dropped.
11:25Would you say that Russia is behind these incursions?
11:29Well, yes, some of them, but not all of them.
11:31The U.S. president suggests you should shoot them down if they enter NATO airspace.
11:36Would you shoot them down?
11:37Well, we have a very clear protocol on this.
11:40We've just visited our Air Force headquarters.
11:44I mean, constant conversation, communication with our border guards.
11:49We know exactly what happens, when it happens, and how to deal with things.
11:54And so far, we haven't been in a situation where there's been any need for a shoot down.
11:58And I presume we won't be there either.
12:00So Europe is non-committal.
12:02As of now, they have no unanimous policy for these drones, which brings us to the second question.
12:06Why isn't Brussels calling out Russia?
12:09It could be because of the lack of evidence.
12:11Maybe there is no proof tying Russia to these drones.
12:14Or maybe it's not Russia at all.
12:17Just think back to 2022.
12:19A crucial gas pipeline was blown up in Europe.
12:21The Nord Stream pipeline, it was blown up.
12:24Europe was quick to blame Russia for this attack.
12:25They accused Moscow of weaponizing energy.
12:29But guess what?
12:31It was not Russia that carried out that attack.
12:34It was a Ukrainian hit team.
12:36Reports say the operation was approved by Ukraine's President Zelensky himself.
12:40And the logic is quite simple.
12:42Ukraine wants more European support.
12:44They want Europe to feel like they're under Russian attack.
12:47So could these drones be a similar ploy?
12:51The fact is, we can't be sure.
12:53But keep an eye on Europe's response.
12:57Yes, they don't want to spread panic among the people.
13:00But how long can they ignore this threat?
13:02Eventually, Brussels will have to take a call.
13:05Will it display weakness by allowing these drones to fly?
13:08Or will it shoot them down?
13:11We'll be tracking things closely.
13:16Now let's talk about NVIDIA.
13:18Last week, NVIDIA crossed a big milestone.
13:21It became a $5 trillion company.
13:23The only company in the world to achieve this feat.
13:26This also makes it the world's most valuable company.
13:30And that should be reason to celebrate.
13:31Instead, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is sounding alarm bells.
13:35He says the United States could lose the AI race and that China is pulling ahead.
13:41Huang made the statement at an AI summit.
13:43And there was no ambiguity in what he said.
13:47Let me quote.
13:47China is going to win the AI race.
13:50That was Jensen Huang's blunt message.
13:54But why does he think that China is winning?
13:57Why does he think the U.S. is falling behind?
13:59Well, he gave three reasons.
14:01High energy costs, heavy regulation, and what he called rising cynicism in the West.
14:07The NVIDIA boss highlighted how China is subsidizing energy and offering state support to chipmakers.
14:15He said that for some chipmakers in China, or for chipmakers in China in general, power is free.
14:20And he's not exaggerating.
14:23Look at this report.
14:24It talks about China's latest energy subsidies.
14:27Three local governments have slashed power bills.
14:30Guizu, Inner Mongolia, and Gansu.
14:34They are giving incentives to large data centers.
14:38For them, electricity costs have been cut by up to 50%.
14:42But if you want this discount, there's also a condition.
14:46These companies must use Chinese chips in their facilities.
14:50Only then can they get this 50% discount on their electricity bill.
14:56The goal of the policy is quite clear.
14:58Make local technology cheaper and attractive, especially against NVIDIA.
15:03And Chinese tech giants are already cashing in.
15:05We're talking about companies like ByteDance, Alibaba, and Tencent.
15:09Their power bills have been slashed by half.
15:13Those using NVIDIA's imported chips do not qualify for these discounts.
15:16The message, again, is simple.
15:17Use Chinese, not American.
15:20This push is part of a wider plan.
15:24Beijing wants to build an entire AI ecosystem at home.
15:27It is pouring money into all areas, research patents, and infrastructure.
15:32In fact, China already has more patents than any other country in the world.
15:36In the AI space, almost 70% of patents are held by Chinese players.
15:41In research, China accounts for more than 22% of AI citations.
15:45The U.S. stands at 13%.
15:47Jensen Huang says these numbers matter.
15:50Jensen Huang says they have access to NVIDIA.
15:53For nothing to get rid of the hands they have been given to other Stelle,
15:54Eastman also says they have noVAILS.
15:57Is said globally, ...
15:57Vice Satan Billtak anticiy46.
15:59The U.S. USA is registered.
16:00It is located only in Australia in Australia in Australia
16:01the UK and Australia in Australia.
16:02It has added interest to sell companies and capitalization- OrPNext-Ober.
16:03The U.S. difference in California are boundaries.
16:05It is strange.
