00:00FIFA has set a new Guinness World Record for the most nationalities, participating in a football exhibition match with 69 nationalities taking part.
00:12The record-breaking event took place Wednesday and marks a historic achievement for world football.
00:18According to Guinness World Records, all criteria for the attempt were met.
00:22Today we're all together playing in one pitch, trying to break a new record of having most nationality playing in one pitch.
00:33And this also goes along with the vision of FIFA making football, a mission of FIFA making football truly global.
00:40And by making football truly global, also uniting different nationalities in one pitch and around one football ball.
00:53The previous record achieved in 2019 in Lyon, France, by the Equal Playing Field Initiative, included 53 nationalities.
01:02FIFA's new milestone surpasses that figure, showing the incredible unifying power of the game.
01:07You could see everyone's joy, the excitement, the atmosphere. It's truly extraordinary.
01:15This shows there's this cultural and social mixing, and there's equality with men and women playing together, which is really exceptional.
01:23Football is mixed. It's for men, it's for women.
01:26This proves that men and women can play football together, and I think that is exactly FIFA's vision.
01:32Qualified referees, official witnesses, and video evidence were used to confirm compliance with the rules.
01:41The match was both competitive and symbolic, celebrating diversity, teamwork, and friendship.
01:46Each player that participated today had to be on the pitch and contribute for at least 10 minutes.
01:53So that meant if I wasn't satisfied, if someone wasn't participating, they didn't touch the ball, they were not going to be counted towards the final total.
02:00So effort was a really important part of that, and team effort is what I think they're celebrating right now.
02:04Some more of the rules involved having qualified referees that would see the match, independent witnesses that were experienced and able to keep check on all of the rules that were met.
02:15We got video evidence. We had to see that they were participating to the best of their ability.
02:20FIFA described the achievement as a powerful demonstration of football's global reach and its ability to bring people together, regardless of nationality, language, or culture.
