MP calls for clarity on Trump’s RM5mil hotel bill during Asean Summit

Kampar MP Chong Zhemin has urged the Finance Ministry to clarify reports claiming that US President Donald Trump’s stay in Malaysia during the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits may have incurred a hotel bill of around RM5mil.   During the committee-stage debate on the 2026 Supply Bill on Thursday (Nov 6), Chong questioned whether the expenses were covered by the US government or borne by Malaysia’s Finance Ministry.
