00:00Have you got what it takes to make it all the way to our final question and join the 1% Club?
00:16Anyone has a chance to win because this quiz isn't about how much you know,
00:19it's about how your brain really works.
00:21As all our questions are about logic and common sense.
00:24So who will make it to the end and answer a question only 1% of the country can get right
00:28and win up to £100,000.
00:32Let's play the 1% Club.
00:38And hoping to win tonight, it's our 100 players.
00:43So come on, give us a cheer if you think you've got what it takes to go all the way tonight.
00:49Lady in the front there, what's your name?
00:51Jasmine.
00:51Hello Jasmine, how are you?
00:53I'm great, thanks.
00:54You look spectacularly happy.
00:56Oh, thank you.
00:56Are you very confident?
00:58Fake it till you make it, isn't it?
00:59Is that what you do?
01:00Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:01Yeah, my wife says that.
01:02And give me a cheer if you think you'll do badly tonight.
01:06Somebody up there, already defeated.
01:08What's your name?
01:09Lee.
01:09Oh, Lee.
01:10That's not a winner's name, is it?
01:11Not really.
01:13What do you do, Lee?
01:14I'm an engineer for an industrial door company.
01:16Oh, right.
01:17I make roller shutters.
01:19Right.
01:19And I'm into them.
01:20You're into them?
01:21Oh, yeah.
01:22Oh.
01:23I love a roller shutter, Lee.
01:25Are you auditioning to be on Wallace and Gromit?
01:29Whenever I go out with my wife, when we go shopping, I'll be looking at the shutters instead of the clothes.
01:34She's a lucky lady.
01:35She is.
01:36Why do you think you're going to do so badly?
01:37I keep having a recurring nightmare that I go out on the first question.
01:40Really?
01:41Yeah.
01:41Is that the ultimate fear, though?
01:42That I'm the only one who goes out on the first question, and then you just hear the boom, and it's me.
01:46Do you know what?
01:47I'm not tempted fate.
01:48This is genuinely true.
01:49We did a soccer aid special.
01:51I don't know if you saw it.
01:52Yeah.
01:52One person went out first round.
01:54Dermot Gallagher, the referee.
01:55Yeah.
01:56He was sat in that seat.
01:57But I'm sure it won't happen again.
02:01Good luck.
02:03So, I must really work on my pep talks, mustn't I?
02:06Okay, don't forget, you can play along at home if you want.
02:08All you have to do is download the app.
02:09Okay, before we ask our first question, here's a reminder of how the show works.
02:13We asked a cross-section of people from all over Britain a list of our unique questions.
02:18Based on their answers, we can tell statistically what percentage of the country should get each one right.
02:24Tonight, I'll be asking those exact questions to our 100 contestants, beginning with the easier one that 90% of Britain got right,
02:31and ending with the most challenging question that only 1% of the great British public answered correctly.
02:37At the start of the show, every contestant is given a £1,000 stake.
02:41If they get any question wrong, they are out of the game, and the £1,000 is transferred to the 1% prize pot.
02:48Whoever gets the furthest in the quiz wins £10,000, and the chance to answer the final 1% question to win everything in the prize pot,
02:56and take home up to £100,000.
03:02Right, let's get on with it. It's time for our first question.
03:05So, this is one that 90% of our survey got right, and let's see how you do in the studio.
03:11Which country is being spelt out here?
03:15And your time starts now.
03:20If you get this wrong, you'll be kicking yourself, and so will the rest of your family when you get home.
03:23OK, your time is up.
03:41Right, let's see who's lights stay on and are still in the game, and how many people are out.
03:45We lost no-one. Let's have a look at the answer.
04:01CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:02CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:04CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:05CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:06CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:07CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:08Hey, Lee.
04:09Hello.
04:10I've got some great news for you.
04:11The good news is your nightmare has not come true, because you're not out on the 90% question.
04:14Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:15Bad news is you could still be the first person out on the 80% question.
04:17CHIN PLACE IS CHINA.
04:18But good luck.
04:19Another Lee, Lee Owen.
04:20I'm not only going to talk to the Lees tonight, don't worry.
04:22Lee Owen, where are you?
04:23Hello, Lee.
04:24How are you?
04:25Good, thanks.
04:26Oh, good.
04:27That's a very brave shirt.
04:28What do you do, Lee?
04:30I'm an ICT programme manager, but my favourite job was when I used to work in a bakery.
04:35Oh, OK.
04:36Why such a good job?
04:37I used to be in charge of the muffin line.
04:39Right.
04:40Is that a euphemism or is that a genuine job?
04:42No.
04:43Genuine job.
04:44OK.
04:45What does the muffin line involve?
04:46So you had to sprinkle all the toppings on the muffins when they came along.
04:50But you had different techniques.
04:52For sprinkling?
04:53For sprinkling, yeah.
04:54Show me.
04:55So you had the abacabra for the chocolate chips.
04:59OK.
05:00Lift off for the blueberries.
05:02I've never seen anyone speak so passionately about muffins, but go on.
05:05You had the for the jam.
05:08Oh, thank God.
05:09First flat.
05:10Yeah.
05:11And you had the drop it like it's hot for the white chocolate.
05:15It didn't melt if you held it for too long.
05:16So you held the white chocolate and then just let it drop?
05:18Yeah.
05:19What about the dark chocolate or the milk chocolate, what was the technique for that?
05:21We didn't sell that one.
05:22You seem quite passionate about that.
05:23Why did you leave and go into IT?
05:24I got old.
05:25Is it a young man's game, muffin dropping?
05:26Yeah.
05:27Well done, everybody.
05:28It's very unusual that no one goes out, but you've all gone through.
05:29Well done.
05:30So there are still 100 people left in the game and the £1,000 of everyone who got the question
05:37wrong goes into the prize pot.
05:38I think we know what that's done to it.
05:39Let's have a look.
05:40So the good news is you're all in.
05:41The bad news is there's no prize.
05:42Right, it's time for the 80% question.
05:43So this is a question that 80% of the people we asked managed to get right.
05:57Let's see how you get on with this one.
06:04And your time starts now.
06:10This looks like Wales' most popular nursery rhyme.
06:29OK, your time is up.
06:31Let's see if you got it right.
06:47Oh, we've only lost one of you there.
06:48Let's have a look at the answer.
06:51It's Bar Bar Black Sheep.
06:52So we have lost Sarah McKeever.
06:54Hello, Sarah.
06:55What did you put?
06:56I put Bar Bar Black Sheep and then I deleted it.
06:59Oh.
07:00That's not a good idea.
07:01Because I thought it was a trick question.
07:03Why did you think it was a trick question?
07:05Well, do you know what I put?
07:06What?
07:07Mary had a little lamb.
07:09And I was running out of time.
07:12I am struggling to find any letters in there where that could possibly be true.
07:17I was running out of time.
07:18So you saw Bar Bar Black Sheep?
07:19I know.
07:20I'm sorry, I'm not helping, am I?
07:21I can't believe I'm the first one out.
07:23Yeah, Lee's happy.
07:26Who's waiting to find out how you're getting on?
07:28Hot Kev.
07:29Hot Kev?
07:30What's he?
07:31Is he a person or a...?
07:32Well, we only knew what his first name was when I met him.
07:36And then by the time we realised what his surname was, we were already introducing him as Hot Cave.
07:42Three years later, we're still calling him Hot Cave.
07:44That's how I introduce him.
07:45But then he gets a bit embarrassed.
07:47He's like, just Kev's fine.
07:48Oh, yeah.
07:49Well, at least he's got something else to be embarrassed about now.
07:52So...
07:53I'm joking.
07:54I'm joking.
07:55I'm joking.
07:56Let's see what that's done to the prize putt.
07:58Look, she's put £1,000 in the prize putt.
08:01Thank you, Sarah.
08:02Hot Kev will be delighted.
08:04Right, we're on to the 70% question.
08:07Let's have a look at it.
08:10If Mabel is married to Abe and Scarlet is married to Carl, who is Bianca married to?
08:16And your time starts now.
08:21I don't think they just all swap.
08:22It's 2025.
08:23No-one's going to judge them.
08:25I bet Hot Kev would get involved.
08:43OK, your time is up.
08:44Let's see who got it right.
08:46MUSIC
09:04Right, we've lost seven people.
09:05Let's have a look at the answer.
09:12I should have actually rephrased that one.
09:15Oh
09:18So somebody who got that wrong is Matthew broads. Where are you really? All right, Matthew? What did you put Jeff?
09:25Jeff
09:26What was your logic? I just panicked. Yeah, what do you do your spare time any hobbies?
09:31Play five side. Okay any good?
09:34Well, I like to stop the ball in my face
09:36That's pretty good. You're a goalkeeper. Yeah. Yeah. Goalkeeper. Yeah. Why do you use your face? Have you not got any hands?
09:41Yeah, I'm not quick with my hands and my face just goes. Yeah, so your face is taking most of the hits. Yeah
09:47You're a good-looking bloke. It doesn't look like you've been pummeled endlessly with a football
09:51Thank you very much. I appreciate that. That's quite dark in here. Yeah
09:55What would you have done with the money Matthew? I would have bought a box of Villa Park. Oh, you have Naston Villa fan
10:00I have I got a son called Aston and my cat's called Villa. No, you haven't I have yeah, there's some call Aston. Yeah, but you really support Arsenal
10:08So I'm lucky that let's see what's done to the prize pot
10:15Eight thousand pounds
10:20Right, it's time for the 60% question
10:24Right, let's have a look at it
10:27If you reposition the digit shown below what is the closest number to five thousand you can get
10:34Okay, your time starts now
10:38Okay, your time is up let's see you've got it right
11:08All right
11:10All right
11:29Wow we lost 14 people did someone clap the people that were out?
11:32bit harsh
11:34If you're in you don't clap the people that are out. Yes, we've lost loads
11:38We've lost 14 people there. Let's have a look at the answer
11:414951 it is only 49 away whereas 5149 which I suspect a lot of people put is a hundred and forty nine away
11:48Somebody who got it wrong is Elena a digblee. Where are you? I'm over here. Hi. What did you put? I?
11:54I made a big mistake
11:56You didn't put bar bar black sheep did you? No, I didn't but I saw the number even though it said 5,000
12:01I read it for some reason as 10,000
12:03So I put nine five four one. Oh, okay. Yeah, so completely
12:08Yeah, probably if my maths are correct couldn't have been further away
12:13Unfortunately, yeah, never mind. What do you do?
12:16I'm retired retired. Hmm. You look very young to be retired. Thank you. It's very kind
12:21Are you one of these people that is older than you look? Yes, I think I'm similar age to you
12:26Don't like the provocative way you did that
12:29That was very central
12:31Think I'm a similar age to you. I was expecting them with the hair and it all come down
12:36Alright, well, that's lovely. You're 37 as well. I'm lucky. Let's see what that's done to the prize pot
12:4122,000 pounds
12:47Right, it's time for a quick break. We've lost 22 people here already. Hope you're doing okay at home
12:51And don't forget you can play along on the app after the break
12:54We'll be moving closer to seeing if anyone here can answer the 1% question. See you in a bit
12:57We started off with 100 people and now we are down to 78 the person who does best here tonight could be going home
13:17with up to 100,000 pounds
13:21So welcome to everyone who's still in the game and from now on we're going to give you the option to pay for a pass to the next question
13:27And if you do your 1,000 pounds will be transferred to the prize pot
13:31However, if you get as far as the 30% question without using your pass
13:35You'll get the chance to take your 1,000 pounds and leave the game right. It is time for the 50% question
13:41Let's have a look how many of these dancers have the left leg in the air the time starts now
14:11Okay, your time is up is it just me thinking it would have been funnier if they'd have all been just stood next to a lamp post
14:29Let's see who got it right
14:41Wow that is a massacre were you lot listening when I said you had a pass?
14:58We've lost 22 people. Let's have a look at the answer
15:02It's four there. They are in a red circle. So Sky Fowler. Where are you? Hi Lee. We've lost a lot of people
15:08You're one of many. What did you put sky human? Um, I put six which were the ones that you did you get them for all right?
15:14I panicked right and then I went to check it again
15:18I thought I just pressed six and I was like, oh, yeah, maybe the first time I had a pass as well, but you were pretty confident with the six
15:27Are you a competitive person Scott? Yeah
15:30You do look genuinely angry
15:32I'm so angry. Why didn't you use your pass? I'm so warm. I'm so mad. I don't know. Oh, well, never mind Sky
15:37Who are you gonna tell when you get home? Who's waiting to find out? Well, my friend Molly is sat over there. Oh, you've come with somebody else?
15:42Yes, we've come together. Hello. Hello, how are you? Not happy. When did you go out?
15:48Did you go out on this one? Just this one, yeah
15:50Did you come with any other friends today? Um, no, just just me and Sky. Sky's the limit, I suppose
15:56Let's see what that's done to the prize pot
15:58Okay, it's time for the 45% question
16:10Let's take a look at this one
16:13Daniel has an encyclopedia set on his bookshelf each volume has the same width and the bookcase is completely full when all the volumes are
16:20Upright on the shelves. How many has Daniel taken off the shelves to read? Okay, your time starts now
16:28Okay, time is up. Let's see whose lights are still on
16:58Right we lost 12 people. Let's have a look at the answer
17:22It's six and there they are
17:26Okay, someone who's got that wrong is Jane Todd. I'm here. What did you put Jane? I put seven
17:33Seven that's annoying. I know I think I've been jinxed because someone's got the same top on as me
17:39In the room in the room. I am for human
17:43I could spot her now. Can we have a shot of the woman in the same top?
17:46I
17:49Have you spotted her? I have
17:51What shop did you get yours from? New look in Tesco? What did you get it from? New look at Arnest in Durham?
17:56Yeah, you both went for new look. Yeah, which is exactly the same look
18:02Are you the same from the waist down as well? That sounded awful
18:06Listen unlucky Jane and also we lost Lucy Dodders great name Lucy Dodders. Hi, what did you put Lucy?
18:14I put eight. Okay, I can't remember why
18:18Okay, well probably because you thought there was two more. Yeah, what do you do Lucy?
18:21I'm a children's nursing student. Okay, what do you do in your spare time Lucy?
18:25Go out dancing. Very nice. Yes, I've got a signature move. Have you?
18:29Yes, but you called the Poe the what the Poe would you like to show us the Poe? Yes, it's a Michael Jackson move
18:36I'll show you my new friend Harris. I'm a new friend Simon. Okay, so do me to get up and do it. You do, but I don't think they do
18:44Okay
18:45You put one hand on your head to one hand on your crotch. Yes, you go like this and you just go like this
18:52And then all my friends stand around me in a circle and go po po po
18:56That's it. Well done Lucy. Um, let's see what that's done to the prize pot
19:0370,000 pounds
19:05Okay, it's time for the 40 percent question
19:10Let's take a look at it
19:13Which of the statements below is correct and your time starts now
19:25Right it's time is up. Let's see you got it, right
19:50I
19:58I
20:00I
20:02I
20:04I
20:06I
20:08I
20:10I
20:12That one let's have a look at the answer
20:14It is C a is missing I B is only missing one vowel you all the vowels are used
20:19In C let's talk someone who got it wrong paddy mystery. That is a good name. Thanks. Where are you from paddy mystery?
20:26Uh near manchester hang on. I think you also got the same top on us the other two ladies
20:32This happened again
20:33What did you put for that one? I put B just a mistake or there was a logic just a mistake
20:38There's a lot of words to read there isn't and there's only once the time had gone that I realized that
20:43That C was the right one unlucky somebody's got it right is emma armstrong. Where are you emma?
20:48No, you've got a very strong arm, aren't you and what do you do emma? I work in
20:53In finance, I've done loads of jobs. I used to work in a call center. I can't do that anymore. Why too polite?
20:59No, so um, I was on the phone to some bloke and
21:02I said oh, just give me a few seconds to look through your details
21:07So it was quiet and I assume he had his partner in the room with him, but I didn't realize at the time
21:12And he said I love you
21:16And I he was obviously saying it to his partner, but I didn't know what to do
21:19So I just went I love you too
21:23Why did you say that did you just instinctively if someone says it to you you say it back don't you I love you
21:29I love you too. Wow instantly
21:32Never mind listen, you're still in emma. Thanks. Okay, let's see what that's done to the prize pot
21:4078 000 pounds
21:43Right let's move on to the 35 question
21:47Here it is
21:50These three pictures each portray different four letter words that all use the same four letters
21:55What four letter word describes the middle picture?
21:59Okay, you have 30 seconds and your time starts now
22:05Don't think of this as a question you will answer think of it instead as prize money, you won't we
22:10Okay, time is up right let's see got it right and how many people are out
22:40Right we lost seven of you though. Let's have a look at the answer
22:57It is swap somebody who got it wronged is gareth bateman. Where are you gareth?
23:01Who are you all right gareth? Yeah, not really. Oh, what did you put pass?
23:08I wrote pass. Yeah
23:10That is annoying. What are you to gareth fight fighter? Are you have you been on tv before gareth?
23:16Yeah, I have yeah
23:16Thought I recognized you what you've been on release the hounds release the hounds what's that all right?
23:21I think it's finished now, but basically you do some tasks in the forest with two of your friends
23:26And how quick you do the tasks depends on how much head start you get from the dogs
23:30Sorry, wait a minute. Just wait. You're telling me there's a tv show
23:35Where you get tasks and then you have to run through a forest whilst dogs chase you?
23:39Yeah, what if the dogs catch you? I take you down really attacks you
23:43Yeah, down and then you're out and you lose the money and a limb. Yeah. Yeah. What was your task?
23:50I've got buried in the coffin alive before I was what was this on?
23:55What channel was it on?
23:56ITV2. Some dark channel. Oh, ITV2. Yeah, ITV2. Oh, so you're probably naked as well
24:02Wow, it's good good experience. Yeah, well, this is probably easy in comparison, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, well done gareth
24:08Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot
24:1385,000 pounds
24:15Time for a quick break. Well done to everyone still in the game
24:18We'll see you in a bit when someone here could win up to 100,000 pounds
24:34Welcome back to the 1% club we've been asking questions which have been tested out on a cross-section of the british public
24:39We've been whittling down the contestants here tonight and are left with 28 people with their lights still on
24:45As a reward any contestant who hasn't played their pass and still has the thousand pounds now has a choice
24:51Play on for the big money in the prize pot or you can take your thousand pounds and leave the quiz right now
24:56So first of all, let's see which players still have the thousand pounds
25:01Okay, so those of you with your lights on you can take your money and leave the show if you want
25:05Make your decision right now
25:20Right so three of you have decided to take your thousand pounds and leave the game including latte lie
25:26What made you take the money?
25:28I just wasn't confident that I'll go all the way. I've never done the one percent question before really
25:32Yeah, did you always plan when you came here and going when I get the grand?
25:36Yeah, a hundred percent. So you were very happy on that last question. Yeah, yeah, good stuff. What are you gonna do with the money?
25:40I'm just gonna have a baby soon
25:42So my wife wants us to get like all the baby equipment, but I've never been to liverpool so and i'm a liverpool fan, so i'm gonna buy tickets
25:50That started off such a beautiful story, but you're actually gonna blow it on tickets for liverpool instead
25:54Yeah, so maybe you can do both for a thousand quid. Can you?
25:57I want a nice seat
25:59Okay, I'm trying to help you out laughing. That's all i'm doing well. Well done you three you've just taken away a thousand pounds. Well done
26:09Okay, so the rest of you have decided to play on let's see if that gamble will pay off and if any of you can go all the way and join the
26:14One percent club right it's time for the 30 percent question
26:19Let's take a look
26:22Ken refuses to watch the weather forecast and just repeats wearing the same sequence of rainy weather outfit

27:02OK, your time is up.
27:12I always know when someone thinks they've got the right answer,
27:14because like the gentleman in the front there,
27:16he starts dancing during the 30 seconds.
27:18Right, let's see who got it right.
27:32Right, we lost three people on that one.
27:36Let's have a look at the answer.
27:38It is Saturday.
27:40Simon Parry, you didn't know it, did you?
27:42I did use my pass, and I worked it out probably one second
27:46after I pressed pass, so I was a bit disappointed in myself,
27:49actually, but still in.
27:50Never mind, that's what it's for.
27:51And have you got plans for the money?
27:52Well, my wife has.
27:54She has ordered me to have some kind of surgery to stop my snoring.
27:58What kind of surgery? Are you having your nose removed?
28:00Who knows?
28:01What can you do?
28:02Can you have surgery if you're snoring?
28:03I don't know, anything.
28:05Even if it's exploratory surgery, who knows?
28:07Have you tried the tape?
28:09I've tried everything, and it's not...
28:11If you put the tape over your wife's mouth,
28:13she can't sleep nagging about it.
28:15Somebody got it right is Shafaz Hashmi.
28:18Well done.
28:20You were the one that was dancing, right?
28:22I saw you dancing there.
28:23In the 30 seconds, you were using the music to dance to it.
28:26I just like to have a jig with a tune.
28:28You got it straight away, you were confident.
28:29Have you still got your pass?
28:30Yeah.
28:31That's good.
28:32You must be one of the favourites.
28:33You feeling confident?
28:34Um, yeah.
28:35Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
28:36If I look up on the next question, you're not dancing.
28:38Does that mean you don't know?
28:39Yeah, it's over.
28:40Just intimidate everyone.
28:42Dance on the 1% question.
28:43That would be brilliant.
28:44Good luck.
28:45And let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
28:47£88,000.
28:48Right, we are at the 25% stage now.
28:49It's getting serious.
28:50Here's the question.
28:51Let's have a look.
28:52This is an incomplete school timetable.
28:53Maths is taught before English but cannot be taught before geography.
28:57History is the class just before lunch.
28:59What subject is taught in class five?
29:02Time starts now.
29:03Time starts now.
29:04Time starts now.
29:17Time starts now.
29:18Time starts now.
29:19Time starts now.
29:21Time starts now.
29:23Time starts now.
29:24Time starts now.
29:26If the course is right, this can be done on Google Earth.
29:30How does when we have the fik?
29:33It's theů.
29:34Seated.
29:37It's theů pouvaités.
29:40They made the most leaders think they've been influenced both sides and thereof of course.
29:44Me and Eve will have aiy bow in the pro.
29:48OK, your time is up. Let's see if you got it right.
30:10Right, we lost five people. Let's have a look at the answer.
30:14It's English. History is just before lunch, so is class three.
30:17Geography has to be class one and maths class two,
30:20because we know maths before English, but not before geography.
30:23English can only be last.
30:25Somebody who got it right is Natalie Alibi. Hi. Natalie Alibi.
30:28That's a good name, Alibi. Thank you.
30:30Where were you last Wednesday?
30:32Now, Natalie, you are one of only three people in this room
30:37that has a past. I've got proper imposter syndrome.
30:40Literally, yeah. That was proper dramatic hand-women as well.
30:44That's amazing, though. You are down to the 20% question
30:47with a past, and only three people have a past.
30:49How does that feel?
30:51All I've got... You know when the lady said the story about
30:53saying I love you at work? Yes. Yes.
30:55All I could think about was, years ago, one of the top bosses at work
30:58came to say something to me in a loud work party,
31:01and when she came to speak to me, she went to talk in my ear,
31:04and I kissed her thinking she was going to, like, kiss me hello,
31:07and it was really embarrassing.
31:08And that's all I could think of when she told her story,
31:10and that's in my head. And what did she do?
31:11Nothing. She just kind of looked at me and said, like, what are you doing?
31:13Was it very awkward? Very awkward.
31:15Well, good luck tonight. Thank you.
31:16Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
31:18We're on that. £94,000.
31:24We've got 17 people still in the game,
31:26and we're down to the 20% question now.
31:31Let's take a look.
31:33What word is written out by the cards?
31:36What word is written out by the cards?
31:39Your time starts now.
31:48OK, your time is up. Let's see if you got it right.
32:14Right, we've lost seven people there. Let's have a look at the answer.
32:35There it is.
32:37Stakes. Each card represents the first letter of its value.
32:40The suit is irrelevant.
32:42Somebody who's still with us is Harris Abassi.
32:45Hello, Harris.
32:46Well done. Thank you.
32:48Feeling good? Feeling OK.
32:49The last couple have been sort of, like, semi-guesses.
32:51Have they? Got your pass?
32:52No, I've lost it.
32:53I've lost it at 35%, I think it was.
32:55OK.
32:56How well were you expected to do before you came here?
32:58Sometimes I go at 80%.
33:00OK.
33:01Sometimes I go right out to 1%.
33:02How many times have you got the 1% question right at home?
33:04Oh, probably maybe two or three times.
33:07That's not a bad hit rate.
33:08But usually it takes more than 30 seconds.
33:11Oh, OK.
33:12So in that case, you don't get the 1% question right.
33:15What's on your shopping list if you win?
33:17I'm a big Lego fan, so I like to do a lot of the Lego, like,
33:20Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, F1.
33:22Yeah.
33:23So I wanted to kind of go to the extreme with 100,000
33:25and try to build as big a Lego building as I can make.
33:27OK.
33:28Out of 100,000.
33:29Well, I now speak on behalf of the nation, Harris, when I say,
33:31Grow up.
33:32There's only one person in the room still with a pass.
33:35Yes.
33:36And that is Shafaz Hashmi.
33:37Yes.
33:38The only person.
33:39You know that makes you the favourite, right?
33:44But just to make the others feel better, he stopped dancing.
33:47I've noticed this.
33:48I'm getting stressed.
33:49He's getting lost.
33:50Yeah, yeah.
33:51OK, listen.
33:52Good luck to you and all of you still in.
33:53Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
33:5496,000 pounds.
33:59Right, it's getting very serious.
34:01We're getting close to the end and it's time for the 15% question.
34:06Let's take a look.
34:09In this puzzle, different letters are represented by different patterns.
34:13Using the information below, what is the only three-letter word
34:17that can be read from left to right across consecutive boxes?
34:2230 seconds starts now.
34:52OK, time is up.
34:56Let's see whose lights are still on.
35:12Right, we just lost one person there.
35:14Let's have a look at the answer.
35:16It's tap.
35:18There they are, the three letters.
35:19T-A-P.
35:20Someone who got it right is Harry Waterhouse.
35:22Hello.
35:23Well done, Harry.
35:25How quick did you get that?
35:26Reasonably quick.
35:27Obviously, the upwards lines aren't on the bottom,
35:29so there's only three in a row.
35:30Yeah.
35:31You say obviously, right?
35:32That's what annoyed me in rehearsal when I got it wrong,
35:35because I was looking for the ones that don't appear.
35:37Yeah.
35:38I found that irritating.
35:39Oh, really?
35:40But you found it obvious?
35:41Unfortunately for you, yes.
35:42Yes.
35:43You're getting on my nerves.
35:44Hi.
35:45What do you do?
35:46I am a chemical engineering student.
35:48What do you do in your spare time?
35:49Well, I work at JD and then I do kickboxing on the side.
35:52Kickboxing?
35:53Yeah.
35:54I might have said annoying.
35:55I mean, you're just...
35:56You're not annoying, are you?
35:57Lovely lad.
35:58Good luck, Harry.
35:59Thank you very much.
36:00I could still have you, though.
36:02Tina Fritchley.
36:03Hi.
36:04You're still with us?
36:05Yeah.
36:06Right next to kickboxing.
36:07What do you do?
36:08I'm an accounts clock.
36:09Did you find that easy?
36:10Pretty easy, yes.
36:11All right.
36:12Sorry.
36:13How well do you think you'll do?
36:14Do you think you're going to go the whole way tonight?
36:15I've not got my pass, obviously.
36:17What did you use that on?
36:18The ballet question.
36:19Oh, the ballet one?
36:20Yeah.
36:21Yeah, I found that quite obvious.
36:23Well, listen, good luck to you.
36:26And just so you know, Shafaz has still got his pass.
36:30So, well done, Shafaz.
36:31He's not letting it go.
36:33Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
36:36Now, a change, of course, because you've got the pass.
36:40Right, we are down to our last nine players.
36:44After the break, we'll find out which of our remaining contestants
36:46could go on to play the 1% question.
36:48See you in a bit.
36:49Welcome back to the 1% Club.
37:03We're very nearly at the point where we will discover who our winner will be.
37:06Now, here's how the end of the game works.
37:08Whoever does the best here tonight will win £10,000.
37:11But if they're feeling brave, they can risk their £10,000 by trying to answer the 1% question.
37:16Get it right, and they will win everything in the prize pot, which is currently standing at...
37:21£96,000.
37:23APPLAUSE
37:25And remember, Shafaz, because you still have your £1,000, you can pay for a pass,
37:30but you can't use it on the 1% question.
37:33But if you've still got it at the 1% question, then you'll get to keep that £1,000 no matter what happens.
37:38Right, there are nine people left in the quiz, and it's now time for the 10% question.
37:43Let's take a look at this one.
37:46In your mind, picture a 5x5 grid of 25 squares with the letters of the alphabet running sequentially
37:55from left to right, starting with A in the top left and ending with Y in the bottom right.
38:02What letter is one square to the left of the furthest letter on the right on the middle row?
38:09OK, your time starts now.
38:12.
38:42OK, your time is up. Right, let's see if you've got it right.
39:00We lost just one person, though. Let's have a look at the answer.
39:03It's N. There it is in the grid.
39:06Oh, no, we've lost Harry. Kickboxing Harry.
39:09Yeah. What did you put, Harry?
39:11I put O, but I originally, I then recounted went O.
39:15Oh, no, you changed it. That is gut-wrenching.
39:17Unlucky, Harry. You did well to get this far.
39:19I feel so bad, I wouldn't even do the joke of going,
39:21I found it obvious. I'm not going to do that.
39:24Unlucky, Harry.
39:25And one person still has their pass.
39:28It's Shabazz.
39:31Now, obviously, the only person in the room with a pass means
39:34you are the favourite, there's no getting round it,
39:36but who, with their lights on, do you think is the threat
39:40to you, Shafazz?
39:41Oh, I do get an annoyingly confident vibe from this guy behind me.
39:45Sorry.
39:46That's a very honest...
39:48I like it when they're heckling each other.
39:50This is great.
39:51But, yeah, it's good that he gives a confident vibe.
39:53OK.
39:54I don't know, I feel like they could all be dark horses.
39:56Yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:57Anyone you think hasn't got a chance with their lights?
39:58No, I'm joking.
39:59Why would you say that?
40:00Well, listen, good luck, Shafazz, you've still got your pass,
40:02which means you're in a very good position.
40:04If you want, you can buy your way into the 1% question,
40:06whatever happens.
40:07We'll see what the question is, though.
40:08Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
40:12Nothing at all.
40:13OK, we saw £96,000.
40:15Harry had already used his pass.
40:17So we are down to the 5% question.
40:21Remember, Shafazz, this is the last time you can use your pass.
40:24OK?
40:25Let's have a look at it.
40:28Below are two four-digit numbers with the digits in alternating order.
40:32What is the total when you add those two four-digit numbers together?
40:37Time starts now.
40:54OK, time is up. Let's see if we've got it right.
41:12Right, we lost five people.
41:31Bad luck.
41:32Well done for getting this far.
41:33Let's have a look at the answer.
41:35It's 5-5-5-5, and there's the maths to prove it.
41:38So we have our finalists.
41:40Congratulations, Haris Abassi, Simon Parry and Shafazz Hashmi.
41:46You've made it through to the 1% question.
41:48Come down and join me.
41:57Because you've done so well and made it to our final question,
41:59you win a share of £10,000.
42:02But now you all face a dilemma.
42:04You can leave the show tonight and take your share, which works out at...
42:07£3,333.
42:11Or you can risk it all by attempting the 1% question.
42:15Get it right, you win your share of everything in the prize pot, which stands at...
42:19£97,000.
42:22Get it wrong, of course, you leave with nothing.
42:27Obviously, if one of you decides to play and gets it right, then you'll win all the prize pot.
42:31If more than one of you decide to play, you'll win a share of it.
42:34And just so you know, Shafazz, you didn't know the last one you used to pass, didn't you?
42:38I was a bit confused.
42:40Sometimes you think you know it, but then you get it wrong.
42:42You didn't want to risk it.
42:43Fair enough.
42:44So, unfortunately, you don't take your guaranteed £1,000.
42:46And also, if you look to your left, you'll find there's a slightly annoying confident vibe coming off.
42:52Because Harris has, in fact, made it to the final, as you sort of predicted.
42:56So, good luck to all three of you.
42:58So, now it's time to make your choice.
43:12Okay, all of your lights are on, which means that you've decided to play on.
43:21So, after whittling down the contestants here in the studio, we are left with the 1% question.
43:29If you all get this right, you will win your share of the prize pot and become members of the 1% Club.
43:35Good luck. This is your 1% question.
43:41You should always read the small print very carefully.
43:45How many errors are there in the Ts and Cs below?
43:50And your time starts now.
43:58And now it's your 10% question as you've already finished, and if you don't forget, it isn't aí•´.
44:13Right, your time's up.
44:24OK, your answers are locked in, so we may as well ask what you put,
44:28because you can't change them.
44:29We'll start with you, Shafaz.
44:31I don't want to go first.
44:33No-one can change them, so it doesn't matter who we go first.
44:35I put five. You put five.
44:37OK, Harris, what did you put?
44:39I put three. You put five. I think it's wrong.
44:42OK, and Simon, what did you put?
44:44Eight. You put eight.
44:46So quite a spread of numbers there.
44:48Right, our contestants think it's five, three or eight.
44:51Let's have a look at the correct answer.
44:59It's seven. Unlucky.
45:02Simon, you were the closest with eight.
45:04Commiserations, you didn't make it into the 1% Club,
45:06but congratulations on getting this far.
45:08See you next time, and hopefully someone will go all the way
45:11and join the 1% Club. Good night.
