00:30To be continued...
01:00...team.
01:06They're picking up the torch and carrying a movement that Charlie created.
01:11And from here, it's only getting bigger.
01:15But to understand how we got here, we have to go back to how it all started.
01:20And that's where we begin.
01:21My exclusive sit-down interview with Erica Kirk.
01:25Who was Charlie Kirk?
01:39I can't help but smile when I hear his name or say it.
01:46He was the love of my life.
01:48Still is.
01:50Phenomenal father.
01:52Incredible man.
01:53Good friend.
01:54Very loyal.
01:55He had a great dry sense of humor.
02:00He built something so incredible.
02:05And he was a bridge in our country.
02:09Meaning he had the gift of communication.
02:13He could talk to the younger generations.
02:16He could talk to a donor group.
02:19He could talk to the President of the United States.
02:23Charlie and Erica first met through their mutual friend.
02:28The now COO of Turning Point, Tyler Boyer.
02:32Erica, a college athlete and former Miss Arizona, had graduated from Arizona State University.
02:39She was living in New York City.
02:41And Tyler had what he thought was the perfect job for her.
02:45He said, we have this youth organization.
02:50You know, would love to get you involved.
02:52I briefly met Charlie for maybe two minutes.
02:55Quick handshake.
02:56Hi, nice to meet you.
02:57Mind you, I did not know after that brief meeting that Tyler and Charlie had sat down.
03:01And Tyler was like, this is the girl that I need to hire for.
03:04Something with regard to the faith component of the outreach that they were trying to start.
03:09And he was like, so next time you're in New York, you really should sit down with her.
03:13And then that kind of sparked into everything else.
03:17They did end up having that meeting in New York.
03:20And what started as a job interview quickly drew the spark that Erica was talking about.
03:27And so then we had a great time.
03:29And it was about 15 minutes in.
03:31I quickly pivoted away from wanting to hire her to wanting to date her.
03:36And now we know how that worked quite well.
03:38He grilled me for hours.
03:41Grilling is probably not the proper term, but we debated back and forth.
03:47Philosophy, politics, theology, anything that Charlie loved to talk about, we talked about it.
03:52And afterwards, he was done eating.
03:55And he just looked at me and he goes, you know, I'm not going to hire you.
03:59And I said, I did not need the job.
04:01I said, I was fine with consulting with you guys if you needed anything with regard to help.
04:06I have plenty of things going on in New York City.
04:08He said, I'm going to date you.
04:11He said, you don't want to just be friends for a little bit.
04:15And I told her I had enough friends and that I didn't want to be friends with her.
04:20So that was kind of a non-starter.
04:24But if she wanted a date, that would be great.
04:25I had enough friends.
04:27And I think she still finds that to be very funny.
04:29But I meant it.
04:30And I tried to process that on the walk home where, and that's when I called my mom.
04:37And she was like, oh, did you, are you working with them?
04:39Are you going to get a job with them?
04:40And I was like, no, but I got a boyfriend.
04:43And it was really, it was a moment.
04:45I literally had to walk home to process everything that just happened.
04:49Because, again, the Lord knew that I needed a man that was going to be so assertive, not play games, not say, yeah, let's just be friends and see how it goes.
04:58Let's just talk it out.
05:00No, he was so direct.
05:02He was so clear.
05:03I want to date you with the intention of marrying you.
05:06He didn't want to waste his time.
05:08He didn't want to waste mine.
05:09When did you know you were in love?
05:12He knew immediately.
05:13And I knew there was something there.
05:18But I, prior to that, was praying that if it was, if he was to be my future husband,
05:26that the Lord would make it so clear that I would have such a peace about it, outside of wearing a suit, outside of work-related events.
05:38And he just was amazing.
05:41Turning point meant a lot, too.
05:46This campus was just two buildings at the time.
05:49But the organization was already well on its way to becoming a force in American politics.
05:56You know, it's funny about leftists on college campuses.
05:59They think they're being rebels.
06:02Yet all their friends are liberal.
06:04Their teachers are liberal.
06:05The music they listen to is liberal.
06:08The textbooks they read are liberal.
06:10The entire culture they live in is liberal.
06:13They're being conformists.
06:15If you want to be a rebel on campus, be a conservative on a college campus.
06:18There's nothing rebellious about that.
06:22He would just engage with everything.
06:24That there was no separation between his work life and his home life.
06:26And I was so proud of him.
06:28And I would tell him, baby, don't, you don't have to rush home.
06:31When you come home, home is waiting for you.
06:33I was never the type of wife that looked at my phone and said,
06:37okay, you better be home at 5 o'clock for dinner when I have it on the table.
06:40Never.
06:41I said, home is here for you when you get home.
06:45Dinner will be ready whenever you're ready to eat.
06:47I will never make you feel guilty for pursuing what the Lord has put on your heart.
06:53Did you know right away that Charlie was destined for something larger than life?
06:59Charlie has a great disposition about him.
07:02So I knew that he was never going to be just, he operated, everyone knew this.
07:06The way he operated his life, he wasn't going to waste time.
07:08He wasn't going to waste the one life that the Lord has blessed him with.
07:11When you get married to someone you love, you never think,
07:15oh, I mean, at least we didn't, what our future was going to look like.
07:21It's not that you sign up for something.
07:24You just marry the love of your life and however that unfolds, it unfolds.
07:29And we both have very similar understandings.
07:34And I knew, obviously I knew his life would be important.
07:42All of our lives are important.
07:43But all I cared about was loving him and being a wife to him, being a mother to his children.
07:49That, to me, was so much more important.
07:52Everything else, I could care less.
07:54Charlie was so disciplined.
07:56He had his routine.
07:57I know.
07:58He worked out.
07:59He did.
07:59He did his reading.
08:00Yeah.
08:01Are you now stepping into that?
08:03Him and I are very similar from the standpoint of making yourself a better person as life goes on.
08:10We all live many lives and we all are constantly trying, at least Charlie and I, we're constantly trying to improve ourselves.
08:19We always worked out.
08:21We had the same trainer because him and I were athletes.
08:24It always goes back to the basic and simple things.
08:27He loved eating clean.
08:28He loved all of that stuff.
08:30But something that was so powerful about Charlie is that he mastered self-control.
08:37He mastered, he would say, know your nature.
08:43He mastered that.
08:44He perfected that from the standpoint of, yes, he was very hard on himself.
08:50I have the journals to prove it.
08:52Very hard on himself.
08:54But he held himself to such a high standard because he wanted the people that were around him to be better also.
09:01He wasn't going to be a leader that told people what to do and not do it.
09:05He worked so hard.
09:06He did.
09:07He was the hardest working person in my business I've ever seen.
09:12Was that hard for you guys to balance that work and the family?
09:16So when we first started dating and when we were first married, we would travel everywhere together.
09:22We were on the road 350 some days out of the year.
09:25And then once we had our first child, it was an adjustment period because I wanted to be home with our little one.
09:32But he was so good about always wanting to come home.
09:37Always wanted to come home.
09:39And I wanted to make sure that he wanted to come home.
09:42Again, that's why I never said, what are you doing?
09:45Why are you gone?
09:46Why are you traveling so much?
09:48I never had those questions because I knew his heart and I knew what he was doing was so important.
09:53And he always included me in it.
09:55And there were times where I would go to his events and there were times where I wouldn't.
09:59But it was a family-oriented mission.
10:03So I never once was threatened by that because I was a part of it.
10:07He wrote you letters.
10:09Charlie wrote you letters.
10:11I know.
10:11Every week?
10:12Every Saturday.
10:13So he would turn his phone off to honor the Sabbath.
10:17He would come in, open the junk drawer.
10:21Everyone has a junk drawer.
10:22Open the junk drawer.
10:23Said Shabbat Shalom.
10:24Put it in there.
10:24Turn the phone off.
10:25Slam the door.
10:26And he felt so free because he was unreachable for 24, 48 hours.
10:32Did you see Charlie change in the seven years that you knew him?
10:36How did he change?
10:38When he became a father.
10:39Father, when you, and you know this, when you become a parent, it changes you.
10:44When you become a husband or a wife, it changes you.
10:47I mean, being on the altar and making a covenant with the Lord and saying, this is my person.
10:52It changes you.
10:54You become one.
10:55Everything becomes one.
10:56Nothing is separated.
10:57And it was just powerful because I got to see him grow, not just in wisdom.
11:03He read a lot of books.
11:05Wisdom.
11:06But he grew in patience.
11:09And you can see that on campus, too.
11:11You see the evolution of him going from holding the mic all the time to then putting it down,
11:18taking a sip of his tea, throwing in a throat coat, and just listening.
11:23You could see how he evolved into this incredible man who he mastered himself.
11:29He became more tranquil as he grew older.
11:32He did.
11:33And that was a huge testament to his faith because he realized more and more this is not about Charlie Kirk.
11:39Is there one thing that you know about Charlie that no one else knows that you want to share?
11:45Okay.
11:47So he would name all of my daughters and my sons stuffed animals, every single one of them.
11:54His favorite animal was the platypus.
11:58It's so random, but it's so funny because it was such a utility animal, and it's not even an animal you would think of.
12:07And I remember when I went to the San Diego Zoo with my child, my daughter, and we found the platypus shirt there.
12:15And I had her put it on, and Charlie was like, how did you find that shirt?
12:19And I was like, we just so happened to go to the zoo, and they had a platypus.
12:23He was blown away.
12:24I'm glad we didn't embarrass him too much there.
12:28We saw these clips go viral afterwards about him being a father.
12:35Let's look at some of those.
12:39That's so fun.
12:41That was a great time.
12:43Oh.
12:44So we're here at Bill's Burgers in New York City, and right near this very table was the first time Dad had met Mama, and it started as a job, and I was asking all these questions, asking all these questions, philosophy, religion, Jesus.
13:08So fun.
13:09He was so fun.
13:11What kind of relationship did he have with each child?
13:16When you ask that, I can't get this image out of my head of, you know, this feeling too, where you see your husband come home, or you as the father come home, and the kids just run to you.
13:30His relationship with them was so precious because they're so little.
13:33So it's not like you're teaching them these amazing things, but somehow he still found a way to incorporate it in little ways.
13:40But his relationship with them was so pure and precious because you see him being on stage in front of thousands of people, commanding the presence, telling them all about Western civilization, telling them all about what's going on in the world, telling them why they should care.
13:56And then you see him, and then you see him come home and just be a dad, go play with them in the pool, love on them, tickle them, play with them, like even if it was just with his stuffed animals, play with them.
14:11What do you see him?
14:12What do you see of him in the kids?
14:16It's funny because my son loves to throw balls and baseball bat and footballs.
14:24And then my sweet daughter, she's starting now to want to say little speeches, so we all are sitting there to listen.
14:33But you know what's so sweet is that my daughter's starting to want to put our son to bed at night in his crib.
14:41And so she'll, it's very meticulous of how it's done, so it's a little bit Charlie of like making sure that it's the right rhythm.
14:49And we put him in the crib, and then I say, okay, mommy's leaving.
14:54And she sits there, and I just watch her on this video of singing Jesus Loves Me to him.
15:00And that's the song that Charlie would sing to her.
15:03Never said, okay, no, you need to sing that to your brother.
15:06So I feel like it's little moments like that where I'm like, that's you, Charlie.
15:10That's you.
15:11You're there.
15:13Yeah.
15:13You're very protective of your children's privacy.
15:16Yes.
15:17As Charlie's profile grew.
15:19Were you concerned?
15:21We live in a day and age where the internet feels so entitled to everything.
15:27Why are you doing this?
15:28Why are you doing that?
15:29You know, explain this, explain that.
15:30And we live in a world where children don't even have a childhood anymore.
15:36You know, you, you, why are you posting a photo of your kids so that you can get $50 off a stroller?
15:42Like, that does not make sense to me.
15:44Crazy.
15:45If you can't afford a stroller, buy one you can't afford.
15:47Like, that makes sense to me.
15:49But to use your child or a photo of you standing in the bathroom embracing them specifically and you have 500 copies of that same pose so you can get it right for social media is bizarre to me.
16:02And it was to Charlie too.
16:04And our babies are not for anyone else's viewing other than ours and our family.
16:11And why would I want AI images of my children out there?
16:15Why would I want, and yeah, we get kidnapping threats.
16:18We always have.
16:19We get death threats.
16:21We always have.
16:21You're just smart about it.
16:25Protect what you love.
16:27Protect who you love.
16:28I want to show you a video of Charlie talking about TPUSA.
16:32Okay.
16:32Well, you're about to embark on something that is much bigger than yourself.
16:36This is about us.
16:37This is about the country.
16:40And the eyes of the whole nation are again on turning point.
16:44We're building something bigger than you, bigger than me.
16:47We're building an experience to help save the country.
16:50And if this type of intensity bothers you, well, then don't go work for Turning Point USA.
16:55You can go work for the Department of Labor or something.
16:57Okay.
16:58Because here we do excellent things.
16:59We do big things.
17:01We make history here at Turning Point USA.
17:04It's going to be early mornings.
17:05It's going to be late nights.
17:06But you all get to know that you're doing something rewarding.
17:09That is not just, oh, a career and you check the box.
17:12But lives will be changed.
17:14How blessed are we that we get to be here celebrating the country?
17:17And this is our job.
17:18It's pretty awesome.
17:24There's the one thing that I hear from speakers throughout all the years.
17:27Your team is so impressive.
17:29And they're so young.
17:30Why is it, everybody?
17:31Because for us, we hold ourselves to a higher standard.
17:34This is not just another DC gig.
17:36This is about saving Western civilization.
17:42It's the longest video I've watched of him.
17:51Just give me a second.
17:58Take your time.
17:59Charlie was on a mission to save Western civilization.
18:09Did you know that's what you signed up for?
18:11Well, no.
18:12I didn't sign up for anything.
18:13I just married the love of my life.
18:16It just so happens that that's what he was doing.
18:18Tell me about the day before the shooting.
18:20He was at the office.
18:21And we were going to meet for dinner beforehand with a dear friend of ours who I wanted to just be with us and pray with us before the event.
18:35It's no hidden secret that stuff on campus is heating up.
18:39You see people on campus coming on with guns prior to the event that happened with Charlie, the assassination with Charlie.
18:46And so I know that, you know, you and I haven't even talked about how I used to say, you know, Charlie, have you ever thought about wearing a vest?
18:55He would nod to that and be like, you know, I've looked into it.
18:59But he would always say, if they're going to get me, they're going to get me.
19:02He wasn't afraid.
19:05Wouldn't have mattered anyways if you wore a vest.
19:08Erica's mom was dealing with a medical issue, so she stayed in Phoenix to care for her.
19:13She planned to join Charlie at the next scheduled Turning Point event at Colorado State just if.
19:43A few days later.
19:45He was like, home needs you.
19:47Home needs you.
19:48Be home.
19:48Come with me on Thursday to the next event we have.
19:51And so for him that night, he was so excited.
19:56I mean, he just was like, I can't wait.
19:57It's going to be the best.
19:59And he got up around 2.45, 3ish to go into the kitchen to grab a snack.
20:03And our daughter had woke up around that same time.
20:06And we live in a small space, so you can kind of hear when everyone's kind of shuffling around.
20:10And so she came to our room, and she stayed in our bed.
20:15And he always loved when Gigi slept in our bed because she's, you know, little ones.
20:19They, like, curl up inside of you, and, like, they're just nuzzled in.
20:23But she, you also know that it can be very acrobatic when a 3-year-old is in your bed and somehow their feet end up on your face.
20:31So I said, I want you to have a good night's sleep.
20:33Go ahead and sleep in her room.
20:35And I'll turn the air down so it's nice and cozy in there.
20:37And I just want you to get a good night's sleep so you can be amazing tomorrow.
20:43And so Gigi and I stayed in our room.
20:45And that morning he woke up super early, and he came into our bedroom, into the bathroom,
20:50because that's where his wedding ring was and his necklace.
20:53And he came in, and he grabbed that, and then he left.
20:56And I didn't even get to give him a kiss goodbye.
20:58When we return.
21:00He was at peace.
21:04And I gave him a kiss.
21:06One of the hardest moments of my life was leaving him in that room.
21:14Erica Kirk, in her own words, is brought to you by Good Ranchers.
21:18American meat delivered.
21:23Charlie Kirk believed in Good Ranchers before anyone else did.
21:27Back when we were just a young family with way more hope than resources, chasing the American dream.
21:32We started Good Ranchers to make it easy for families like ours to buy 100% American-sourced meat from local farms and ranches and get it delivered straight to your door.
21:40In the early days of Good Ranchers, Charlie did so much to help us grow without asking for anything in return, simply because he believed in our mission to stand for American agriculture.
21:50Our family will never forget what Charlie did for us.
21:53He showed us what it looks like to truly believe in people.
21:56We're honored to be a part of this special night with Erica and to keep carrying forward the vision that Charlie believed in.
22:01When you order from Good Ranchers, you're not just feeding your family, you're supporting Turning Point USA and continuing Charlie's mission to invest in the next generation.
22:10Because exactly what Charlie was for us, loyal, he was also that for America.
22:14Go to GoodRanchers.com to join us in bringing America back to the dinner table.
22:19Look at that.
22:29He lived for those moments when he just walked down and was throwing the hats and students.
22:42He loved Gen Z and young people.
22:44And there's just this seat of endless crowds of people.
22:48You couldn't even see the end.
22:50He was throwing out hats and then it's just, yeah, still processing it.
22:59Sadly, we just started getting word just a couple of moments ago that Charlie Kirk has been shot.
23:14How did you find out Charlie had been shot?
23:17I was at my mom's doctor's appointment.
23:19I had my phone and I see the video coming in of him flinging out the hats.
23:23And I said, Mom, look, it started.
23:27So we saw the hats being flung.
23:30I put my phone down and it was on silent.
23:34So I had no reason to look back at it.
23:35I moved my mom.
23:37I went back to grab my phone.
23:38And that's when Mikey started calling me.
23:40Called me within seconds.
23:41I called Erica.
23:46I just remember it rang like three or four times.
23:49I didn't know what to say.
23:51Those are the words that will change someone's life forever and you have to be the one to say it.
23:55That was the first time I've ever called her during a campus tour stop.
23:59And so Mikey called me.
24:00And I'll never forget.
24:02Him just being like, Charlie's been shot.
24:05He's been shot.
24:06Get the kids.
24:07Get security.
24:08Get the kids.
24:09Get the kids.
24:09He's been shot.
24:10I sprinted out of her treatment center.
24:13Just collapsed in the middle of the parking lot.
24:16Called her security.
24:20Yeah.
24:22Unbelievable nightmare.
24:28The communications director of Turning Point USA has asked our team to give a moment of silence and prayer.
24:35And so we are going to do that right now.
24:37We're going to pause and offer our prayer.
24:39We hope you join along.
24:49However and to whomever you pray, I hope in this moment you can pray for Charlie Kirk.
24:54There was a moment there where people thought Charlie would survive.
24:58There were so many things going on at that one moment.
25:03It was so hard to actually know and hear what was going on because you're getting phone calls in and out.
25:09And hindsight, the way the way the bullet hit him, he died instantaneously.
25:21He was pronounced dead.
25:24He died on the scene.
25:26But, but I'm so glad he didn't suffer.
25:31I'm so glad he didn't suffer.
25:37Excuse me.
25:40I'm so glad he didn't suffer.
25:44No one deserves to suffer.
25:45But him of all people.
25:51So he, um, he, that's, you know, he literally blinked and probably thought he was raptured and looked around and was like, where's everybody else?
26:01He blinked and he was with the Lord.
26:03And you wanted to see Charlie immediately and came up.
26:08Take us through that.
26:12We landed in Utah, went straight to the hospital.
26:18When you walked in, everyone was just, it was a scene from just a horror movie.
26:27Everyone is so rattled to the court.
26:31Officers, law enforcement, hospital workers, our team.
26:40Everyone is just shaken.
26:43And we get into the room.
26:47One of the law enforcement guys comes in.
26:50He's very sweet, but what do you say to someone whose husband just was assassinated so publicly?
26:55He said, you know, I've been doing this for 30 some years.
26:57He said, I will never tell you that you cannot see your husband.
27:05He said, but I, in my professional opinion, think that you should wait to see him once he's at the mortuary.
27:17Because I don't think you want to see him like this.
27:20And the room got quiet because half the room knew it's probably a good idea.
27:24And the other half of the room was like, there is no way she's listening to you right now.
27:31And I responded back to him and I said, with all due respect, sir, I said, I want to see what they did to my husband.
27:42And I want to give him a kiss because I didn't get to give him a kiss this morning.
27:46And I said the same thing to the doctor.
27:51When the doctor came in, I said, I want to see my husband.
27:55He said, I'll make sure that happens.
27:58And I did.
28:00And I got to see him.
28:01And when we walked into that room, he still looks so alive.
28:14I mean, because he just, and I'm just so glad I saw him because you know this, when you see someone pass at the mortuary, they never look the same when they're at the mortuary.
28:22They have awful makeup and they're cold and he was still warm and his eyes were slightly open.
28:30But you know what was so powerful, Jesse?
28:34He had this smirk on his face.
28:38It was so sweet.
28:40He had this smirk on his face where it meant three things to me.
28:45First, that he died doing what he loved.
28:51The second was that he was at peace.
28:57And I gave him a kiss.
29:02Gave him a kiss.
29:05And then before I left the room, which was one of the hardest moments of my life, was leaving him in that room.
29:14Excuse me.
29:15I looked at him and I thought to myself, that smirk, that smirk to me, is that look of, you thought you could stop what I've built.
29:37You thought that you could end this vision, this movement, this revival.
29:44You thought you could do that by murdering me.
29:50You got my body.
29:51You didn't get my soul.
29:52Do you know how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?
29:59Too many.
30:01By that time, the video was everywhere.
30:04How do you process that?
30:07I never saw the video.
30:13I never will see it.
30:15I never want to see it.
30:17There's certain things you see in your life that you can never unsee.
30:21There's certain things you see in your life that mark your soul forever.
30:24I don't want my husband's public assassination to be something I ever see.
30:31I don't want my kids to ever see that.
30:35And for the people who actually enjoy watching that, which is quite literally sick,
30:42what if that was your father or your brother or your sister?
30:49There's a perspective shift there.
30:53We're human.
30:55Life is fragile.
30:59And there is so much beauty in this world.
31:04Why would you waste any portion of your life looking at something so evil?
31:09Charlie was answering a question about transviolence when he was murdered.
31:19Do you think that was a coincidence?
31:21I don't believe in coincidences.
31:31Do you think they've caught your husband's killer?
31:34So, something I'm so grateful for is that we have one of the most incredible teams for this case.
31:50I would never wish it upon anybody to have to go through what we are going through.
31:56To have seen the autopsy report, to have seen the different evidence portions that have been collected,
32:08I trust our team.
32:13There's other theories swirling around about Charlie's assassination.
32:18Right.
32:19How does that make you feel?
32:20When everything happened, my phone died and became a black hole.
32:26I just didn't turn it on for weeks on end.
32:29I've intentionally insulated myself
32:31because I need to guard my heart
32:35and I need to be there for my kids
32:37and I need to be there for Turning Point.
32:40And what I've realized through all of this is that
32:42everyone grieves differently.
32:44Everyone is trying to figure out,
32:46and I don't blame them,
32:48how does this happen?
32:50How does somebody become so radicalized
32:53where they can justify this in their own head?
32:56We just lost one of the greatest voices of our generation.
33:01Why?
33:02How?
33:03What's behind it?
33:04Like, everyone's trying to process this.
33:08And I respect that.
33:09But where my heart is just asking for some grace
33:15is for the ones who were there that day.
33:20They have to relive that every single day.
33:24He didn't die in a car accident.
33:26He didn't die from cancer.
33:28He was assassinated.
33:29And the difference between this and
33:33previous assassinations in this country,
33:38there was no social media.
33:40There was no AI.
33:40I can tell you how many fake images are out there
33:43of all of this.
33:47And, again, my only request is that
33:52just please pray and consider and think about
33:55whatever you put online,
33:59because it's going to impact his kids in the future.
34:02I don't want my kids to go on the Internet one day
34:05when they're older and see things that...
34:08It's just...
34:09We're all trying to process this in their own way,
34:13and I appreciate that.
34:14But just some grace would be nice.
34:18Do you feel safe?
34:20I do.
34:21What are they going to threaten me with?
34:23Going to heaven sooner to be with my husband?
34:26And I don't say that to be reckless.
34:28I do not.
34:28I do not say that because I'm out in the streets.
34:30It's like, here I am, come find me.
34:33And it's not at all...
34:33It's a fearlessness that's rooted
34:36in the understanding that
34:39I will have my day and my time,
34:43whenever that is.
34:44When the Lord knows that
34:45I've completed my mission.
34:50And I'm not afraid.
34:51Charlie wasn't afraid either.
34:52We never lived in fear.
34:53If we did, we wouldn't get anything done.
34:55And I can't help run alongside
34:59this mission of Turning Point USA
35:01and raise my babies with fear.
35:03I can't.
35:04That's not a life to live.
35:05For anybody.
35:08What's the hardest part of your day?
35:11The night.
35:13Nighttime.
35:14Always.
35:17I'll tell them about my day.
35:18I talk to them all the time.
35:19But the nights are the hardest.
35:23Being in a bed by yourself.
35:26Rolling over.
35:27Trying to...
35:29Good night kiss.
35:30That's not there.
35:35You know.
35:37And anyone who's a widow
35:38knows what that means.
35:40How painful that is.
35:45Excuse me.
35:45It's so easy to take
35:47the little things for granted.
35:49But you know what's so interesting?
35:50I was thinking about this
35:51the other day.
35:53It's so easy
35:54to be in a position
35:58of feeling regret
35:59when you lose someone you love.
36:05And I tried to read
36:06a book by C.S. Lewis
36:08because he lost
36:09the love of his life.
36:10He was only married to her
36:11for four years.
36:13It's called
36:14The Grief Observed.
36:17It was a very hard book
36:19to read.
36:20Not because
36:21it was about grief.
36:23But because
36:24in the opening pages
36:25he talked about
36:25how angry he was
36:26with God.
36:28And I've never felt that.
36:31I'm not angry with God.
36:35Never have been.
36:37Never have I questioned
36:39why Lord are you
36:41putting me through this?
36:42Why are you testing me?
36:43Why are you?
36:46Because God is so good
36:47and he's so sovereign.
36:49And I know he uses
36:50everything.
36:52Everything.
36:53Even what the enemy
36:54meant for evil.
36:57And
36:58I have no regrets
37:01and I think that
37:02that's why
37:02processing this
37:04for me
37:06is probably different
37:08than most.
37:09Because people say
37:10how can you do
37:11along with you
37:11that you do.
37:14And it's because
37:14I loved
37:15and still love Charlie.
37:17Did you watch the news
37:18after the assassination?
37:20Because there were
37:21some people
37:22saying that
37:23Charlie deserved to die.
37:25Charlie had it coming.
37:27There's so much beauty
37:28in life.
37:30I don't know
37:31why you would waste
37:32your time
37:34saying somebody
37:35deserves to be
37:35publicly executed
37:36in front of everyone.
37:40That's just
37:41why would you say that?
37:45Again,
37:46that could have been
37:46your parent,
37:47your spouse,
37:48your loved one.
37:50You think it's funny
37:52until it's
37:54someone you love?
37:57I would just
37:58ask them to
37:58really
37:59reassess
38:02their priorities
38:04in life
38:04if they
38:05get a high
38:07off of watching
38:07someone be murdered.
38:10Jimmy Kimmel
38:11lied about
38:12your husband's murder
38:13and didn't
38:14really apologize.
38:16What would you
38:17say to Jimmy Kimmel?
38:18Same thing I told
38:20Sinclair.
38:21They asked.
38:22I haven't really
38:23told anybody this.
38:24They asked,
38:25do you want
38:26Jimmy to give you
38:26an apology?
38:27Do you want to be
38:28on a show?
38:29How can we make it right?
38:32Through our team,
38:33I responded.
38:34I said,
38:35tell them thank you.
38:35We received
38:36their note.
38:39This is not our issue.
38:42Not our mess.
38:43We are grieving
38:44and we have an
38:45organization to run.
38:47My husband
38:47never told people
38:50what to say.
38:52You do what you
38:53think is best
38:54and right
38:54and I prayerfully
38:56wish you the best
38:57but I will never
38:58ask someone
38:59to give me
39:00an apology
39:01that they don't
39:02genuinely mean.
39:05That's between
39:05you and the Lord.
39:07If you want to say
39:08I'm sorry to someone
39:08who's grieving,
39:09go right ahead.
39:11But if that's not
39:12in your heart,
39:12don't do it.
39:14I don't want it.
39:15I don't need it.
39:16Where are we going now?
39:21He acquired
39:22and purchased
39:22all these buildings.
39:23This is the final building.
39:26Oh my goodness.
39:27I know.
39:29Everyone's sending
39:30all of this here.
39:32They received
39:34tens of thousands
39:36of letters,
39:37cards,
39:38gifts,
39:39personal Bibles,
39:40paintings,
39:41and more.
39:42A lot of this
39:43is from
39:44when people
39:45came to the campus,
39:46the Turning Point
39:47USA offices
39:48and left it
39:48outside the gates.
39:50Also a lot
39:51has been mailed.
39:53I mean it's just
39:53unbelievably humbling
39:55but this is all
39:57mail.
39:59I told them
39:59not to throw
39:59anything away.
40:00I want every single
40:02card saved
40:03for my kids
40:04and
40:06for when
40:07if the day gets hard
40:08at your desk
40:10you come in
40:11in this mail room
40:12and I want you
40:13to come in
40:13and I want you
40:14to pick up
40:15any of these cards
40:16and I want you
40:16to read it
40:17so you can put
40:18into perspective
40:19why you work here.
40:19this is my
40:23children's favorite
40:24section.
40:25This is the section
40:26that I tell them
40:27that in heaven
40:29daddy has
40:30he's orchestrating
40:31with his friends
40:32to send them
40:33little presents
40:34so that they
40:35never forget
40:36that daddy's
40:36watching over them
40:37so whenever
40:39I bring the kids
40:40here at the office
40:41I always let them
40:41grab one thing
40:42to play with
40:44but I mean
40:45it's really sweet.
40:48So you remember
40:49I told you
40:50that daddy
40:50was working
40:51with his friends
40:52from heaven
40:53to send you
40:53presents every day
40:55so you always
40:55know you're loved?
40:57See?
40:58This is Sesame Street.
41:00It is.
41:00I love Sesame Street.
41:01I know
41:02it's Sesame Street
41:03but all these
41:04are for you baby.
41:05These are from
41:06daddy's friends.
41:08I want to read
41:08this to me.
41:09I'll read it to you.
41:10You told your children
41:12that Charlie was
41:13going on a work trip
41:13with Jesus.
41:15Are they still asking
41:17where's daddy?
41:18Yes.
41:19My daughter continues
41:20to ask.
41:20I told her the other day
41:21because she said
41:22I just miss daddy
41:23and where's daddy
41:24when is he coming home
41:25and I said
41:25baby daddy's still
41:26with Jesus
41:27and I said
41:29they are so busy
41:31and I said
41:33if ever you want
41:34to talk to daddy
41:35you just look up
41:36to the sky
41:36and start talking to him
41:37he can hear you.
41:40It's always going to be Robert.
41:44And I told her
41:46I said
41:47you know
41:49daddy
41:50daddy is in heaven.
41:53She goes
41:54so does that mean
41:56he's in a different house?
41:58And I said
41:59yes baby
41:59he is building
42:00a house for us.
42:02Some people would say
42:03a mansion.
42:04She goes
42:05do you think
42:06I could go sometime?
42:10excuse me
42:16the children
42:20are so precious
42:22and I said
42:23baby
42:23we will all go
42:25one day
42:26we will all go
42:28one day
42:29it makes me speechless
42:32because it's
42:33for the kids
42:33and that's how
42:34I can keep
42:35telling the kids
42:36you know
42:36daddy's thinking
42:38about you
42:38and loves you
42:39and all these people
42:41I mean it's
42:46it's endless
42:47which is amazing
42:48yes baby
42:50the alleged assassin
42:55Tyler Robinson
42:55is eligible
42:56for the death penalty
42:57if he is found
42:59guilty
42:59when this trial
43:01comes
43:02and what a trial
43:03this will be
43:04it's still
43:05not over
43:06there's a trial
43:08coming up
43:08the defense
43:09wants to ban
43:10cameras
43:11in the courtroom
43:12how do you feel
43:13about that?
43:16there were cameras
43:17all over my husband
43:18when he was murdered
43:19there have been cameras
43:22all over my friends
43:23and family
43:24mourning
43:24there have been cameras
43:27all over me
43:28analyzing my every move
43:30analyzing my every smile
43:32my every tear
43:34we deserve to have
43:38cameras in there
43:39why not be transparent
43:42there's nothing to hide
43:45I know there's not
43:46because I've seen
43:47what the case is built on
43:48let everyone see
43:51what true evil is
43:53let everyone see
43:54and know
43:55how it happened
43:56how
43:58it even got to this point
44:01this is something
44:04that could impact
44:05a generation
44:05and generations
44:06to come
44:07of
44:08understanding
44:10there is never
44:11a justifiable moment
44:12for violence
44:13especially political violence
44:15and that's
44:17another reason
44:17why too
44:18I've been so open
44:20about
44:21certain private moments
44:22within our family
44:23there's nothing to hide
44:25let the world see
44:27let them see
44:28on the cross
44:36our savior said
44:37father forgive them
44:44for they not know
44:46what they do
44:47that man
44:50that young man
44:54I forgive him
44:59I forgive him
44:59I forgive him
45:00I forgive him
45:01I forgive him
45:03I forgive him
45:05I forgive him
45:14You shocked a lot of people
45:16when you forgave
45:17Tyler Robinson
45:19how did you do that?
45:21I remember
45:22going over the speech
45:24the night before
45:25and there was a portion
45:27in there
45:28that I remember putting
45:29about how Charlie
45:31was trying to save
45:31the Lost Boys of the West
45:33he was trying to save
45:35the exact
45:37type of individual
45:39who murdered him
45:39and
45:42when I re-read that
45:44the night before
45:45I thought it just was
45:48weighing on my heart
45:49forgive him
45:53a lot of people
45:56in this world
45:56think that forgiveness
45:57is a weakness
45:58or that when you
46:00forgive you forget
46:01and it's the exact
46:03opposite
46:03it's a form of freedom
46:05the enemy
46:07the enemy
46:09stole my husband
46:11and if I didn't
46:14forgive
46:15it's more so for me
46:18than this man
46:18because the enemy
46:21would have my heart
46:22and I knew
46:24that
46:24every day
46:26the Lord forgives me
46:27for things
46:28so he forgives
46:29everybody else
46:30for things
46:31small, big
46:31and what an example
46:35of
46:35forgiveness
46:37and it's not easy
46:39it's not easy
46:40it never is easy
46:41but
46:41it's freeing
46:44it's so freeing
46:46and
46:47again
46:49it's not a weakness
46:50but it's a way
46:52for me
46:53to be able
46:53to say
46:54you'll never
46:55get me
46:56you'll never
