00:00Please welcome your host, Jeanette Monrara.
00:30Oh, yes. Hello and welcome to your midweek, It Takes Two.
00:34We are live on BBC Two and iPlayer.
00:37And what a Wednesday banger we've got lined up for you this bonfire night
00:41with three fantastic couples who, between them,
00:44help themselves to six tens on Saturday.
00:49Hello.
00:50And in just a moment, I'll be catching up with Kaz and Carlos.
00:53But first, let's see who else is on the show.
00:57They were petrifyingly perfect at the weekend.
01:00Lewis and Katia made strictly history with a dance that played all the right keys.
01:05But will the cha-cha-cha strike the same chord with the judges?
01:09There were no tens for Vicky and Kai,
01:11but our show openers produced one of their best performances in this series
01:15that left Motsi calling them contenders for the final.
01:19But how will they contend with the tango this week?
01:22And eat your heart out, Tom Jones.
01:25Our very own Welsh wonder Amy Dowden will be guiding us through
01:29some of her personal favorite strictly moments in the best of the ballroom.
01:34But first, at the weekend, we may have lost Team Cheeky,
01:38but instead we gained Team Peaky.
01:40And by the order of the judges, they received the first tens of the series
01:45with a stunning Argentine tango.
01:47Let's take a look.
01:48You absolutely smashed the choreography for me, I have to say.
01:55Just great.
01:57I would have liked to have seen a smoother passing of your feet.
02:01But darling, that was clean.
02:03It was confident.
02:05Tonight you've gone.
02:06I'm back, everybody.
02:07I just want you to know I'm better than ever.
02:10This was extraordinarily good.
02:14I loved it.
02:20It's Karen and Carlos.
02:23You got your first tens of the series.
02:29Now, Kaz, how does it feel to get your first two perfect marks?
02:33I still can't believe it, if I'm honest.
02:35I think you could see my jaw just dropping as the first one came out
02:39and I just could not believe it.
02:41But it was unreal.
02:42So, yeah, I was so thrilled.
02:44We were both thrilled.
02:45Yeah, and as a proud Brummie,
02:48was this the perfect way for you to celebrate England's second city?
02:51Yeah, I mean, to be able to do my favourite show
02:55and obviously it's set in Birmingham and I'm from Birmingham,
02:58that meant a lot to me.
03:00And I went in on Monday going, I'm not going to let them down.
03:03And I was focused and I said to you,
03:05I'm going to, we are doing this.
03:06You should have seen her in the training room from first hour
03:09of Monday.
03:10She was completely in.
03:11Definitely, you didn't let the Brummies down, did she?
03:13No.
03:14And Carlos, you spoke about this dance being gender neutral.
03:17Yeah.
03:17So, what have you seen in Kaz that has given you this trust
03:20to let her take the lead?
03:22Well, you know, I always see,
03:23there's a superpower inside of her.
03:25I always see from day one I met her
03:27and in this dance, I was like,
03:29it's perfect time for her to try something different
03:32but also challenging.
03:34Yeah.
03:34And she absolutely nailed it.
03:36She wasn't letting me down.
03:37She didn't let you down
03:38and she didn't let the Brummies down,
03:40she didn't let us down.
03:41You were amazing.
03:42Last week though,
03:43you said the Argentine tango
03:44was like having your head in the dishwasher.
03:47So, how,
03:48now that you've had a connection with it,
03:49how do you feel about it now?
03:51Well, we've moved on to the Charleston,
03:54so now I'm in a washing machine.
03:55Oh, it's a washing machine.
03:56This week, it's a washing machine.
03:57But going back to last week,
03:59honestly, it was,
04:00I loved every second of that dance.
04:02It's been my favourite dance so far
04:05that we've been lucky and blessed to be able to do
04:07and I fell in love with it
04:09and the character and the hat
04:10and the Birmingham,
04:12that for me,
04:13it was unbelievable.
04:14Oh.
04:15And Carlos,
04:16how helpful is this momentum
04:18now going into the rest of the series
04:19because tens.
04:21Can you believe it?
04:22Can you believe it?
04:22I can't even believe it.
04:23I mean,
04:24it definitely boosts your confidence,
04:27for sure.
04:27Yeah, it does.
04:28We have a tendency in our pockets,
04:29you know,
04:30and also challenges you,
04:32you know,
04:32you can't really,
04:33you have to play even better.
04:35Now you don't want to drop the ball.
04:36For sure,
04:37100%.
04:37You want to perform.
04:38No pun intended there,
04:39footballer.
04:39Good one.
04:40No, no, exactly.
04:41So, you just have to hire your games
04:43every single day,
04:44every single week.
04:45But that's what we're going to do.
04:47Yeah.
04:47We're not going to let ourselves down,
04:48not to let those people
04:49who voted us down,
04:50you know,
04:51we're going to just keep it up
04:52and do the best.
04:53Exactly.
04:53And have a great time.
04:54And Katz,
04:54we just said,
04:55you don't want to drop the ball.
04:56Speaking of the ball,
04:56you said in Claudia's area
04:58that on Saturday night,
04:59it's starting to feel like
05:00one of your football matches.
05:01Yeah.
05:02When you win or lose,
05:03is that the same kind of feeling
05:04you're getting when it goes well
05:05or it doesn't
05:06on the Saturday night?
05:07The only thing I can say
05:08is that the celebration
05:09after Saturday
05:10when the dance was over
05:12was as if I'd scored a goal.
05:14Yes!
05:14Yes!
05:15Come on!
05:15I was like,
05:16come on, man!
05:16And then I was just like,
05:18this,
05:18the euphoria,
05:19the crowd,
05:20the atmosphere
05:21and the joy
05:22that you'd executed it
05:24was just as good
05:26as scoring a goal for me.
05:27It was amazing.
05:28Oh, I love that!
05:29Isn't that amazing?
05:31Well,
05:32moving on to this week,
05:34you mentioned it briefly there,
05:35you're in a washing machine.
05:36Oh, yeah.
05:36You're dancing the Charleston
05:37to a combination of this.
05:39Upside down.
05:41That is Upside Down,
05:43Diana Ross.
05:44And this.
05:48That's Think Aretha Franklin.
05:50Now, Upside Down,
05:52Think,
05:54how much do those titles
05:55have to do with the dance
05:56you're doing now?
05:57Well, Upside Down,
05:58that's The Washing Machine.
05:59Right.
06:00So there's a hint there.
06:00But honestly,
06:02as soon as you played it
06:03and when we've been doing it,
06:05the music comes on
06:06and we just light off.
06:07It's so,
06:08the music is fantastic.
06:10And it's a happy place,
06:12isn't it?
06:13And we've really,
06:13really enjoyed it.
06:14This is from today.
06:15Look at the two of you.
06:15You are really happy there.
06:17Carlos,
06:17thank you for blessing us
06:18with shorts once again
06:19in your rehearsal videos.
06:21I'm trying.
06:23But you look really good.
06:24I always felt like
06:25this was really going to suit Kaz.
06:26I really, really did.
06:28Carlos,
06:29the Charleston has been
06:30very good to you on Strictly
06:31because you've done two in the past
06:34and both of them have been
06:3535 and 38.
06:37I know.
06:38Wow, thank you very much.
06:39I've been blessed.
06:40What is it about the dance
06:42and what is it about the Charleston
06:43that you think
06:43always gets such good marks for you?
06:44Maybe I wasn't right.
06:45I told you Charleston's
06:46my favorite dance so far
06:47on Strictly I've ever done.
06:48Well,
06:49it's in the numbers.
06:50It's in the numbers.
06:50I know,
06:51somehow it just sits in.
06:52He likes it though.
06:52It's so right
06:53and the vibe,
06:54it's so joyful.
06:55It's once the music plays,
06:57it brings,
06:57you forgot about everything
06:59and anything happens in life.
07:00It's just really drawing it in
07:02and dancing
07:02and enjoying.
07:03It's really ironic
07:04when you're dancing to think.
07:06Exactly.
07:08But it is such great music
07:09and that kind of gets you going,
07:10right?
07:10The upbeatness in there.
07:11I'm living the best love.
07:12At least I think in this dance,
07:14we're living the best life.
07:15He did say that.
07:16Yeah.
07:17Guys,
07:17I feel like that momentum
07:18is going to stay
07:19by the sounds of it.
07:20It's crossed.
07:21Yeah.
07:22Hopefully.
07:22Hopefully.
07:22And Carlos,
07:23how much do you think
07:24Kaz's athletic stamina
07:26is going to help this dance?
07:28Because Charleston,
07:28you do not stop.
07:30It's fast.
07:31It's bouncy.
07:31It's lips.
07:32Exactly.
07:32We do not starve
07:34in this dance.
07:35But I think
07:35in the one of the run
07:36we did previously,
07:38actually,
07:38she was better than me.
07:39I was smashed.
07:40The stamina survived
07:41better than Carlos.
07:42She was.
07:43And she has a better mentality.
07:45She can...
07:45Because I think
07:46once I'm go,
07:47I'm go.
07:47But she actually
07:48really consistency
07:49her energy
07:50throughout the whole dance.
07:51Right.
07:52She actually
07:52should play smarter than me.
07:53Right.
07:54I'm like,
07:54let me start,
07:54I'm go.
07:55So this week
07:55you're swapping roles.
07:56You're the professional
07:57and Carlos is the celebrity dancer.
07:59There was one bit today
08:01where you were on the floor
08:02and I just danced around him.
08:04And I was just like...
08:05She did not stop.
08:06I was like,
08:07oh, I'm done.
08:08Yeah, it literally...
08:08So what we've taken
08:09from this conversation
08:10is that Carlos,
08:11you need to work
08:11on your stamina, baby.
08:12Good luck this weekend.
08:13Let's hear it
08:14for Karen and Carlos.
08:18Right.
08:19Not only does today
08:20mark the halfway stage
08:21of the week,
08:22it also marks
08:23the halfway stage
08:24of this year's competition.
08:25So let's head off
08:27to the training room
08:27to see how Alex,
08:29Harry,
08:29Lavoie,
08:30Amber and George
08:31are preparing
08:32for another
08:32Strictly Saturday.
08:35I know nothing
08:36about Pase Doble.
08:38The steps
08:39are so complicated.
08:40One of the steps
08:43that Alex
08:44absolutely loves
08:45is a Rondé.
08:46Forward,
08:47side,
08:48cross.
08:48No, no, no, no, no.
08:49But we have been
08:50struggling with it.
08:51Forward, face out.
08:53Exactly.
08:54I think I look
08:55like a baby giraffe
08:57that's just been born.
09:03The Samba
09:04is a bit of me.
09:05Although there's
09:06a lot of rhythm,
09:07I've got to be careful
09:08because there's
09:08a lot of technique
09:09as well.
09:10The hip rotation
09:11is something else.
09:13Rotation, rotation, rotation.
09:14You've got to place
09:14your foot down first
09:15and then the hip's
09:16got to follow.
09:16And hip back.
09:17See, Harry has
09:18really broad shoulders
09:19so he has to make sure
09:20that he over rotates.
09:22Seven, eight.
09:23Finally, a dance.
09:24I can give all my energy
09:25too.
09:26Yes.
09:27As long as I follow
09:28the rules.
09:28Do it again.
09:29What did I do?
09:31The hardest thing
09:32about Foxtrot
09:33is doing three steps
09:34and four beats.
09:35Quick, quick, slow, slow.
09:36Quick, quick, quick,
09:37your toes doing it.
09:38So six, seven, quick.
09:39I have no idea
09:40what he's talking about.
09:41It's called reverse wave
09:42and it's my favourite
09:44step in Foxtrot.
09:45Reverse wave
09:46has the same entry
09:47as it has the exit.
09:48Closing feet.
09:49Why is it your favourite?
09:51Because it's walking
09:51backwards.
09:52Oh.
09:53This needs to be
09:54mistake proof
09:55on a Saturday.
09:56Don't go wrong.
09:56Oh, look at his face.
09:58I'm giving myself
10:02the ick
10:03trying to do the salsa.
10:05Forget what you think
10:06it is supposed to be.
10:08Just live it.
10:09The most important thing
10:10to get right
10:11is the vibe,
10:12is the energy.
10:14Be wild.
10:15I like to be told
10:16your foot goes here,
10:17your arm goes there.
10:19Two, three.
10:20I think she's just
10:21overthinking it
10:22quite a lot.
10:23Yeah.
10:23I need to let go.
10:25Just go for it.
10:26That's my motto
10:27for this week.
10:27Go for it.
10:29Before the process
10:30I thought a Viennese
10:31waltz was a dessert
10:31but I know now
10:33it's a ballroom dance
10:34with lots of spins.
10:37Golly.
10:39I didn't need
10:40my toes anyway.
10:41We have to step
10:41in accordance
10:42to each other,
10:43try to get the rotation
10:44and it has to look
10:46like butter.
10:47That'll be the challenge.
10:48I won't get
10:49into the fleck wheel now.
10:50We'll wait
10:50until after lunch.
10:51Yeah.
10:51I always say
10:53boys fleckle
10:55after lunch.
10:59Next up,
11:00on Saturday
11:01Vicky and Kai
11:02told the story
11:03of a lonely witch
11:04who's visited
11:05by an old
11:06Victorian gentleman.
11:08For her role
11:09Vicky spent the week
11:10meticulously studying
11:12to get into character,
11:13understanding the story
11:15of the witch
11:15and then spent hours
11:17in her makeup
11:18to get the right look.
11:20For Kai's role,
11:21well,
11:21he just wore
11:22his usual
11:22Saturday night attire
11:23and acted like himself
11:25and it worked.
11:26Here's a reminder
11:26of that.
11:27American Smooth.
11:30There were so many things
11:32that you've made better
11:33in this ballroom dance
11:35than you did
11:36in week two
11:36which was really lovely.
11:38I thought it was
11:38a huge improvement.
11:41I like a nicer shape
11:42when you're up
11:43in the lift
11:43in flight.
11:44But you know,
11:45you're becoming
11:46loads more confident
11:47and it's just
11:48so wonderful to see.
11:50I love the character
11:52play in the beginning.
11:53For me,
11:53you are a contender
11:55for the final.
11:55Oh!
12:01It's Vicky and Kai,
12:02everybody.
12:04Opening the show
12:05for the first time,
12:07not easy.
12:08Have the nerves
12:09unlocked a new level now?
12:11No.
12:11No.
12:14Um,
12:14I,
12:15I hate,
12:16oh gosh,
12:17it sounds so horrible
12:18to say this
12:18but I hated opening the show.
12:19You hated it?
12:20Yeah, I hated it
12:21and I hate saying that
12:22because it sounds...
12:22Why?
12:23What was it?
12:23Babe, it's so scary
12:24and like,
12:25you don't really get
12:26much of a chance
12:26to like warm up
12:27or like,
12:28get in the mood.
12:29You're just like,
12:31done for it.
12:32And I was really scared.
12:34Yeah.
12:34Probably quite understandably so.
12:36I'm not in a rush
12:37to do it again.
12:38Will I have to do it again?
12:39No, you didn't.
12:40That's the thing.
12:41That's the beauty
12:41of what happens.
12:42You do it once
12:43and you didn't have
12:43to do it again.
12:44We're gonna get to it
12:45but Kai,
12:45you didn't make it easy
12:46for her
12:46because not only
12:47opening the show,
12:48opened the dance
12:48on her own as well.
12:50You keep doing this
12:51to me, didn't it?
12:52Yeah, why?
12:53How important is it
12:54for Vicky?
12:54I don't know.
12:55I feel like I'm getting
12:56a bad rep for this.
12:57I'm just like,
12:57right,
12:58you're still on your own
12:58and sometimes
12:59don't even look at me.
13:01But the judges
13:01did say they liked her
13:02on her own
13:02so maybe there's
13:03an element of that
13:04in there subconsciously.
13:05I think so.
13:06I trust Vicky.
13:06I trust Vicky.
13:07I think she's starting
13:08on her own.
13:09The whole thing
13:09was me coming
13:09through a big
13:10gothic gate
13:11and coming in
13:11and whatever.
13:12So I was like,
13:13you're just gonna be there.
13:14You're just gonna wait
13:14for me to come.
13:15I'm gonna...
13:15I wanted a moment
13:16for myself today.
13:17Is that what happened?
13:18It was a selfish decision.
13:21Left you on your own
13:21panicking.
13:22But getting to open
13:23the show also means
13:24that you do get
13:24to watch everybody else.
13:26So what was it like
13:27to kind of get it
13:28out of the way,
13:28get it done
13:29and then spend
13:29the rest of the night
13:30just being a spectator?
13:31How nice.
13:31I did love that bit,
13:32and I'm not gonna lie,
13:33if I had me PJs
13:36and me snacks,
13:37it would have just been
13:38like a normal year for me.
13:39I was just like
13:40sitting, clapping
13:41for all me friends,
13:42having a lovely time.
13:45I was like,
13:45I love all was great
13:46there, weren't you?
13:47So I did love
13:49that element.
13:50Yes.
13:50But honestly,
13:52I wouldn't want
13:53to go first.
13:54But it's kind of
13:54throwing yourself
13:55in the deep end.
13:55You get it done quick,
13:56pull the bandaid off,
13:57you're on,
13:58you're down,
13:58it out, right?
13:59That's what he said.
13:59He was like,
14:00listen, you get it done fast,
14:01you can get it out the way.
14:02And I was like,
14:02OK,
14:03trying to believe him.
14:04And I'm still not convinced.
14:05And you did so well.
14:07You honestly did so well.
14:08It was the first time
14:09that your scores
14:09didn't go up, though.
14:10I know.
14:11But you did get
14:11your second highest score
14:12of the series,
14:13so that's quite good.
14:14Yes, we did.
14:15How much confidence
14:16does it give you
14:17knowing that you're now
14:17getting eights consistently
14:19from the judges
14:20when you dance?
14:21Honestly,
14:21I feel like
14:22so grateful.
14:24And like,
14:24it's a proper testament
14:25to how hard Kai's
14:26been working with us,
14:27I think,
14:28when you consider
14:28where I started.
14:30Do you know what?
14:31I still just can't
14:32quite believe it.
14:33I don't take that
14:34much notice of the scores,
14:35to be honest.
14:36No.
14:36I know I should.
14:37I know I should be
14:37more invested.
14:38I'm always just so pleased
14:39that it goes OK.
14:41Yeah.
14:41I think, oh, God.
14:42You can leave that to Kai.
14:43Yeah.
14:43You can leave that to Kai.
14:44I'm no Carol Vorderman,
14:45the numbers.
14:46Do not concern me.
14:49But Kai,
14:49you praised Vicky's
14:50storytelling in the dance.
14:52As a professional,
14:53when you get the themed weeks,
14:54the characterisation helps,
14:56doesn't it?
14:56It's best in those weeks.
14:57It really does, yeah.
14:58And it was,
14:58like I said last week,
14:59it was our first chance
15:00to kind of really delve
15:01into that storytelling element
15:03of it.
15:03And I think Vic did a great job.
15:05Because you hadn't done that before.
15:06Remember, we talked about it.
15:07No, we did.
15:08And she did a really good job
15:10at storytelling.
15:11And we're telling the same
15:12sort of thing this week
15:13in terms of we're trying hard
15:15on the storytelling bit
15:16because I think Vic is
15:17really good at it.
15:18Well, I'm so glad
15:18you brought it up
15:19because you are through, baby.
15:21Yeah.
15:22And on Saturday,
15:23you're going to be dancing
15:24a tango to this.
15:28I mean,
15:29the fate of Ophelia,
15:32Taylor Swift.
15:33Are you joking?
15:34But we'll talk about
15:36the song in a second.
15:36How much of a minx
15:38is the tango, though?
15:39Oh, she is.
15:40She's a little minx, isn't she?
15:41She's a spicy one.
15:42She's a spicy little thing.
15:43She knows what she's doing,
15:45that tango.
15:45And now this is you yesterday.
15:47Yeah.
15:47Look at you, though.
15:49Come on.
15:50Surely you're happy with that.
15:51You think?
15:52Yeah.
15:52Jeanette, I always love
15:53I don't want to overstep Kai.
15:54Kai, this is good, right?
15:55But you know what?
15:56I said this last week
15:56and I got myself
15:57into a bit of bother.
15:58I went,
15:58I went, she looks great,
15:59but she's even better now.
16:03You got in trouble
16:03for that once.
16:04Well, I was like,
16:05I sound so bad,
16:06but the same story
16:07is even better now.
16:09You're going to be
16:10in for such a treat
16:11on Saturday.
16:11But in your defense,
16:12it should be getting better, right?
16:13Absolutely.
16:13As the day's gone.
16:14So that's a good sign.
16:15It is.
16:16Madonna, Cheryl,
16:18Bonnie Tyler,
16:19now Taylor Swift.
16:20Oh.
16:21It's like the bingo card
16:22of strong female artists
16:23for you.
16:24We are getting
16:24spilt-bottom with the songs.
16:26How much of a Swifty fan
16:27are you?
16:27You're a big Swifty.
16:28Babes,
16:29if you thought
16:29I was bad for Cheryl,
16:30wait,
16:31you see how I behave
16:32about Taylor.
16:32Really?
16:33I go full creep.
16:34I think I'm a full creep.
16:36Well, you're going to get
16:36really creepy about this
16:37because two Swifties
16:39have...
16:40I did not get a message
16:42from Taylor.
16:42I'm so sorry.
16:43But we did make you
16:45beautiful bracelets.
16:48Okay?
16:48So,
16:49friendship bracelets
16:50is a little gift from us
16:51for the two Swifty fans
16:53over here.
16:53You're so sweet.
16:53There you go.
16:54I love you.
16:55I love you.
16:55I'll work on Taylor,
16:56though.
16:57I'll make sure
16:57we'll try and make that happen.
16:58So it's a bit big ass.
16:59Yes.
16:59But how are you feeling now?
17:01You're not far off.
17:01It's midweek.
17:02How are you feeling
17:03about the dance
17:04and the tango?
17:04I feel good.
17:05I feel that Vicky's
17:06in a really good place
17:07with it.
17:07I think because of our
17:08ballroom dance...
17:09You're wearing it.
17:09Yeah, I've got to wear it.
17:10You're wearing your thing.
17:11I feel because we've had
17:12a couple of ballroom dances
17:13before that we've had
17:14stuff to build on
17:15and, you know,
17:16tango is an interesting
17:18one because there's
17:18no rise and fall.
17:19It's quite sharp.
17:21But I think this might
17:22be her best ballroom dance
17:23that we've done yet.
17:24It might be the best
17:24ballroom dance for you.
17:25He says these big things.
17:27Trust the process, babe.
17:28Trust the process.
17:30Good luck at the weekend.
17:31Let's hear it for Vicky and Kai.
17:36Next up tonight,
17:37we're taking a trip
17:38down memory lane
17:39with the one and only
17:40Amy Dowden
17:41as she talks us
17:42through her favorite
17:43Strictly memories
17:43in the best of the ballroom.
17:48Right, ready?
17:54I joined Strictly in 2017
17:57as the first ever
17:59Welsh professional dancer.
18:03My first partner
18:05was Brian Conley
18:06or as I said,
18:07Pry.
18:08This is who I wanted.
18:10Is it really?
18:11What's your name?
18:13I think for us both,
18:14movie week
18:15is our favorite week.
18:17I could walk away
18:18I'm from the competitive world
18:20where I'm Amy
18:21on that dance floor
18:22so being able to embrace
18:23characters
18:24and explore that avenue
18:26of choreography
18:27and everything
18:27was really, really fun.
18:30For me,
18:30it was a new challenge
18:31and I loved it.
18:36Brian and I
18:37are still really close
18:38to this day.
18:39He emceeds
18:40at mine and Ben's wedding.
18:41He's like my TV dad.
18:45Reaching Blackpool
18:46for the first time
18:47has got to be
18:48one of my Strictly
18:49favorite moments.
18:51For dancers
18:52all around the world,
18:53everyone's ambition
18:55is to get to Blackpool.
18:57It was something
18:58I really, really want
18:59to achieve
19:00and experience
19:01with a celebrity partner
19:02and to get there
19:03with Karim.
19:04It was amazing
19:05and something
19:05I'm so proud of.
19:09Personally,
19:10I think Karim
19:10deserved a 40.
19:12It's just great.
19:14Nice!
19:14He just doesn't like
19:16his 10 paddle.
19:19I think as a pro,
19:20you know,
19:20you always have
19:21those ambitions.
19:23You really want
19:23to achieve
19:24that perfect score.
19:25You want it 40.
19:27I really knew
19:28Karim was capable
19:30so it got to the point
19:31and especially
19:31with the job
19:32where I just thought,
19:33well,
19:33I'm putting it all in.
19:35From him doing
19:36the jump box splits,
19:38as many spins
19:39as possible,
19:40there was just
19:41no holding back.
19:42The reaction
19:49in the ballroom
19:50was just
19:52immense.
19:53I've never heard
19:54anything like it.
19:55I don't think
19:56I ever have.
19:57Mochi was going
19:58to come to Mama,
19:59come to Mama,
20:00give him a 10 paddle.
20:02Thank you!
20:03Get out of there!
20:05Thank you!
20:06Thank you, Sean!
20:07In that moment,
20:08I was just like,
20:09I really, really hope
20:11we've done enough.
20:12I really, really do.
20:14Creed Breville Hall!
20:17Get out!
20:18Get out!
20:19Go ahead!
20:20Shen!
20:21What do you think?
20:23Go ahead!
20:23Go ahead!
20:24Go ahead!
20:25Go ahead!
20:25Go ahead!
20:27I think that 40,
20:29it'd be very hard
20:30to ever top that.
20:32I love watching
20:34my partners
20:35grow in confidence
20:36as dancers
20:37and fall in love
20:38with Strictly.
20:41With Tom Fletcher,
20:42I'll never forget
20:43the Paso Doble.
20:45It was a dance
20:46he was quite nervous of.
20:47He said,
20:48oh, I'm not masculine,
20:49I'm not strong.
20:49How am I going to do
20:50the Paso Doble?
20:51And do you know what?
20:53Tom danced it perfectly.
20:55And I love that I could
20:58put so many typical
21:01Paso Doble,
21:02Matador,
21:04Flamenco elements in there.
21:09CHEERING
21:09I think he then started
21:12to believe in himself
21:13and he knew he could do it.
21:17Strictly and my partnership
21:18with Tom ultimately
21:19saved my life.
21:22Tom and Giovanna
21:23work very closely
21:24with breast cancer charities
21:26and that is what led to me
21:29finding my tumour
21:31and was diagnosed
21:32with cancer.
21:34So without Tom,
21:35I wouldn't be here now.
21:39I finished my treatment
21:40in the November.
21:42Strictly being amazing,
21:44still found a way
21:45of me being part
21:46of the show.
21:49I think actually,
21:50me being able to perform
21:51in that number,
21:52give me the hope
21:53and that I'm going
21:54to be back next year
21:55and it was what I needed.
21:57It just was everything.
22:02In the following year,
22:04I was back
22:05and I was back
22:06full force.
22:09It was like a strong,
22:11powerful,
22:12sexy, determined Amy
22:14and I was dressed in hot pink
22:16to represent breast cancer.
22:19All my family
22:20were in the audience.
22:21I remember my parents
22:22crying their eyes
22:23out.
22:23It was the first time
22:24they'd watched me
22:25since everything.
22:27Amy's back
22:28where she belongs.
22:29Amy's home.
22:31My Strictly memories
22:33are something
22:33that will stay close
22:35and in my heart
22:36forever.
22:46Amy in that pink dress
22:48and that group number
22:49was one of my favourite
22:50Strictly moments ever.
22:51Now, you may have seen
22:53the news this week
22:53that Amy will be
22:54undergoing surgery.
22:56From everybody here
22:57at It Takes Two,
22:57we just want to wish you,
22:58Amy, a speedy recovery.
23:00It's a privilege
23:00to relive some of the
23:01unforgettable moments
23:03you have given us
23:04so far.
23:05And right,
23:06speaking of
23:06unforgettable moments,
23:08on Saturday night,
23:09Louis and Katia
23:10gave us a routine
23:11that is going to live
23:12long in our memory.
23:14Here's a reminder
23:14of how they achieved
23:15Strictly perfection.
23:17This is one of those moments
23:21we're going to look
23:22in five, ten years
23:23and be like,
23:24oh, remember when
23:25Louis came
23:26and did that thing?
23:28Honestly,
23:29out of this world.
23:32This is Halloween,
23:33darlings,
23:34Futacular!
23:38That dance
23:39is as good
23:40as anything
23:41we've ever seen.
23:42It was
23:43amazing!
23:50Give it up
23:51for Louis and Katia!
23:55Guys,
23:55the first
23:57perfect score
23:58of the series!
24:08Yes, yes.
24:10There is a bigger fanfare
24:11because you got all the tens!
24:12You got all the tens!
24:14Can you believe it?
24:14And one more
24:15from Nanodot.
24:16Oh, Nanodot as well.
24:17We're going to talk
24:18about Nanodot in a second
24:19because I'm obsessed
24:19with Nanodot.
24:21Anton said
24:22it's as good
24:22as anything
24:23he's ever seen
24:24on Strictly.
24:25I mean,
24:26what does that kind
24:27of reaction mean to you?
24:28When you hear that?
24:29That's wild, isn't it?
24:30Because obviously
24:31there's so many
24:32brilliant performances
24:33and people over the years
24:34and to hear that
24:35is just, like, surreal.
24:36It's surreal.
24:37It really was, though.
24:39And Katia,
24:39it's only your second
24:40ever 40
24:41in Strictly.
24:43I know.
24:43Your first one being
24:44when you were in the final
24:45with John McFadden.
24:46At one point in the week
24:47did you know
24:48that you had something
24:48really special
24:49with this dance?
24:50We didn't.
24:52You know,
24:52when you rehearse
24:53in an empty hall
24:54at, like,
24:567am in the morning,
24:57it's dark,
24:58freezing cold.
24:59There's no props,
25:00there's no costumes.
25:02You can't fully
25:03visualise the whole dance
25:05and all we could do
25:06is just film
25:07and go over it
25:09millimetre by millimetre.
25:10We wanted it to be
25:11absolutely perfect,
25:13the synchronisation.
25:14We literally filmed
25:15and watched,
25:16do again.
25:16Filmed and watched,
25:17do again.
25:18No, a bit higher,
25:18a bit lower.
25:19And I think
25:20we got to the point
25:22where we were so exhausted
25:24on Friday
25:25that I couldn't even tell you.
25:28I don't think
25:28we could even talk.
25:29No.
25:29We did it three times.
25:32We collapsed on the floor
25:33and I was just so exhausted.
25:35Well, that meant
25:35that you knew in your heart
25:36you couldn't give more.
25:38Correct.
25:38You did everything
25:39you possibly could
25:39to make it the best
25:40you could possibly be
25:41and it was the best
25:42it could possibly be.
25:43And he also featured
25:44some tap dancing
25:45in the routine.
25:47Can you tell us
25:48a little bit more
25:48about that whole section
25:49and how it worked for you?
25:50Yeah, I mean,
25:51there was like
25:52a little whistle solo
25:53in the music
25:54and I think straight away
25:55they were like,
25:56would you be able
25:57to do a little bit
25:57of tap to it?
25:58So then we worked
25:59with Matt
26:00on doing some tap
26:01and then they said
26:02but now you have
26:03to do it on top
26:04of a piano.
26:04All right.
26:05All right.
26:06With a stick.
26:07With a stick.
26:08Yeah.
26:08With a wobbly piano.
26:10It was so wobbly
26:11on Friday.
26:13Awful.
26:14But then it seemed
26:15to really work
26:16didn't it?
26:16And people don't realize
26:17but that's actually
26:18you tapping.
26:19Yeah, that was me tapping.
26:19You pre-recorded the tap
26:20didn't you?
26:21Yeah, we pre-recorded it.
26:22And there's the photo there
26:22so you pre-recorded
26:23you in actual tap shoes
26:24actually doing the tapping.
26:25Yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:26That is phenomenal.
26:27I loved it so much.
26:28There was also somebody
26:30that you brought in
26:30before that very highly
26:32rated it.
26:33Nana Dot.
26:34Oh!
26:34Who finally gave you
26:35the ten.
26:36But what did she make of it?
26:37What else did she say?
26:38Oh, she loved it.
26:39Well, she was in tears.
26:40She cried.
26:41I bet.
26:41We FaceTimed her
26:42straight after
26:43and she was there
26:44with a paddle
26:45crying her eyes out.
26:46It was a beautiful moment.
26:48I'm not going to lie, guys.
26:49I was crying.
26:50I was just so pleased
26:50for you, Louis.
26:51Everyone said
26:52they were crying.
26:52Sorry, because
26:53Craig got the ten out.
26:54You know what I mean?
26:56Well, before we move on
26:57to this week's dance
26:58Nana Dot has sent us
27:00a message.
27:00No!
27:02Good luck,
27:03Luz and Katia.
27:05You always get a ten
27:07from me.
27:09Oh, Nana Dot!
27:12Always get a ten
27:13from Nana Dot.
27:14So let's go on
27:15to this week
27:16because that was amazing
27:17but new week,
27:17new dance.
27:18We don't want to!
27:18But you need to,
27:20sorry,
27:21so the way the competition works,
27:21you're doing the
27:22cha-cha-cha.
27:22That's right.
27:23And you're dancing to this.
27:24Oh, you love it
27:25today, don't you?
27:27I like it like that.
27:29Peep Rodriguez.
27:31This is for all my people,
27:32Katia.
27:33This is for my people.
27:35So last week,
27:36you said that you really
27:37enjoy learning the dance
27:38properly
27:39and you liked
27:40getting into it.
27:41The cha-cha-cha,
27:42though,
27:43tell me about it.
27:44What are you liking it?
27:45If you like any of it.
27:46It's really, really,
27:47really tough.
27:47Tell them the truth.
27:49I just said it's tough.
27:50So this is today.
27:52This is looking good,
27:53Louis.
27:53Well,
27:54the thing is,
27:55Jeanette,
27:55right,
27:57he has no measure
27:58of what is good
27:59and what is not good.
28:00Right.
28:01He's just doing
28:02what I'm telling him
28:03and supposedly,
28:05eventually,
28:05it will be
28:06cha-cha-cha.
28:07Yes.
28:07So,
28:08all of the new,
28:10it's very technical.
28:11People that think
28:12cha-cha-cha is the easiest
28:12dance,
28:13it's the hardest.
28:13It's not, yeah.
28:14It's honestly
28:14the most technical dance.
28:16So,
28:16it feels really awkward.
28:18How are you finding it,
28:19specifically?
28:20Are you struggling?
28:20Physically,
28:21it's quite hard
28:21to obviously,
28:22like,
28:22get the different shapes
28:23and the transferring
28:24of the weight
28:25and all of that.
28:26So,
28:26we spent,
28:26like,
28:26the last three days.
28:27From foot to foot.
28:28That's right.
28:29position,
28:30then transfer,
28:31then ping,
28:31ping.
28:32Not even ping,
28:33actually.
28:33It's more of a...
28:34Are you enjoying any of it?
28:35I am enjoying it.
28:36I am enjoying it.
28:37And that's a brilliant song
28:38and hopefully,
28:39by the weekend,
28:40we can get it all together
28:40and go to a good performance.
28:41So, you know,
28:41I'm Cuban.
28:42I don't know if I've said it enough.
28:44And this is a Cuban song.
28:46So,
28:46just channel my familia
28:47into your body.
28:49I'll try.
28:49Your name this week
28:50should not be Luis.
28:50It should be Luis,
28:51like my dad.
28:52Like your dad?
28:53My dad's name is Luis.
28:54So,
28:54channel Luis this weekend.
28:55If you've been to their Christmas,
28:56it's a vibe.
28:57It's a vibe.
28:59Get the Cuban vibes.
29:01I'll try.
29:02It's a bit different article.
29:03Are you setting yourself
29:04any goals for scores
29:05this week though?
29:06Perfect score at the weekend.
29:08That's a big thing to follow.
29:09Yeah,
29:09we don't really do that.
29:10We've never done that
29:11from the beginning.
29:12Like every week's a new week.
29:13As you say,
29:13it's a new style,
29:14a new routine.
29:16Absolute...
29:16It's brand new.
29:17Every week's brand new.
29:18So,
29:18we try not to kind of
29:19set ourselves...
29:20Yeah,
29:21so new week,
29:21new dance,
29:22new scores.
29:22Fingers crossed.
29:23A perfect one in there somewhere,
29:25right?
29:25Good luck to the two of you.
29:27It's Luis and Katya.
29:31That's all for tonight.
29:32I'll be back tomorrow
29:33when I'm joined by
29:34Vicky Gill
29:34and costume supervisor
29:36Jane Marcantonio Cubici,
29:38who will be answering
29:39all of your questions.
29:40Plus,

29:41and Amber and Nikita

29:44into the weekend
