00:00Growing up as a youngster in the NFL, loving NFL football.
00:03Hey, the trade deadline's next.
00:04What trade deadline?
00:05There's a trade deadline in the NFL?
00:06Nobody's traded for like 30 straight years to the NFL
00:09because you can't learn the playbooks.
00:10It doesn't make sense.
00:11That's not how we do business.
00:12So the NFL goes, let's spice it up a little bit.
00:14We'll move the trade deadline back
00:15so teams that actually think they're out of it
00:17can move assets and teams that think
00:18they can win a Super Bowl can buy assets.
00:20And that's what you got yesterday.
00:22The notable trades, particularly with the New York Jets,
00:26Sauce Gardner on the way to take on or play for the Colts.
00:29Great move there for both sides.
00:31Queen and Williams goes to the Dallas Cowboys.
00:34Multiple compensation packages back to the Jets
00:36that should load them up for the future.
00:39The champions, at least for one day, were the Jets yesterday, Joe.
00:44Yeah, and it's funny too.
00:46And some of the things that, you know, flew under the radar,
00:49I think we had 10 deals in all over Monday and Tuesday
00:53before 4 o'clock Eastern time.
00:55Donnie, that is, and the names that we got here
00:59and the amount of draft assets that swapped hands yesterday
01:03was kind of the first, Donnie,
01:06because we've never had a deadline like that.
01:09And kudos, by the way, to Jerry Jones.
01:12We kind of mocked him a little bit yesterday, Donnie,
01:15saying, what is he teasing?
01:16Like, he can't be teasing Logan.
01:18Well, like this can't.
01:20Well, listen, if Quinton Williams is what he had in mind here,
01:23well, all of a sudden, you know,
01:25Quinton Williams is under contract for two more years,
01:28so Jerry will have him there, no problem.
01:31And listen, they can't stop the run,
01:33so you can't fault Jerry here.
01:35When you look back at what that trade was with Parsons now
01:38and you throw Quinton Williams into it,
01:41it's a lot easier to swallow if I am a Cowboys fan moving,
01:45because don't forget how many injuries they have
01:47on that defensive line there.
01:49So Jerry was true to his word yesterday
01:52and basically siphoning off one of the best players
01:55the Jets have had in a very, very long time
01:57on the defensive side of the ball.
01:59But the Jets are doing what the Jets should have been doing
02:02a decade ago, Donnie.
02:03You've got to blow it up, and you've got to start from scratch.
02:06Look at Detroit right now, case in point,
02:09how miserable they were for decades, Donnie.
02:12And then they finally said, nope, no more.
02:15Let's burn it down.
02:16Let's build it from scratch and go from there.
02:18And their head coach happens to be a guy that was part
02:21of that rebuild in Detroit.
02:23So finally, some common sense out of the New York Jets.
02:26It's almost like two sides you could take a look at this, too.
02:29Like, if you're the head coach of the Jets right now
02:30and you sit back and go like, okay, well,
02:32I don't have too much pressure,
02:33but will you actually get to see this through?
02:35Or did that foundation get built only for a new coach
02:38to come in like Tony Dungy and the Bucs?
02:39Like, hey, great foundation built us up.
02:42We're a playoff team.
02:42Now we need to be a contender to win it all.
02:44You're going to get fired, Tony Dungy.
02:45In comes John Grue at this point.
02:47We see that across the sports landscape a lot,
02:49and that should be something interesting to watch.
02:50Now Jets GM Moogie says it's not really a teardown.
02:54Let's hear some of his thoughts now.
02:55Again, like you hear them and you're like,
02:57I probably wouldn't do that, but we have our set values.
03:00We keep all those conversations private.
03:03And when it came down to the last few days,
03:05Indianapolis kept getting richer and richer with their value.
03:09And eventually, like I said, was too good to pass up.
03:13But I have a lot of conversations throughout the course of the year
03:16with different GMs, and this one materialized.
03:21Is there any job in sports, business, in life that would be better
03:25for a person that likes the NFL to be an NFL GM?
03:28This guy gets to play fantasy football and then talks to the press
03:31in a hat and a hoodie.
03:33That is the greatest job on earth, if you could hold that, Joe.
03:36I agree, but listen, you got to appreciate the guy having the gumption
03:41to be able to do it.
03:43And, you know, Woody giving them the okay and the thumbs up
03:47to trade two cornerstone players.
03:49One guy you just signed and locked up forever,
03:52giving them the richest deal ever for a defensive back.
03:54And now you shipped them out 10 games into the season.
03:58So you got to love that at least Woody is saying,
04:01all right, guys, it's time for, here you go.
04:04Now go ahead, get as many assets as you can,
04:06and that's how you got to restart.
04:08It starts, Donnie, of course.
04:09If it's not this year, it'll be 2027, but you need that quarterback,
04:14and there's only one place to go get one, Donnie,
04:16and that's in the draft.
