00:00:17Because we've invited the world's finest bakers here too
00:00:22That's cool
00:00:23What in the world? Do you need a hand?
00:00:25This seat, eight brand new teams will take part in the most extraordinary competition

00:00:39They'll conjure up all sorts of spellbinding sweet creations
00:00:46Inspired by the world of Harry Potter
00:00:52Then they'll present them to our formidable ministers of baking
00:00:57A top chef all-star whose very mantra is to cook with love
00:01:01Chef Carla Hall
00:01:03And an acclaimed chef who has worked in Michelin star kitchens around the world
00:01:08Chef Joseph Youssef
00:01:10Yes
00:01:11There we go
00:01:12As well as some very special guests
00:01:15This is what I've waited 20 years for
00:01:17Guiding us are two chaps who are no strangers to Hogwarts
00:01:21Fred and George Weasley themselves
00:01:23Ready Fred?
00:01:24Ready George
00:01:25James and Oliver Phelps
00:01:27Well, isn't the Flu Network amazing?
00:01:31So let the magic and the baking begin
00:01:35Oh my god
00:01:46We are literally in the great hall
00:01:48This is like a dream come true
00:01:50I am a huge fan of the books and the movies
00:01:52Oh my god
00:01:53Oh my god
00:01:54I can't believe it we are here
00:01:55Look, look, look
00:01:56Whoa
00:01:57I don't even know where to look
00:02:00Dude, the trophy has Jordan and Zoe's name on it
00:02:02No way
00:02:03Yeah
00:02:04Yeah
00:02:05Yeah
00:02:06I can't believe it we are here
00:02:07Look, look, look
00:02:08Whoa
00:02:09I don't even know where to look
00:02:10Dude, the trophy has Jordan and Zoe's name on it
00:02:11No way
00:02:12Yeah
00:02:13Yeah
00:02:14Oh my god
00:02:15I can't believe it
00:02:16Oh my god
00:02:17Oh my god
00:02:18Oh my god
00:02:19Oh my god
00:02:20Oh my god
00:02:21Oh my god
00:02:22Oh my god
00:02:24Oh my god
00:02:25Oh my god
00:02:26Oh my god
00:02:28Okay now, playing cool
00:02:29I want to use it
00:02:30Attention bankers!
00:02:31Oh my god
00:02:32Come on, come down, come down, come down, come down
00:02:34Come down, come down
00:02:35When James and Oliver Phelps
00:02:36The Weasley twins themselves came in
00:02:38They snuck in so quiet for such tall boys
00:02:40No, no, no, no.
00:03:10So, of course, this is the Great Hall.
00:03:13And it's been the scene of some truly unforgettable moments for you, Bull.
00:03:19Dumbledore's iconic speeches.
00:03:21Welcome, welcome to another year at Hogwarts.
00:03:25And most impressive of all,
00:03:27Fred and George's firework display.
00:03:40If the Harry Potter story has taught us anything,
00:03:46it's that success is rarely achieved alone.
00:03:49It requires teamwork, cooperation,
00:03:52and normally, Hermione telling everyone what to do.
00:03:56Naturally.
00:03:57So, for this competition, you've been placed into pairs
00:04:00based on your complementary skills.
00:04:03So, you ready to get started?
00:04:04Yes!
00:04:06Good, because it's time for your first challenge.
00:04:08Each team will be assigned a Hogwarts house
00:04:11to use as the inspiration for your first showpiece.
00:04:17Now, there are eight teams, but only four houses.
00:04:21That means that you'll be facing off
00:04:23in four head-to-head duels.
00:04:27Oh, what?
00:04:28The winning team in each duel
00:04:30will live to bake another day.
00:04:31The losing team could be heading home
00:04:34before the fat lady sings.
00:04:38But which houses will you get?
00:04:40Jenny and Alex?
00:04:42Heather and Kate, could you step forward?
00:04:44Oh, my goodness.
00:04:45So, it wouldn't feel right for us
00:04:49to assign you guys a house.
00:04:51So, we asked a special friend to do the honors.
00:04:54The suspense is killing me.
00:04:56Mmm.
00:04:58Difficult.
00:04:58Very difficult.
00:05:00Plenty of courage, I see.
00:05:03Oh, my gosh.
00:05:03It's the sorting hat.
00:05:05I think the sorting ceremony is so epic
00:05:07because it's one of the first things that happens
00:05:09when the students get to Hogwarts
00:05:10and it's the first thing that's happening to us here
00:05:13in the competition.
00:05:13And so, it really feels like our entrance
00:05:16into the Harry Potter world.
00:05:18There's talent.
00:05:20Oh, yes.
00:05:21But where to put you?
00:05:24Not slithering.
00:05:24Better be...
00:05:26Gryffindor!
00:05:32So, Gryffindor students are known
00:05:34for their courage, bravery, and determination.
00:05:37So, do keep that in mind.
00:05:39Okay.
00:05:40Okay.
00:05:40But before we head off to the kitchen,
00:05:41here are a few rules.
00:05:43The showpieces need to include
00:05:45a mouth-watering tasting element,
00:05:48and they also need to feature one effect,
00:05:51and that has to be inspired
00:05:53by the element that your house is famous for.
00:05:57For Gryffindor, that is, of course,
00:06:00fire!
00:06:01Yeah, yeah.
00:06:02And in six hours, you're going to bring your creations
00:06:05back here to be judged.
00:06:07Yes.
00:06:08Good luck, and...
00:06:09I've been waiting ages to say this...
00:06:11Let the baking begin!
00:06:12Oh, my goodness.
00:06:13Oh, my goodness.
00:06:18Oh, my goodness.
00:06:22This is so cool.
00:06:28Oh, my goodness.
00:06:30Oh, my goodness.
00:06:34Look at this.
00:06:35Oh, my goodness.
00:06:35This is so cool.
00:06:36Oh, we're sorting out.
00:06:37I know.
00:06:38Look at that.
00:06:39Look at that.
00:06:41¡Gracias!
00:07:11¡Suscríbete al canal!
00:07:41...holding Baby Norbert in his oven gloves.
00:07:44I'm a chocolatier, so I think I should be doing the egg, also the chocolate flames.
00:07:49Oh my God, are you ready? Are you ready?
00:07:52Let's do this.
00:07:53Come on, let's just go.
00:07:56Don't be fooled by her bubbly personality.
00:08:00Self-taught cake artist Jenny is a force to be reckoned with.
00:08:04With an impressive cake résumé and a knack for hyper-realism.
00:08:11Hoping to mix up the competition with his chocolatier skills,
00:08:16Chef Alex pairs innovative techniques with flavours that are sure to surprise and excite.
00:08:23I think we both know that we've got some crazy skills.
00:08:27Yeah.
00:08:28Your chocolate work is just phenomenal.
00:08:31What about your cake skills?
00:08:33Hello, yeah, thank you. I'm not very good at compliments, but okay.
00:08:36Um, okay, well, the Gryffindor is represented by the lion.
00:08:41Yes.
00:08:41Our showpiece is inspired by the iconic elements of Gryffindor.
00:08:44I think making sort of the lion represent the fire.
00:08:47I love it, and I think we have to include the sword, right?
00:08:50Godric's sword, yeah.
00:08:51And I always think of, like, Hermione. She's carrying books all the time.
00:08:55When I think of the Gryffindors, I think they're always in their robes and the scarf.
00:09:01We're the newbies. We've got to make a big impact right out of Kate.
00:09:05Right.
00:09:05It's really surreal being here, a little overwhelming.
00:09:08We haven't ever done any of this before, so it's all new for us.
00:09:11Like Kate, I haven't competed in a competition of this magnitude,
00:09:15but we got something up our sleeve.
00:09:18Yes.
00:09:19I will soft this one in the microwave so it is faster.
00:09:24Alex is making our tasting element.
00:09:27He's the king of flavors,
00:09:28and the tasting element will be hidden underneath the chocolate egg.
00:09:33This is my first TV show, so I'm really excited.
00:09:36I wanted to replicate Norbert's egg as real as possible.
00:09:40I'm just spraying some bronze cacao butter, so it looks more realistic.
00:09:45For me, chocolate, it's my life.
00:09:47I really love how to create new things and making these weird ideas that I have in my mind.
00:09:55How does it look?
00:09:56That's looking gorgeous.
00:09:57Yeah, right?
00:09:58I'm from Cuernavaca, Morelos.
00:10:01It is a little town next to the capital in Mexico.
00:10:04I am kind of a bohemian.
00:10:06I love writing poetry.
00:10:08I play the guitar.
00:10:09Really?
00:10:09I used to have a band, yeah.
00:10:11I've been playing the horn now for nearly 40 years.
00:10:14Are you kidding me?
00:10:15We should have a band.
00:10:15So, Jenny, how big of a fan of Harry Potter are you?
00:10:22I'm actually obsessed.
00:10:24Okay.
00:10:24Obviously, I've read all the books numerous times.
00:10:27Okay.
00:10:27I've seen all the films.
00:10:29Okay.
00:10:30I've listened to the audio books.
00:10:31I have the outfits.
00:10:32I have the wands.
00:10:33We have the costumes.
00:10:34I have the jewelry.
00:10:35Oh, yeah.
00:10:39Okay, bakers.
00:10:41So, one house has been allocated.
00:10:43Three to go.
00:10:45Molly and Priya, Angel and Rui, you're next.
00:10:49I don't want to get Slytherin.
00:10:50I'm worried about that.
00:10:51I really don't like snakes.
00:10:54Ah.
00:10:55Right then.
00:10:58Hufflepuff.
00:10:59Hey!
00:11:02Hufflepuffs.
00:11:02The Hufflepuff house element is earth, so you need to keep that in mind for your first showpiece.
00:11:10Right, guys, what you're waiting for?
00:11:11Your time's already started.
00:11:12Come on.
00:11:12You've got six hours.
00:11:13Go, go, go.
00:11:22Wow.
00:11:23Oh, my God.
00:11:24Oh, my God.
00:11:26Wow.
00:11:28Oh, my gosh.
00:11:30I decided to cook.
00:11:31Hi.
00:11:32I've never baked anywhere like this before.
00:11:34This is incredible.
00:11:35Amazing.
00:11:36So, what do you think?
00:11:37So, we need to do something that's really big.
00:11:40Yep.
00:11:40How about if we do a forest scene?
00:11:42A forest?
00:11:43Yeah.
00:11:44I like that.
00:11:44I like the garden.
00:11:45I like the, like, soil.
00:11:47What I am good at is animals.
00:11:48I think that should definitely be carved cake, because that kind of is my specialty.
00:11:51So, the badger's going to be cake.
00:11:53We need something on the top.
00:11:55Like, why don't we do the greenhouse classroom on top?
00:11:58How do we make it look like glass, though?
00:11:59We could do a little sugar work.
00:12:01The cake is mainly going to have, like, three main focal points.
00:12:05It's going to have the badger, the watering can, and then we've got the Professor Spouts
00:12:10greenhouse on the top, because Professor Spouts, a Hufflepuff.
00:12:13We'll have mushrooms and snails and just every element of a perfect enchanted forest scene.
00:12:21I'm also a little bit concerned with the greenhouse on top.
00:12:24Like, we've got to go for it.
00:12:29A renowned master of chocolate, Canada's Priya, arrived onto the scene after earning global
00:12:36recognition for her chocolate artistry.
00:12:42The daughter of a celebrated English comedian and a showgirl, Molly always makes an entrance.
00:12:48She sculpts lifelike cakes that never fail to impress.
00:12:55Molly and Priya are hungry to rewrite the rulebook for all wizards of baking.
00:13:00Oh, hello.
00:13:02We've realised we have similar tastes, similar style.
00:13:06We both run our own businesses.
00:13:07We also are, like, incredibly strong, independent women, and we are here to win.
00:13:15Oh, wow.
00:13:17The first thing I'm doing is the greenhouse on the top made of isomalt.
00:13:22I've already set all of my bars to create the shapes for the front, back, sides, and top of the greenhouse.
00:13:29Wow.
00:13:30I honestly think it looks fantastic.
00:13:32Yeah.
00:13:33It is striking, just clear as glass.
00:13:38So I'm putting the pieces together, very carefully warming the edges.
00:13:43And the isomalt is cracking.
00:13:50It's so fragile.
00:13:54Priya, no.
00:13:56It's the focal point.
00:13:57It's the top of the piece.
00:13:58Terrifying.
00:14:01Ah.
00:14:02The gazebo has had an accident, but it's okay.
00:14:07We're going to keep going.
00:14:08We'll be fine.
00:14:09Just stick it back together on this one.
00:14:13Like, I've got some gaps here.
00:14:15I like the crack.
00:14:16You do?
00:14:17Yeah, we're going to add a vine to it.
00:14:19I'm adding the stained glass to the isomalt.
00:14:22I drew the stained glass design.
00:14:24I'm just going to stick it on with a bit of piping gel.
00:14:27We had a crack in the isomalt, but then we realized the real Professor Sprouts greenhouse has got cracks in it and great big vines growing through it.
00:14:35So we're just making it a design feature.
00:14:37So if anything, it's going to look even better.
00:14:39Look, Priya.
00:14:41Yeah, Molly.
00:14:42So good.
00:14:43I am so ready to do this challenge.
00:14:48Angel is definitely a person with good energy.
00:14:50I can feel your vibes.
00:14:52We have a very different personality, but it's a good compliment.
00:14:57Known as a culinary mad scientist, molecular gastronomy specialist Chef Rui creates edible experiments that dazzle and delight,
00:15:08packed with copious amounts of flavor in every single bite.
00:15:17Chiliboard and Colorado-based Angel is a creative force whose sculpted cakes and clever problem-solving skills are equal parts art and ingenuity.
00:15:32I think I'm a Hufflepuff because I am very connected to the earth.
00:15:41My family loves to go camping.
00:15:44We go fishing and skiing and everything that involves to be outside.
00:15:49Oh, I hate camping.
00:15:51It's so uncomfortable.
00:15:53There's no mattress.
00:15:55There's no air conditioner.
00:15:57There's no heater.
00:15:58It's so uncomfortable.
00:16:00You're so bougie.
00:16:00We have our armature for our garden box.
00:16:05Our element, it's earth.
00:16:06So we really want to make the men's rake.
00:16:10Got it.
00:16:11And now you dunk it down into the other pot and pour a little sprinkling of soil to keep it warm.
00:16:22In our garden box, we're going to have a big men's rake.
00:16:25We're going to have dirt inside made of cocoa crumpled.
00:16:29And then we're going to have three little baby mandrakes.
00:16:32So this is a mandrake.
00:16:33I'm going to be carving this out of cake.
00:16:35And this is the mouth.
00:16:36And it's going to be moving and screaming.
00:16:43Hello.
00:16:43How are you?
00:16:45I have to make sure it's not too heavy so it actually goes up and down.
00:16:49That's why I'm using rice cereal because that's the lightest thing I can use.
00:16:53And modeling chocolate on top.
00:16:57I'm adding these roots to give it a little bit more high.
00:17:01I'm loving him.
00:17:03Beautiful.
00:17:03Oh, boy.
00:17:09Jo and Katie.
00:17:11Marge and Sarah.
00:17:13Front and center, please.
00:17:15Oh, boy.
00:17:17So, only two houses left.
00:17:19Slytherin and Ravenclaw.
00:17:21Ha!
00:17:21I know just what to do with you.
00:17:25Slytherin!
00:17:26Yes!
00:17:29Slytherins are known for their pride, ambition, and cunning.
00:17:34Their house element is the suitably slippery substance of water.
00:17:41So, you need to keep that in mind for your creations.
00:17:45Guys, time to slither off to the kitchen.
00:17:47Good luck!
00:17:49Yay! Slytherin!
00:17:50Slytherin!
00:17:52We're very ambitious.
00:17:53We're ready to give everything that we have.
00:17:55We have to win.
00:17:57I want to win, but we have to win.
00:18:03We have to win.
00:18:04We have to win.
00:18:05We have to win.
00:18:05Wow!
00:18:07What just happened?
00:18:08Oh, my God.
00:18:09Oh, my God.
00:18:10We just went through the blue network.
00:18:12Oh, my God.
00:18:12I'll try to not freak out.
00:18:14I might cry.
00:18:15I get a little anxious.
00:18:17A little bad under pressure.
00:18:19So, you know.
00:18:19It's okay.
00:18:20You'll have me.
00:18:21I'll be your personal cheerleader.
00:18:22Yeah.
00:18:22Yeah, we'll be good.
00:18:23Hey, hi, guys.
00:18:24So, I've competed on five baking shows, and I won three.
00:18:28I'm so glad you're my teammate, because I've never competed on a TV show before.
00:18:32I am a chocolatier.
00:18:33I've been asked to be on competitions all the time, and I'm like, no, I don't do TV.
00:18:37That's not for me.
00:18:38When they were like, it's Harry Potter, and I was like, today.
00:18:41I'll go there today.
00:18:43Lucky for us, I'm a 4.0 student, and I'm here to win.
00:18:47Can I know a fun fact?
00:18:48Mm-hmm.
00:18:48I was also a 4.0 student.
00:18:50We've got to create something really epic.
00:18:55Could we do, like, Voldemort?
00:18:58Why not?
00:18:59Right.
00:18:59You're all right.
00:19:00So, you know what I'm thinking?
00:19:01So, we have to integrate water.
00:19:03Oh, the scene.
00:19:04You know when the water is spinning in it?
00:19:06In the Ministry of Magic?
00:19:07Yes.
00:19:07Yeah.
00:19:07Yeah.
00:19:07Yeah.
00:19:07So, we can do, like, a cascading, like, gravity-defying isomal.
00:19:26This is going to be really, really challenging, because of the weight.
00:19:31Let's get started.
00:19:31What is something that is so Slytherin, it's unmistakable?
00:19:38So, yeah, we have to use water.
00:19:40When I think water, I think of the Chamber of Secrets.
00:19:42Maybe we'll do, like, a multi-level floor view.
00:19:46Yeah.
00:19:46Like, you start at the top in the hallway of Hogwarts, where it's, like, the wall that has the warning of, like, the air beware.
00:19:53Right?
00:19:54And then maybe, like, as you go downward, there's the snake door that you have to speak in parcel tongue to open.
00:20:01And then below that, it could be, like, the Chamber of Secrets.
00:20:04It's, like, the big cavernous crypt.
00:20:06Perfect.
00:20:07Yes.
00:20:08Our show piece consists of three tiers.
00:20:10The middle tier will have stalagmites and stalactites added on either side of the door.
00:20:15The entrance walkway will be surrounded by water and lead up to a cavern with a huge carving of Salazar Slytherin's face.
00:20:21Emerging from the entrance of the wall is a large basilisk.
00:20:25On the walkway lies the diary of Tom Riddle.
00:20:28Rip it off like a band-aid.
00:20:29Wow.
00:20:30Marge, this has been crazy so far, right?
00:20:32Like, I feel like we just met each other.
00:20:34Yeah, I know.
00:20:34We actually did just meet each other.
00:20:36Now we have to force ourselves to work together with our different styles.
00:20:40I am obsessed with pro wrestling.
00:20:43That is my thing.
00:20:44Going to Comic-Con.
00:20:45And I love cosplay.
00:20:47I'm not really girly, I would say.
00:20:49I've always been a tomboy.
00:20:50People look at me and they always tell me they're so intimidated by me.
00:20:54When I first saw you, I thought maybe she'll hate me.
00:20:57I don't know.
00:20:57But honestly, you're the sweetest person.
00:21:00I think we're pretty polar opposites.
00:21:03When I'm not baking, I love spending time with my two cats at home.
00:21:07I love gardening, everything to do with flowers.
00:21:10Sarah's like a princess, like a...
00:21:12All right, yeah, this is lining up so good.
00:21:18The top tier of our showpiece is made out of dark chocolate that I cast into a silicone mold.
00:21:24I'm just giving it a little hair dry.
00:21:26That looks so cool.
00:21:28I'm doing a lot of cocoa butter spraying to give some dimension.
00:21:32I then go back with a really fine brush and red cocoa butter to hand paint the ominous message.
00:21:38We're good, we're good.
00:21:40Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.
00:21:40I'm a chocolatier.
00:21:42I don't usually work with rice cereal, but this is fun.
00:21:45Learning new mediums.
00:21:47This is where the tasting cake is going to go.
00:21:49So build this guy up to here and then leave the spots for cake, okay?
00:21:51Perfect.
00:21:52Okay.
00:21:52And what about yay high for the cake?
00:21:54Very technical.
00:21:55Yay high.
00:21:56Yay high.
00:21:58I am now a cake artist.
00:22:02It is looking a little bit messy right now, but we will save time to clean it up.
00:22:06But it's looking good.
00:22:07Yep.
00:22:07Yep.
00:22:07Best for last.
00:22:13Well, with only two teams left and one house to go, any guesses?
00:22:18Ravenclaw.
00:22:19That is right.
00:22:22Oh, no.
00:22:23Ken and Jelisa and you and Stefan.
00:22:25Ravenclaws are known for their wit, their wisdom, and their learning.
00:22:29And the house element is air.
00:22:31So, come then.
00:22:32Get cracking.
00:22:33Off your pot.
00:22:34Good luck, guys.
00:22:35And the script is very, very clear.
00:22:38That trophy needs to say Caitlyn and Jelisa, season two winners.
00:22:41I actually have previously competed with Jelisa before.
00:22:44I did beat her.
00:22:46Seeing if I can do it for a second time.
00:22:47Oh, my God.
00:22:55What?
00:22:59That's crazy.
00:23:01Whoa, this is our station.
00:23:02Oh, my God.
00:23:02Okay.
00:23:03I think Raven.
00:23:04Raven needs to be, like, the main part of it.
00:23:07Yeah, because I know you're good with, like, chocolate and stuff like that.
00:23:09You think you could do, like...
00:23:10I could do some chocolate wings.
00:23:12Yeah, I could do some chocolate feathers.
00:23:13Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:23:14If we do, like, maybe, like, an open book, we still have to include, I think, like, a really
00:23:18important part of Ravenclaw, like, a part of the movies, the diadem.
00:23:21Then we could maybe create that with sugar.
00:23:23We can kind of set it on, like, a pillow.
00:23:25Could that be my entremé, then?
00:23:27Yeah, so the entremé would be the pillow.
00:23:29I like that.
00:23:30We need to do something really theatrical.
00:23:32It's actually my motto for life is to make it magical.
00:23:35And I try to make it magical every day, and that's whether it's with my desserts, whether
00:23:39it's DJing, whether it is having a gospel night with my amazing wife, who's a powerful
00:23:45singer.
00:23:46What about the wings?
00:23:47That's ambitious.
00:23:48Yeah.
00:23:48I am a cake artist.
00:23:51I definitely had to convince my parents to let me go to culinary school, and they were
00:23:54like, yeah, I mean, as long as, you know, you pay, and then you can go.
00:24:00So, you know, I'm in debt, but we're good.
00:24:03Taking a risk, but I think it's cool.
00:24:03A little bit more than we need to, but I think that it's the first episode.
00:24:07Honestly, let's go for it.
00:24:09So we have to do air.
00:24:10So something was like, um, what if we did a bird actually flying?
00:24:15Love that.
00:24:15Okay.
00:24:16From Maryland.
00:24:17Mom of two, Caitlin, is bringing her enthusiasm and passion for bold cake designs with her
00:24:25into the kitchen.
00:24:27New Jersey mom of two, Jaleesa, enters the competition equally determined to take home
00:24:34the trophy.
00:24:35Both of these strong-minded bakers have their eyes focused on the prize.
00:24:40You know, we're both very competitive.
00:24:42I'm very good at what I do.
00:24:46I've won two competitions before.
00:24:47I competed on spring bacon championship, won that.
00:24:51We're not going into this very cocky and big head, like, oh, yeah, I'm really good at what...
00:24:54It's like, yes, we're good at what we do, but we're also...
00:24:56We can back it up.
00:24:57Yeah.
00:24:57You know how when they cast a spell, the gust that kind of shows on the outside of the line?
00:25:02Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:25:02I want to somehow try to incorporate, like, some moves.
00:25:05Should we do, like, Wingardium Leviosa?
00:25:06Yes, yes, like Hermione, the way she's, like, trying to pronounce it.
00:25:09It's Leviosa, not Leviosa.
00:25:13You do it, then, if you're so clever.
00:25:16Go on, go on.
00:25:17Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:18Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:22Wingardium Leviosa.
00:25:26What if one of the books is open and that's where the magic comes out?
00:25:28And that's how the gust comes out.
00:25:29I like that.
00:25:30Okay, okay, so we're doing a table and books.
00:25:32Our tasting element will be inside of the books.
00:25:34Also, we're going to have a homework scroll that says the Wingardium Leviosa spell.
00:25:39And then the raven on top is our showstopper.
00:25:42I had no idea how competitive I was until I started competing.
00:25:46I just thought, like, oh, it's a friendly competition.
00:25:49I'm going to, like, try my best.
00:25:50I'm like, yeah.
00:25:51And then it was like, no, I'm elbowing people, and I'm a track star, and I will run to grab
00:25:54what I want, and I will take the last one and not care, because I want to win.
00:25:57The whole point of a competition is to win.
00:26:04Isn't the Flume Network amazing?
00:26:10Oh, my God!
00:26:12So, remember, teams, you all began 30 minutes apart.
00:26:16So, some of you will finish before others.
00:26:20Oh.
00:26:21Gryffindor teams, you started first.
00:26:23So, you'll be the first to step up and present to the judges.
00:26:27Okay.
00:26:27Yeah.
00:26:28Hufflepuff teams, you will present yours 30 minutes later.
00:26:31Slytherin will be next.
00:26:33And then, finally, Ravenclaw.
00:26:35So, for my bit, when I make baby Norbert, I've got this really cool technique.
00:26:49I'm thinking I'm going to make his wings, but I'm going to make them out of edible skin.
00:26:53What I'm going to be doing is painting an underlayer of these wafer paper sheets.
00:26:58So, I'm just giving this a base coat of gelatin.
00:27:01And then, when this gelatin dries, it's going to look like skin.
00:27:04So, what I will do is sandwich his fingers inside two layers of paper.
00:27:10And then, what that's going to do is give the wing structure.
00:27:13So, it will look like the bone underneath the skin.
00:27:15And I'll be airbrushing it and dusting it and making it look even more realistic.
00:27:20Ooh.
00:27:22It feels good to be cooking.
00:27:23For the tasting element, we'll be making a buttermilk cake with a rhubarb and blood orange compote filling.
00:27:28And it will be right behind the eyes in the lion's forehead.
00:27:31So, I have our blood orange puree.
00:27:32I'm going to combine that with a little sugar or rhubarb, cook that down in a compote.
00:27:38I'm going a little bit savory with my rhubarb.
00:27:40So, there could be a little bit of an error in balance between that salty and that sweet.
00:27:47You know, I get in my head and I get really, you know, I'm nervous.
00:27:50And I'm like, what am I doing?
00:27:51It's intimidating.
00:27:52I mean, the whole thing is terrifying.
00:27:53I live in Nashville, Tennessee, and I'm the executive pastry chef at a hotel.
00:27:58I'm a little bit whimsical.
00:28:02I like to have fun.
00:28:03I'm a little bit cheeky.
00:28:05So, I think that that translates into my desserts.
00:28:07I'm from Michigan, Detroit Lions, love.
00:28:12I have owned my own bakery for 12 years, and we've always did these really big window displays.
00:28:18It took me a long time to find my own stride.
00:28:21And in my 40s now, it's time.
00:28:25Look out, world.
00:28:25I am going to probably work on the lion now.
00:28:30Okay.
00:28:31All right.
00:28:32Let's get it going.
00:28:34Now, I'm starting to shape the main so we can give it a lot of power and strength like Gryffindor House deserves.
00:28:42I think it looks really good.
00:28:45You're really fast at this.
00:28:46I'm so happy with it.
00:28:48Bigger is better and more is more.
00:28:50Absolutely.
00:28:52We're back for chapter two, back in our lovely kitchen.
00:28:5516 bakers at once in the kitchen, all working really, really hard.
00:29:00How exciting is that?
00:29:01I know.
00:29:02Over the course of this season, we're going to see challenges which are tougher than before.
00:29:07We're going to push these bakers as far as they can possibly go.
00:29:10I can't wait to see what the judges think of it.
00:29:12So, I know what I've noticed.
00:29:14There's a tribute to a lot of different characters in here, including Goblet of Fire's very own Cedric Diggory.
00:29:21Yes.
00:29:22Where's our tribute?
00:29:23Yeah.
00:29:24Have we just got to stand in a plinth?
00:29:26We didn't get a shirt.
00:29:27We'll do this.
00:29:30You're good like that.
00:29:31I'll take over, Shai.
00:29:35Kaylin, Jalisa.
00:29:36Hello.
00:29:36How are you today?
00:29:38It's definitely like hyperspeed that we're working in, but...
00:29:41So, what are you doing right now then, Kaylin?
00:29:42So, the bottom of our showpiece is a desk, so I am marbling fondant, basically three different colors, and what that does is, like, it makes wood grain striations, so then when I put it through the sheeter, it looks like this.
00:29:54That's hoist?
00:29:55Yeah.
00:29:56That's this.
00:29:57Wow.
00:29:58Which one of you girls is the biggest Potter fan here?
00:30:00That's definitely Kaylin.
00:30:01I almost burst into tears when I walked into the Great Hall.
00:30:05I've been a fan since I was, like, 11, so it feels like I kind of grew up with all of you guys, really.
00:30:09Oh, okay.
00:30:10I can, like, quote the movie and, like, do the voices and everything.
00:30:14The voices?
00:30:14Go on, do a voice.
00:30:15Where have you been?
00:30:17That was really good.
00:30:19Where have you been?
00:30:24Guys, we'll leave you to it.
00:30:25Thank you.
00:30:26See you soon.
00:30:30I'm making the Yuzu sponge, so we wanted it to be the Hufflepuff color, the yellow and black, so we've got the yellow of the sponge, and then I'm making a black sesame butter.
00:30:40Cream, and that's going to add, like, a really nutty, like, earthy kind of flavor.
00:30:44See, it's got multiple ends, and it's really giving me that sugar threadiness.
00:30:49I'll be doing a sesame nougatine as well, and that's going to add a little bit of crunch texture and color to our cake.
00:30:55This build is bigger and has more components than anything I've ever done before.
00:31:00It really needs to be a team effort.
00:31:03I've just got to be positive.
00:31:06I have some Sichuan buttons.
00:31:10Sichuan buttons are a kind of type of spice.
00:31:13It will be part of the rosemary and Sichuan button tasting almond.
00:31:18So I'm freezing with, like, nitrogen.
00:31:20So Sichuan buttons, they have this activated molecule, which is called hydroxyl-alpha-senshu.
00:31:26I'm short.
00:31:27And he works at...
00:31:28I'm short.
00:31:29My expertise is molecular gastronomy.
00:31:31I really have to use the goggles.
00:31:33I'm a chef, food designer, and professor at two universities and three different schools.
00:31:38In Portugal, Lisbon, I'm really trying to make my name as a mark and as a stamp for Portuguese gastronomy.
00:31:43Beautiful.
00:31:44That's it.
00:31:45Oh, I got the best formula.
00:31:46So the Sichuan, it's something really nice because it gives you a dynamic effect.
00:31:50It's going to feel like you're having electrical impulses in your tongue.
00:31:55Are you sure?
00:31:56Sure.
00:31:57Trust me.
00:31:58Oh, my gosh.
00:31:59I can't see my tongue now.
00:32:00What?
00:32:01Be careful.
00:32:02Try one each.
00:32:03They should probably sign something before.
00:32:05So we've got something which makes your tongue go to sleep.
00:32:20You're going to feel like...
00:32:21Whiskey.
00:32:22You're going to feel like electric sensation on your tongue.
00:32:25Okay, so I'm feeling like if you were to get a car battery and lick it, that's probably
00:32:29the best way I could describe it.
00:32:31I have never had anything like this before.
00:32:33It's magic.
00:32:34In my lungs.
00:32:35The chemicals, everything, yeah.
00:32:37Hey, Uncle.
00:32:38See you later, guys.
00:32:39I'll let you know if you're salivating too much.
00:32:46We're, like, starting the tasting element stuff.
00:32:48My instant thought is make matcha cake, right?
00:32:51It's green, obviously represents Slytherin.
00:32:54So I'm doing the lime curd right now and I'm also going to scale out the white chocolate
00:32:58whipped ganache.
00:32:59I'm not the biggest fan of matcha.
00:33:00Do you like matcha?
00:33:01I love matcha.
00:33:02That's why it was my first thought.
00:33:03I mean, we could have done pistachio cake, but...
00:33:05Right.
00:33:06Matcha is a flavor that can go very bitter very quickly and we don't want it to be too earthy.
00:33:12We just want to show a little bit of that bitterness to then get balanced with the lime.
00:33:17Right now, oh my God.
00:33:18Now I'm throwing myself off.
00:33:20Oh, God.
00:33:21What?
00:33:22Hey.
00:33:23Now I'm like, did I put six in here?
00:33:26Aw.
00:33:27So basically, I am building the cake right here.
00:33:32So for our Slytherin tasting element, we are creating the heart of dark magic.
00:33:37It's going to be a cardamom cake and then I'm going to add a cardamom Swiss meringue buttercream,
00:33:42a orange curd to add some tartness, some roasted salted pistachios and it's going to be topped off with some candied orange peel.
00:33:52Cardamom is a really popular flavor in my Indian culture.
00:33:56It's known for being really herbaceous.
00:33:59You know, it has some human powers and it's kind of magical and mysterious.
00:34:04I really want to win because I want to show the younger me that, you know, you did it.
00:34:08Growing up, when I used to watch all these cooking and baking shows, I never saw someone like me.
00:34:13So I really want to inspire everyone who's watching, who looks like me maybe, to follow their dream.
00:34:18See ya.
00:34:19Oh my gosh, that's so good.
00:34:23Snack time.
00:34:24Everybody get snacks.
00:34:28Hailing from Clermont, Florida, master chocolatier Katie is hyper-competitive
00:34:34and uses her knowledge and book smarts to always be top of the class.
00:34:42A fierce competitor, Jujar is Canada's luminary of achievement.
00:34:47His fearless creativity and bold flavors in baking have enabled his rise to international prominence.
00:34:54I'm so glad you're my teammate because we're both really, really driven and ambitious.
00:35:01We're going up the best of the best and we want to be the best of the best.
00:35:06You know what?
00:35:07What?
00:35:08We're on schedule.
00:35:09We're good.
00:35:10That looks delicious.
00:35:12Sponge is going in.
00:35:13Whipped ganache is going in.
00:35:14We're good, okay?
00:35:15Yeah, nice.
00:35:16So because I'm the pastry expert of the team, I am doing a stunning layered entremet.
00:35:19And what's that going to be is multiple layers of textures and flavors.
00:35:22Starting with a crunchy base with protein milk chocolate.
00:35:25Then we've got a milk chocolate custard, an incredible caramel sponge.
00:35:28We then have the most amazing chewy caramel, some crunchy pearls of chocolate, and finally a whipped ganache, which is what I'm making now.
00:35:35And that's going to be a pillow for the diadem to sit on top.
00:35:39I've got my whipped ganache.
00:35:40I'm going to pipe that in.
00:35:41We're then going to paint in all the detail to make sure the mold catches all of that detail.
00:35:45And then I've got my amazing layers to go inside the cake.
00:35:48We've selected a mold which is shaped just like this amazing pillow.
00:35:52And it's just the perfect platform to present the diadem.
00:35:56I grew up with cooking and food in my family.
00:35:59My grandmother was a celebrated chef and cookery author.
00:36:02So going into pastry was natural for me.
00:36:07It's exciting to be here representing sort of the family culinary spirit.
00:36:12Oh, yeah.
00:36:13We're going to make the Potterheads proud.
00:36:15Buttoned-up executive pastry chef Stefan looks after all the desserts at an exquisite English Yorkshire five-star hotel.
00:36:25His joyful, upbeat persona is reflected in everything he bakes.
00:36:31Arriving from New York, Andy is a creative whirlwind of imagination.
00:36:36He balances all his skills to deliver captivating creations.
00:36:41Will magic happen when their worlds collide?
00:36:45I think that, you know, two different sides of the world come together and make some cool stuff.
00:36:51You know, New Yorkshire.
00:36:57Our biggest risk from a construction standpoint is gravity.
00:37:01It's not Hague's friend.
00:37:03Before my very eyes, pieces of the lion's head are falling off.
00:37:07Ooh, this is a mess.
00:37:10I'm going to just have to be a lot more careful.
00:37:12It's a big problem.
00:37:14I mean, it's the focal point.
00:37:16It's got to be perfection.
00:37:17Gryffindor teams, three hours gone.
00:37:20You are halfway through your bank.
00:37:22Wait, what?
00:37:23Oh my God.
00:37:27I'm hoping with the amount of time we have left that it's a, it's saveable.
00:37:31So we're going to get to it and see what can happen.
00:37:34I used much more chocolate than it was expected, but the chocolate is doing its job and it's holding the rice cereal in its place.
00:37:41We haven't given up yet.
00:37:42We got time to rally.
00:37:44We're trying to blend that tall skinny tasting piece that we have into the face.
00:37:50So almost like a little frame.
00:37:52And we're just wanting to make sure that this all stays in its place.
00:37:56I'll definitely be trimming some of this away, but we just need to fill in those little gaps for now.
00:38:03We don't want our lion having a double chin.
00:38:06We're covering the face and fondant so it can be nice and rigid and solid.
00:38:11So happy with it.
00:38:12I couldn't be happier at the moment.
00:38:14Oh, she pretty.
00:38:16I just need one more egg.
00:38:19For our tasting element, we really wanted the flavor to encompass Ravenclaw.
00:38:24What do you do when you study?
00:38:25You have a nice hot cup of tea.
00:38:27But also we kind of wanted that to reflect Professor Trelawney because she does the tea leaves readings.
00:38:32So we are going for a London Fog inspired cake.
00:38:34It will be an Earl Grey cake with an Earl Grey milk soak that has a blueberry lavender jam
00:38:39with a vanilla and honey smithering buttercream.
00:38:42Dressed up as books.
00:38:43So I'm all about natural flavors.
00:38:44This is right up my alley for making a London Fog cake.
00:38:47So instead of using some weird like extract, I'm just going to put Earl Grey tea leaves
00:38:51and make the natural flavor in my cake.
00:38:53This smells so good, Jalisa.
00:38:55So once the cakes are out of the oven, I apply the milk soak while it's still warm.
00:38:58So this kind of helps reintroduce the Earl Grey flavor and also a little bit of sweetness.
00:39:03So the hole in the center is to fit through my armature in the bottom where the books are going to sit.
00:39:08So it's got to make a little hole for it so it can sit perfectly inside.
00:39:12Do you want to try the cake?
00:39:15Give me that.
00:39:18I definitely feel confident in us going far in this competition and winning.
00:39:23Oh, we're winning.
00:39:24Hold my butterbeer.
00:39:27We love Stefan and Andy, but they got to go.
00:39:32Jenny, Alex.
00:39:33Hey.
00:39:34Hello.
00:39:35What does it feel like to be in this kitchen in this competition right now?
00:39:39My mind is blown.
00:39:40I'm very warm.
00:39:41Yeah?
00:39:42But it's a bonkers experience, isn't it?
00:39:43Jenny, have you done this before then?
00:39:44I've done a show before.
00:39:45Do you remember last year's winner, Zoe?
00:39:46Yes.
00:39:47So I was on a show with her.
00:39:48Right.
00:39:49OK.
00:39:50OK.
00:39:51So it's her fault I'm here.
00:39:53She said to me, enjoy the ride.
00:39:54OK.
00:39:55You're going to be shattered.
00:39:56No question.
00:39:57No question.
00:39:58And what about other competitions?
00:39:59Well, yes.
00:40:00We have something in the UK called Cake International.
00:40:03And I may have won that in 2022.
00:40:06And then I was voted as the number one cake artist in the UK in 2023.
00:40:10So you're pretty good, that's what I'm guessing then.
00:40:12Yeah, I'm not bad.
00:40:13I'm British, we don't brag.
00:40:14Yeah, exactly, yeah.
00:40:16Is this the first type of bake that you've got to bake a dragon or anything like that?
00:40:20For me it is.
00:40:21Yeah.
00:40:22So I'm a bit nervous, to be honest.
00:40:23Yeah.
00:40:24So what are you doing to push yourselves?
00:40:25I just think we've got a winning concept.
00:40:26I think we've got a cracking idea.
00:40:28We've got some stupid sort of techniques that we're using.
00:40:31You know, for goodness sake, edible skin.
00:40:33We're making also a really super shiny Norbert's chocolate egg.
00:40:38Also some sugar rocks.
00:40:40And you will see, we have quite things going on here.
00:40:43I mean, his tasting element down the bottom with the egg is just bananas.
00:40:47It's not really bananas, but you know what I mean.
00:40:50So what are you doing now?
00:40:51So we're smoking the whipped cream.
00:40:53This is a smoked gun.
00:40:55I'm using walnut chips.
00:40:56Walnut chips, right?
00:40:57Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:40:58Oh, it is smoky.
00:40:59It is smoky, yeah.
00:41:00There you go.
00:41:01So it is coming inside.
00:41:02Smells like bonfire nut.
00:41:03Yeah.
00:41:04It sounds very unique.
00:41:06Bye, boys.
00:41:07See you later.
00:41:08I'm planning a meeting.
00:41:09And a small hazelnut nuts with a passion fruit cremeux.
00:41:12I'm just putting the passion fruit cremeux on top of the hazelnut cake.
00:41:17And I'm going to cover it with a narrow glaze.
00:41:20Oh, so the glaze is looking great.
00:41:22It's perfect.
00:41:23It's really shiny.
00:41:25Cool.
00:41:26Done.
00:41:27We are creating little baby mandrakes.
00:41:30I will trim all the layers for building up the instrument.
00:41:34And I will start assembling together with the mousse.
00:41:36And then I'm going to dip in chocolate.
00:41:38I'm making the belly of the baby mandrakes.
00:41:40They're chubby.
00:41:41They are.
00:41:42Although I do feel like they're always kind of angry.
00:41:45Big nose.
00:41:48It's going to be so whimsical.
00:41:50I'm now becoming a make-up artist.
00:41:54Molly, Priya.
00:41:55Hi.
00:41:56Hi.
00:41:57First time working as a team.
00:41:58How's it going?
00:41:59Yeah, it's going great.
00:42:00I love having a partner.
00:42:01I'm used to working on my own, so this is nice.
00:42:03What is all that cake for?
00:42:05This is the badger.
00:42:06Roughly, probably a life-size badger.
00:42:07They are quite big.
00:42:09How many badgers do you carve on average weekly, would you say?
00:42:13Not loads, but I have done them before.
00:42:15What context was that?
00:42:16Because I can't imagine there being that many...
00:42:18I think it was a plumbing company that were called badger plumbing.
00:42:21That's awesome.
00:42:23I've had my bakery for three years, and it's very pink.
00:42:28It's very fun.
00:42:29It's like...
00:42:30If a unicorn went into a bakery, that's what I would have.
00:42:33Molly, I've got to ask.
00:42:34Are you a quick carver like this normally, or...?
00:42:36Yeah.
00:42:37Not quite as sweaty and stressed, but yeah.
00:42:39All the best.
00:42:40We'll see you in there soon.
00:42:41Thank you.
00:42:43Right now I'm unmoulding the basilisk head that I cast
00:42:47out of chocolate.
00:42:49Oh!
00:42:50Okay!
00:42:51Look at that.
00:42:52That's perfect.
00:42:53That's beautiful.
00:42:54Okay, so now I have a base, so I'm gonna make the body and attach it to the head
00:42:56and build off of that.
00:42:59Now I'm an official dentist.
00:43:04Okay, I feel a lot better now that that's done.
00:43:06That's awesome.
00:43:07Perfect.
00:43:08Perfect.
00:43:09Perfect.
00:43:10I am an assistant pastry chef.
00:43:13I specialize in doing a lot of chocolate and sugar work.
00:43:19My wheelhouse is artistry, honestly.
00:43:22I'm a cake artist, but I've always drawn and sculpted.
00:43:27Our love for pastry and artistry in general really connects us.
00:43:31I feel like all of us here are artists and our art is edible.
00:43:36I like that.
00:43:38With Voldemort's cloak to make it dramatic, we want to really impress the judges.
00:43:42You know, I want this to look really organic and I want the entire cloak all moving in one direction.
00:43:47And Voldemort's cloak will be airbrushed in an emerald green color.
00:43:52I gotta add some shine, I gotta add some highlights.
00:43:55That's really gonna bring this piece to life.
00:43:58Stunning.
00:43:59It's perfect.
00:44:01Caitlin, look.
00:44:02Look, Voldemort.
00:44:04That's cool, dude.
00:44:05I look so good.
00:44:07Hi, Caitlin. How are you?
00:44:08Love you.
00:44:12I am painting some blue wafer paper black with glycerin and gel color.
00:44:16It's gonna soften it and I'll be able to cut all of my feathers for the raven out.
00:44:21I'm gonna do individual feathers.
00:44:23I honestly didn't think this would take this long, so I'm a little behind.
00:44:27I did not want to be still doing this at this point, but here we are.
00:44:31The most important part of our showpiece is our mascot.
00:44:34And because Caitlin has such strength in hyper-realism, she's definitely gonna take lead on that.
00:44:40These are sticking together.
00:44:41Huh?
00:44:42These are sticking together.
00:44:44My feathers completely didn't work.
00:44:47I don't know if I added too much glycerin or the water completely dissolved it,
00:44:51but they're so flimsy.
00:44:53It falls apart and the other ones are sticking to the tray.
00:44:56So, okay, this is definitely not how I thought today.
00:44:59It was gonna be untumbled real quick.
00:45:03I wasted an hour for no reason and now I don't know what to do.
00:45:06It really sucks.
00:45:07These are sticking together.
00:45:11Huh?
00:45:12These are sticking together.
00:45:13My feathers completely didn't work.
00:45:16Okay, full pivot.
00:45:17I'm just gonna have to do white and airbrush it.
00:45:19Yeah.
00:45:20I mean, it's not gonna be black black, but it'll be...
00:45:22Black enough.
00:45:23Yeah.
00:45:24So, I have to fix my feathers.
00:45:25I'm just gonna cut all the feathers and individually airbrush them.
00:45:28The airbrushing's working.
00:45:29Okay.
00:45:30Now it looks good.
00:45:31This is the last thing I wanted to do.
00:45:33Before, I was cool as a cucumber.
00:45:36But now I am having full crash out moment.
00:45:39I am feeling behind, but as soon as I can get these feathers on this last wing,
00:45:43I can start moving rather quickly.
00:45:45You know, famous last words.
00:45:47Julie, so we cannot go home.
00:45:48You know, we're not going home.
00:45:50So now I'm starting to build the body of my raven, so I just wanna get the body set and
00:45:57covered in ganache so that I can start sculpting it.
00:46:01I do wanna spend a lot of time on making sure this raven looks 100%.
00:46:06I'm using modeling chocolate just to model the beak, the eyes, and get all that feather
00:46:12work in the face area.
00:46:14I think I'm on the right track.
00:46:16To create these feathers, I'm taking tempered chocolate.
00:46:19We have hundreds of feathers to make and then to stick onto the wings.
00:46:23And we're kind of getting to a stage where we're a little bit worried if we can actually
00:46:26do it.
00:46:27And I need to start working on Hagrid.
00:46:30This is black modeling paste.
00:46:31This is where I'm gonna be attaching all the sparkly lights when Norbert fires his burp
00:46:36at his beard.
00:46:37I'm gonna do his face up the top, but just his nose and his goggles.
00:46:42A really big bushy beard.
00:46:44It's actually edible corn silk.
00:46:46I'm quite happy, actually.
00:46:47Oh, that's perfect.
00:46:48So I'm gonna add some more detail.
00:46:52I love it.
00:46:53Our show piece was really a celebration of earth and growth.
00:46:57And so we'll have mushrooms and snails and slugs.
00:47:01Oh, I love those guys.
00:47:03Cute.
00:47:04So cute.
00:47:05I'm making the snails made from textured fondant and modeling paste.
00:47:09I'm really obsessed with color and making sure things visually look balanced.
00:47:14Woo!
00:47:15Great.
00:47:16Ravenclaw teams, you still have two hours to go.
00:47:20Slithering teams, there's 90 minutes left in the slithering jewel.
00:47:24Ah!
00:47:25Ow!
00:47:26Hey.
00:47:27Wow, we gotta hustle.
00:47:28I have to pour this boiling hot isomalt onto the spiral.
00:47:33Here we go.
00:47:34Water is our magical element.
00:47:36So this is a cascading swirl going upwards looking like water.
00:47:39And I'll use a couple mediums of isomalt.
00:47:41Some pulled, some ribboning, and then some spun sugar.
00:47:45It's a little dangerous, truthfully.
00:47:47We haven't tested it.
00:47:48We don't know.
00:47:49I've never poured spiral isomalt.
00:47:50It's kind of insane, yeah, because this whole show piece can just all fall apart.
00:47:55Looks good.
00:47:56Like, it looks like water.
00:47:57Okay.
00:47:59Stefan, Andy, how are you guys finding working together?
00:48:02So far it's been awesome working with Andy and we're having fun.
00:48:05How much of a Potter fan are you then, Stefan?
00:48:07Well, yeah, I love the Harry Potter movies, but I've got an interesting connection.
00:48:10We actually shared a scene together in the first movie.
00:48:13Yeah.
00:48:14I was stood in the background, yeah, and they recruited the extras from the locals from the area.
00:48:18Our job is to make sure that you don't get bloodied up too bad.
00:48:22Can't make any promises, of course.
00:48:24Yeah, that scene was actually the first scene that we had dialogue.
00:48:27Oh, seriously?
00:48:28Oh, wow, that's your first dialogue scene.
00:48:29Yeah, that scene.
00:48:30What scene were you in in Harry Potter?
00:48:31Um...
00:48:32Oh, you know.
00:48:33Because everyone at this table has been, you see, so...
00:48:35But at least you can say you filmed in the Great Hall now.
00:48:37Right? Exactly.
00:48:38Let's go.
00:48:43Don't like that.
00:48:44I am freaking out because I've lost all this time with the feathers,
00:48:48and now I am completely hand sculpting the body of this raven.
00:48:51I grab my black modeling chocolate, I just kind of, like, lump it on.
00:48:55I don't care. I don't care.
00:48:57And I'm basically just going triple time, slashing away at the body and the head,
00:49:02and making these little striations to make it look like it's got its fur and its feathers.
00:49:07I took my aggravation out on it.
00:49:10Chalisa, I feel like I'm going to puke.
00:49:13Don't puke.
00:49:14Gryffindor teams, one hour to go.
00:49:17Hashtag newbie problems.
00:49:21Gryffindor teams, one hour to go.
00:49:22Gryffindor teams, one hour to go.
00:49:23Oh my gosh.
00:49:24Oh my gosh.
00:49:25Ahhhh.
00:49:26Oh my gosh.
00:49:27Ahhhh.
00:49:28Hi, judges.
00:49:29Oh.
00:49:30Did someone say we're making a sequel?
00:49:32Bakers, I'd like you to meet your judges.
00:49:33Hello.
00:49:34Hi.
00:49:35Hello, bakers.
00:49:36Hello, bakers.
00:49:37Hello, bakers.
00:49:38Hi.
00:49:39¡Bakers! ¡I'd like you to meet your judges!
00:49:41¡Hello! ¡Hola, bakers! ¡Hola, bakers! ¡Hola, bakers! ¡Hola!
00:49:48Carla and Joseph, oh my gosh, I am just, I don't know, I don't know how to feel.
00:49:53I'm sweaty, I'm shaky.
00:49:54So how's it working out on this first challenge? ¿You excited?
00:49:58¡Yes! ¡Excited!
00:50:00¡Well, good!
00:50:02So we just dropped by to wish you some good luck
00:50:05and to let you know, all season long we'll be judging your cakes on story, execution, and taste.
00:50:12And we also have some news.
00:50:15Oh, boy.
00:50:16This challenge is all about your four head-to-head duels.
00:50:22If you win yours, you're through to the next round.
00:50:25But if you don't, Joseph and I can only save two losing teams.
00:50:36Wow.
00:50:38That means two teams will be leaving the competition.
00:50:44Oh, boy.
00:50:45We're going to leave you to think about that,
00:50:47but rest assured, we can't wait to taste your Hogwarts house creations.
00:50:54So we'll see you all in the great hall.
00:50:57See you there.
00:50:59The judges dropped a bit of a bombshell.
00:51:02Oh, my gosh.
00:51:02My guts are like, ugh.
00:51:04I feel like I might pass out or throw up right now.
00:51:07Can I go somewhere else?
00:51:08I panic a little bit.
00:51:11There's so much pressure.
00:51:12Gryffindor teams, you have 30 minutes left.
00:51:24Oh.
00:51:25I feel a lot better.
00:51:27Thank you very much.
00:51:29It's my first time ever competing like this.
00:51:31And it's scary to put yourself out there,
00:51:33but you kind of put on a brave face and you get it done,
00:51:36just like true Gryffindors do.
00:51:39Going to make it happen.
00:51:42Wow, come on.
00:51:44Can I ever tell you I'm not very delicate?
00:51:46Yes, several times.
00:51:48Careful with those.
00:51:49Yeah.
00:51:50We're making a little stack of textbooks
00:51:52that'll go next to the lion head.
00:51:54So just cutting them to size.
00:51:56We've packed as much detail as we can into it
00:51:58while working up against the clock.
00:52:00We're going to make the scarf happen.
00:52:02Just giving it that knit feel.
00:52:05At the moment, I'm considering fainting.
00:52:07Don't.
00:52:08No, I'm really seriously not very good.
00:52:09OK, Gryffindor house teams.
00:52:13Arresto momentum.
00:52:15Time is up.
00:52:17Heather and Kate, Jenny and Alex,
00:52:20grab what you can,
00:52:21and our house elves will help with the rest.
00:52:24When you get to the Great Hall,
00:52:26you'll have just five minutes to assemble your bakes,
00:52:30ready to cast a spell on our judges.
00:52:33Look at this.
00:52:34There's a little bit of anxiety.
00:52:36Will the judges like it?
00:52:37Could we have done more?
00:52:40It's all looking gorgeous.
00:52:42Don't worry.
00:52:43Don't panic.
00:52:44I'm not panicking.
00:52:46Are you panicking?
00:52:47No, darling.
00:52:47Hello, Gryffindor teams.
00:53:03It's simple.
00:53:04Our winning team from this duel
00:53:06will move safely through to the next challenge.
00:53:09The other team will be in danger
00:53:14of having their journey end
00:53:16before it really begins.
00:53:20It's Norbit.
00:53:22It's Norbit's mummy.
00:53:25Norbit's mummy.
00:53:27You've even got his oven mitts in there.
00:53:29I love the textures that you have throughout,
00:53:32especially on the beard there.
00:53:33Oh, it looks really good.
00:53:34Oh, I get this.
00:53:39You can turn the lights in.
00:53:40Oh, my God.
00:53:41It is so important when he burps.
00:53:44That's a great part of the story to it.
00:53:46Thank you.
00:53:46Thank you so much.
00:53:48Let's move on to the execution.
00:53:50I love the colors.
00:53:51Lovely sheen on that chocolate.
00:53:53I mean, that looks, that's tempering at its best.
00:53:56I think you guys did a great job.
00:53:58Thank you.
00:53:59Now, it's time for taste.
00:54:01Oh, okay.
00:54:02So, I'm just gonna...
00:54:04Take this one out.
00:54:07There you go.
00:54:09Here we go.
00:54:10There you go.
00:54:11Thank you.
00:54:11Enjoy.
00:54:12You're welcome.
00:54:12Enjoy.
00:54:13I love the little dragon.
00:54:15I love the mirror glaze.
00:54:16The mirror glaze is beautiful.
00:54:17Very nicely done.
00:54:18Okay, so we decided to make a smoked hazelnut mousse.
00:54:21It is like if baby Norbert's finish the dessert, you know?
00:54:25I love it.
00:54:26And I decided to make a passion fruit creme.
00:54:29And also, we have this amazing roasted hazelnut cake.
00:54:33I'm like this, I'm like this, I'm like this.
00:54:35I really like the flavors.
00:54:37And the smokiness?
00:54:39Lost.
00:54:40Oh.
00:54:41To me.
00:54:41I think it's perfect.
00:54:43Only because if it was too much smoke, it would blow everything out.
00:54:46You guys have such a nice balance.
00:54:48Your flavor profiles that you've got, I think they're wonderful.
00:54:51Thank you so much.
00:54:52Thank you.
00:54:55Wow.
00:54:56Courage.
00:54:58Oh, that's cool.
00:54:59That brings it to life, doesn't it?
00:55:00Yeah, it really does.
00:55:01Yeah.
00:55:02All the kind of main symbols and emblems of it.
00:55:05You've got the lion.
00:55:06You've got the scarf there.
00:55:07You've got the sword of Gryffindor.
00:55:10So what do we think of the storytelling here, Carla?
00:55:12I like it.
00:55:13Gryffindor traits of courage, determination, bravery.
00:55:17I mean, nothing embodies this more than this.
00:55:21Thank you.
00:55:22It's beautiful.
00:55:23I think you'd make Godric Gryffindor proud with this piece.
00:55:27Let's talk about execution.
00:55:28I love the coloring.
00:55:30The texture on the fabric of the scarf, the texture and the detailing on the spines of the books.
00:55:37Everything is really beautifully executed.
00:55:40Thank you.
00:55:41Talk to us about your tasting element.
00:55:44It's Satsi cutting in such a magnificent beast.
00:55:47I'm so sorry.
00:55:49So our tasting element involves a rhubarb and blood orange compote paired with a honey crema.
00:55:55Thank you.
00:55:56Thank you.
00:55:56Some white chocolate milk crumb just for a little bit of crunch and a buttermilk cake.
00:56:01Oh.
00:56:05My kneecaps are quivering.
00:56:08I think the rhubarb and blood orange is a very nice acidity.
00:56:12I think maybe another layer of the blood orange.
00:56:15Yes.
00:56:16You have white chocolate.
00:56:17You have honey.
00:56:18You have all of those sort of creamy, sweet notes.
00:56:22And then that would just balance it out.
00:56:24I like this cake.
00:56:25Thank you.
00:56:26Look, it's good.
00:56:28But good is the enemy of grace, as they say.
00:56:32Thank you very much.
00:56:33Thank you, ladies.
00:56:33Thank you.
00:56:34Appreciate it.
00:56:37Two great Gryffindor showpieces, but there can only be one winner.
00:56:42We've decided the victorious Gryffindor team in this duel, safely through to the next round
00:56:53of this competition, are Jenny and Alex.
00:57:03Congratulations, man.
00:57:06You are safe from elimination.
00:57:09Well done.
00:57:10Well done.
00:57:11We won.
00:57:12That's what happened.
00:57:13We won.
00:57:16But what that does mean, Heather and Kate, your place is at risk.
00:57:23We'll see you back here once we've judged all of the duels.
00:57:28Thank you.
00:57:28Thank you.
00:57:29I feel a little bit like I let Heather down because I'm kind of the flavor person here.
00:57:34And it could be the thing that sends us home, or it could be the thing that sends us on to
00:57:37the next challenge.
00:57:38This is a great start, and I can't wait to see what's next.
00:57:41Yeah.
00:57:45One hour to go, Slytherin teams.
00:57:47Oh, my God.
00:57:48Ooh.
00:57:50Hustle.
00:57:51Hustle puffs.
00:57:52You have 30 minutes remaining.
00:57:54You have 30 minutes remaining.
00:57:54Detail, detail, detail.
00:57:56I need to finish this face.
00:57:57The airbrushing takes it to another level.
00:57:59Sometimes if you add a little bit of black shading or dark brown, it gives it another element
00:58:05of realism.
00:58:06This is intense baking, and time is slipping away.
00:58:11Okay.
00:58:12Hufflepuff teams.
00:58:13Five minutes to go.
00:58:14Where do you want the pots?
00:58:15Great.
00:58:16I do one full, and then one lay down.
00:58:18You don't want it all mixed, right?
00:58:19Just a little bit.
00:58:20Hufflepuffs.
00:58:21Time is up.
00:58:22It's gorgeous.
00:58:23Yeah, it's gorgeous.
00:58:24We found it.
00:58:25We did it!
00:58:29I think we did a great job.
00:58:30It's nice and clean.
00:58:31The little main jerks are beautiful with the big bellies.
00:58:32All the elements are there.
00:58:33We feel great.
00:58:34We're done, and that's a huge relief.
00:58:36I hope they see how much work and technique and skill has gone into it.
00:58:53Hello.
00:58:54Wow.
00:58:55Look at all of them.
00:58:56Wow.
00:58:57I mean.
00:58:58That looks like straight-up taxidermy.
00:58:59I mean, the snail, it looks nice and wet, like its leaves, its slime.
00:59:04Anywhere else, that wouldn't be a great compliment, but...
00:59:05Uh-huh.
00:59:06You're loving the slugs, aren't you?
00:59:07I'm loving the greenhouse.
00:59:08I think the story, incredible.
00:59:09You didn't need to say a word.
00:59:10We got it.
00:59:11Yeah.
00:59:12You look at this, and you know what house this is representing.
00:59:13Yes.
00:59:14I think execution.
00:59:15Everything is amazing.
00:59:16I think it's amazing.
00:59:17It's amazing.
00:59:18It's amazing.
00:59:19It's amazing.
00:59:20It's amazing.
00:59:21It's amazing.
00:59:22It's amazing.
00:59:23It's amazing.
00:59:24It's amazing.
00:59:25I think execution.
00:59:27Everything is executed beautifully.
00:59:28Thank you.
00:59:29The texture.
00:59:30I mean, it feels like...
00:59:31And the eyes.
00:59:32The eyes.
00:59:33The eyes.
00:59:34Look at that.
00:59:35No, but the devil is in the detail.
00:59:36That's incredible.
00:59:37Thank you.
00:59:38Really.
00:59:39And you've certainly delivered on the house elements of earth.
00:59:41You really have.
00:59:42And then we've got some, um, growth coming from the earth as well.
00:59:47Growth.
00:59:48Growth.
00:59:49Oh.
00:59:50Oh.
00:59:51Oh.
00:59:52Here we go.
00:59:53Oh.
00:59:54Oh.
00:59:55So what is the tasting element?
00:59:57So for our tasting element today, we're doing a black sesame and yuzu cake.
01:00:02Oh.
01:00:03You got a slug.
01:00:04Oh.
01:00:05Oh.
01:00:06I love it.
01:00:07We've done the sponge yellow and then we've got a sesame nougatine in there, a yuzu curd.
01:00:12The acidity of the yuzu is perfect.
01:00:19Black sesame overpowers a little.
01:00:21The sesame nougatine is really nice.
01:00:23I don't know if the balance was there.
01:00:25Okay.
01:00:26All right.
01:00:27Thank you so much.
01:00:28Thank you.
01:00:29Wow.
01:00:30We know what this is.
01:00:31Oh.
01:00:32My gosh.
01:00:33This is one of the most iconic plants.
01:00:35Absolutely.
01:00:36You know.
01:00:37You know exactly where this is from.
01:00:38You know exactly what you're trying to say with it.
01:00:41From a story point of view, you've definitely nailed it.
01:00:44Thank you.
01:00:45The detailing looks incredible on this.
01:00:48I love the leaves.
01:00:49I love the mandrakes themselves.
01:00:50All of the different faces.
01:00:51Full of character.
01:00:52And we've got the Hufflepuff colors.
01:00:53Oh, yes.
01:00:54Don't forget.
01:00:55I think just to be safe, you guys should probably put this on.
01:00:56Okay.
01:00:57Ooh.
01:00:58It's so interactive.
01:00:59You look cute though.
01:01:00Oh, my God.
01:01:01Oh.
01:01:02Oh.
01:01:03Oh.
01:01:04Oh.
01:01:05Oh.
01:01:06Oh.
01:01:07Oh.
01:01:08Oh.
01:01:09Oh.
01:01:10Oh.
01:01:11Oh.
01:01:12Oh.
01:01:13Oh.
01:01:14Oh.
01:01:15Oh.
01:01:16Oh.
01:01:17Oh.
01:01:18Oh.
01:01:19Oh.
01:01:20Oh, it's moving.
01:01:26Love it.
01:01:27Oh.
01:01:28Oh, my gosh.
01:01:29Fantastic.
01:01:30I love it.
01:01:31I love the movement up and down.
01:01:32I love the mouth.
01:01:33Now, execution, I think it's great.
01:01:35All right.
01:01:36So, let's taste it.
01:01:37Well, first of all, I would like to say a huge honor to be judged by Chef Joseph because
01:01:43it's been over a decade that I follow your work.
01:01:45Thank you.
01:01:46I know this multi-sensory experience.
01:01:47So, we use the Sishan Peppers, which has like this namby effect in our tongue.
01:01:52So, we did the white chocolate mousse with the coriander seeds.
01:01:58Angel did an amazing toffee caramel with Sishan Peppers.
01:02:01Y luego hay un layer de paté-fri con peor y fennel.
01:02:06Y el cake es soaked en whisky sirup.
01:02:09No, estoy en un poco de zing.
01:02:11Estoy.
01:02:30¿Y no salivar?
01:02:32I am salivar.
01:02:33¿Qué es un buen dessert si no me salivar?
01:02:36Estamos literalmente salivando,
01:02:38wanting that next bite.
01:02:40Carla, look at me tucking away into it
01:02:43con mi tongue numbingly salivando.
01:02:48Sí, esto es un experiencia
01:02:50que no se les dañe.
01:02:52Es increíble.
01:02:52Adiós.
01:02:53Gracias.
01:03:00Adiós.
01:03:02There can only be one winner.
01:03:12The team moving on in the competition
01:03:15is Ruin Angel.
01:03:27Molly and Priya,
01:03:29it's lucky that patience is a Hufflepuff trait
01:03:32because you won't find out your fate
01:03:35until a little later.
01:03:36We'll see you at the elimination.
01:03:40We're not going to go home.
01:03:41I just, I'm quietly confident.
01:03:44Is that Jinx in it?
01:03:50Okay, so we're down to our final four teams.
01:03:54Slytherin teams,
01:03:55we have 30 minutes left for you.
01:03:58Ooh.
01:03:59Marge, what do you think about something like this
01:04:01for the Fang?
01:04:02That's amazing.
01:04:04The judges will take the basilisk fang
01:04:06and stab Tom Riddle's diary,
01:04:09which will then ooze red ink.
01:04:11I'm going to fill up
01:04:11a little water balloon with it.
01:04:14And then I'm going to practice poking it
01:04:16with an X-Acto knife.
01:04:18All right, Marge.
01:04:19Oh, that's nasty.
01:04:21Yeah, that's a good consistency.
01:04:23Does this look like a good size
01:04:24for the Tom Riddle diary?
01:04:26Yeah.
01:04:26We're going to, you know, carve it out.
01:04:28As long as there's room
01:04:29for that balloon in there.
01:04:30For sure.
01:04:30We need to get our isomalt spiral on.
01:04:33And now both of us have to
01:04:34get this entire spiral of our piece.
01:04:37And this is the hardest thing.
01:04:39What if it's the wrong size?
01:04:40What if it doesn't fit?
01:04:41We didn't even know.
01:04:43Yeah.
01:04:43Oh, my God.
01:04:45Please, please, please,
01:04:47please don't crack.
01:04:48Please don't crack.
01:04:48I'm like, I'm so nervous.
01:04:50My heart, I'm sweating.
01:04:52I'm good, I'm good, I'm good.
01:04:53Oh, my gosh.
01:04:55Nearly everything can
01:04:56all shatter into pieces.
01:04:58The spiral can nick into Voldemort.
01:05:01It turns slowly going down.
01:05:02Clearing the elbow.
01:05:03Other arm.
01:05:06I hear the crack.
01:05:07Oh, okay.
01:05:08Here goes a piece.
01:05:09It's okay, I'm spinning.
01:05:11Okay.
01:05:12And it's down.
01:05:14How does that side look?
01:05:15It's good.
01:05:16We did it.
01:05:17It didn't break.
01:05:17It didn't break.
01:05:20Okay, Slytherin teams.
01:05:22Are you all right, mate?
01:05:29Yeah, I'm just telling Slytherin
01:05:30they've got 10 minutes left.
01:05:31You know, passing time.
01:05:35Okay, we're almost there.
01:05:38The clock is winding down,
01:05:40so as a team,
01:05:41we really have to prioritize.
01:05:43Not my best work,
01:05:44but diary is done.
01:05:47This piece is pretty ambitious.
01:05:48Basically three different levels,
01:05:50but at this point,
01:05:52we have to sacrifice things
01:05:53like details.
01:05:55For the sake of time,
01:05:56I'm just going to do
01:05:57two different shades of green
01:05:58for the stalagmites.
01:06:01You're good, Marge.
01:06:01You got this.
01:06:02You got this.
01:06:03I believe in you.
01:06:04Don't break.
01:06:04Don't break.
01:06:05Stay there.
01:06:06Stay like this.
01:06:07Okay, Slytherin teams.
01:06:09Six, five, four, three, two, one.
01:06:14A resto momentum.
01:06:16Your time is up.
01:06:17Oh, Marge.
01:06:21That was madness.
01:06:23Oh, my gosh.
01:06:24We did it.
01:06:25We did it.
01:06:25Jajah and Katie.
01:06:27Yes.
01:06:28Marge and Sarah,
01:06:29it's time to present
01:06:31your superb showpieces.
01:06:33This is such an ambitious piece,
01:06:43but I think I really showed
01:06:44the judges that we are here
01:06:46to compete at the top level.
01:06:50We thought our showpiece
01:06:52is going to be tall,
01:06:53but I'm seeing even larger
01:06:55than life on the other side
01:06:56of the room.
01:06:57I'm very nervous.
01:06:58You're good, Marge.
01:06:59Breathe.
01:06:59Breathe.
01:07:00Tell me, I gotcha.
01:07:07Well, if it isn't
01:07:08the bad boys and girls
01:07:09of baking,
01:07:11the Slytherin teams.
01:07:13It's time to judge
01:07:14your head-to-head duel.
01:07:16Oh, my God.
01:07:17Marge and Sarah.
01:07:21All right.
01:07:21I'm interested in what
01:07:22you think about this
01:07:23because you are
01:07:24a fellow Slytherin.
01:07:25Well, I am, yeah.
01:07:26We're on home turf here.
01:07:27So this is obviously
01:07:28the Chamber of Secrets
01:07:29at the bottom.
01:07:30It's got some lovely details,
01:07:31even though you've got
01:07:32the Basilisk Fang there
01:07:33and Tom Riddle's diary.
01:07:35So if you have the urge
01:07:38to stab it
01:07:39with our Basilisk Fang,
01:07:40I'm not going to say no.
01:07:42Oh, wow.
01:07:42Yeah, be careful with it.
01:07:44Yeah.
01:07:44Oh, okay.
01:07:45Here we go.
01:07:45There we go.
01:07:49Oh, okay, the water
01:07:51is bubbling up.
01:07:52I like dark things,
01:07:53so I think that's
01:07:53a really, really cool effect.
01:07:55Look, story-wise,
01:07:57I love that you guys
01:07:57have transported us
01:07:58to somewhere,
01:07:59but do I feel you've
01:08:00necessarily told us
01:08:01a story with it?
01:08:02I don't know.
01:08:03Yeah, I agree.
01:08:04In terms of execution,
01:08:05I thought the bubbling
01:08:06of the water,
01:08:07the color, the smoke,
01:08:09Tom Riddle's diary
01:08:10looks really great.
01:08:11I would have liked
01:08:12more stalagmites,
01:08:13stalactites around.
01:08:15I just think sometimes
01:08:17the little finishing details,
01:08:18that is what really
01:08:19takes something
01:08:20from being a nice piece
01:08:22to an incredible showpiece.
01:08:24But now I think
01:08:25what we need to do
01:08:25is try the tasting element.
01:08:27Well, let me ask you this.
01:08:28So, do we need
01:08:29to speak Parseltongue,
01:08:31or maybe you do,
01:08:31to actually get
01:08:32some of the cake?
01:08:33I would love to hear it.
01:08:35There we go.
01:08:40Not bad.
01:08:41That was great.
01:08:42That was great.
01:08:42Well, it didn't work.
01:08:44Well, I didn't say
01:08:44I was fluking.
01:08:47So, we made
01:08:48a matcha cake
01:08:50with a lime curd
01:08:51and a white chocolate
01:08:52whipped ganache
01:08:53with some ginger
01:08:54toffee pieces.
01:08:55That's a real
01:08:56slithering green
01:08:57there for you,
01:08:58isn't it?
01:09:00Oh, my gosh.
01:09:04That's good, right?
01:09:06My face doesn't lie.
01:09:08I think that
01:09:09the ratio of cream
01:09:11to cake
01:09:11is perfect.
01:09:13The matcha,
01:09:13you hit the nail
01:09:14on the head.
01:09:15I would get
01:09:16a doggy bag of this.
01:09:17Oh, thank you.
01:09:17Oh, my God.
01:09:22Jujar and Katie.
01:09:24The Order of the Phoenix,
01:09:25this is, I'm guessing,
01:09:26a final battle
01:09:27between Voldemort
01:09:28and Dumbledore.
01:09:29It is.
01:09:30Stuff of legends.
01:09:31Yeah, you definitely
01:09:32tell the story.
01:09:33The movement
01:09:34of this piece.
01:09:34Yeah, you have
01:09:35a great sense
01:09:35of motion in this.
01:09:36And I love the way
01:09:37you kind of represented
01:09:38the water.
01:09:39You've done several
01:09:39different textures
01:09:40to build that up
01:09:41as opposed to just
01:09:41having one isomalt.
01:09:43That's really cool.
01:09:44Thank you.
01:09:44Looks great.
01:09:45I mean, really great
01:09:46on execution.
01:09:47Thank you.
01:09:47Let's move on to taste.
01:09:49We're calling this
01:09:50the heart of the dark magic.
01:09:52Oh, I like that.
01:09:54We did a cardamom cake.
01:09:57It has a cardamom
01:09:58simple syrup,
01:09:59an orange curd,
01:10:00cardamom Swiss meringue
01:10:01buttercream,
01:10:02candied oranges,
01:10:03and some salted pistachios.
01:10:07I've never had
01:10:08a cardamom cake before.
01:10:10I think that's brilliant.
01:10:12I like the zing
01:10:14of the citrus.
01:10:15I really like
01:10:16the salted pistachios.
01:10:17But I kind of feel
01:10:18they could be
01:10:18a bit crunchier.
01:10:20Okay, so,
01:10:21oh, well,
01:10:22do you like it, Carla?
01:10:23What the fuck they say?
01:10:25All of the flavors
01:10:27work.
01:10:28The crumb of the cake
01:10:29is so good.
01:10:32Thank you.
01:10:33Thank you, guys.
01:10:38The team that's come out
01:10:41on top
01:10:42in this duel
01:10:43is...
01:10:45Jujar and K2.
01:10:50Thank you.
01:10:52Good job.
01:10:52I'm so relieved.
01:10:54There's so much work
01:10:55that went into this piece
01:10:56and it feels like
01:10:56the longest day ever,
01:10:58but we wanted it
01:10:58very, very much.
01:10:59Good job, guys.
01:11:00Good job.
01:11:00Marge and Sarah.
01:11:03Unfortunately,
01:11:04that puts you
01:11:05in our bottom
01:11:06four teams
01:11:08and we
01:11:09can only save two.
01:11:11So you're in
01:11:11for a bit
01:11:12of a nervous wait.
01:11:13I am trying
01:11:14to stay positive.
01:11:15You never know
01:11:16what's going to happen.
01:11:20Ravenclaw teams,
01:11:22you are our final duel.
01:11:25Right, so diadems
01:11:25are done.
01:11:26Wonderful.
01:11:27Just 30 minutes
01:11:28left, Ravenclaws.
01:11:30I'm making sure
01:11:30I don't spell
01:11:31anything wrong.
01:11:32One of the last things
01:11:34is the handwriting
01:11:34and calligraphy
01:11:35on the individual pages
01:11:36of our book,
01:11:37which will be the riddle.
01:11:39I really need
01:11:39to get started
01:11:40on sculpting
01:11:41the rest of the books.
01:11:42I'm very stressed out
01:11:43and I wasted
01:11:44a lot of time.
01:11:45I'm not happy.
01:11:47This is definitely
01:11:47not how I wanted
01:11:48this to go.
01:11:49I mean, honestly,
01:11:50we're running out of time.
01:11:51Breathe.
01:11:52Breathe.
01:11:54We want to make sure
01:11:55we incorporate
01:11:55a lot of air
01:11:56because that's our element.
01:11:57So this is supposed
01:11:58to be our magical gust.
01:11:59So first I get
01:12:00some modeling chocolate
01:12:01and I start to marble
01:12:02it slightly
01:12:03to give it more dimension.
01:12:04I'm going for like
01:12:05light and airy.
01:12:06And I start to put it
01:12:07on my showpiece.
01:12:08Okay, okay, okay.
01:12:10Every time I put it on,
01:12:11it just keeps falling.
01:12:12And it keeps falling
01:12:12and it keeps falling.
01:12:14It was very, very frustrating.
01:12:15Just stick a little bit.
01:12:18The fact that I'm doing
01:12:19this over and over
01:12:20and over is making me lose it.
01:12:22Oh my God.
01:12:23And I'm trying to like
01:12:25keep my cool,
01:12:26but I'm like,
01:12:26if this does not stick,
01:12:27it's not going to look
01:12:28like anything.
01:12:28It'll be an empty tube.
01:12:31It's totally fine.
01:12:36Okay, the best technique
01:12:38to get it on
01:12:38is to get a hot gun
01:12:39or a heat gun
01:12:40and heat up the modeling chocolate
01:12:41because chocolate melts, right?
01:12:43So now that it's soft,
01:12:44it sticks.
01:12:45Is it working better?
01:12:47Yeah, I got to pinch it
01:12:48on the edge.
01:12:49But we need to also
01:12:50remember time.
01:12:51So I'm just pushing stuff on.
01:12:53It was just like,
01:12:54I'm not happy
01:12:56with how the guts came out
01:12:57because some parts
01:12:57could have definitely
01:12:58been smoother than others.
01:12:59When you do this at home,
01:13:01it's like you've planned
01:13:02for weeks.
01:13:02You take your time
01:13:03to make sure everything's
01:13:04precise and here
01:13:05it's just like,
01:13:05slap it on!
01:13:07I swear I'm a better artist
01:13:08than this.
01:13:09All right.
01:13:11Just 10 minutes to go.
01:13:14I have never done
01:13:15a showpiece like this before.
01:13:17Now I'm trying to go
01:13:17triple time on these books.
01:13:19I've lost way too much time
01:13:21just trying to have
01:13:22a finished showpiece
01:13:23at this point.
01:13:24You guide it with your hand,
01:13:24make sure it doesn't hit
01:13:25the raven.
01:13:26Yeah, you're good.
01:13:26Actually grab the bottom
01:13:27of the shield if you can.
01:13:29Going into head-to-head
01:13:30to competition is tough.
01:13:31We've gone for height,
01:13:32we've gone for a lot
01:13:33of chocolate on there.
01:13:34Wow.
01:13:34It's not my best work,
01:13:36but at the end of the day,
01:13:37like, I'm really proud of us.
01:13:38Jalisa!
01:13:39Okay!
01:13:41Ravenclaw teams,
01:13:42arrest our momentum.
01:13:43Your time is up.
01:13:45I'm sorry.
01:13:46I'm sorry we had to pivot
01:13:47so much.
01:13:49We did it, we did it,
01:13:50we did it, we did it.
01:13:51That's as good
01:13:51as it's gonna get.
01:13:57Everything has to get put on
01:14:00just in the right spot
01:14:01and the details,
01:14:02they're very delicate,
01:14:03so worried.
01:14:04Take your time,
01:14:05there you go.
01:14:06I've got one more feather
01:14:07on in and we can pick this
01:14:08as well.
01:14:09We've got to hope
01:14:09that the judges love
01:14:10what we do
01:14:11and that we can progress
01:14:12and win the head-to-head.
01:14:13Oh my God.
01:14:18Hello, Ravenclaw teams.
01:14:20It's time to judge
01:14:21your efforts
01:14:22and to find out
01:14:23which Ravenclaw showpiece
01:14:25really took flight.
01:14:27Caitlyn and Jaleesa.
01:14:30This makes you
01:14:30want to study, right?
01:14:32This is the Raven
01:14:33creating a whirlwind of air.
01:14:36We've got a wand down there.
01:14:39Wingardium Leviosa.
01:14:41There you go.
01:14:43Wow.
01:14:45It feels a bit menacing
01:14:47up there the way
01:14:47it's kind of coming
01:14:48towards us.
01:14:49Great use of air
01:14:50as your house element.
01:14:51Sort of this whirlwind
01:14:53and turning story.
01:14:54We're getting all
01:14:55of your elements.
01:14:56I do like
01:14:56the composition
01:14:57of what you've got
01:14:58but I don't know
01:14:59if it necessarily
01:14:59tells me a story.
01:15:01On execution,
01:15:02look guys,
01:15:02you've got some
01:15:02great detail in there.
01:15:04I love some of the textures
01:15:05that you guys have used.
01:15:06The wings on the bird
01:15:08look great.
01:15:08I like the little
01:15:10sugar bubbles.
01:15:10You've got a lot
01:15:11of different technique
01:15:12going on here.
01:15:13But the kind of
01:15:14sense of levitation
01:15:15that you're getting there,
01:15:16the elements look
01:15:17quite heavy.
01:15:18Yeah.
01:15:19With the modeling chocolate,
01:15:20I think you just needed
01:15:21a lighter medium.
01:15:23Yeah.
01:15:23Maybe like pulp sugar
01:15:24or something.
01:15:24The books,
01:15:25I feel like the pages
01:15:27needed to be
01:15:28a little bit more detailed
01:15:29and that's what really
01:15:31is required
01:15:31to make these showpieces
01:15:33stand out.
01:15:35Now, let's talk
01:15:36about the tasting element.
01:15:38Yeah.
01:15:38So because we are
01:15:40representing Ravenclaw,
01:15:41Professor Treelani,
01:15:42one of the classes
01:15:42that she teaches
01:15:43is how to read
01:15:44the tea leaves.
01:15:44So we decided to go
01:15:45with a tea-inspired
01:15:46flavored cake.
01:15:47Love it.
01:15:47So this is our take
01:15:48on London fog.
01:15:49So it is an earl grey cake
01:15:51with a earl grey milk soak.
01:15:52It's a blueberry lavender jam
01:15:54with a honey vanilla
01:15:55Swiss meringue buttercream.
01:15:57Yum.
01:15:57Nice.
01:15:57You were telling me
01:15:58London fog's
01:15:59one of your favorites,
01:15:59isn't it?
01:16:00It is.
01:16:00I love a London fog beverage.
01:16:08I love the flavors.
01:16:10What I am not enjoying
01:16:11are the bits of tea.
01:16:13So I think
01:16:14what you need it to do...
01:16:16All right.
01:16:16is maybe take the sugar,
01:16:23pulse it with the tea
01:16:24so it's finer.
01:16:25It's sticking in my teeth.
01:16:26It's not really pleasant.
01:16:27It's rehydrated
01:16:28in the batter.
01:16:29Oh, okay.
01:16:30That makes sense.
01:16:30Look, the favor of the
01:16:31earl grey is lovely.
01:16:32It comes through
01:16:32nice and clean.
01:16:34The crumb for me
01:16:35is very dry.
01:16:37You're thinking about
01:16:37the ratios of what you have.
01:16:39I think there needed
01:16:40to be more jam.
01:16:41I think it's probably dry
01:16:42because once that tea
01:16:44rehydrates,
01:16:45it absorbs.
01:16:45A lot of the moisture
01:16:47from your cake, yeah.
01:16:48That makes a lot of sense
01:16:49scientifically, yeah.
01:16:50Mm-hmm.
01:16:51Your cake is not
01:16:53where I think
01:16:54you wanted it to be.
01:16:56Thank you, guys.
01:16:57Thank you.
01:16:58Regardless of what happens,
01:16:59I love our showpiece
01:17:00and that's it.
01:17:02That's it.
01:17:07Hello, gents.
01:17:07Oh, look at that
01:17:11raven.
01:17:12Wow.
01:17:12We've got the colors,
01:17:14we've got the blue,
01:17:14the silver,
01:17:15the scarf, right there.
01:17:17That looks very nicely
01:17:18knitted.
01:17:19So this is the dye them
01:17:20that belongs to
01:17:21Ruina Ravenclaw.
01:17:22Mm-hmm.
01:17:22We've got some book
01:17:23of riddles, it would seem.
01:17:25We love a riddle.
01:17:26We love a riddle.
01:17:27I have no voice,
01:17:28but I can speak.
01:17:30I have no body,
01:17:31but I can't move.
01:17:32I have no hands,
01:17:34but I can feel your skin.
01:17:37The element of air.
01:17:38That is wind.
01:17:39Yes, correct.
01:17:40Air.
01:17:40Very good.
01:17:41Oh, top of the class,
01:17:42Joseph.
01:17:42Ah.
01:17:46Oh.
01:17:46Oh, oh, oh.
01:17:49Oh.
01:17:49Oh.
01:17:50Oh.
01:17:51Oh, oh, oh.
01:17:55Very cool.
01:17:57Oh, I love it.
01:17:59I love that.
01:17:59I tell you,
01:18:00I love the book.
01:18:02I love how light
01:18:03the pages look.
01:18:04In terms of story,
01:18:05we get Ravenclaw.
01:18:06In terms of the execution,
01:18:08I love the textures
01:18:09that you guys have.
01:18:10From the wings,
01:18:11this little detailing here
01:18:12is beautiful.
01:18:13I love that.
01:18:14Yeah.
01:18:15And if we're going
01:18:15to go into the details here,
01:18:17I love the book
01:18:18and I love the page.
01:18:19I think there could have
01:18:19been other text
01:18:20on other pages.
01:18:21That's one of the things
01:18:22I have to say
01:18:23about being in this space
01:18:24where we are.
01:18:25The devil is in the detail.
01:18:27Every corner you look in
01:18:28and I just think
01:18:29having one random riddle there,
01:18:32I think it would have been nice
01:18:32maybe to have other
01:18:33Ravenclaw-related content,
01:18:37images, whatever,
01:18:37on the other pages.
01:18:39Little details.
01:18:40And then the feathers.
01:18:40And then the feathers.
01:18:44So, the only way
01:18:45to follow that explosion
01:18:46is to taste.
01:18:48Obviously, displaying
01:18:49the beautiful Dailan,
01:18:51we've created
01:18:51this velvet-style pillar
01:18:53for it to sit upon.
01:18:54And inside there,
01:18:55we've layered
01:18:55multiple flavors
01:18:56and textures.
01:18:57We have a lovely base
01:18:58of a crunchy foyting
01:18:59with almonds
01:18:59and blonde chocolate.
01:19:01Ooh.
01:19:02I like the layers.
01:19:03We then have
01:19:04a beautiful blonde chocolate sponge,
01:19:06a layer of milk chocolate custard,
01:19:08a salted caramel.
01:19:09The layers of Ravenclaw.
01:19:11We finally have
01:19:12a beautiful whipped ganache
01:19:13of milk chocolate.
01:19:14The mousse is so light.
01:19:27You have the blonde chocolate cake
01:19:29and the fouillotine,
01:19:30the sablée,
01:19:31but as you're eating it,
01:19:32the salted caramel
01:19:33really is the sauce
01:19:36in your mouth.
01:19:36It's almost like a sundae.
01:19:38On the taste side,
01:19:39you guys have
01:19:40absolutely nailed it
01:19:42with this.
01:19:43Thank you.
01:19:44Thank you.
01:19:51The team
01:19:52through to the next challenge
01:19:55is
01:19:57Andy and Stefan.
01:20:01Good luck.
01:20:02Good luck, guys.
01:20:03Good luck.
01:20:04It feels incredible
01:20:05to be safe
01:20:05and actually progressing
01:20:06into the next round.
01:20:07Caitlin and Jalisa,
01:20:09unfortunately,
01:20:10that puts you at risk
01:20:12of leaving the competition
01:20:14for good.
01:20:15This is really nerve-wracking.
01:20:17I know what we're both capable of
01:20:18and that was not
01:20:19our best foot forward.
01:20:20Let's just pray
01:20:21that we make it through.
01:20:25Thank you for a wonderful
01:20:29first challenge
01:20:30all about the houses
01:20:31of Hogwarts.
01:20:32Jenny and Alex,
01:20:34Angel and Rui,
01:20:35Juju and KG,
01:20:36and Andy and Stefan,
01:20:37you won your
01:20:38Hogwarts house jewels
01:20:40and that means
01:20:41that you'll all move on
01:20:43to the next
01:20:43Harry Potter location.
01:20:45Well done.
01:20:49So that leaves
01:20:51Heather and Kate,
01:20:53Molly and Priya,
01:20:54Marge and Sarah,
01:20:57Caitlin and Jalisa.
01:20:59Unfortunately,
01:21:00this adventure
01:21:01must now end
01:21:02for two talented teams.
01:21:05Over to you, judges.
01:21:06The first team
01:21:08we are saving
01:21:08is...
01:21:12Molly and Priya.
01:21:14Oh!
01:21:18Congratulations, you guys.
01:21:20Congratulations, you guys.
01:21:20The second
01:21:21and final team
01:21:23we're saving
01:21:23is...
01:21:25Heather and Kate.
01:21:30Oh, my God.
01:21:34I think
01:21:35the first challenge
01:21:36was a good learning
01:21:37experience for us.
01:21:39I think we're just
01:21:39going to get better
01:21:40and better.
01:21:42Marge and Sarah,
01:21:43Caitlin, Jalisa,
01:21:45we're truly sorry,
01:21:46but your time
01:21:47on Whistler Baking
01:21:48must end here.
01:21:50It's just
01:21:50you have full faith
01:21:52in your concept
01:21:52and you work very hard on it
01:21:54and sometimes
01:21:55things just don't go
01:21:56the way you want.
01:21:57It's really hard
01:21:58to accept that
01:21:58when you know
01:21:59what you're capable of.
01:22:00100%.
01:22:01There were a lot
01:22:02of wonderful elements
01:22:03to your piece.
01:22:04It really was
01:22:05the Earl Grey cake
01:22:06that didn't quite
01:22:07meet the level
01:22:09that we thought it should.
01:22:10At the end of the day,
01:22:11like, I'm really proud of us
01:22:12and I would not
01:22:14change who my partner
01:22:14was for anything.
01:22:16I just feel like
01:22:16I let Caitlin down.
01:22:18You did not.
01:22:19You did not.
01:22:21Marge and Sarah,
01:22:22I think we both thought
01:22:23your matcha tea cake
01:22:25was phenomenally good,
01:22:27but the finishing
01:22:28and the detailing
01:22:29just wasn't quite
01:22:31where we needed it
01:22:32to be for this competition.
01:22:35I put everything
01:22:36I could
01:22:38into this piece
01:22:39and I know
01:22:41so that I can walk away
01:22:43knowing that
01:22:43there was nothing else
01:22:44I could have done.
01:22:45Even though I didn't
01:22:46get to stick around
01:22:47as long as I wanted to,
01:22:48I think I showed
01:22:50what I'm capable of,
01:22:51showed my personality
01:22:52and that's all I can do.
01:22:55Okay, good job, bakers.
01:22:57You've all made it through
01:22:58to the next challenge.
01:23:00Congratulations.
01:23:05But if you thought
01:23:06this was tough,
01:23:07just wait until
01:23:08you see what's coming.
01:23:09Coming up
01:23:13on Wizards of Baking.
01:23:15Get your buildings
01:23:16right here.
01:23:17Chapter 2.
01:23:18You're making toilet paper
01:23:19over there.
01:23:20Yeah, yeah, smell.
01:23:21This is the weirdest
01:23:22thing I've ever done.
01:23:23In a season full of sugar.
01:23:25Why does this work?
01:23:26And spice.
01:23:27And a little bit of
01:23:28Chipotle for smokiness.
01:23:29Not exactly everything
01:23:31is nice.
01:23:32Anybody have a time
01:23:33turner in their pocket?
01:23:34Not today, Heather.
01:23:35But there are familiar faces.
01:23:37Unlocked and loaded.
01:23:38Oh, wow.
01:23:39There's one element missing
01:23:41and that's the mini-me.
01:23:42And Harry Potter lore.
01:23:44It's time for
01:23:45a game of
01:23:46Draco
01:23:46or Faco.
01:23:48If he bows back,
01:23:49it means you can touch him.
01:23:50Hey.
01:23:51And a game-changing twist
01:23:53No one saw coming.
01:23:55We solemnly swear
01:23:56we've been up to no good.
01:23:58No.
01:23:59No.
01:24:00No.
01:24:00No.
