Israel was shaken as the IDF’s top legal officer, Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, was reported missing for several hours on Sunday evening, triggering a massive land, sea, and air search along the Tel Aviv coastline. Authorities deployed helicopters, flares, naval units, and advanced tracking technology after her family filed a missing person report.
Her car was found at Hatzuk Beach, and Hebrew media reported she left a letter described by some as a possible “suicide note.”
After two tense hours, she contacted her husband and was found alive in Herzliya. Police say she underwent medical checks before questioning.
As speculation surged online — including theories about internal political pressure and the timing of her recent statements about IDF misconduct — officials emphasized restraint. President Isaac Herzog urged the public to “stop the accusations and mutual attacks,” warning that reckless claims could ignite dangerous tension.
