00:00My name is Zack Santiago, and I play a character named Nicholas Maestro Martinez.
00:09That's two times I've let you kill my family.
00:13Bet the electric guy I have done.
00:15I'm not gonna call him a villain, but he's pretty serious about what he does and what he wants,
00:23and will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
00:28And might have to cross a few lines.
00:33Well, the story's got a few flashbacks.
00:36So where we pick up for him the first time is about two years before where the bulk of the movie starts.
00:45Oh, he might have come to the right place.
00:48He is an entrepreneur.
00:51He has a good heart, but sometimes he has to find ulterior motives and ways to make ends meet.
01:02It's a prison scene.
01:04There's a character who I have a very special relationship.
01:08She's like a nemesis, but also a lover.
01:13So there's a lot of things going on, a lot of subtext in the scene.
01:19Feliz Navidad, mi amor.
01:22I have been thinking about you.
01:25When you can have a scene like that, that isn't just like black or white,
01:29and when you have a scene partner who is as strong as my partner in this scene,
01:34she's really, really gifted.
01:37It really sizzles.
01:41It's a joy.
01:43In between takes, sometimes if you want to sort of disconnect a little bit just to preserve a part of you.
01:53Or if it's really a more physically based thing, like when we're doing stunt things,
01:57then you want to breathe and cool down and kind of get back in that zone and focus on the choreography for the stunt work.
02:04If it's really emotional stuff, or if the character is very complicated,
02:09I like to not get too much out of character,
02:12because I don't want to have to go too far and have to get back to that place again.
02:19This love is real.
02:21No one will ever be able to come close to what we have.
02:25It burns like a fire that will not die.
02:30Everyone's got their own process.
02:31So for me, between takes, it kind of depends on the nature of the character, the nature of the project,
02:37and what sort of scene we're filming at the time.
02:42So if you're really into the holiday stuff,
02:44there'll be moments of that kind of family and that notion and that celebration in there for you.
02:49And if you're into the forbidden love or the new love,
02:53or can't you see he likes you, you're going to get that.
02:56And if you want a good bang-em-up movie with,
02:59are they going to get there in time sort of thing,
03:02you're going to have that too.
03:03So it's something you can watch on your own and be satisfied if you like one of those things,
03:09or if you're with a group of people who likes only one genre,
03:12everyone's going to be happy, right?
03:14So I think it's kind of the perfect all-in-one film.
03:20I have a deep respect for our stunt departments, our stunt coordinators.
03:25I've been a stunt performer double myself, and I'm a former fighter.
03:29I've boxed for almost 25 years, so I like the physicality.
03:32There's such a dance involved with a lot of fight scenes in action movies,
03:37or how cars are going to work, or with effects.
03:40When done properly, it just brings a whole other level to the drama,
03:45or to the story, or to the writing, to the word.
03:48So I think good action, it's hard to achieve, but when done right, it's magical.
