00:00You
00:06Previously on Criminal Minds Evolution
00:08Smets used the exact same codec as Franklin Fowler
00:11Which is the same as Boyd's
00:13Do you think he didn't actually shut down the network?
00:15I think he paused it
00:16And now maybe there's some secret order and his followers are reactivating
00:21Will, are you okay?
00:23Will suffered an aneurysm
00:25Will's dead. He's gone
00:27How'd you get this BAU gate?
00:31I've been checking it
00:32So besides us and Voight, who knows about BAU gate?
00:35Anyone Voight talked to
00:37This could be tied to the new network rising from the ashes of the old
00:41Why are you showing me this?
00:43Because it was just posted to a website you created
00:46We're running out of ways to get inside Voight's subconscious
00:49And there is a network of killers locked inside of it
00:52Well, there's a form of Borshek test that we'd like to use on Voight
00:57How about this?
01:01Am I a killer?
01:03I made a deal admitting that I connected like-minded people on a network
01:08It's Voight
01:09So he pre-recorded it and he had someone release it
01:11Why is his pulse so low?
01:13What's he taking?
01:14If he's ODing, he's been hoarding it
01:16He can't die
01:17Shit!
01:18Code blow!
01:19Code blow!
01:20You don't get to die
01:24This is why you're still alive
01:28Are you okay?
01:30I'm fine
01:31I'm fine
01:32I'm fine
02:00Captain Dolce?
02:01Yeah
02:02I'm SSA Giroux
02:03This is SSA Green
02:04House is dark so we haven't seen any movement but first responder heard noises
02:07Somebody in there
02:08Based on the previous pattern, the Sunset will likely kill himself before being taken into custody
02:12What do you mean pattern?
02:13We've had multiple killers in separate cities
02:16It's part of a network
02:17Press for joining is to kill yourself before you can be arrested
02:20So what, it's like a suicide cult?
02:22Kind of
02:23Kind of
02:24What do I tell him I meant?
02:25That we need to take this one alive
02:27So Captain, SSA Green will secure the perimeter entry point
02:38Crystal
02:40Let's go
02:50We're going in
03:00We're going in
03:01We're going in
03:20We have a victim
03:23Family room
03:25Female
03:27Teenager
03:29Deceased
03:30Copy
03:50Moose
04:12Living room
04:14Female
04:15Shit
04:26Whoa, whoa, freeze
04:29Whoa, hold your fire
04:31Drop your weapon
04:32Okay, listen
04:33We don't want to hurt you, okay?
04:40We can help you
04:41We won
04:44To help you
04:46Yeah, it's okay
04:49What the fuck is wrong with you?
04:57You're trying to get yourself killed
04:58Shoot me
05:12What happened after that?
05:24Sorry?
05:25What happened after you took this woman into custody?
05:28Uh, I should leave
05:34We just started
05:35This was a mistake
05:37Uh, hold on
05:39Jennifer, why is this a mistake?
05:42Because it doesn't make any sense
05:43Doing this with you
05:46I'm trying to make sense
05:48I'm trying to make sense of
05:48This
05:54Why?
05:58Some people find it easier to be honest with a stranger than a friend
06:01I think you're one of those people
06:03You witnessed a whole family get murdered
06:08By a woman who then asked you to put her out of her misery
06:11And all this happened less than a month after you lost your
06:15Anyone would need to talk about that
06:22Except that's not what happened
06:24No?
06:26No
06:26I can help you
06:30I want to help you
06:35You know what just hit me?
07:04Why you asked me to talk this over
07:09You're a mother, right?
07:14Yeah
07:15I'm not
07:16Someday, maybe
07:18But my friends who are mothers
07:22Their lives are a game of how much they can do
07:25In as few moves as possible
07:27So just game this out with me, okay?
07:31Alright
07:32You could go to mandated counseling
07:36Overwhelm some poor, confused counselor with this very complicated story
07:40Or
07:41You could do it here
07:43Where the interested parties are already up to speed
07:46But you're not doing this because it's convenient, are you?
07:53No
07:53Then you tell me
07:56Why are we doing this
07:58Instead of you talking to your people
08:00Is it the fact that you stepped in front of a law enforcement officer's loaded weapon
08:10To save a killer?
08:15Okay
08:16How about this?
08:19Can we start from the beginning?
08:23Because you skipped over some important parts of the story
08:26Like what?
08:28Like how you saved Elias' life
08:31I'd say considering the history between the two of you
08:34That must have been disorienting
08:35Disorienting is
08:39Too small a word
08:41Fair enough
08:42What I want to know is how you get from there
08:46To unmasking a killer in Cleveland
08:49It started two days ago
08:52When I learned that I was wrong
08:54About everything
08:59Hey
09:05Hi
09:08Hey, uh, Jennifer
09:13Tara, what's going on?
09:15Um, that video you found the one with the man in the mask stalking the family
09:22You mean Voight in the mask?
09:24No, it couldn't have been Voight
09:25Whoa, what are you talking about?
09:27Vycap got a hit
09:29A match to the house in the video
09:30Where?
09:35Cleveland
09:36So he's a family annihilator?
09:44Not the whole family
09:46He left the daughter Marilyn alive
09:48And he left her with this
09:51He actually, uh, put it on her
09:55As he was walking out the door
09:57Marilyn didn't get a good look at the unsub's face
10:00But she did tell investigators
10:02That after he had subdued the entire family
10:04He told them he wanted to play a game
10:06They had to choose one family member to sacrifice
10:10And then he would leave
10:11When they couldn't, he chose for them
10:14And he didn't leave
10:16When he was finished, he told Marilyn that he had kept her alive
10:19So that she could deliver a message to the FBI
10:22What was the message?
10:25Tell them I am the brutal man
10:27And as we saw from the video
10:29Cleveland PD found trace evidence in places you wouldn't expect
10:33Like, like the basement, bathrooms, closets
10:36Stuff like gum and candy wrappers
10:37Okay, guys, we're not, we're not talking about the obvious here
10:40If I was wrong about Voight
10:42Then a week ago
10:44This unsub posted his video on BAUgate
10:48I'm sorry, BAU what?
10:50BAUgate, it's a website
10:52That Elias started
10:54It had pictures on it
10:55Pictures of what?
10:57Look, all you need to know is that the FBI shut it down
10:59And then it went active again with this video from
11:01Jesus, I hate even saying his name
11:05The brutal man
11:08At first we couldn't figure out
11:11Was he posting on BAUgate for us?
11:13Or was it meant for Elias?
11:16But then
11:16At the Langham house
11:18He left a survivor
11:20And we had our answer
11:24He wanted you to know he was out there
11:26Garcia, reach out to Cleveland PD's media relations
11:31I do not want that moniker, brutal man, to get out there
11:33I already have
11:34You know, just because we know this isn't Voight
11:36It doesn't mean that he's not involved
11:38It's true, some of these guys on Voight's network
11:40Gave themselves nicknames
11:41I had to when I was on it
11:42So the brutal man could be somebody Voight knows
11:44We need to ask him
11:45Oh, I will
11:46No
11:48Dave, you'll talk to him
11:51The rest of us are going to Cleveland
11:52JJ, come with me
11:55Emily told me why I wasn't going to Cleveland
12:00She said it was too soon
12:02But it was too close to the case
12:05And how did that make you feel?
12:06Maybe that's why you want to talk to me
12:11Because of how your team has been treating you
12:13No
12:13It's okay if it is
12:15I understand
12:16I think your team would understand
12:18Oh my god, no, that's not it
12:20Emily and I are friends
12:21We worked it out
12:23And when we landed in Cleveland
12:25Wait, how did you two work it out?
12:28It's not important
12:29It might be
12:30It really isn't
12:32So by the time we landed in Cleveland
12:38The unsub had struck again
12:39Stop
12:40I know that you travel to Cleveland
12:43What you're not telling me is how
12:44We have a jet
12:47How do you go back to flying commercial after this?
12:54I still think that Prentiss uses this for personal travel
12:58Hey, A, that's illegal
13:00B, I would never
13:01Yeah, but wouldn't B go out of the window
13:03If you knew you could get away with A
13:04What are you doing?
13:11Coming with you
13:12Can you guys give us a second?
13:16Okay, make your case
13:27Why are you coming?
13:28Because I have to
13:30I need more than that
13:32Emily
13:35You told me to prioritize myself
13:39And that's what I'm doing
13:40I am prioritizing myself
13:41And I need
13:42I need to get back to work
13:45Okay
13:46I-I-I need it
13:50Hey, all available SSAs and new agents on board
13:58Wheels up
14:04You were saying by the time you landed in Cleveland
14:08This brutal man
14:10He struck again?
14:12Yeah
14:13So, that woman who was wearing the mask
14:15If she wasn't the killer
14:17She was the one he let live
14:19Her name was Amy Deanna
14:20In less than three hours
14:22The unsub made her a widow and a bereaved mother
14:25He told her
14:26If she wore that mask
14:28When the police arrived, they would kill her quickly
14:31That's just brutal
14:36I'm guessing she didn't tell you much
14:44She must have been in shock from what she'd been through
14:48No
14:49That was the worst part
14:51She couldn't stop talking
14:53She described exactly what happened to her
14:56She said she had locked up the house for the night
14:58And her family was about to watch a movie
15:00Amy said he came out of nowhere
15:05It was as if he'd been inside the house the whole time
15:08Unfortunately for Amy
15:16That was only the beginning
15:18He tied them to chairs
15:20Placed them in a circle
15:21To face each other
15:22Now
15:38The game begins
15:40Game?
15:42Please
15:43Let us go
15:45I'm gonna make this easy for you
15:47Choose the one who dies
15:49And then
15:51I'll spare the rest
15:52And leave
15:53Take me
15:54No
15:55Let them go
15:56No
15:56No, Dad, no
15:57Please
15:58No
15:59Let them go
16:00Let them go
16:01Please
16:02Take me
16:03No
16:05The fuck in here
16:07No
16:08No
16:10No
16:11No
16:12Girls, look at me
16:13Look at me
16:16Look at me
16:17Do not look over there
16:17Look at me
16:18Who's next?
16:35Why are you doing this?
16:37I begged him to kill me too
16:39But he refused
16:43He just
16:48He cut off the zip ties
16:50He gave me the mask
16:52And then he
16:53Walked out to the garage
16:57I don't know how to live without them
17:04They were my whole life
17:06We have counseling services
17:11But no
17:12What's the point?
17:14There's no counseling for this
17:16Is there someone we can call?
17:22Someone who can stay with you?
17:23What?
17:25What are they gonna do?
17:27They wouldn't understand
17:28Nobody could
17:31You won't be alone
17:34Can you get Amy's phone, please?
17:38Yep
17:39What's that?
18:07It's, uh
18:09My boy's initials
18:12It's a gift
18:14For my husband
18:15Oh
18:17Is that a crucifix?
18:23Yeah
18:24Surprised
18:26Why?
18:28Most doctors I know
18:29Are atheists
18:30Oh
18:31I don't know about that
18:33I went to Georgetown
18:34It's a Jesuit school
18:36It's a Jesuit school
18:36I like the way those priests challenge me
18:39Also, they like to drink
18:42There's more to it than that
18:46Can't keep a good profiler down
18:48Deflection of humor
18:51What do you believe in?
18:56Not a lot right now
18:58Do you think Will is in heaven?
19:05Why would you ask me that?
19:07To see if you would answer the question
19:09I'm learning more by what you won't talk about than what you will
19:13Which helps me understand the dynamic your whole team is going
19:18What dynamic?
19:20Oh
19:20Come on
19:21The behavioral analysis unit is the most emotionally constipated group of experts I have ever worked with
19:26Okay
19:28Let's start with Agent Rossi
19:30What's wrong with Dave?
19:31Well, after what he did with his little Worschach test, I couldn't trust him to be alone with Elias
19:36Wait, didn't he tell you what happened when he came back to visit?
19:42Thank you
19:43Whoa, whoa, pockets too, please
19:45Why?
19:47Agent Rossi, did it ever occur to you that if you hadn't pulled that last stunt
19:50We wouldn't have to have my patient on suicide watch?
19:54Is this okay?
19:55Is there any gum-related history you and Elias share that I should know about?
20:00Anything that might upset him and make his condition worse?
20:02I don't think so
20:04No, I swear
20:06We're good
20:09David Rossi
20:18Author of the profiling books Obsession and Understanding Evil
20:25I read those books
20:28No, actually I memorized those books
20:32So I could learn from them, so I could be a better
20:36Well, if you can remember that, what else do you remember?
20:48I remember the smell of your cologne as I was smashing your face into the door of my house
20:52What?
20:55And I remember smelling it when I was using you as a shield when somebody who...
20:59Baiting, you just shoot him!
21:01Who I don't remember
21:02Was pointing a gun at us
21:04Agent Rossi?
21:05Long story
21:06And then I remember smelling it mixed with your sweat as I locked you in a shipping container
21:17And left you there to die
21:21And what about the brutal man?
21:26Does that name ring any bells?
21:31You're not carrying your gun
21:33I insisted
21:34Is that because you've thought about killing me?
21:39Because you know who I was?
21:44Yeah
21:44But that was a different me
21:47When I couldn't accept that you are a different you
21:51What if I'm not?
21:56Elias
21:57We've run numerous tests on you
22:00Parts of your brain are talking to each other that didn't talk before
22:04There's only been one place where we've seen this kind of transformation
22:08In the brains of soldiers who have taken high doses of psilocybin to treat PTSD
22:13So from a neuropsychology perspective
22:17You're a miracle
22:19Can you come here? I need to ask you a favor
22:27I need you
22:33To go and get your gun
22:36And put it on this table over here
22:38No
22:40I'm not asking you to pull the trigger, okay?
22:45I'll do that by myself
22:46I'm not gonna do that
22:48I'm a fucking monster, David
22:52Don't you understand?
22:52Elias
22:53I'm a mutt
22:53Stop
22:54Let go of him
22:55Just get the fuck out of here, please
22:56Go
22:56Wolfie, now
22:57Just get the fuck out
23:00In the wake of his suicide attempt
23:09It appears that his memories seem to be triggered by the physical presence of a person
23:15So when he saw Agent Rossi
23:18He remembered the kidnapping and locking Rossi in the shipping container
23:23But he didn't remember Tyler's name
23:25I'm sorry, uh, Special Agent Green
23:27Correct
23:28Because he hasn't been in the same room with Agent Green
23:31But if you think about how far Elias still has to go
23:35It's gonna be extremely challenging
23:37Because the more he learns, the worse he feels
23:41The worse he feels, the less he wants to talk to someone who can help
23:45Sound familiar?
23:52For a psychiatrist, you're not subtle
23:54Subtlety never got me very far
23:57You're right
24:05Elias and I are caught on the same loop
24:09But, you know, that's why I'm here
24:11For your help
24:13So, after we interviewed Amy, Deanna
24:19We walked the crime scene
24:20But, I could tell
24:24Tell what?
24:28My head wasn't in the game
24:29Has anything come back on these treadmarks?
24:34According to the crime lab's report, these same treadmarks were found in the flower beds outside
24:39Got no signs of forced entry
24:41Our unself came in here and waited for the family to settle in for the night
24:45First victims of Langham's
24:47Thought, uh, maybe they left the back door unlocked
24:50So, probably how he got in there and here
24:54You ever hear Amy, Deanna insisted that she lock all of the doors
24:58JJ?
25:13Something's not right
25:14What?
25:16Amy said the unsub cut her loose, gave her the mask, and then he left through the garage
25:21Ryan, what are you thinking?
25:23Why not go out the back?
25:25Avoid the risk of being seen
25:27Why go through the garage?
25:30Maybe there's something meaningful about this space to him?
25:33Langham House didn't have a garage
25:35So it's not the garage that's meaningful to him
25:38It's what's inside of it
25:41Right here
25:44He took something off the car
25:46Souvenir
25:48I think I know what's triggering him
25:52I need to talk to Amy again
25:54Tara, hey
25:57Absolutely, give me a second
25:58Amy
26:00I'm sorry
26:02Hey, this may not seem important, but bear with us
26:06Did you have a bumper sticker or a decal on the back of your minivan?
26:13Yes
26:14Okay
26:15What was it?
26:20One of those stick figure family stickers
26:22You know
26:24Four figures showing me, Brian, Taylor, and Megan
26:28Forget them
26:32Head wasn't in the game, huh?
26:36Sounds like you were doing okay
26:37Ah, we haven't gotten to the bad part yet, have we?
26:46The bad part was when we delivered the profile
26:48The unsub we're looking for is a white male between the ages of 25 and 35
26:53The psychological game he plays with his victims
26:56In addition to calling himself by the moniker the brutal man
26:59Suggests a sadistic psychopath with a grandiosity bordering on a god complex
27:04His desire to not only disrupt but to destroy these families
27:08Speaks to the unsub's own background being filled with domestic violence
27:12Or a violence that somehow denied him a family bond at an early age
27:17What seems to trigger this unsub is viewing what would otherwise be a rather innocuous visual representation of the family unit
27:23Specifically a common stick figure family decal like these
27:28To him it's like a taunt
27:30Because of the torture and nature of the violence
27:33It's likely he's unmarried and has no children
27:37As for having his victims choose whom first
27:42That is obviously a false choice
27:45Again it is unlikely that the sun sub has ever been married
28:05Weren't even had children
28:07and all my time as a profiler i i've never done that i've had victims die in front of me i've
28:24buried children but i have never abandoned my team never jj you did not abandon your team
28:32you were having a very human moment in my job i i don't get that luxury
28:39because you know what was happening while i was having my little moment
28:44the unsub was taking another family
28:47jessica trevor come and set the table your dad's gonna be home soon
29:02hustle hustle come on
29:03mine i'm sitting here tonight you sat there last night it doesn't matter i got here
29:17mom tell me i can't sit here again i'm sitting here tonight see problem solved let's go
29:23thanks a lot now you ruined it for the both of us great
29:28nina kids i'm so sorry i'm late i hope you guys didn't wait for me
29:54what's with the chairs
30:00where are you guys
30:07the nicoletti's mom dad teen daughter adolescent son
30:33he tied them to chairs placed them in a circle to face one another
30:40innocent family like the others i know this family got under your skin but you deal with
30:48this a lot right more than any person should
30:51this a lot right more than any person should be in a circle
30:55let's talk about coping skills
30:57me i pray
31:03has it ever made a difference
31:07that's not why i pray
31:09then why do it
31:11i don't ask god to change outcomes
31:13i ask him for help accepting them
31:15even when whatever follows is a hail storm of shit
31:23especially then
31:25okay
31:27you get on your knees
31:29sometimes
31:31what does god look like to you
31:33like this sky king sitting on a throne of clouds with this halo of light crowning the top of his head
31:47really no i didn't mean to sound it's okay i just i'm sorry i couldn't help myself
31:53but seriously i i like to imagine god looking wise like my dad i lost him when i was 15.
32:07i'm sorry
32:11it's still so unreal
32:13we were all at dinner
32:15one second he was with us
32:17and the next he was gone
32:21a
32:23cerebrovascular accident
32:25a
32:26stroke
32:28is that why you became a doctor
32:31yes it is
32:33i wanted to understand why it happened to him
32:39but you know with
32:43all my education and experience i still don't have an answer
32:49my father had
32:51no pre-existing conditions
32:53no medical history
32:55it just happened
32:57doesn't that make you crazy
33:01sometimes
33:03but then i remember
33:07he's in a better place
33:09he's in a better place
33:11hmm
33:13i don't have that kind of faith
33:17i can see that
33:19but perhaps you perceive the divine more like the good orderly direction
33:25i don't know about that
33:29mainly i just
33:31get by with a little help from my friends
33:33you're right
33:45i came back too soon
33:47there was never gonna be a right time
33:51it was always gonna be too soon
33:53there's a part of me that doesn't know how to make sense of life outside of this job
34:03we get this dopamine rush
34:07from saving lives
34:09from putting handcuffs on the bad guys
34:13because we're smarter than they are
34:15and because we're smarter we can stop them and if we can stop them then it'll solve
34:21everything
34:23but it doesn't
34:27can't
34:29you remember andrew mendoza
34:35your old boyfriend
34:37of course
34:39the one you were gonna follow to denver
34:41yeah him
34:43know why we broke up
34:45no surprisingly
34:47he kept pushing for a threesome
34:51oh shut up
34:53for real
34:57oh
34:59oh
35:00like
35:01you
35:02another guy
35:03oh no
35:04he was
35:05not secure enough in his sexuality for that
35:07nope
35:08it had to be me with another woman
35:10with who
35:11uh
35:13oh
35:15no
35:16please
35:17don't say me
35:18i mean
35:19we never got that far
35:21but he kept
35:22pushing for it
35:24until finally i was like
35:25andrew if i wanted to disappoint two people at once i would go to dinner with my parents
35:31what
35:39why
35:41why are you telling me this
35:45because
35:47when he and i were over
35:49i knew i could come back
35:51i knew this job would make me feel better
35:55because
35:57i didn't have the real thing
35:59i never have
36:01you did
36:03you had the fairy tale
36:09the perfect husband
36:11and the feelings that you're feeling right now will is the one who would help you through them
36:17but now
36:19no matter how many lives we save
36:23nothing you find in this job is gonna make this better
36:27and i am afraid that the grief will overwhelm you
36:36Tara said it would be like a wave
36:39but it really isn't
36:42it's more like an unsub
36:46you're not expecting it
36:48you're not expecting it
36:50it comes through the back
37:02oh my god
37:04what?
37:06the
37:09the unsub
37:11yeah the door through the garage was locked when we made entry but
37:15Amy said that's how he walked out of the house
37:19okay so he locked the door behind him when he left
37:25there's only one way he could have locked that door
37:28exactly
37:29now the figurative key being that all of the Deanna family house keys were accounted for
37:34as well as those of the Langham family
37:38what about a housekeeper or a handyman
37:40a neighbor
37:42yeah even relatives there could be a few spares out there
37:44oh it's weird how hot i get when i'm miles ahead of you which i am right now
37:48okay all keys are accounted for
37:51however
37:52i'm learning a thing in real time
37:54is this a coincidence
37:56i think not
37:57okay
37:58uh both the Deanna family and the Langhams hired a locksmith to rekey their houses
38:04that locksmith in question is Ronald Graber and his business is in downtown Cleveland
38:08can you identify if Graber had any clients after the Deanna family
38:12uh
38:13yes
38:14yes
38:15the Nicolettis hired him to change their locks
38:17i'm sending you all relevant addresses
38:19now thank you Penelope Captain Dolce and i will take Graber's business
38:23Luke, Tara you take his house
38:25Tyler, JJ head to the Nicolettis
38:27oh good good you're awake
38:56well i see you're all a little tied up right now so i'm gonna make this easy for you
39:00we're gonna play a little game
39:02the rules are simple
39:04you get to choose which one of you i'm going to kill
39:13fuck you
39:14fuck me
39:15alright well uh
39:17fuck you
39:18no no no no
39:19it's me
39:20it's me
39:21okay take me
39:22no dad no
39:23daddy please no no
39:24more rain
39:26oh
39:27yeah
39:28as much fun
39:30pops
39:31as it would be to kill you
39:32in front of your family
39:34been there
39:35done that
39:36i wanna see daddy's face when someone else dies
39:40our suspects name is Ronald Graber
39:42based on our profile
39:43he'll likely kill himself before being taken into custody
39:45so it is imperative that we take him alive
39:47you understand
39:48copy that
39:49let's do it
39:51take anything you want
39:52we have a safe
39:53i don't want your fucking money
39:55no don't you don't you hurt my babies
40:00then choose
40:01no why
40:02choose god damn it
40:04Ronald Graber FBI
40:06drop the weapon
40:07no no no no
40:08Ronald hey hey hey
40:09just wait
40:10i i know you were told
40:12it would be better
40:14if you ended your life
40:15instead of facing the consequences of your actions
40:17but
40:18you don't have to follow those rules anymore
40:20okay
40:24oh you don't know me
40:26i know somebody hurt you
40:29took away
40:33what was precious to you
40:36then you felt
40:39lost
40:40alone
40:41is that what you think
40:46i think this whole persona you've created is about evening the score
40:51you destroy a family
40:56because someone or something destroyed yours
40:59you
41:11you
41:12Oh, is that supposed to work?
41:35Oh, somehow you, uh, you get me, and I get all weak in the knees.
41:42I give up.
41:47Tell me I'm wrong.
41:51You want to know why I do this?
41:58Tell me.
42:04Because I want to.
42:08We outsmarted the bad guy.
42:26Put him in handcuffs, and yet it didn't matter.
42:32I still felt lost.
42:35All my coping skills were gone.
42:42I keep thinking about what Amy Deanna said.
42:47There's no counseling for this.
42:51And yet you chose to do this.
42:53Because maybe a neuropsychiatrist might have something, you know, like something to help
43:01me make sense of all this senseless, unfair bullshit.
43:05Like a drug?
43:07Or a mantra?
43:09I don't know.
43:11How about a prayer?
43:17I wish I could.
43:21You know, there's this old Roman Catholic prayer that goes, okay, God, is it all senseless,
43:29unfair bullshit?
43:33It sounds better in Latin.
43:35Anyway, whenever I invoke that prayer, do you know what I hear back in a voice that sounds
43:40eerily like my dad's?
43:44Get off the cross.
43:45We need the wood.
43:48You understand what I'm saying?
43:52Sure you don't have a drug?
43:54Oh, I got lots of them.
43:57Yeah.
43:59If only it were that easy.
44:01If only.
44:06JJ, I sincerely believe that in your situation, if you can't help yourself.
44:16Help someone else.
44:18Like you.
44:28What do you think?
44:35I think maybe he might be right.
44:41From what I can remember, everything I did was selfish.
44:48Even trying to take my own life is all about me, just me trying to solve my problems.
44:56I've never even considered that I should do something to use someone else's suffering.
45:06It's suffering that I caused.
45:15I've never considered that I could do something to use someone else's suffering.
45:17So, what do you want me to do?
45:21What do you want me to do?
45:24What do you want me to do?
45:31What do you want me to do?
45:35Wait, you, I, I know his sister Allison, I, I,
45:56I, You can do this.
46:01I, I, I want to, but I just.
46:04You can.
46:05Just take your time.
46:07Okay.
46:16No disrespect to JJ, but like, are we sure about this?
46:22I've got some serious reservations about our newly reformed serial killer.
46:26Look, the plan was for JJ to use her trauma to help Voight process his, and then help us with Graber.
46:33The fact that he's here, especially in light of a suicide attempt, is frankly, a win.
46:39Did that mean anything to you?
46:55No.
46:56How about this?
46:58Recognize him?
47:00No.
47:01Well, based on the pattern of your recovered memories, it appears that you have to be in the physical presence of a person to remember your relationship with them or any shared history.
47:19That's the brutal man?
47:21It is.
47:23He surrendered?
47:24He did.
47:26And once he was placed in handcuffs, he had one more thing to tell us.
47:30We're on with Graber.
47:31You have the right to remain silent.
47:33I don't want a lawyer.
47:34I'll talk.
47:35If.
47:38You give me one thing.
47:42What's that?
47:43I have a message for Sicarius.
47:51From his disciple.
47:53Wait, Sicarius?
47:54Is that what I called myself?
47:56No.
47:57It started as a bad joke, but it became a shorthand for law enforcement.
48:01And he thinks he's my disciple?
48:03And he's got a message for you.
48:05No, I swear, I do not know this man.
48:07We think you'll remember once you're face to face.
48:12What do you think?
48:14I think if you have a shared history with this man, then yes, he will remember.
48:21But I'm not the man that he remembers.
48:24It doesn't matter.
48:25You walk in there, he hears the sound of your voice.
48:28He gets so excited, he wets his pants, giving you his message.
48:35Will you be there?
48:38I'll be right in the room next to you, yeah.
48:40What do I say?
48:41By your own admission, you rarely communicated face to face with anyone on your network.
48:46You preferred exchanging encrypted messages.
48:49But there were a handful you spoke to using burner phones.
48:53And we think Graeber was one of them.
48:55So you walk in, you introduce yourself.
48:57I'm Elias Voigt, AKA Sicarius.
49:00You got a message for me, and like I said, he recognizes your voice, and Bob's your uncle.
49:07I'm not exactly sure how this works, but doesn't Elias need some sort of safe word?
49:12Something that he can say if he needs help?
49:14Monster.
49:18I'll say monster if I need help.
49:22Okay.
49:23Let's go.
49:24Let's go.
49:33Sorry.
49:35For everything.
49:53Let's go.
49:54Hey, where did I go?
49:55Sorry.
49:57Why did I go?
49:59Go.
50:00I didn't realize that I had a problem.
50:02I thought it was a problem.
50:03I don't think I'll be good at it.
50:04I thought that I would go.
50:06I didn't realize that I don't think I'd see someone else.
50:08Maybe they had a problem, but I don't think that we'd better.
50:10My name is Elias Voigt.
50:22I am Sicarious.
50:34You have a message for me?
50:40My name is Elias Voigt.
50:45I am Sicarious.
50:50I am Sicarious.
50:55I am Sicarious.
51:00I am Sicarious.

51:09I am Sicarious.
51:11I am Sicarious.
51:13I am Sicarious.
51:15I am Sicarious.
51:17I am Sicarious.
51:19I am Sicarious.
51:21I am Sicarious.
51:23I am Sicarious.
51:25I am Sicarious.
