00:01Hi, I'm Sergio Perez. I drive for Force India.

00:04I've been here eight years in Formula One.

00:07I'm 28 years old.

00:12F1 was always my dream,

00:14to race with the best drivers in the world.

00:17I was always racing in Mexico,

00:20and I never thought that an opportunity to race in Europe

00:23was going to come up.

00:24It was always very expensive,

00:26so we had to find sponsors.

00:28Carlos Lim is one of the richest guys in the world.

00:33I remember calling him all the time when I was 14 years old

00:36to give me an opportunity.

00:40We started together the dream of making it into Formula One.

00:45The career that I have,

00:46it's very much linked to our decisions we took together.

00:51Sergio's always had a very strong hand at Force India

00:54because he was the money guy.

00:56He brought big sponsorship from Mexico with him,

00:58but now there's a bigger fish,

00:59and that bigger fish is Laurence Stroll.

01:01So Sergio's not King of the Hill anymore.

01:03It's anyone's guess at the moment who gets that seat.

01:08Esteban and Sergio.

01:11I don't think they're on each other's Christmas card list.

01:14I think it's fair to say that.

01:15Formula One is massively competitive,

01:23but the situation with Ocon and Perez in 2017 went beyond the point

01:28that I think any of us thought that it would.

01:30You've got to understand the psychology and the dynamics of the team and how that worked.

01:40You know, Esteban had to quickly make a name for himself.

01:43He was a rookie.

01:45Sergio, he had to assert himself as the driver that was with the team the longest.

01:51This is two teammates scrapping away here.

01:57Ocon's going to go for it again, trying to get past Perez.
