00:00From abstract strokes to thought-provoking installations, it was a vibrant showcase of
00:06color, sound, and imagination at ODEON Kuala Lumpur, where creativity flowed freely and
00:11stories were told without words. Organized by the Ministry of Communications through
00:27the My Creative Ventures group, Suara Belachu or Voice of the Canvas, was among more than
00:3220 creative showcases held under Rio X ASEAN from October 15th to 31st.
00:37This is the first time that My Creative Ventures is working together with a curator from Balai
00:44Senivisual to put up an exhibition. The aim is to highlight young Malaysian talent and showcase
00:54the kind of art that they are engaged with. And I think we might consider having a similar
01:04show in future because I think it gives a very good opportunity for young artists to participate.
01:12For art, we had over 20 over-activations and Suara Belachu is one of the activation which reflects
01:22on the visual arts amongst others as part of our initiative to promote the creative industry
01:30in Malaysia. Perhaps next year we'll be looking into the possibility of taking our artworks abroad, at least region,
01:40region, ASEAN region.
01:42Bringing together 36 contemporary artists from across Malaysia, the exhibition explored themes
01:47of identity, culture and expression through an array of contemporary artworks.
01:52I have put up one work to the conclusion of two chairs. One, you would see a black chair where it shows our
02:02history, silence and our memory of what we used to be. And the colourful one shows how we should stay united.
02:12These two chairs stand as a reminder as how we should be able to sit together in a world where we are often divided.
02:24And, yeah, it's a small reminder that, you know, it's a place where we sit. We should be able to sit at the same table.
02:34This is my artwork. It's called Find Your Wings and Fly. So this is part of my Medeka series, which I did during 2022.
02:44So this is like an interim series. So I've also kind of used the ginger jars and I paired it with the orange butterfly.
02:53And I use a lot of butterflies in my artwork because I'm really into symbols. And for me, butterflies symbolize ancestors,
03:01a spirit and also transformation. So I use a lot of visual language, which I refer back to kind of various cultures.
03:10It could be Eastern. It could be Western. So it's something I'm quite interested to share with the public.
03:16Beyond the corridor lined with canvases, the main hall transforms into Tiang Seri,
03:26a large scale immersive installation of light and sound by Iwas of Harum Kasturi Studio
03:32that draws audiences into an enveloping symphony of sight and sensation.
03:37More than an exhibition, Swarabellachu stands as a celebration of the region's artistic pulse,
03:43a reminder that creativity continues to connect and define us across borders.
