00:00The story is, I had an MRI of my back on September the 26th, I think, as an incidental thing,

00:13not expecting any problems. I had a CT scan the next day and then had a PET scan the day after

00:18that. And then just as we were going on holidays, we'd plan two and a half weeks holiday.

00:25Much anticipated going overseas for a family wedding for our godson and a break that we're

00:34greatly looking forward to. But anyway, it turned out that I've got a Diffused B-Cell Lymphoma,

00:42which came as a hell of a shock. It's a treatable lymphoma, but nevertheless not something to

00:53be taken lightly. At this stage, the estimates are that I've got a five year survival of

01:00about 55%, but that's potentially a cure anyway. So those that come through have long term cure.

01:10So that's obviously what I'm hoping for. Things move fairly quickly. Obviously we had to cancel

01:16a trip overseas. Had a laparoscopy and biopsy a few days after that. And then that confirmed

01:25the diagnosis and then started chemotherapy while I was still on leave.

01:31Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you for lots of well wishes. And I'm sorry this has happened. And I'm hoping

01:47that when the treatment's over that I'll be able to get back fully to work and continue to work for the city,

01:59which has been a great privilege. But I know I'm not Robinson Crusoe and lots of people have been

02:06through this and a whole lot worse. And it's frankly, we should recognise how lucky we are

02:14with medical services in the city. In a different specialty. Because yeah, it's great stuff. So I'm very

02:25confident in the treatment that I'm getting. And let's just hope for a good outcome.
