00:01It's been all systems go here at Nabiak for day one of this year's annual Posty Bike Dash.
00:13Nearly 100 riders from all corners of New South Wales and some from further afield are taking part in the six day ride which will cover nearly 1,100 kilometres
00:25winding through towns around the mid north coast region mainly on dirt roads.
00:31Taking part this year for the ninth time is 76 year old Nabiak local Brian Kelleher who's doing the ride with his son and daughter and also his granddaughter.
00:43He says it's always a memorable experience.
00:46It's not dangerous but you scare yourself a lot.
00:50The bikes aren't really designed for charging up and down dirt roads but they do it quite well, surprisingly well.
00:56The ride aims to raise money for children in need or those living with a disability or facing disadvantage.
01:03It hopes to raise $400,000 and along the way the riders will be handing out around $25,000 worth of grants to local schools and community groups.
01:15Many are dressed around a theme including the Tamworth Posty Dogs and the Vikings from Newcastle.
01:21So they're sure to attract plenty of attention and smiles along the way before wrapping up here in Nabiak at the end of the week.
01:29We ride together because actually I'm my dad's handbrake because he's very fast and speedy and not allowed to do that anymore.
