00:00If this really is about regime change, if, would Venezuela be better off without Maduro as its leader?
00:07Well, it depends, because at the moment, what I think the Trump administration either is or isn't considering is the Pandora box in my open,
00:15depending on the way they decide to execute their different actions in Venezuela.
00:20There is the possibility that there is a direct push for regime change and that it fails.
00:26There is the possibility that Maduro is ousted from power, but is replaced by someone from within his own party.
00:34And within that possibility, there are the different factions of the current governing party that would mean very different outcomes for the Venezuelan situation.
00:44And there is, of course, the third possibility that there is a regime change and an opposition leader manages to get a hold of power in Venezuela.
00:54Within each and every one of those possibilities, there is no 100% possibility of a positive outcome.
01:03All of those options have very complicated implications.
01:07All of those options have very dangerous opportunities that may present themselves.
01:12So the important here is, and this is what worries many Venezuelans, this cannot be just a quick action looking for a regime change and then hoping for the best for Venezuelans.
01:23That is why many analysts and politicians are hoping that there is at least, perhaps it's not what leads to the solution,
01:31but there has to be different diplomatic and political channels between the government and the United States,
01:38between the government and opposition factions, because this is the only way that there will be at least a possibility to plan for any of these actions.
01:47And I just want to comment something very quickly over the United States as the police of the world, a philosophical idea.
01:56I think I've always been very fond of American culture.
01:59And I think that the way that the United States has always presented itself as the police of the world
02:05is because it's always been a hub for receiving immigrants and integrating their cultures and making them a big part of American life.
02:14And that, with all of the different cultures blending into the American lifestyle,
02:19that is what gave the American government a certain sense of responsibility over their immigrants' own places of origin.
02:27And in this moment, with how the Trump administration has been constantly closing more and more its borders
02:34and the way they've been trying to kind of pressure other countries, not just their rivals,
02:39but also their own allies, into submitting to what the Trump administration is trying to implement in the world,
02:46this has slowly made the United States lose its place as the police of the world.
