Can you really turn your motorcycle into a money-making machine? In this episode of On Two Wheels, we put the Honda Trail 125 to the test as a food delivery bike to see if it’s possible to pay off a motorcycle through delivery apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats. With its low price, incredible fuel economy, and easy-to-ride design, the Trail 125 seems like the perfect budget-friendly platform for a side hustle. But how much money can you actually make, and does it really make sense? Join Evan as he gears up, builds the ultimate delivery setup, and finds out whether you can get paid to ride, or if this will end up being a dead-end job.

00:00How quickly can you pay off a motorcycle by delivering food? We're putting that to the
00:07test with the Honda Trail 125. And it's a great candidate because it's cheap, great on gas because
00:13the less I spend the more I earn, and it's got this luggage rack that's basically begging to
00:18deliver food. So this ain't your typical delivery service. This is a real-world test to determine
00:23how quickly this thing can earn its keep. First off we gotta rig it up to deliver cold food cold,
00:29hot food hot, and hopefully no spilling along the way. Okay, there's probably gonna be some
00:34spilling along the way, but let's get started.
00:49These are the items I purchased for rigging up my delivery bike. First off, this cooler,
00:54this will be the main thing that holds everything. Cost me $26. Next is a 4 cup cup holder for holding
01:02drinks. That cost me $13. And then next I bought two different storage containers of different sizes.
01:09The small one cost me $3. The bigger one cost me $6. I bought two of them just in case I get more
01:15than one order at a time. I can just separate them and make sure there's no cross-contamination going
01:20down or anything like that. And then finally some hardware and velcro just for securing stuff to
01:26the cooler and to the bike. That cost me $19. So all in, I'm at 67 bucks. Not bad for an initial
01:33investment. Now it's time to just bolt everything up and see if it fits.
01:37So three holes in the bottom. So if I got it wrong, I might be going and getting a new cooler.
01:52One hole, two hole, three hole. I think that's the fourth one. Yeah. So now we'll just drill through
02:00that and then the bolts will come through the through here and it'll just be boom like that.
02:11So let's play with some power tools. If you're going to build a food delivery bike, the Trail 125
02:17is kind of a no-brainer. At just over $4,000, it gets an incredible hundred plus miles to the gallon.
02:22The rear rack makes mounting a cooler simple. It's a light, easy to ride, and has an automatic clutch.
02:28It's small size, keeps it nimble in city traffic. Sure, it tops out before highway speeds, but that's
02:33not part of the plan. It's not fast or flashy, but it's practical, reliable, and kind of perfect
02:39for getting the job done. All right. The cooler is secure. Look at this. Freaking move the bike.
02:44We just bolted. The rack already has threads, so we just used some long screws, went through.
02:51It's locked in. So now we'll just drop in the organizers. A little of that. Get this drink in here.
03:03This thing just kind of squeezes in there like that. That thing's locked into place. Then we have the Velcro.
03:15Just if we want to just put Velcro on the bottom to just make stuff even more secure.
03:19Oh, I'll have to chop this off, but that's pretty close.
03:27See, I don't know if I... I think this might actually work best and just leaving it loose if I need to
03:33adjust. I'm not sure. I mean, this stuff is locked in. I mean, pretty close. And Velcro will help
03:40really secure it to the cooler. But yeah, I mean, I think for most orders, I'll probably get the job done.
03:51You know, I'm thinking of a McDonald's. A bag of cheeseburger and french fries. Bring it. Boom.
03:57Large Coke or something. Boom.
04:01On my way.
04:0415 minutes and $67 later, we've got ourselves a food delivery vehicle.
04:09But before we can start taking orders, we got to find out if this thing is as good as I think it is.
04:14And in order to do that, we got to go to the testing facility.
04:30So you might be wondering, how are we going to test if this thing is actually ready for delivery duty?
04:36We've come up with a challenge. I'm going to pick up a food order from the on-site cafe and take it
04:41through a custom-built obstacle course, which will include real-world challenges. Speed bumps,
04:47tight corners, a U-turn, a short off-road stretch, and even a slalom just to keep things interesting.
04:54The goal? Deliver the food and drinks in perfect condition. No spills, no mess.
04:59If I succeed, this little thing just might be ready for business.
05:11All right, order for Evan. All right, got the first order. Pop the cooler.
05:17Let's go. Look how easy this is. Just throw that in. Throw that in. Place the straw nicely beside it.
05:30Easy. But now we got to get there. Don't want my customers waiting.
05:35Part of my business model is delivering the food without a mess, but also delivering it in 30 minutes or less.
05:45Let's go.
05:48All right, and we're off.
05:51First speed bump. Let's take it nice and slow. The lean angle is making me a little concerned already.
05:57I'm not worried about the burger or whatever that is in the food box. I'm worried about the drink.
06:04Okay, left-hander. Let's try not to lean the bike too much. I have to hang off the side of it like I'm a road racer.
06:12Okay, we got this right-hander. Let's leave it. Keep it upright.
06:19Okay, keep it upright. Another right-hander.
06:22All right, we're into this tight left. Again, keep it upright. Keep it upright. Watch the bumps.
06:32The food I'm not worried about. That drink.
06:36Okay, this is our U-turn. Again, just trying to keep the bike upright as much as possible and avoiding any bumps.
06:44Again, because the drink isn't going to flip over, I don't think. I'm more just concerned
06:49about it spilling, you know, maybe from the lid. I don't know how secure that lid is.
06:57All right, got my left-hander. Okay. Ooh, this is rough. This is rough. Slow down, slow down.
07:03Ooh, okay. Big bump. Ah. Okay. This is the dirt section. It's already felt rough. Now we're going into the dirt.
07:12Okay, this is definitely bumpy. Yeah, this is... I think it's going to be okay, though.
07:21Ooh, that was a big one. Let's just creep through here. We're giving up time for sure, but I want it.
07:30I want it to get there. I want everything to be nice and clean, no mess, like I said.
07:36That's how you know we did it right. This is the fast section.
07:42Okay, but again, left-hander. Let's keep the bike upright. Keep the bike upright.
07:50Almost there. Keep the bike upright.
07:53Okay, I'm feeling good about this. There hasn't been any big moments, nothing like that, but we still have the slalom to go through. All right.
08:06Okay, this is probably hard on the drink.
08:08Oh, and I hit a cone. Minus a point deduction. And we're here. I made it. Now we got to check the precious cargo.
08:19Hopefully, everything's in one piece, and I didn't lose my first customer.
08:25Moment of truth. Get the gloves off. Get those out of here.
08:30Okay, not bad. Not bad. Sandwich, whatever's in here. Lost a little bit of soda. The straw's dry.
08:40But not bad. Okay. That's kind of what I expected. After I started riding, I felt like
08:45the lean angle was maybe going to make it spill a little bit, a couple big bumps. But honestly,
08:52that lid, oh my gosh, it's kind of a cheap lid. Look at that. That could be part of the issue.
08:58And also, I think usually Uber Eats, they have a sticker over where the straw, because I think
09:02that's where most of it's coming out. But look at it. Pretty much a full soda. Might have to wipe it
09:07down for the customer, but let's deliver it.
09:16I'd say mostly in one piece. I said no spills, no messes, but what are you going to do? I think it's
09:23good enough. Okay. The drink spilled a little bit. Not too concerned about that. It's still pretty much
09:29a full drink. And I'm pretty sure Uber and all those apps put a sticker over it. So it's a passing
09:34grade. A little spill. Not too concerned. But let's check the main course. Let's see if this thing's edible
09:40or totally scrambled. Let's see. All right. Come on. Because if this is messed up, then it's back to
09:49the drawing board. All right. For the camera. Look at that. Perfect. The bun still. Oh, get the cheese held
10:00it on. I'd eat that. Mmm. Yep. Tastes good. Now I think it's just time to sign up. And the plan is
10:14to deliver lunch orders to a few hungry colleagues to simulate what it would be like to deliver for
10:19Uber Eats. I just got a text from my first order. It's right around the corner. Should be a quick
10:25pickup. Let's see how this thing handles a real delivery. Helmet on, bike fired up. I'm feeling
10:35good about this first delivery. This is supposed to be an easy run. Nothing fancy. Just me, the bike,
10:40and a little side hustle to see where it leads.
10:42I think this one will be fairly easy. Burrito or a taco, some salsa. A little worried about the salsa.
10:57Bowl of soup. That's not going to be easy. This one could be quite challenging. Luckily,
11:01it's really close. So I only got to nurse it for about a mile. Cars go real fast on this street.
11:12All right. Front row parking right in front of Wahoos. That was easy.
11:25All right. Let's get our meal.
11:33Hi. I'm looking for an order for Jeff Allen. Yeah. A pickup order?
11:37Awesome. Thanks so much. Take care. All right. Order one. Now let's see how this thing fits in the
11:46cooler. If we can make it one mile without any big spills or messes to clean up. All right.
11:54Watch how easy this is going to be. Pop it. Drop it. Lock it. There are drinks to get with on this one.
12:04Fire the bike up. This has been pretty quick and efficient.
12:11Everything feels pretty secure. Now it's time to go make some money.
12:24All right. This is where you got to be a little more careful on a corner.
12:27We don't have any drinks on this, but we do have a bowl of soup. So anything liquid,
12:35I have to be careful with lean angle. Really lean angle, braking, accelerating. Got to be kind of
12:40gentle and baby it. All right. We're almost there. So far, this has been only like a 15 minute ordeal.
12:47Not bad. All right. Again, got a corner. That corner was a little hit it kind of aggressively.
12:54That could be a little bit of a spill. We'll see. As I popped the cooler. Might have spoke too soon.
13:01Could be a deconstructed taco back there.
13:06I'm going to cheat by going around there. Be careful of the bump. I spot one hungry colleague.
13:13Order for Jeff? Yeah. Wahoos?
13:23All right. Everything looks pretty good so far. There's no big mess underneath the pickup.
13:30Big meal for a big guy.
13:32Take a tip. What if you got one? Where's my drink?
13:38What do you mean? What drink?
13:39I ordered a drink. I ordered an iced tea.
13:45That's what it says right there. Brood iced tea. The guy didn't give me a drink.
13:50All right. He didn't even put one out.
13:51That's one star.
13:54Dude.
13:55Well, they're supposed to take care of everything. I'm supposed to deliver it.
13:58No. You can go get it. I'll still be here when you get back, bucko.
14:02Okay. Well, I guess that's something to know for the next one. These guys don't take care of their stuff.
14:07First order is done and delivered. It was actually pretty easy. I had a lot of fun and the bike handled
14:13it well, but I made one big mistake. I forgot the drink. I'll make sure for the next order to check the
14:18receipt. Make sure of every item before I load up the cooler. We just got a text message for our next order.
14:24It's farther away and larger, but the name of the game is the same. Check the receipt and try not to spill.
14:48Now I feel like I've done this before. Try not to mess up like last time.
15:11Yeah, for Bert. Awesome. Thank you. All right. Let's check this out.
15:17What are we looking at? Two entree plate, two entree plate.
15:21Okay. I don't see anything about a drink. I see non tiki masala times two.
15:27All right. I feel pretty confident. That's everything.
15:34All right. Easy peasy. Just like last time. Pop, drop and lock. Let's get going.
15:46Now we're carrying a load. Got to be a little more careful.
15:56No drinks, but we still have fluids. It looks like some curry or something in there.
16:02So again, name of the game. We check the items.
16:07Feel very confident that I got everything in the box. Everything's in the cooler that they ordered.
16:13But again, no spills, no messes. So we'll just be careful with, you know, accelerating,
16:19braking, and of course, lean angle. Because I think that's really been the thing hurting me.
16:24All I had to do now was get it there in one piece. Between potholes, traffic lights,
16:29and the usual delivery chaos, the mission was simple. Get it there fast, keep it clean,
16:34and try not to turn lunch into a smoothie. Easier said than done when the road's rough
16:39and you're trying to avoid leaning the bike over too much. All right. So same thing.
16:45Watch the lean angle. Be careful with the lean angle. And I think that's really all I got to worry about
16:51right now.
17:11All right. Let's check the package. See how the goods are. See where the hungry colleague is.
17:17Okay. Looks about as good as it was when I put it in there. No leaks, no spills, no messes.
17:25That's going to be my company slogan. Hurry up, man. Are you hungry?
17:29Yeah, I'm starving. All right. Well, I got like, this is like five pounds of food for you.
17:34I'll eat it all right now. Well, how does it look? Is it clean? Is it good?
17:40No spills, no messes. Dude, that's the motto. Dude, it looks like dog food. Oh, no, that's just Ninos.
17:48Thanks, Evan. Leave me a tip. No. Come on, man. I'm struggling. Uber, east driver. Your tip
17:55is to ride faster. All right. Good knowledge from the old man at the office. I could use it.
18:03With age comes experience, I guess. All right. Still got one more hungry colleague to serve.
18:09And that's the big boss. I can't get that one wrong. Delivery two is done and dusted. Delivered it
18:16on time with no spills, messes, and I didn't forget anything. Kind of getting the hang of this. But I
18:21got a text for my third and final order. Let's check it out. Pizza and haggis. What the heck is haggis?
18:29Oh, this looks like dog food. I don't know who would eat that, but I don't have to eat it. But I am a
18:36little bit concerned about the pizza. It might not fit in this cooler. So I'll bring some extra supplies,
18:41strap it down, make it work. Hopefully I won't need them. But if I do, I got them.
19:11All right. I've got my supplies. I've got tape to potentially tape the pizza to the cooler. I've got
19:17bungee straps to potentially strap the pizza to the cooler. And I've got a jacket to hopefully
19:22insulate the pizza, keep it hot, and keep out any bugs or debris. Got about 45 minutes till the pizza's
19:28ready, which should give me enough time to hunt down some haggis. There's an international food shop
19:33right up here on the right. We'll start there. Fingers crossed that they got it because I don't know
19:37where else to find haggis in Orange County. Okay. Found some haggis.
19:59Hello. Do you have haggis here?
20:01I guess like the, uh, the British food. It's kind of like a, no, you don't. Okay.
20:10And it's a canned sausage. You don't have anything like that. No. Okay. Okay. Thank you.
20:16All right. No dice. So let me try one more spot that I could think of.
20:22If not, not getting haggis. Again, pizza for sure. Haggis is a maybe at this point.
20:28So apparently haggis is a thing people actually eat. I spent way too long riding around trying to find
20:34it. Even stopped at one other place and shocker. Nothing. Not a trace. At that point I figured it
20:40was a sign. Time to stop chasing mystery meat and move on to something I actually knew existed.
20:46My next stop, a pizza pickup.
20:56Okay. Some pizza. No haggis, but definitely pizza.
21:04Hello. Picking up an order for Mark, please. Yeah, for Mark.
21:08Awesome. This is a big boy. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Amore pizza. All right.
21:19This is a challenge for sure. Yeah, it's definitely not fitting. Actually, you know,
21:24it's not as bad as now that I size it up. Let's get the supplies out. Installation.
21:32Start with the bungee cords. I guess I'll just bring everything out.
21:35We're gonna see how far we can get with just the bungees. Starting to come together it looks like.
21:44It's pretty legit. Smells good. Sure it smells better than whatever haggis smells like.
21:49All right. Do that a few more times and we might be in business.
22:02The bungee setup was actually working better than I expected, but time wasn't on my side. I still
22:08needed to get moving if I didn't want the pizza showing up cold or sliding off somewhere along the
22:13way. It's not going forward or backwards, but we got us maybe. Oh, look at this. Secure it side to
22:19side with this guy. Something like that. Do one. One to the other. Good thing I bought this cooler.
22:30It's almost like it was made for this. Look at that. This. Might have to patent this idea.
22:38Look at that. Dude, that's not going anywhere.
22:46But for a little extra safety, duct tape never hurt anything.
22:56Perfect. All right. Okay. The supplies are ready to go back in the cooler, but the cooler is not ready
23:03for the supplies. So we'll just stuff it in the kangaroo patch. Should make it. Sometimes you just
23:12gotta be flexible. Everything feels secure. Yeah. 40 miles per hour and I still got a pizza. We're doing all right.
23:27All right. Okay. All right. A lot of torque from this little trail 125. So we get up to speed
23:44very quickly and now we're cruising.
24:04All right. Pizza order for Mark. Damn. All I can say is what took you so long?
24:10Some haggis. I was on the hunt for haggis. What's haggis anyways? Did you find it? Where is it?
24:17There is. I could not find haggis. Oh man. I don't think either Amazon. I don't know if they sell it in
24:23Orange County. Amazon. Let's check out the pizza though. Because that's the important part.
24:31Let's see. I'm starving, man. It should be hot and ready. Sure. Let's see. What is this? This is
24:38insulation. And look. I knew there would be debris. Keep it off the pizza. Boom. Is that a jacket liner?
24:45Yeah. Gotta get creative. This better not taste like armpit. Let's see. I just want to see if
24:51it's in one piece or if it's in 16 or eight. Oh, look at that. Okay. Okay. Not my best work,
25:03but actually better than I thought. Sweet. Stick in. Those edges always get messed up anyways.
25:10All right. Well, enjoy.
25:17Three deliveries done and dusted. The first one, I learned a lot. I forgot an item. You've got to pay
25:22attention to the details. The second one was a breeze. Delivered it hot and ready with no spills or
25:27messes. And the third one, definitely threw an obstacle with the large pizza box. But we made it
25:32work. We were flexible. Oh, how's it going? Oh, you scared me. How are you talking to me? Hey, man,
25:39you know, it's pretty easy on the Dynamic Mashed with Cardo. I can just jump in on any,
25:43find you anytime. It's totally seamless. Oh, I'm always up for a conversation. So I guess that's good.
25:50Yeah. All right. And I just want to catch up and say like, man, I was kind of bummed I didn't get that
25:53haggis. Yeah. I looked everywhere for it. I just could not find it. Yeah. I guess actually,
25:59to be honest, I'm kind of glad I didn't get that. I guess the pizza was good. I bet. I Googled it.
26:05It looks disgusting. There's no way I would eat that. Yeah. You know, it's food for somebody,
26:09but maybe not food for everybody. Not for me. Yeah. Hey, so I'm kind of curious. How come you're not
26:15riding a big luxury adventure bike like this? It's a beautiful bike, but it looks expensive. Yeah.
26:22To be fair, it's probably about 30,000 bucks, but I feel like I could pick up salmon in Alaska on this
26:27thing. You know what I mean? Yeah. But on this bike, the less I spend, the more I earn.
26:33Hey, fair point. Fair point. All right. Well, this is my exit. I'll see you later.
26:37All right, man. We'll see you on the next delivery. Aggiesburgers.
26:40After a few deliveries, the math doesn't lie. I logged about two hours of delivery time and made
26:5367 bucks total, including tips, which works out to about 30 bucks an hour. Not bad for cruising
26:59around town on a little Honda. But if we do the math, at that rate, it would take roughly 130 hours
27:06to pay off a bike like this. Not exactly a get-rich-quick scheme. I've definitely gained
27:11a lot more appreciation for what it takes to earn your ride. To put it in perspective,
27:16if I worked 10 hours a week, it would take roughly four months to pay off the Trail 125.
27:23Thank God we didn't pick a $30,000 adventure bike. In the end, this wasn't about making a fortune.
27:29It was about the experience. We set out to see if you could pay off your bike
27:33by delivering food. But what we actually discovered is a totally new way to enjoy riding,
27:38even if it is technically work. And in the end, any excuse to ride is a good one,
27:44whether you're delivering haggisburgers or making videos like this one.
