00:10impressive Tesla Semi. In this post, we'll take a detailed look at the latest developments
00:17surrounding the Tesla Semi, which is already making waves in the US and could soon be on
00:21display worldwide. Before we get started, don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss any exciting
00:29news from the automotive world. The Tesla Semi was originally developed for the North American
00:35market. However, Elon Musk recently emphasized that he sees the Semi as a global product.
00:43Although Tesla is currently focusing on the US, there are already initial indications that the
00:47Tesla Semi will also be adapted for the European market. The truck was presented to the public at
00:55the IIA Transportation 2024 in Hanover and in front of Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin.
01:01What exactly differentiates the European version of the Tesla Semi from the American one?
01:07On the one hand, Tesla is planning a new frame structure for the driver's cab,
01:12which will be slightly larger in Europe and can optionally be equipped as a sleeper cab.
01:18There is also a revised chassis design that is not only intended to improve comfort,
01:22but also optimizes brake energy recovery. It looks as if Tesla is planning to make the European Semi
01:30particularly efficient and comfortable on long journeys. Ideal for the European market,
01:36which relies on longer driving times. Currently, production of the Tesla Semi is still running on
01:42a smaller production line at Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada. However, Tesla is building a new factory
01:50nearby specifically for the production of the Semi truck, which is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
01:56Only then does Tesla plan to really ramp up production and build up to 50,000 vehicles per year.
02:03Nevertheless, the Tesla Semi is still a long way off in Europe.
02:09Experts expect that series production in Europe could start in 2026 at the earliest,
02:14possibly in an expanded Gigafactory in Berlin.
02:16Elon MU's vision of also using the Semi in Europe and China is therefore designed for the long term.
02:25In China in particular, there are strong incentives to reduce emissions in the truck sector and Tesla
02:30could gain a foothold here in order to meet local demand for zero-emission trucks.
02:34Whether in Europe or China, the Tesla Semi offers a clear advantage over rival models such as the MAN ETG-X,
02:44which only offers a range of 400 kilometers, thanks to its impressive range of up to 500 miles,
02:49around 800 kilometers per charge, combined with a large battery of around 900 kilowatt-hours.
02:55In the electric truck segment, Tesla is currently competing with manufacturers such as MAN,
03:02who are already using electric trucks for short distances.
03:06For example, it has supplied the Drexelmeier Group in Germany with its ITG-X trucks,
03:12which can be operated on short routes with a battery capacity of up to 480 kilowatt-hours.
03:17Although the MAN ETG-X is well-suited for local trips, it cannot yet compete with the Tesla Semi in terms of range and efficiency,
03:26which is said to offer a range of 800 kilometers, depending on the charge and driving conditions.
03:34Overall, the Tesla Semi will certainly be a great success in Europe thanks to its technical innovations
03:40such as efficient battery use and advanced semi-autonomous driving functions.
03:47However, it must first convince in the USA before Tesla can start expanding production globally.
