A new aged care act comes into effect tomorrow, more than four years after the royal commission into aged care handed down 148 recommendations for change. Advocates have already raised concerns about access to home care packages for older Australians, with providers hiking up their prices in response to the changes. CEO of the Older Persons Advocacy Network Craig Gear says he hopes the new act will see a culture shift within the sector.
