Greek carrier Aegean Airways set to fly direct to Baghdad in European first

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis confirmed that the inaugural flight to Iraq's capital would take place on 16 December.

00:00Aegean Airlines will become the first European carrier to fly directly to Baghdad,
00:04the Greek foreign minister said on Thursday during a visit to Iraq.
00:08The Greek airline is scheduled to operate its inaugural flight from Athens to Iraqi capital on the 16th of December.
00:15Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Kerafetritis said this step will substantially boost economic and cultural ties.
00:23His Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussain, welcomed the move,
00:26saying recent visits from European leaders show the stability country is experiencing.
00:31Hussain added that the two countries also discussed cooperation in agriculture, investment and tourism.
00:37The news comes as plans are underway to upgrade Baghdad International Airport.
