00:00Welcome to the video from the Auto Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:03Today, everything revolves around an exciting concept vehicle from France, the Renault 4 Savanne 4x4.
00:10After a break of over three decades, Renault relaunched the legendary Renault 4 at the end of 2024.
00:16Now is a compact electric car.
00:19The Savanne 4x4 impressively demonstrates how much potential there is in this new interpretation.
00:24While the production model has front-wheel drive, the concept relies on all-wheel drive with two electric motors, with the second motor located on the rear axle.
00:36This technical upgrade not only promises more traction, but also a significant increase in performance compared to the standard version, whose front engine produces 150 horsepower and 245 newton-meters.
00:48Renault does not provide any precise performance data for the concept, but it should be significantly faster than the production model, which completes the 100-hour sprint in 8.2 seconds.
01:03Visually, the Renault 4 Savanne 4x4 stands out from the series with a fresh paint job in jade green, a fabric roof with a pixel pattern and a suspension that has been raised by 15mm.
01:14Although the increased ground clearance does not ensure true off-road capability, it does make it easier to use off-road.
01:23The new 18-inch wheels with good are ultra-grip performance plus tires in a width of 225mm and 10mm wider tracks at the front and rear further reinforce the robust impression.
01:36Much of the technology also remains familiar.
01:39The platform called Ampere Small is shared by the Savanne with the Renault 5, the Twingle, the new Nissan Micra and the Alpine A290.
01:50These are only equipped with front-wheel drive as standard, but the new concept shows that all-wheel drive is definitely feasible.
01:59A dual-motor Alpine A290 would also be conceivable, which would certainly ensure sporty driving performance.
02:05Renault has not commented on the battery capacity.
02:10However, it would seem obvious that the larger battery with a capacity of 50 kWh would be used in the Savanne, instead of the 40 kWh in the base model.
02:20With the larger battery, the range is around 400 km according to WLTP.
02:25Should the vehicle go into series production, it is likely to be priced higher than the regular Renault 4 with a large battery, which starts at around 31,500 euros in France, including an environmental bonus of around 2,000 euros.
02:42Interestingly, the Savanne 4x4 is not the first adventure-oriented concept based on the new Renault 4.
02:48Even before the series premiere, Renault presented the Forever Trophy concept, which also hinted at a more robust version.
02:57Whether the Savanne 4x4 will make it into production remains to be seen.
03:01In any case, a similar project, the 5 Turbo 3e, has already been approved with a price tag of around 160,000 euros.
