00:00We are here with the one, the only, Melissa Gorger.
00:02We're going to talk all about Wife Swap, Real Housewives Edition.
00:05Your episode was so much fun.
00:07I mean, this whole show, the concept of it is just pure reality TV gold.
00:12Your episode especially.
00:13What made you decide to do this show?
00:16It was not an easy decision.
00:18I said no before I said yes.
00:20Then I got a couple phone calls saying to me,
00:23like, you guys would be so great on this.
00:25And I thought about it, and I'm like, Wife Swap is iconic.
00:28I'm like, I used to watch that when I was young.
00:31I remember it back in the day.
00:33And I'm like, when am I ever going to get a chance
00:36to, like, live in somebody else's house again
00:38and, like, do something like this?
00:40So I just decided to go for it.
00:42It was pretty wild. Crazy.
00:44You're coming from this very neat, organized, clean home
00:47into this home that's maybe a little bit more laid back,
00:50a little less so.
00:51My house is so, like, monochromatic and clean lines
00:56and extremely organized, extremely neat.
01:00Like, you can tell that they live here.
01:02What were your first thoughts
01:03when you walked into the Clark residence?
01:07That I needed to organize it immediately.
01:09I had a little anxiety, and I understood
01:12as soon as I got there, like, why they picked this family
01:16to swap with me because I was like, okay, I get it.
01:19I see what's happening here.
01:21But ultimately, they were so amazing.
01:24I learned so much from them.
01:25I fell in love with their children.
01:27The little one, oh, my God, Maverick, so cute.
01:31Like, who knew that I would go and sleep
01:34in a different master bedroom?
01:36And, like, you know, and the poor, you know,
01:40my, the Sean, who was, like, the swap dad,
01:43he went and slept on the couch in his pineapple pajamas.
01:46So it was, it was nice.
01:48It was, like, a different, it was a wild experience.
01:50So you and Michelle both had a list for each other
01:52of what you do every single day.
01:54One thing on yours, I was like, wow,
01:56she does it every day, glam.
01:58So I'm here to do your glam for today.
02:01We're gonna do, like, a little zhuzh.
02:04She's ready.
02:04Yeah, she's ready to work.
02:06So do you actually do it every day?
02:07And when you do, how long does it usually take?
02:09So I don't do it every day, but I do it often.
02:12I would say if I'm going to do anything for, like,
02:16obviously for camera, for TV, or if I'm shooting content.
02:19So a lot of the times, if I'm shooting content,
02:22then I have glam that day.
02:24It's not every single day.
02:25I actually can do my own glam pretty well, by the way.
02:28But I think for her, it probably felt like every day
02:31because doing it as often as I do.
02:34But obviously, I'm in the entertainment business,
02:36so it kind of goes with, like, the,
02:38it goes with the flow of what's happening.
02:40Well, one thing you said in the episode was that Joe
02:42has never changed one of the kids' diapers.
02:44Start your day together.
02:46One, you guys are a team.
02:48A team.
02:48Wow.
02:49My, like, I've never had a man help with a child in my life.
02:53Get out of here!
02:54My husband, never.
02:55He's never changed my child's diaper.
02:58How much of a culture shock was it
03:00when you had Sean there to literally help
03:02with every single thing?
03:03And have you started putting more demands on Joe
03:06since coming home?
03:07Yes.
03:09Like, I was in shock over how much Sean does.
03:13I was like, wait, what?
03:14Like, they don't leave each other's side
03:16for 24 hours a day.
03:18He is Mr. Mom, but he also, they work together.
03:22I was in shock.
03:24And then there was a point that I was like,
03:25you actually need a minute to, like,
03:28have your own thoughts.
03:29And, like, you know, to evolve,
03:32you need to think for a minute.
03:33You can't have kids on top of you 24 hours a day.
03:35So divide and conquer once in a while.
03:37Give each other a break once in a while.
03:39And they didn't see that at first.
03:40They thought, like, no, we do every single thing together.
03:43And I'm like, it's going to be really hard
03:44to grow professionally
03:46if you don't have a minute to, like,
03:48put your thinking cap on.
03:49And so that was kind of, like,
03:51what I had to share with them.
03:54You know?
03:54So it's crazy.
03:57I went home.
03:57I'm like, Joe, like, what do you do?
04:00You go to work.
04:01I'm like, I'm going to need you to do more.
04:03I haven't, he's been washing the dishes.
04:05That's an update.
04:06So, yeah, he washes dishes now.
04:08He, I think he changed,
04:09I think it was Gino's diaper once.
04:11He put it on backwards.
04:12The tape was going the wrong direction.
04:14And, of course, Gino had, like,
04:16a bad stomach that day.
04:17Things were coming out of the,
04:18he was like this, like,
04:20just, I was like, just go away.
04:22I got this, like, I cannot.
04:23He puts the dog's diaper on backwards.
04:25Like, if that's even possible,
04:27he could barely put the dog's diaper on.
04:29So there's that.
04:29Speaking of Joe, at one point,
04:31everyone was in the backyard,
04:33double-dutching.
04:33The house was kind of a mess.
04:35He was wearing whatever he wanted.
04:36He was like, I love Michelle.
04:37He had his hat tilted to the side.
04:40My whole life, I've been told what to do.
04:43I love Michelle.
04:45She's like, go away there.
04:46You look like an idiot,
04:48but you look great.
04:50The first thing I saw
04:52when I saw that scene,
04:54I was like, what are you wearing?
04:56Like, what is happening?
04:57He was like, that's right.
04:58I got my pant leg up,
04:59my hat's to the side.
05:00I was like, is this your double-dutch outfit?
05:02Like, what is this?
05:03He just likes to be free
05:04because I'm obviously going to be like,
05:06pull your pant, pull your pant down,
05:08straighten your hat.
05:10I was going to say,
05:10was he getting a little too excited
05:11in that moment?
05:12I think he enjoyed it.
05:13I do.
05:14I think he enjoyed,
05:15I mean, he missed me
05:15and we missed each other,
05:17but I think that he enjoyed
05:18like that minute he got to just,
05:20it was like a little free fall.
05:22I was like, and the time is up.
05:23Well, the kids missed you a lot.
05:25They did.
05:26Which I thought was so cute.
05:27What did you miss most about them
05:28when you were gone?
05:30I think I just was,
05:32even more than missing them,
05:33I was so curious.
05:34I'm like, what are they doing right now?
05:36Are they eating her food?
05:37Are they like in conversation with her right now?
05:41Are they engaging?
05:42And I was really happy to see
05:43that my daughter really like got in there.
05:46She became like a little bit of a mini me.
05:48She was very like into it.
05:50She told me about all these beautiful conversations
05:51that her and Michelle had,
05:52which I love.
05:53So it was nice.
05:55It was good to let her like,
05:56you know, sometimes you need
05:57a different point of view than your mother's.
05:59You can't always just listen to what your mom says.
06:01And it was nice.
06:02She was like coaching her
06:03through things she's going through
06:04as a young woman.
06:05And it was very nice.
06:08I was also excited to see
06:09Phaedra Parks make an appearance.
06:10How did that cameo come to be?
06:12I've known Melissa for over a decade.
06:14She runs a tight ship.
06:16So when I saw Melissa turn the corner
06:19with three young children,
06:22give me a Xanax.
06:25You know what?
06:25She was local.
06:26She was nearby.
06:27And I needed to find a store.
06:29And it was like dialing a housewife.
06:31I'm like, Phaedra,
06:32where do I go and come meet me
06:35and see my new family?
06:36The way she giggled
06:37when she first saw me
06:39like walking in
06:40with these three little kids.
06:41She was like,
06:42oh my God.
06:44You know,
06:44like it was funny.
06:45But I've known Phaedra
06:46for over a decade.
06:48Obviously,
06:48we've been on Housewives
06:49forever together.
06:50So I love her.
06:51She makes me laugh.
06:53And I love how Phoenix,
06:55the little girl,
06:56she was like,
06:57she looks like Elsa.
06:58Yeah.
06:59So far with the show,
07:00we've only seen your episode.
07:01We've seen Angie Kay's episode.
07:03And in her,
07:04she was kind of living off the grid,
07:05no running water.
07:06How do you think
07:07you would have done
07:07in that environment?
07:08Did it kind of make you
07:09more grateful that yours
07:10was just kind of messy
07:11and disorganized?
07:12Yes.
07:12I was like,
07:13oh my gosh,
07:14I will never complain.
07:16I just wanted to see her
07:17take a shower.
07:18Because they showed
07:19where they showered
07:20and I'm like,
07:20outside?
07:21Wow.
07:22All of the kids
07:23showered.
07:24What?
07:28Wait a minute,
07:28wait a minute,
07:29wait a minute.
07:30So will I,
07:32this is where I'll shower
07:33and wash my hair?
07:34Yeah.
07:35Like,
07:36do people watch you?
07:37Like,
07:37do your kids see you?
07:38Like,
07:39I needed to see Angie
07:40naked in the shower.
07:42And I was like,
07:43mad that we didn't get
07:43to see her shower,
07:45right?
07:45Because like,
07:45that would have been interesting.
07:47Yeah.
07:47You can blur it and all,
07:49but like,
07:49let me see her do this.
07:51She did tell me
07:51that she used it.
07:52It just wasn't used
07:53in the final episode.
07:54I'm like,
07:54we need extended versions.
07:55Yes.
07:56First of all,
07:56all of these,
07:57I could tell you right now,
07:58could have been
07:59two episodes each.
08:00Yeah.
08:00So much couldn't make it
08:02because it's just,
08:03there's just so much time.
08:04But like,
08:04this could have been
08:05two episodes all day long.
08:06Of course,
08:06I can't let you go
08:07without asking about
08:08some things that have been
08:08in the news lately.
08:10I know,
08:11you know,
08:11there's been a lot of talk
08:12about how your sister-in-law
08:14has reached out
08:14to your husband
08:15and maybe he's talked to her.
08:17What,
08:18what does that look like
08:19from your perspective?
08:20What is their sit down?
08:21I don't know if the conversations
08:22really happen yet or not,
08:24but what does that look like?
08:25Are you and her husband involved?
08:27Is it just the brother and sister?
08:29You know,
08:29how,
08:29what would it look like for you
08:30in a perfect world?
08:32Well,
08:32obviously it would never work
08:33unless it's everyone.
08:35It just doesn't work
08:36without the full family.
08:38So I think that's just a given,
08:41right?
08:42But we're,
08:43we're all,
08:44we'll see what happens.
08:46I,
08:46I'm team family.
08:47I'll always be team family.
08:51It's just one of those things
08:52where we have to see like
08:53how it works out
08:54and what goes on,
08:56but I've never wanted it this way.
08:58This is not how my family functions.
09:00I don't believe in any of this.
09:02And if I can see for me,
09:05whatever would make Joe happy.
09:07And if Joe feels relief
09:08from this in any way,
09:10then I am on board for my husband
09:12and for my kids,
09:13most importantly.
09:14and,
09:14and for myself,
09:15I don't believe in holding like
09:17hate and resentment and anger
09:19that doesn't,
09:20it doesn't,
09:20it doesn't like equal a good life.
09:22Right.
09:23And I've always thought that,
09:24and yes,
09:25there's a lot that everyone has
09:27been through on all sides.
09:30So it's a big conversation
09:31and we'll see what happens.
